I went in to get my headlight bulbs changed that ideally takes 5 minutes. 50 minutes later after a "courtesy check" I was told all the issues I will encounter soon, along with paying 91 dollars. The technician (not called a mechanic) didnt do the job I requested until the end of the allotted time so then charged me for the labor. I could have waited until Monday to go to my regular mechanic but needed to see when I drive at night over the weekend. They do great for people like me who are desperate to get the job done but expect to overpay and be told your car is falling apart. read more

I dropped off my friend's car at 9:00 am for an oil change and tire alignment, since 9:00 am on a SUNDAY they said they would call me when they were ready, all day I was waiting for the call and I didn't get any call from them, I called them at 4:15 pm of the same day SUNDAY, only to tell me that the car has modified suspension, and they can't even do the stupid oil change and alignment and the car is an Acura Mdx SUV, it's not even that low, like they can't even put something in to lift it up, they had all day, if I didn't call them they might not have called me to tell me such stupid waste of time. read more

Took my 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid into this store because I had about 8 warning lights on and I had inspection coming up. They diagnosed it as being the ABS in the front and once they fixed that all the other lights disappeared. (it's a Ford thing with some of their cars apparently). While they had the car up they noticed my two rear tires were almost bald on one side so I needed to get them replaced. Stephen told me that all 4 tires on the vehicle were the wrong size for my car. When I told him that this store put them on. He immediately took responsibility and said the previous mgr looked at the size of tires on my car instead of looking them up. He recommended a particular tire and told me he was going to comp 2 out of 4 new tires which were $225/each. They were Bridgestone hybrid, with mountain peak for severe winter weather with a 70k mile warranty and told me that he had them on his minivan. He claimed they would be phenomenal in rain as well as in snow, and would have an incredibly smooth ride, and be the best tires I ever owned. Six months later I am coming in for a FREE ROTATION (came with tires @ every 5k miles) and FREE LIFETIME ALIGNMENT and I told him so far he was absolutely correct, albeit I haven't tested them in snow yet. He said when it snows, even if you aren't going out, go out in it. I laughed and told him I would. And suspect I won't be disappointed. So this was my second or third visit to THIS STORE. I came back after what I experienced happening in the store the first time I was there. Without going into detail, I witnessed people who cared about YOU, and not just making money. Firestone Complete Auto in Denville is where I got my new all year round tires put on, April 10, 2023. On June 8th, my front left tire fell off, nearly causing an accident and injury. I heard a noise in my car for many days prior to this incident, but the noise grew louder, in which I made an appointment for the Honda dealer to see what could be wrong with the car. While slowly driving to the Honda dealer, the tire just fell off, shot across the street, and my car tipped and skidded to a stop. The police found the 5 lug nuts together on the road. THE LUG NUTS WERE NEVER TIGHTENED TO MY FRONT RIGHT TIRE. Car got towed by AAA to Honda Dealer. I went back to talk with Maryann, in Firestone about the incident. she said that it could not have been her technicians because they double sign off each time lug nuts are put on. she wanted the report from Honda to be sure it wasn't something like my axil or something of a sort. I went back the next day with the report that all was intact , concerning the wheel base, and they had to fix 2 studs and 2 lug nuts. Maryann took the invoice and said that Firestone will pay the $201 for that service and " that is all we are going to pay, nothing else.". The body of my car ( wing area), has to be fixed at the Auto shop which will cost a lot and I have a $500 deductible. Today, I called Firestone Corporate and they wrote up a claim. Bottom line, Firestone in Denville, put my life and poss others in great danger, and I would not ever want something like this to happen to others. Please be careful doing business there. read more

Had snow tires put on my spare wheels here. Recently went to pull them out of storage and one was completely flat. Brought the tire to a local mechanic to have it looked at turns out they broke the TPMS off and just threw the tire on and called it a day. Horrible customer service. If you break something just admit it and fix it. Will never go back here. read more

I got a screw in my BMW's back right Pirelli tire last week and went to a tire place around the corner from me first. They wouldn't patch it because it was a run flat and quoted me $328. Called another firestone and the guy who answered said it was ok until I reconfirmed it was a run flat and said "are you sure," at which point he said he wouldn't. Then I called this firestone and had an intelligent conversation regarding how I could bring the car in and they would check. Third time's the charm. I made an appointment but they couldn't take me the same day so I made it for the following Monday. Worst case scenario they said the tire would cost me $250, already a huge plus over the other place. I was greeted right away when I walked in and there were a lot of people waiting. It took an hour and 20 minutes while they worked on my tire. The waiting room wasn't overly spacious but they did have some chairs. I didn't check to see if they had Wi-Fi. No one provided me with any updates so I had to double check that they were in fact able to patch it rather than having to replace it. The patch itself was a little on the pricier side, I had been previously quoted at other places at $14 and $15 but it came to $21 after tax so not too much more but more. Still a lot less than a tire replacement so I can't complain too much. When I got my car back the warning lights were still on and I had to have them reset it. Not sure why it wasn't done already. After my car reset on my way home, the patched tire's PSI was higher than the others so they didn't match that properly. Overall it wasn't the best experience but I'm glad they were able to do it when others wouldn't. read more

