Got a new set of tires here and they do a good job. I will say that fairly. However, every time I come here they try to sell something expensive I don't need. I feel like I need to leave this review to warn customers: For example, 1) I took my compact car here for a bent rim, they did great replacing the tire on to my new rim I provided and also sold me two new tires and moved one to the spare. But I had a check engine light and they tried to sell me a fuel injector flush, tune up, and some other stuff. I declined and took to my mechanic and it was a totally different issue. Needed new spark plugs yes, and had carbon build up that had to be cleaned out (Mavis is a tire shop and they wouldn't see that). No need for injector flush. They also tried to sell me new shocks. Selling customers shocks whether or not they need them seems to be a shady policy at Mavis 2) this time on my truck, after they took my tires off, they told me all four shocks and struts need to be replaced at only 75k miles; they wanted to show me but couldn't explain why they were bad. This is garbage. They definitely do not need to be replaced. I said no. I would definitely take it to the dealer to private mechanic to verify these claims, which seem false The fact that Mavis is trying to upsell me on unneeded repairs more than once makes me have a hard time trusting them. If you go here just stick to tires and alignment. Don't believe their other recommendations -- go to your own trusted mechanic! Don't fall for the shocks and struts scam. read more

I would not recommend this place at all. Replaced all 4 tires at a decent price BUT I drove off and realized I was missing 2 lug nuts in two tires. Yes, I should have checked but these are supposed to be professional. They did not align the tires but charged me for it. I resorted going to the dealer because my car was shaking at certain speeds. I took my new 2022 Kia seltos to this place and they change my oil but never change the oil filter due to the fake mechanic use a wrench to try and take off the oil filter he damage the filter be ause he could not remove it. So he left it on with holes in it. And never told us what happend. Now my car is useless because Mavis said it's been 6month. And they are not responsible for what happend. The store manager is wrong and should do the right thing to fix the car because it happend on his watch. I suggest DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE. they will damage it more that it is. AVOID!!! I was quoted up to four different pricing estimates for the SAME oil change, all were insanely outrageous, they kept changing the price on me, it was not trusting and very sketchy. The staff here distribute an extremely uncomfortable presence and seem uneducated. The place overall has a cold atmosphere, and basically this location specifically aims only to upsell products hoping you don't ask questions, and do the minimum amount of labor on your car. Absolutely wonderful experience! I needed to get all four new tires and chose this location based on the fact they had a specific tire that I had my eye on. I unfortunately set a reservation online for the tires without ensuring they had these in stock. I was disappointed to find this out upon arrival but Travis went above and beyond to rectify the situation- offering comparable tires but as I had my heart set on the set, he assured me he would see if he could get them shipped there specifically for me. I was beyond thrilled on this level of service and really appreciated that extra step! Marlon also went to great lengths to let me know when to expect the tires, when they came in (only two days!!) and was incredibly flexible on when I could come back to get them done. This team clearly cares a lot about their customers from start to finish and are truly an asset to your company. I could not have been happier. Son brought his Toyota Tacoma to Mavis in Denville for an alignment. They said they needed to order tie rod ends and he would have to come back. When he got home, the axle was spraying grease all over...when they attempted to remove the tie rod ends with a torch, they melted all the surrounding rubber and plastic parts. He brought it to his normal repair shop, and cost to repair all will be $600. Read all the other reviews...his place should be shut down. read more

I had my brakes replaced here and within a few miles of leaving my wheel was smoking terribly. I returned and they my calipers were stuck. They kept my car 4 additional days to repair. A few days later I noticed they damaged the plastic molding on my car when they jacked it up. I complained and after connecting with their regional manager Gus, he just wasted my time and said there is nothing they will do about it. This is a very poorly run operation. Listen. This place. Is TOP. KNOTCH. Why? The staff. I specifically talked to a gentleman named Jackson. And he? Is exceptional. My situation? I blew out a tire, and damaged my wheel. I got a new wheel on eBay, and have been frantically looking all day today for a tire to match the set I that I currently have. My car is all wheel drive so all the tires have to be identical. And like any car issue, it was pressing. I've got a life to live! Anyways. I needed to find and have the tire installed within two hours. And of course, to make the situation worse. Jackson was somehow magically able to, (not only have this tire in stock.. which no one else in the area had.) get me in and taken care of in my absolutely insane time frame. Not only did he work magic. But he was SO compassionate. I called him on the phone three times I believe? And where he could have very easily been super annoyed with me. He talked me through it, and was so understanding, compassionate, and genuine. While I was a train wreck trying to get this taken care of. I am absolutely blown away right now. So, I had to get my tone rings replaced at a different shop after Mavis took 2 weeks to not fix my car and in fact broke it, left pizza boxes in it, and overcharged me, I talked to their corporate office to see if they could help me out. They said I'd be reimbursed for the additional repairs. In fact, they called me on three separate occasions to reconfirm the details of the incident, and I provided them with three or four sets of the same documents. They did nothing. In the meantime, my brake lines failed because they replaced them incorrectly, using cables three times too long which lead to them bouncing around like crazy and rupturing a few weeks later. Ever lost brake pressure mid-drive? It's not pleasant. Picture a scene from a movie where someone finds out their brake lines have been cut. This place will take your money and break your car. Then, they won't help you when you ask for them to make it right. Then, you find out that the damage was far worse than you thought it was and end up in a life-or-death situation. Don't go to Mavis. During a wicked storm last week I popped my tire. I managed to make it home and had AAA put my spare on (took them less then 10 minutes btw). My husband, who owns a contracting company, offered to get my tire because I've been pressured and upsold before. We ended up picking Mavis because it was local. When he got there, despite there being no customers, he was told to take a seat while the employees chatted. When it was finally his turn he was quoted $125 was a little high but we like supporting local businesses because we appreciate support so whatever. He made it clear that he would install himself, just needed the tire. After waiting about thirty minute his tire was finally ready. At the register he was given an invoice for 197.44. He asked for a breakdown and the man rolled his eyes and printed it out. He was invoiced for installation, balancing and pack with labor (whatever that is). Of course we expected the recycling fee but you would think that would be included in the quote. Not only that but the tire itself was 149.99. My husband hates confrontation almost as much as he hates wasting time so he took the tire and left. We will NEVER do business with Mavis again and we spend about 10K a year in tired (not including the ones I pop). Shady business practices always mean there's more under the surface. We were longtime Apollo Tire customers and we're sorry to see them go but we'll never darken Mavis' door again and neither should you if you don't like being ripped off. Avoid this location like the plague! I scheduled a brake job on a 2020 Subaru Forrester. I dropped off the car and was told 3 hours and they would call to confirm the price. No calls after 3 hours. I called them and got the runaround. Eventually they wouldn't pick up my calls. It turns out they drove the car, unknown to me, to the Dover Mavis to get the work done. I picked it up in Dover after 6 hours. Dover said Denville ordered the wrong parts for the job which caused an additional delay. read more

