His crew is not too shabby either ;) I know that when I utilize this location for my tire/under carriage car care needs, that I am truly being taken care of. They have always been honest and fair to me, my family and friends that I have suggested to go their way. I use to live closer and take 'Sally the Saturn' there for years. I moved more south shore and purchased a new vehicle and maybe only popped in there once...but they still remembered me/Sally and genuinely ask about us. I introduced them to the new low profile beast 'Vanessa the Veloster', after a blow out. Yah that's right I name my cars...maybe a bit cheesy, but when you buy cars they become part of your family with their own unique personality...well at least for me :) Back to Russ and Mavis of Franklin Avenue/Franklin Square and how amazing they are. Before going on a road trip to AC at end of year I decided probably best to drop oil and check the tires. Right?!?...and thank goodness I did. I'm old enough that you think I would have learned my lesson. I can never go to a Mavis for anything where I don't come out also needing $1,000 worth of other stuff. Went for an inspection and they insisted I needed four tires, an alignment and new wiper blades. The showed me one worn tire, I should have asked to see all four and that's on me and I'm pretty sure my wiper blades just needed to be cleaned, but hey, anything to pad the bill, right? I wonder if I'd had my husband bring it in instead if this would have happened? BTW, who takes ALL FOUR TIRES off during an inspection? I've never seen this before. Russ is a stand-up guy! I ended up at Mavis because the dealership I took my car to suggested I needed a new tire due to a nail close to the tire wall. The dealership wanted to charge me over $800 for a new tire. Russ took a look at the tire and pulled out the nail. The nail didn't even puncture the tire. Called made an appointment, it was explained the job would take less than an hour. Went in on said appointment, it was again stated the job would take less than an hour. 4 new tires, balanced and aligned. Received a call 1 hour 45 min later with the guy trying upcharge. I explained to him I just wanted the tires and was on a time constraint. He proceeded to argue with me about how busy they were and he wont be done anytime soon. I want to start my review by saying prior to this experience I never had an issue with Mavis and there staff. However, on Sunday, July 30th I experienced terrible customer service to the point that I'm still aggravated about it weeks later. I brought my vehicle in for an inspection. I would like to state that I am young female attempting to get a service on my fairly new vehicle by myself. After 3 and Half Hours (I was not informed on the amount of time that would be taking out of my day) I received a call from the mechanic stating that I need to replace my 2 front tires. Ironically, I recently replaced my front tires at mavis a little over a year ago. The tires in the front have less than 10,000 miles on it. I kindly disagreed with the gentlemen on the phone that those tires are in good shape and I don't believe they need to be replaced. As I approached the mechanic who was now explaining to my father who I asked to meet me at the shop because I felt like I needed a man to be with me for the mechanic to respect me that my tires need to be rotated. That was not the original story I received over the phone. When I explained to the gentleman that I have high quality tires on my vehicles and I am very aware of the brand but if the tire is poor quality it is the one that mavis sold me that's the issue. At this point the mechanic became frustrated with me and tried to change the script and tell me that because I hit a pot hole my front axil is unaligned. Also false.. I hit the pot hole causing me to replace the tire back in March 2022 and then got my car inspected BY MAVIS shortly after and they passed my car. At this point I felt violated and like I was clearly being SCAMMED. The mechanic told a kind gentleman to back my car out so I can take it and leave. Clearly my tires were safe enough for me to drive home. I was able to go to a competitors shop near by and get an inspection in less than 30 mins with 0 problems. The most unprofessional and rip off company I have ever dealt with. They completely ruined my sons car. When I called to speak to the regional director, named MICHAEL BOSS- He was another unprofessional asshole who had no sympathy. Wasn't even apologetic for the bad service I received. He instead told me that "we watched the cameras" but decline to show me the footage. Their idiot mechanic put the wrong fluid for the brakes. And I ended up changing proportional valve and master cylinder along with reservoir at a different shop. Like how dumb can your 40 year experienced tech and you as a regional director can be? BE AWARE- do not go here!! They charged me $900 and didn't even fix my son's car- instead endangered my son's life!!!! We changed calipers. Got them new and did a brake flush. My son took a test drive and complaint about the issue at which point he was turned down for help because they said the parts needed to be broken in And now after a month or so when I came back they blamed it on my son for not coming back the next day of service being performed. Went to this place to get my tires rotated with the help of Tory and Russell jr I got my tires balanced didn't know I needed it but they informed me of certain speeds the tires would wobble and it was true when on the highway going 50+ mph the steering wheel wiggled after the tire rotation and balance I felt more safe on the highway definitely would recommend friends and family the staff is great and informative they really know they're stuff read more

