Being a woman I was worried about being taken advantage of at a tire repair shop. But being I had no choice as I had hit something and my run flat tire of my 2014 BMW went low, I stopped in at Mavis in Brewster. Not only was it close to where I was, but they had the tire in stock and showed me exactly what went wrong and what needed to be done. The staff was more than accommodating! Although I only need one tire at the moment, I ended up buying another one since the other rear tire was showing the same type of wear pattern. Worst place ever. Doesn't even deserve one star. The employee at the desk is dumber than a box of rocks. Bought 4 new tires there - it took 7 hours. They over filled them - had to go back and was told I would have to wait another "couple " of hours . Isn't that their specialty ? TIRES ?? I got a flat 2 months later. They only had one employee working and dopey at the counter who couldn't give me an estimated time - left the tire there at 930am. It's 3:04 pm and they haven't looked at it. Dopey at the counter , said "well we have a guy on vacation so ya know it happens". What happens ? ??? You don't plan for vacations?? That's the way you run a business?? Well the tire was left there from 930 am - 4pm. The reason for the flat? They didn't seal it correctly when I purchased . They were going to charge me. Dopey -Jim. Said oh ok we won't charge you. .. Um seeing it's your fault and it took 7 hours I don't think so. Wait here's the funniest part. They couldn't put the tire back on my car. Without waiting an additional 2 hours. We had two options for reservations as per their website, to drop it off or to stay, since we were out of town we choose to stay. We got there and were told that was not an option we had to leave the car and we had 15 cars in front of us. Why make an appointment if it's still first come first serve? We left and got a call shortly after saying they were too busy and couldn't fit us in anyway we would have to reschedule for the following day. They should update their website to provide clarity on the timeline their service will be delivered and eliminate the option to wait if they is not an actual option. read more

I recently brought my 2019 Subaru Ascent in to have tires put on. We ordered on Amazon and had them delivered right to Mavis. My husband got a call the day Mavis was installing the tires that my car had been damaged while on the lift. Apparently, someone opened the garage door when my car was on the lift. The garage door scrapped across the roof of my car creating a giant gouge from the back tailgate to the sunroof. They took my car to get an estimate for the damages. The first estimate they told us was about $4000 and the roof would most likely need to be replaced. They wouldn't tell us the second estimate. Joe, the service manager, told us that he would contact the regional manager and he would call us. No one ever called us back and its been over two weeks. Mavis has done nothing but give us the run around. They won't give us the number for the regional managers office and we were told by the service manager that Mavis would only cover the repairs if we took it where they told us. I have since contacted my insurance company for guidance and to get my car repaired. read more

Made a reservation in advance for 1:30 Tues for oil change and fix slow leak in tire. Arrived 1:25 and was told - we're swamped. Can't get to car for several hours. After discussion I agreed to leave car at end of day and they would do it "first thing in the morning" and "you can have it by 9ish". Came to pick car up at 10:15 only to learn it hadn't even been started. My fiancé, Jim, has known Peter from being a customer at Mavis Discount Tire for many years. Peter is now taking care of my new Jetta. It was fantastic to be able to go there for inspection and have a sticker on my window in under an hour. Peter did this on an extremely busy day when there were four other people waiting in the reception area and the parking lot was FULL! One of the great things about moving to Brewster from Manhattan are the terrific service providers like Mavis. Don't waste a second of your time at this location. The service manager is beyond rude and unprofessional. I brought in a fleet vehicle for scheduled maintenance and was met with contempt at the inconvenience, or rather "pain in the ass" of having to "deal with" another fleet car today. I happily left and took my business to the Mahopac location, where I was met with friendliness and professionalism. Come to Mavis in Brewster if you have money to spend. Go anywhere else if you want your car fixed. I had a flat tire for my car and $300 later I got the wrong tire replaced. Along with that, it took all day for them to decide to work on my car. If I hadn't had shown up before they closed since I dropped it off in the morning, I don't know if they would have even got to my car. Mavis was a huge disappointment and to top it off was the sincere coupon they gave me for the errors that made my total of $300 dollars drop to $285. The savings am I right. Also fun fact, my wife got all four of her tires done at Costco for $700 and she drives an Audi Q7. I drive an 08 Chevy Impala and for one tire cost $300 which was for the wrong tire and the biggest waste of my time. Sub par would be a gift to describe my experience at Mavis in Brewster. Don't waste your time and especially don't waste your money! I called late yesterday afternoon to ask if I needed an appointment for an oil change because I wanted to come the next day to get my oil changed and have them look at my tire (which was purchased from this store along with full sets in the past) that wasn't holding air correctly. I was told to come in the morning and it shouldn't be more than an hour to an hour and half depending on the wait. I asked multiple