Went to fix Firestone brand tire leaking air.  It was covered under roadside warranty. They said the leak was the stem - all fixed and got the car back without the tire stem cap.   Two days later, low tire pressure signal again and fixed tire was low, so I made another appt and while Firestone was fixing, asked can they return my tire cap.  2nd time - all fixed and took my tire cap from my other back tire and put fixed tire. Ugh!! Two days later, low tire pressure again.  Now I'm beyond, since it was Sunday, I told the clerk about my tire and asked for Maryanne, the Manager to call me.  Never received one. I needed this tire fixed so I went back to the West Caldwell Firestone where I purchase them last year. West Caldwell found a nail on their 1st try, replaced it and pleasantly, I have all my tire caps without asking. read more

NP$ got caught in a bit of trouble today while driving from one restaurant to yelp, to another. I had a bit of a fender bender and instantly thought, "oh brother!" So, as the story goes, as quickly as it happened.. I hit a bump in the road, and needed service so I made search on map-quest.. A service station I could not find, I withered and my eyes filled by tears.. I turned off on a random exit, and there behold the solution to my fears! This particular store stood there, proud, promising and ready for my car to give care.. I walked inside and was gently greeted, and thought "well this place is mighty fair" Store management pulled me over to show me the issues.. I was so nervous about cost, and prepared for crying into mine tissues! But assured me he did, the job would be well done.. When he read me the cost, I exclaimed "are you sure my car matches this one?" The cost was a mighty great deal, and the workers were professional and efficient.. I am more than confident that with any car troubles, this store will be more than sufficient! At the start of the day, I hit a hole and became sad.. But thanks to this event, I found a new car shop and for that I am oh just so glad! Need new tires, new brakes; car can run a bit cleaner? 11.27 @ 11.35am made appt. by phone with Firestone Manager Maryanne, for a slow tire leak.She stated it will be 1-2 hrs before they can get to it. I arrived 15 min later., She now said will be ready at 5:30-6:30pm. My wife now has to pick me up.I called Maryanne a few hrs later to add tire rotation since my car will be there for the rest of the day. I p/u my  car at approx 6:30pm from Shamani. (A very nice and polite young man).He Explained your free tire rotation was done even though it's  not on your paperwork. I said the paperwork is still needed for warranty proof.Shamami said I understand that, but they all went home.I said I don't know what you mean by that? Shamani said your rotation was added later(something about the ticket) . We brought your car back in and I don't know how to add it to your paperwork.Call  tomorrow,it will be added.I called Maryanne the next day explaining what Shamani asked me to do.She  said,can't get you in till 12.04 Mon.I said,I only need the paperwork.Are you saying the rotation never got done? She only said, is this time good for you?On 12.04  while checking in I asked Maryann again about the rotation on 11.27.Apparently not she said.Of Course this was disturbing to me .I then  asked her to add wheel alignment  to the rotation.She said it was done this past Sept. Firestone in Denville New Jersey is the worst automotive repair shop I've ever encountered. Imagine the three stooges working on your car then gaslighting you that they did the work correctly! I got four new tires and other work done there recently and almost nothing was done right if even done at all. I had four new tires installed here which were obviously not installed correctly and kept leaking after installation despite numerous repair attempts at this same facility. After each repair attempt I was told their "mechanic" addressed the problem but to my horror my low pressure warning light kept going off and I'd wake up with the same flat tire. When I suggested maybe one or more of the new tires was defective and couldn't hold proper inflation things just started getting worse for me and the crazy woman little self absorbed little brat princess apparently running the show here stopped taking my calls or hung up the phone on me. In addition, my car started experiencing a death wobble at highway speeds after letting them service my car which may have been the result of imbalanced new tires or sabotage after I complained. I believe this place is run by a vindictive nutty crazy person who should be institutionalized at nearby Greystone Psychiatric Hospital. Rather than stand by their work they will not take your phone calls, gaslight and if confronted perform fake attempts at correcting original mistakes just to make you go away. I advise you that you may be putting yourself and family at risk if you patronize this facility and let them work on your car. Like mine, Firestone Denville's incompetence or intentional sabotage may cause your vehicle to fail at critical moments thereby causing severe harm. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! I never bother writing reviews, but I felt so inclined to do so after utilizing them. The manager, MaryAnn, is an absolute sweet heart and super helpful. I quoted four different tire service centers and MaryAnn came in HUNDREDS under the multiple Mavis quotes and a private garage. I needed an early appointment first thing Monday morning. She had an afternoon slot available but stated she would call if something opened up earlier, and she came through!!! Let me start off by saying as automotive enthusiast and DIY guy, I only bring my vehicles (bikes and cars) to the shop when I have to. That means, I'll bring them in when: 1. I either don't have the proper equipment/tools to complete the job or 2. the job requires a skill I don't have. I researched and purchased a set of tires from Tire Rack to bring to Firestone (Denville) for installation and balance. Additionally, it was also time for an alignment after this brutal winter. Ross was the technician at Firestone who performed the work. Let me start off by saying I do not trust most mechanics. From personal experiences, they take short cuts to try to get the work done as quickly as possible. I'm sure they have quotas to meet and bosses to please. Because of this, I always go over their work with a fine tooth comb. Ross is a different breed. The car I brought in was my beater/train station car. A 19 year old GS400. Caster cannot be adjusted for the 2nd gen GS4. If the caster is way off, that means the LCA (lower control arm) is probably bent. After performing the alignment, Ross showed me the print-out results and pointed out the caster is off a tiny bit, but he cannot adjust it because there isn't an adjustment for it in my car. Glad he's honest. When I got home, the first thing I did was checked the lug nuts with my trusty torque wrench. They were properly torqued to 80ft/lbs. (The manual calls for 76ft/lbs, but I personally torque to 80 at home as well). I was pleasantly surprised as most other mechanics would just "snug" them back on with an impact gun. If you're lucky, they'll use a torque stick. If not, they'll probably be on there at 180ft/lbs. Yeah...good luck getting them off on the side of the road if you have a flat. The alignment was spot on as well. Drives like a brand new car (which I expected it to). In the past, the clowns at other shops didn't do a perfect job centering the steering wheel. Or if they did, they didn't recheck the steering after performing the toe adjustment...causing it to be out a few degrees. Which meant I had to waste time returning to the shop to have them dial it in properly. I actually had to return to Firestone today...but that's because I was so impressed with Ross' work ethics I returned to buy him lunch. He did everything I would've done if I was working on my own car. No shortcuts taken. The shop itself is great as well. I called ahead to see what equipment they used. I was told Hunter. I've had bad experiences with other shops that use cheaper Atlas and Bosch machines. Heck, even the Snap-On machines aren't that great. Their prices are competitive and they did NOT try to upsell me on anything. I'm always glad no one tries to sell me blinker fluid....because you know...blinker fluid is expensive sometimes. In conclusion, I trust these guys. They do a great job and will work on your vehicle as if they're working on their own personal vehicles. When they took the car for a test drive after the work was done, it was driven responsibly. No donuts, no burn outs, no line lock, no drifting. I sat directly in front of the service guy and was completely ignored as three more customers walked in and got served; I sat and waited to see how long this was going to go on. I was ready to lay out $800. The manager offered me an additional $100 discount when I called later to nicely complain. I went down the highway to EDT and got the same deal for around $150 less and awesome service. In all fairness the manager was extremely sorry and apologetic. People die and go to heaven everyday with the best of intentions, but guess what..I get one shot to make my money. You get one shot to make yours. read more