They told me $39.99 and I reverified that it was for SYNTHETIC Oil. I verified the price at the counter a third time and they said 39.99. Stay away from this place. They are completely incompetent or they are crooks trying to scam people. Not sure which and which one would be worse. I could not give 0 stars as this place is not even good enough to deserve 1 Star. My father was not able to go to his normal place for a simple oil change. Since he was over I recommend to him that we drop off his car at Denville Automotive which is great. However they could not fit him in today. We saw Mavis across the street and decided to give them a try as it was only an oil change. BIG MISTAKE. After we picked up the car it was running rough and the check engine light was on. This was NOT the state it was in when we dropped it off. When we got it back to the house we opened up the hood to see why was going on and we found that 2 (yes 2) spark plug wires had been detached. Seriously WTF? The spark plugs are right above the dip stick for checking the oil but who the hell disconnects spark plugs for an oil change??? After we reattached the spark plug wires we immediately called them up. They denied doing this. After we pushed more he started to deny it less but stated that it would not have been done intentionally. Now this is an older Lexus which has a guard around the spark plug wire caps so this is not something that can just be done by mistake. So that leaves me with 2 possible reasons they did this: 1. They are completely incompetent and disconnected the spark plug wires thinking this is what you do for an oil change 2. They figured they would cause an issue in hopes that he would go back and they would try to trick him out of more money to "fix" the new issue. I honestly don't know which scenario scares me more. I give this location 0 stars. They put holes in our oil filter in October because the mechanic had issues removing it. Left the oil filter as is and had the nerve to charge us as if they had changed the filter. My husband drove to Va., and the car shut off. Unfortunately, we are dealing with having to replace the motor because of their negligence, and do not want to take responsibility for it because it happened 6 months ago. We are still under the 7,500 miles for the next oil change, so how were we supposed to know there was an issue with the car? Thankfully my husband and daughter made it to Va without getting in a serious accident. Imagine if the car would of shut off while driving 75 on the hwy. So because they don't want to take responsibility for fixing an $8,500 motor and oil change with labor, they will now have to pay more for the lawsuit they will have from us. You will be hearing from our lawyer. This is unacceptable. We should of read the reviews before taking it here. This is NOT good customer service. It truly is a shame they took 9 days to tell us to go through our insurance when it was them that did the damage to the car. If we could leave zero stars we would. We took our vehicle here for repairs and after spending a hefty sum the issues were still there. Also they tried to charge us for items they didn't even install!! FRAUDS! We took to another mechanic and we're told even the parts installed were faulty or installed poorly. Mavis was contacted as we'd paid them for a service an expected it to be properly performed and said they would fix it. Also they told us the people originally helping us were fired. Not surprised. A week later an engine light came on and we called asking if they could find out why since they had done so much of the repairs. They told us to drop it off and after arranging transportation for work they called saying they didn't have the tools to figure it out. You would think they would have instructed us to go elsewhere before we wasted more of our time. They were very rude and dismissive. Upon arriving 15 minutes before closing, the door was locked. An associate slowly approached the door to unlock it, once he opened it, he welcomed us and said "better make it quick"....... To back track, called ahead half an hour earlier to make sure they had the battery i needed, they confirmed. The associate, once we got inside, was extremely patronizing, demeaning, condescending, rude, loud, and he interrupted us multiple times. I am a young woman in my early 20s and my mother was with me. He treated us like we were stupid and we had no idea what we were talking about. This business just opened and it's already a time bomb. I dont expect it to be open much longer. Was quoted $59 a tire over phone . I asked for mount & balance the price went to $69 a tire . When I get there they where going charge me $7 per tire for valve stems , made sure they took that off. I missed the extra computer balance , so they hit me with $ 10 a tire . They said tire alignment was free, but they took that away when I complained about extra charges adding up. So the prices for tires are not bad.. went there for an oil change they were mad busy so they said cud u leave ur vehicle overnight will take care of it first thing in the morning. So I did no big deal it's my weekend driver. So the next morning comes no call. I waited a while then decide to call and check. Was told yes no problem vehicle is done. Ok whatever went to go pick it up drove it down the street pulled over and popped the hood the oil was filthy and low. So I called and explained I was told to bring it back. I was assured that the guy changed the oil himself I refused his answer or for them to then offer to change it I asked for and received a full refund. I took my vehicle to another place that day and asked what they think. The mechanics laughed and said no oil was changed in fact it was 2 quarts low and filthy .