This place is awful. Messed up hood cord/latch mechanism twice. I bought 4 tires with a contract there about a year ago, since it was close to my house and they are open on weekends. During first tire rotation, I asked them to change oil. Several days later, I noticed the hood was cracked and not closing all the way. I didn't complain, as I wasn't sure it was Mavis's fault. Ever since I had trouble opening the hood, but mechanics told me it's easy when accessing from under the car. So one way or the other I had my oil changed done at 2 of my favorite places over the year. This weekend, May 26, 2014, I went back for oil change and tire rotation. They called me saying they couldn't open the hood, and it took their mechanic 45 min to give up with this venture. Again, I told them not to worry and just do tire rotations. When I got home, my car alarm wouldn't engage, b/c the hood was not latching. No matter in how many ways I tried locking in and with what force. I also checked the cord that opens hood and it was completely disconnected. This place messed up my car twice. I tried calling headquarters to complain, so far nothing but "we'll call you back". The worst place ever. Get the tires, but stay there and watch them do it. Take photos of your car from all sides and inspect when you take it home. Watch them work, don't leave your car at Franklin sq Mavis. And better yet, DON'T GO THERE!!!! I never write any reviews, this is my first. DON'T GO to MAVIS read more

My only complaint is the store is dirty and could benefit from a cleaning or a dusting especially since customers sit for 30 mins or longer to get there vehicle serviced. Good for brakes and tires and the staff is friendly and pricing is more than fair, but was burned when Mavis did higher end work. After having them do calipers my car developed a knock by the tire area. Brought it back and they called it a suspension issue and I paid for more work. Noise was still there after the work and I brought it back again and they said nothing was wrong, it was "something loose under the seat." So I took the car to the dealer who found that one of the the calipers Mavis installed was defective. Not that the work was done poorly, just that the part was defective. Dealer replaced the caliper and the noise went away. What bothers me is that the same noise which brought me back to Mavis 2x and cost me $$ for more work (which was probably unnecessary) was found and fixed immediately by the dealer...requiring me to pay again for a part which Mavis should have realized was defective when I brought the car back after the noise started. read more

I have all 4 tires replace at this located right before Christmas weekend and I found there a small cut on the rear tire that following Monday and I went back there. At first they try to say I drove the tire into somethign causing the cut but I didn't even drive that weekend and I told him they can check my milage so they say they going to change it as a customer service courtesy. A week later I was doing my oil change myself and I found the same spot cut tire on the front now and it's facing inside so you can't see it unless u go underneath your car. What a dishonest company! Free reading I have been going to Mavis for years on franklin ave in franklin sq . I have had tires and breaks done on several vehicles my last experience was very bad . Long story short I purchased a brand new truck I brought it to Russ on franklin ave I asked Russ for the biggest tire he had available for my truck and rim they put the tires on I paid them and left . I went for my second tire rotation they told me I needed new tires only had 9000 miles on them well Mavis wound up warrentee the tires I paid mounting and balancing . I return to the store several months later to rotate my tires again and 9000 miles later I need new tires again I called Mavis and also BF Goodrich The technician figured out that they put the wrong tire on my rim my rims were not wide enough for the tire that they chose which made it ware out faster so the technician agree to giving me one last set of tires it was either I put the stock tires back on that stock rim or I had to supply them with the rim that would fit the new tire so I called back to move forward putting regular tires on my rims and the district manager Michael boss was very nasty and basically hung up on me telling me he helped me once aginst his better decision and not helping me the second time . Before I spoke to michael Boss I was threatened by an assistant manager on camera while corporate watched this happen on video not a great place or people to deal with . They wil definitely upsell you on as much as they can get away with so buyer beware! You should get a second opinion if you don't know when they're trying to pull a fast one. When I bought new tires they tightened one of the lug nuts so tight it was almost impossible to get off even with a massive 25" Breaker Bar! Good thing I checked them and re-torqued them to original manufacturers specs because it could have been dangerous driving around with them on improperly not to mention that it WILL cause damage to them and warp the rotors not before long. If you have to go here, stick to getting hopefully a good price on tires, and get out and just hope they just do minimal damage. LOL! read more

I often bring my car to my dealership service center but since the management keeps on changing (and so are the quality) I tried this place to change my 4 tires. I told the manager that I was actually skeptical to be here because of the reviews but I trusted my guts and I'm glad they didn't disappoint me. Although, there's is another fee that I'm not expecting, I didn't mind because I guess they have to make money and made me believe that I got to do it. I had an oil change and brakes done on my vehicle in January, 2109. Last Saturday I had a friend check my oil. It was 1/4" above the full line. He told me that it was too much oil and it could harm the engine. I then called Mavis and they said to bring it in. I spoke with Joe at the front desk. When I told him of the issue the replied "why would we put in too much oil". Again, I'm sure it was a mistake!!! I just wanted it remedied. He said it really didn't matter and if he had to drain it, he would have to drain it all and charge me for an oil change. He then spoke with Russ, who was already syphoning out the excess oil. They make a mistake and they wanted me to pay for it. He made me feel that I was even wrong in bringing it back. I have been going to this Mavis for a long time. Do Not Buy your Tires at Mavis! I'm a long time customer who has gone to multiple locations, I purchased tires and paid for their tire protection warranty. Two tires were leaking air, both had nails in them. One was a half inch from side wall the other approximately an inch. They plugged both tires even though anything that close to the side wall are supposed to be replaced. If the tire wasn't under warranty they would tell you it's illegal to plug it !