I went to Firestone today for some repairs and recommendations. Maryanne provided great costumer service. She was very polite. She showed me the issues that were occurring with my vehicle and explained everything to me. Since I have an older vehicle, she gave me different options and recommendations. I decided to get a set of tires, which weren't on site and had to be ordered. They arrived approximately an hour later, making the wait much less than I thought it would be. I have used this shop for the past 3 years and boy, something major happened to my car after a simple oil change, each time. Never go this place, and NEVER OPEN THEIR CREDIT CARD, here's why. If they cheat on price (which happened to me, a service of $30 was charged to be $240 ) you'll never be able to claim that back, while your Bank credit card values you and probably will close the case on your favor. Purchased oil change, air filter and cabin filter. They put back 3/6 screws holding my air filter in place, reused oil filter and broke the cabin air filter clip in my jeep. Now the cabin filter falls and makes sound when A/C or heat is on. read more

I had the most strange experience getting my tires replaced. The good part about this is that I could schedule my appointment online, for a time convenient. The online quote sums up all the discounts I could get minus the sales tax. I walked up to the most silent customer care representative I ever came across (it would be as if I were standing there ;) ). I had to ask him for everything while he was busy punching keys. I asked him that I would be keeping the old tires since they are usable, and to take off the scrap tire recycling fee. He said ok and did not. I looked at the initial printout and asked again and then he did. Then he said I could get an additional 30 off. I asked how and all he said was i would need your id and ssn. huh? After eliciting more information, it turns out it's a credit application... which I did anyway because I thought why not save a few $$. Then he tries to give me a free alignment package; I declined, so they decided to not even check the alignment (which was listed as a free service). It took two hours, few coffees and a bunch of women's magazines (why!?) to get the change. In the end, they said all done and forgot to give my old tires. Had to ask for that too. Looks like the place is more apathetic than a ripoff. Wouldn't mind going there as long as I'm sure what I want. read more

