Long story short: - Asked for two tires; they put on four - Defective tire - Corporate said they don't put anything in writing Experience: I got a flat tire on the Blue Route in March and was towed to Mavis overnight. I live in DC (I have family in Delco), and needed to get back the next morning. As I already gotten two new tires in DC in December, I asked for 1-2 tires to be replaced. The service guy mentioned an alignment, so I said ok. The mechanic was super chatty, which should have been a clue. Anyway, he comes back with the bill, and I'm on my way. End of April, my car's shaking is so bad I pull into a Jiffy Lube in Annapolis, who points out a bubble in my tire. Long story short, I end up at a 24/7 mechanic. I called Mavis corporate the next day to discuss the defective tire. They say THEY HAD PUT ON FOUR TIRES IN MARCH, I declined protection, the tire company doesn't have a warranty, and they've only seen a bubble caused by a defection once. I ask them to put that in writing, and they say-and I quote- "WE DON'T PUT ANYTHING IN WRITING." They won't put it in writing, but I will. I'm filing a BBB warning and leaving every review possible. I bought two new front tires for my truck at Mavis on Baltimore Pike in Clifton Heights. The only tires they had it stock were the cheapest grade. A few days later, I took a trip and found that my steering wheel shook violently above 45 MPH most likely due to unbalanced front tires. I stayed at a motel in York that was close to a Mavis dealership, and asked them to rebalance the front tires which seemed to be the problem. They took off all the counter weights on the two front tire rims. Now the steering wheel only shakes between 55 and 65 MPH. I am not sure if the tires were ever rebalanced. Anyway, either their tires are defective, their balancing equipment is out of calibration, or their employees cannot balance a tire correctly. I won't go back to Mavis to have the tires balanced a third time. I do not recommend Mavis Discount Tire. read more

Called for an oil change and specified my car's make/model and year. Quoted over the phone at $49.99 with a $10 online coupon so $39.99. Not bad for synthetic oil. Made an appointment to bring the car in. Time of appointment I'm running 15 minutes late so 1/2 hour before I call to let them know. Lady says they don't even take appointments and it'll be a 2 1/2 hour wait. So I bail. Today, a weekday, I call up and they say they can take me right away. So I go. Now $49.99 has become $74.99 but I'm here and with the coupon it's $65 which most others charge. They do the work pretty fast. Time to pay.... $74.99 less the $10 is $65 but they've added $14 for labor and $5 for the filter so $92. WTF? Never paid extra for that EVER before in my 64 years. Oil's already in the car so I just pay and leave. Get back to the car and they haven't even reset the oil change monitor in the dash. DO NOT GO HERE.... EVER FOR ANYTHING. TOTAL BAIT AND SWITCH... JUST RIPPING PEOPLE OFF AND DON'T EVEN DO THE JOB WELL. WISH I COULD DO NEGATIVE STARS! ***UPDATE*** Saw your response and for that matter the response to all the other negative reviews of your business. Did not see a way to reply so I'm doing it here. This is not a matter of high prices. This is a matter of direct and obvious price manipulation to dupe your customers into paying more money. I was there yesterday for change of 4 tires. No problem there. Paid nearly 900 bucks for 4 of them. Manager and one of the mechanics came out and said that I need to have right front axel shaft replaced. They told me the price of the part alone was over 400 and labor was 300. They were really pushing, offered to finance it and all. They were nice at first and I told them I was going to think about it. While I waited, I went online and saw the same part at autozone for 168 dollars. The very same one that they tried to sell it for me for over 400. I showed it to the manager, asking if it was exact part. He totally ignored me, looking pissed and even mechanics didn't answer my question. The whole demeanor changed. I called the mechanic, that I know and yes, he ordered a part for me from Ford dealer for 163 dollars. I'll have it replaced this Thuesday. Watch out people. Always do your homework. Check the part prices elsewhere. They are total rip off. Also, my tires, after installation are making funny noise. My mechanic will look into it and if it's problem, I'll be asking for my money back for sure! read more

A flat tire turned into $2,000+ in damages Mavis did not take responsibility for. Protect your car and wallet - avoid all Mavis tires shops. I got a normal flat tire, but when Mavis put the wrong size tires on my all-wheel drive Subaru a piece of my transmission broke. Mavis said they would pay for my tows and all damages, which they then refused to pay for either. My local mechanic and Rafferty Subaru stated while they can't 100% confirm due the nature of cars, they believe the damage was due to Mavis's inability to read a tire sizing chart correctly. I had a clean inspection two weeks before the flat tire. The worse part of this experience was not having to pay such a large bill due to Mavis's ineptitude, but the utter lack of professionalism I encountered. The local branch manager was responsive and kind, but because the issue would need to be paid by Mavis insurance I had to work with the regional manager, John D. Working with him felt like I was patiently having to help a first-time employee who has not yet built the professional maturity to talk through a difficult situation. John misrepresented his conversation with Raftery Subaru, confirmed by Raftery, and after promising to pay for at least my tows, never returned a phone call or contacted me. I called Mavis HR to try to help and never had my inquiry returned after I was promised another regional manager would call me. I waited two months to write this review - hoping for some communication and baseline professionalism. If this is the maturity of the Mavis leadership team - you know there are MANY more problems we will never find out about as customers. I feel bad for their employees. read more

Yesterday morning I went to mavis to get 2 new tires mounted and balanced. I already had the wheels off the car and my own 2 new tires.. The manger took my info , quoted me on how much to mount my own 2 new tires and balance , when I retrieved one of the bad wheels from out of the trunk of my other car , first thing he said is oh we can't balance this wheel , I said huh ? He then began to get smart and say look at the tire ?It's ripped all around , we can't balance this, I know you see the tire.. now I'm so confused , I said Huh again to make sure I was hearing what he said , he began to get more angry and said to me again , look at the tire, you see it ripped right ? How can we balance this ? Like I was stupid or crazy smh.. I said to the manager didn't you just give me a work order for 2 new tires being mounted and balance inside the office ? I said to him why would I want to get this wheel balanced with the tire like this when we was just in the office creating a work order for 2 new tires being mounted and balanced ? He than told me I could take my wheel somewhere else and walked away smh..he literally forgot everything he did in the office from the quote and even him asking me do I have my own tires and I said yes I have 2 new ones smh.. luckily tire etc was right up street and they mounted my 2 new tires and balanced the wheels in less than a hour. I think he has amnesia or something because I never had a MANAGER take my info , give me a quote on 2 new tires being mounted and balanced, had a work order created and all , then when you see the wheel , you get smart with me , angry and assume I'm dumb and crazy for thinking I wanted my wheels just balanced with the bad tires on smh read more

Don't use the online appointment scheduler cause "DAVE" will call and tell you they are booked. When i complained and explained the urgency of the issue and he said "If I come in at 5pm and can leave it until 8:30pm it will get taken care of. Got there at 4:45 all they did was the non-urgent oil change and tire pressure, and said we can't look at it more cause we are booked. I complained again and "Dave" said it was looked at.