times if she was sure I did not need an appointment because I had to get to work and they could not have my car all day.....she assured me I didn't and that everything would be okay for me to come in and get my car back in the time I needed. Well I got there today and what do ya know she was wrong. I wasted my time and gas driving to place that had no interest in making the situation right and making sure a loyal customer had a good experience. Maybe you should train employees correctly....I specialically asked if I needed an appointment and was told no and now some old guy with a horrible attitude Is telling me different. Between my family and I we've poured thousands upon thousands of dollars into this location and I regret every cent. The customer service is usually horrible and today was the worst yet. Usually I have my dad call and deal with them because he never has issues and I always seem to but I figured I'd give it another shot and man was I let down. This is my second experience at Mavis of Brewster and they have been consistently courteous, honest, and I always leave knowing that I'm not being ripped off. It is often cheaper than I anticipate. And still they wouldn't help me. Was told that Mavis doesn't allow for overtime and there were 2 people ahead of me and they're not taking any more customers. My wife made an appointment in advance for an inspection. The appointment was for 8 am. I arrived at 7:50 am and I was the first customer. The lady behind the desk asked me if I wanted to wait or if I wanted to pick up the vehicle later, I advised her that I would wait. My vehicle is a 2020 GMC. I proceeded to wait in the waiting room for the vehicle. Two additional customers came in after me. I listen to the conversation. The first customer said he had a flat tire. She asked did he have an appointment. He stated "No". He took his car into the first bay and started working on it. The second customer said he needed an alignment. She asked did he have an appointment he stated "NO". His vehicle was then put in the third bay and they started working on his car. One hour later my car was not worked on nor did anyone speak to me. I inquired about my car and I was told that the inspection person was not in yet. I advised that my appointment was at 8 am and it's now 9 am. You could have advised me that it would be a wait. She told me that " If you want your car done fast take it somewhere else. I took my car to Lisi's and inspected it professionally and there were no issues. I will never use this office again. Unfortunately The extent of my experience didn't go passed two minutes on the phone. After the phone rang so much I thought they were already closed I was treated like my business didn't matter. After seeing appointments accepted online I decided to call and try and work something out to drop off and pick up my car. I tried to explain that I can't come and wait for "first come first served" and that I needed set times. I was brushed off stating there was nothing they can do. I have had great experiences with both the Monroe and Middletown locations and and extremely disappointed with how I was treated. Just saying, they sold my wife as part of a brake job a brake fluid flush and replacement ($79.00) and when I checked the master cylinder the fluid was dirty like it was never replaced. I went there a month later and the same thing happened to me. This time I questioned that the work was never done because I was watching the entire time. They took the charge off my bill. This place is extremely dishonest. Twice I brought my car in for a tire rotation and twice they DIDN'T rotate them, but told me they did. The lies started with Joe and then with Tony. I won't say how I know they didn't rotate my tires, but I have 100% proof that they did not! Got my oil changed a few days ago and, when it snowed, they held my car for me overnight (roads were terrible) AND parked it inside, so I didn't have to clean it off the next morning. I have to agree with so many other ratings on here that this place is not worth visiting under any circumstances. There are some rude people working there. There is always a delay of some kind, always an upsell, and as others have said, whether or not you make an appointment doesnt even matter - they will work on your car on their own time. If you do go, buyer beware. And when you walk in the door and they make you feel like they are doing you a favor to even consider taking you, or tell you "you should leave your car for the day", turn around and leave. I wish I did. And this review is not based on a single experience, but sadly, numerous as I hoped based on proximity to my home and also the Mavis lifetime plans that it was one or two isolated disappointing incidents. It was not. My final visit included a 90 minute wait when literally I was first in line as the doors opened in the morning - and being told they would not rotate my tires as requested since they wanted to put new tires on. Though I have "free tire rotation for life" as per buying many sets at Mavis over the years. They outright refused after waiting that long on a work day. Crazy. Rude. Avoid. Excellent work at a great price. Expanded hours, including Sundays, makes everything more convenient. Peter, the manger, is very knowledgeable. He is great at diagnosing problems. If you want tires, do your homework first, go on-line and check out various brands and their tread ratings and warranties, etc. before you go to buy. Know what you want and Mavis will be able to work with you to give you the best deal. Excellent service at a great price compared to the dealers. If you enjoy paying more, go to your dealer. If you want to get the best for less go to Mavis. On some rare occasions Mavis has sent us to Honda service for things that are either only or best done there.