I posted this comment in March, 2015- however, it seems to have been deleted. It is no longer on the page. I had been a loyal customer until I realized what a total rip-off shop this place is. They have even cost me more money by performing shoddy work! I even became a "Premier Rewards Gold" preferred customer because I spent so much money at the shop. This was supposed to include the following services free of charge: Tire Rotations, Electrical System Check, Alignment Check, Brake Inspection, Tire Inspection and Air Pressure Check. These services were not performed. I had to ask the customer service rep about it. He did not even know what I was talking about. Some loyalty program. The rep aren't even aware of it and you have to ask for discounts. Additionally, I had to replace my brake pads. I replaced them before with Firestone. Any subsequent brake pads were supposed to be free. The tech tried to charge me for them- I had to remind him they were supposed to be free. If you don't remind them, they will not honor any discounts. They also replaced a wheel bearing and created a WHOLE mess of electrical problems in my car. I had to spend an extra $600 to get it fixed at another shop. I certainly will NOT be returning. I advise you to stay away. read more

I had my car taken in for an emergency visit right after work as my coolant fluid was sprayed all over the engine, causing quite a bit of smoke. The Denville shop was thankfully open until 7pm so I was able to drop it off immediately, which I was very thankful for. The technician and sales staff were very friendly and kept me informed every step of the way. They went over my options and their recommendations, which I consulted with my Mechanical Engineer hubby and referenced online, and it all matched up. This was one of the better repair experiences I've ever had and I feel like I can trust them to take care of my car. November 13th of this year I was at the Location in North Smithfield Ri. and received service replacing my Brake Fluid and a Coolant Flush and Oil Change. I made an appointment to come back and look at my front differential to get an estimate for repairs to a leaking seal. 05 Chevy Silverado with a lot of miles on it I'd expect to have to do repairs but what happened this morning was ridiculous. November 20th 2018 I returned to have them look at the differential and also mentioned that the brake peddle had gotten a little soft since they changed my brake fluid so I suggested possible air in the line. 2 hours latter after handing them my keys the Service writer called my name and commenced to tell me I need Calipers, Rotors, Pads and a front end alignment with no estimate on the repair I came to for. All this coming to over $900.00 bucks. This wasn't what I came in for and why did they not notice this last week when I was there for the brake fluid exchange. It's made absolutely no sense to me I suddenly needed all of these brake parts replaced. The service writer ask me to go outside with him because he wanted to show me the brakes. He started the truck and pumped the brake peddle and it went to the floor. I told him I need to talk the repairs over with the wife but actually my head was spinning because I knew right then I was being robbed and I'd get back to him about it. He seemed to not like that answer and in front of a room full of people says to me I can't drive my truck like this. I had driven my Wife to work this morning a 50 mi. round trip and then about 10-15 miles to Firestone and I had noticed a bit of softness occurring when depressing the brake peddle but before I had taken the truck in to be serviced last week there was nothing going on noticeably in the way the brakes functioned or malfunctioned they worked fine. Then he brought up the left caliper was locking up and is why I complained the steering was pulling to the left. I never mentioned this pulling but did state that the steering was resisting me in tight places like parking lots turning to the left. I told them to have a look at the steering gear box area. The trouble with the brakes now after taking it to Firestone is that they are completely malfunctioning. I've only had the truck for a couple months and that means it recently passed a state inspection, brakes and all!! So now my truck is being held hostage for the work I very reluctantly had done today. I have no way to get back there to get the truck until tomorrow and so the truck will be sitting over night in the parking lot. I'm prepared to pay for the repairs money is not the issue here yet it is. I am feeling that this situation is very weird and unethical to say the least that Firestone is resorting to these types of business practices to increase their profit margins. For some person totally lacking in customer relations has been given the reins and has no idea what they're doing. Maybe it isn't his fault but the fault of corporate for not giving the young guy proper training on not only doing repair work but dealing with customers in an ethical way so we do not feel we're being seriously ripped off. Well since the truck wasn't operational after taking to Firestone for an unrelated issue it seems they damaged the braking system somehow and rendered it to malfunction. The only thing I could have done is to have it towed home but instead I told them to fix it but I was very upset about it. So the first trip cost us $257.00 for the fluid changes and by the way the antifreeze really didn't look to be new. Today we picked up the truck after the brake repair and that total was $832.00. So here it is I took the truck in originally for a fluid change and ended up spending a grand and yet do I have the original problem solved with the steering resisting left while in parking lots or turning very slowly, NO I DO NOT!. I was told since it was raining he couldn't tell whether the seals were leaking on the front differential, what a crock. And I was told the steering issue was from the brake calipers locking up.
