Horrible Service, Apparently, fixing a hole in a tire takes about an hour and a half to fix when it could be done in about 10 minutes. Needed to go places but never got an opportunity to get a rental car for the day, I would definitely, take your business elsewhere, otherwise you will be waiting for a simple fix that can be done in a short period of time, value is ok, but needs to be more efficient and tell you when it will be possibly done. read more

This location is run very poorly. I took my car in and they said they would order a tire and call me when ready. A few weeks passed and heard nothing from them. I went back in and found out they did order the tire but forgot to call me to let me know. I then booked an appointment in person. I then went at my appointments's date and time. The rude guy behind the counter said there was no appointment (even though he was the person I spoke to a few days earlier in person). He recommended the best tires for the performance I was looking for, I was able to schedule the service through him, the process was smooth and easy. I brought it back, they kept my car 3 days to fix it. they offered no refund or coverage for my rental car AMD I later noticed they damaged my side molding when they lifted the car. Terrible service. Terrible customer service! They treat you poorly if you have an accent. Got a nail in my Tesla Y tire, went there yesterday. Man with the goatee beard treated me very poorly from the beginning, when I asked for a quote to change my tire, he simply shook his head and said he was too busy, wouldn't even look at me and completely ignored my questions from there on as if I wasn't even there. Another customer saw this and looked baffled as well, there was absolutely no need to be this rude. This is the second time I try this place in our town and am mistreated by the same individual. I recently brought my car to Mavis for something very small and they were very helpful and truly honest. I decided when I needed a set of tires which was about 1 week later, that I would give them a try. I am a Costco member and they had tires I wanted on sale, but to support them for their honesty, I ordered the tires from them at a higher price. I waited a week, following up a couple times and was told they would arrive on Thursday. I let them know it needed them done as soon as possible, because I had Summer tires and the forecast was for cold temperatures owing in a few days. Thursday came and I got a call that they didn't arrive, but they would be in Friday evening. Turns out they did come in Thursday and I'm not sure why they lied to me, but they did. I received a call early Friday morning with some good news bad news bs. I was told they came in, but their equipment couldn't mount them because of their special size. Now the Costco sale was over and I wasted 5 days waiting for them to tell me this story. Mavis is dead to me and if you want a good price in a reasonable timeframe, I suggest you look elsewhere. I got somewhat lucky as I really need the tires and I was able to get them at Steve's Tire in Bridgewater. Yes I paid more, but they got the exact tire I wanted in 2 hours and installed them in an hour. Steve's will now get all of my family's business, they are very accustomed to working on performance cars like mine. read more

Set up appointment to have all 4 tires replaced. Tires from another manufacturer were installed under the pretext of being an upgrade. Monitoring pressure system light turned on on my way home! It's been on ever since and the tires don't seem to keep pressure. Returned for the 25 mile checkup an was told to come another day. I needed new tires and an oil change for my 2004 Honda Civic. I went through the online portal and scheduled the work a week ahead of time. I received a call the next day to confirm the appointment. I was able to drop my car off in the morning and leave the key in their drop box. By the end of the work day, they completed the work and I was able to pick my vehicle up. The tires were extremely affordable and they hooked me up with an oil change coupon that saved me a bit of cash. Overall, I'm happy with the work. I've had no issues since. read more

I booked a reservation 10:00 am two replace one tire. The amount was $185.00 and this was confirmed.Arrived at around 09:50 Am the clerk stated there was nothing that i booked for service even after i showed him a print out. So that was a waste of time. He told me one hour or at the most 1 hour 30 minutes. Waited until 11:00 car was in the parking lot. Went to a local bar and restaurant it was 01:15 PM i called he told me my car was next ! at around 01:45 my car was finally done one tire replaced.The cost was $207.00 with taxes ,mind you the tire sales for $150 to $160 at the most . The price was not the problem i thought i was receiving fast service or at least according to there time limit not even close .Pep Boys is much faster ,there price is what they say and even give you freebies .I will never take my cars there again bad experience. read more

Hillsborough - Absolute total nightmare. My struts failed which led to my tires being ruined. I brought it to Meineke. The technician replaced the struts and tires. On the way home the engine and brake lights came on. I drove cautiously and the brakes totally went. The next day I had to pay for a tow service to take the car back to the Hillsborough facility. The supervisor told me that when the technician put in the struts he accidentally cut the brake line. As I drove out of the parking lot, I had almost no brakes. The technician did not properly bleed the brake line (I knew that because my dad taught me something about car repairs). Worse I allege the district manager messed up my credit card by overstating my income (alledgedly - probably so Mavis could ring my bill up - this is pure fraud on their part). Total incompetence could have cost me my life. Total faud (allegedly) on part of the district manager. Total neglect on part of the New York headquarters that failed to call me back after I went back the third time to get the brakes bleed. Total failure for corporate training - second Mavis that insisted my starter needed replacing - you dummies - my dad taught me how to check for signs of the starter going ( listen for a clicking sound). I was told to drop off my vehicle early since they are first come first serve, I got there around 9am and I am sitting here 15 minutes till closing still waiting for an alignment, apparently their attitude towards the situation was that i got lucky, they tried to hold my car till the next day. I have my summer tires mounted and balanced (and likewise 6 months later the winter tires) for two cars and have been coming to Hillsborough Mavis for years. They have always been very accommodating. What has worked best for me is to drop the car in advance and they call that day or the next when ready. Works like clockwork. The price is very competitive and less expensive that at the dealer. I understand some appointment time's are not realistic, I adjust my schedule to make appointments. I had made a reservation on Friday 6/28/19 at 8:45 am for a tire rotation Sunday 9:30 am, at 9:42 am I received a call confirming my reservation from the store saying show up at 9:00 am they can try and start my car early. Sunday at 9:00 am I was inline with 10 other people once I got to the counter Chris was ready to tell me they had 16 cars ahead of me, As I said I made a reservation and it was confirmed, again Chris said that they 16 cars and it would be a long wait. My 2008 Nissan Altima needed new tires. I came back to this Mavis because I was happy with the set I purchased four years ago. I wanted a specific brand which was available according to the website. However, my son was told that their warehouse only had two. Chip, the manager, offered to give 4 Pirelli tires for the same price. Not a bad deal, right? They also found that the car needed the brake and steering wheel fluid flushed and front struts and rear shocks. Wait what? Ok did some research. Car does have 200k+ miles so we'll change them. Get a phone that when removing the rear shock a bolt broke and needed a new part, blah blah blah. Part won't be in until Friday. Ok. This is Wednesday. Get a call today at 5:24 that the car is ready. WOW! Awesome, right? Get down there. Park next to the Altima. I'm looking at the tires and they look like hell. Dirty, ok. But scraped, marked up as if they had been driven for months. I'm really upset because I'm paying $600+ after install, balance and alignment. I go get Chip. He tells me they don't sell used tires. Why do they look like this? I could have my guys shine them up. Yeah you do that. I'm looking at these tires. Looking at these tires. I decide to check the tire date. Yup. Every tire has a date of manufacture. These Pirelli's had a date of 0118. The first number represents the week. The second number represents the year. This means that these tires were MADE in the first week of the year 2018. So these tires have been sitting for 30 months! Tires have about a six year expiration. These were almost half way to bring expired. Upon further inspection I see little cracks in the rubber on the passenger side front. The employee returns to "shine" the tires. I told him don't bother because I'm not taking them. I proceed inside to talk to Chip. He is now holding what he says are the stickers removed from the tires to prove to me they are new. I told him they are over two and a half years old. He continues to tell me they are new. I told him I didn't care because they were 2.5 years old. Then he asks what I want to do. I said I want something comparable. He brings out a brand called Blacklion. I said I've never heard of them so no thanks. Again what would you like to do? I said well, I could take the car home like this, buy my tires, and bring it back so you can replace them. Oh we can't let you leave with them. Ok. Then what are you going to do? He can out with a Continental Procontact and says I have four of these. As I'm looking at them he brings out a Mavis brand. I told him I would take the Continentals for an even swap and we would wait...even though the date on them was 0819. That's February 2019. Now we wait for the employee to put the tires on. Now he knows we are waiting. He's talking to his fellow coworkers. And talking. And talking. Two cars came in, were worked on, and left and we were still waiting. Ok. I'm patient. He finally pulls up with the car chewing on a piece of pizza. He jumps out of the car. I said thanks. He said you're welcome but in an impatient tone. Ok whatever. Go have your pizza. I look at the dates on the tires. Remember it was 0819. Yes three of them are. The front driver's side is 2919. They were just as filthy. You couldn't take a few minutes to clean them? You had the cleaner becaus the other guy had gone to get some for the Pirelli's. Paying was fun. I had talked to Chip before I agreed to do the work. It was going to be just under $2000. Don't worry, he says, I'll apply coupons and the price down. Hey thanks, Chip. I go to pay. It's $2020.40. Hey Chip how about those coupons. Oh well I have to check the internet. Ok Chip please do. I had spoken to Neil and he said if I apply for the Mavis card I can get 35% off. Oh no you can get 25% off on the shocks and struts. Ok. Oh look there's also a $10 off the alignment. By the way it said on your website you give 10% for essential workers. I'm not aware of that. I searched and sure enough right on the home page of his location's website, there it was. Well I'm a teacher and I work at Lowe's. Ok. Now do I trust that they did the work they say they did? I'm going to check the fluids tomorrow since my son has the car. I'm hoping my regular mechanic can take a look underneath within the next few days. None of this was necessary. I know you wouldn't pay for nor put 2.5 year old tires on your car. Why are you trying to sell them to me? To boot. I asked if my info was in his system. He said no. It goes by license plate number. They tend to take advantage of people by suggesting maintenance work that's sometimes not even required for the car. This has happened on multiple occasions but this time around, they really messed up. We took in the car with a problem, they charged us over $600 for maintenance ( but never once mentioned that the maintenance work had nothing to do with the original problem-- the reason why we had brought the car to these "experts" in the first place). When we went to pick up the car, they never mentioned that the problem was never fixed, they said the car was good to go! First time I was here, I needed four new tires. Shockingly, there was no line. Dropped the car off first thing in the morning, and didn't hear back until late afternoon. Given that they were replacing all four tires, I'm alright with them taking the whole day to do the work. I got those tires 6/2019. It's now 8/2019 and I'm back because my tire pressure light came on yesterday. So, this morning (Sunday), I get here at 9:08 (place opens at 9), and there was already a line of ten people. I'm not going to hold it against the place for being popular, but why only have one person working the desk? I've been standing in line for ten minutes, and I still have four people ahead of me. The person at the desk is doing the best he can, but when he's checking people in, checking their tires, and answering phones, it's a lot for just one person. Taking into account the wait, the fact that I have to come back for them to check on work that was completed only two months ago, as well as what will assuredly be a full day's wait for my car, I can't recommend this place unless you have plenty of time to wait and don't mind coming back a second time to have them examine work you thought was completed on your car. By the way - I waited until I made it to the front to update how long I stood in line (as well as everyone else). First started waiting at 9:08, didn't make it to the desk until 9:42. read more

The staff were courteous and they did get the job done. However, if you choose Mavis, get there as early as possible because they don't honor their appointments. I had a 9:30 am appointment to get new tires. I arrived about five minutes early to find there were 17 people in the queue ahead of me. If the website had told me it was first come first served, I would have simply arrive at opening time. So an appointment I was expecting to take maybe 2-3 hours of my Saturday took pretty much the whole day. I came back just before closing to find my truck still on the rack and no one working on it! Asked if they could read a code and the counter guy said that I would have to leave the car till Monday and it was$118 to diagnose it. I dislike their business model. They don't seem to be there to help. Rather, they seem to be working the angles to squeeze those extra bucks out of the client. They are an official dealer for Continental, but they are so interested in selling their own tire hazard warranty, that they don't tell you about Conti's. The tire stocking fee is a scam. It allows them to advertise tires at cheap prices but that's not what you pay. Kind of like Ticketmaster's "convenience" fees. Not happy. read more

I brought my car in for an oil change and to check the brakes... When they called they said my front calipers were bad and one side was ceased and wanted to do front brake pads, rotors and calipers and the back brake pads and rotors... for over $1400!! I declined the service and the guy at the front desk was acting very snippy and had a nasty attitude with me that I declined the brake service!! He was yelling at me that the caliper was ceased and that they couldn't even get to the brakes without getting the caliper off...Well, luckily for me, I went to another shop for a second opinion and sure enough, my calipers were FINE!!! They had found my front right axle boot was cracked and leaking grease.. (which we mysteriously were finding the grease on my car the week before). I will NEVER go back to Mavis in Hillsborough. I recently went in for an oil change. I called the day before to schedule a time because the last time I went I just walked in and ended up waiting 5+ hours, but it was a weekend so I understand. I figured I'd learn from it and just call ahead this time. They told me on the phone it takes 30-45 min. The next day I bring my car in and they told me an hour and a half minimum. When asked if I'm staying and waiting, I said I'm not staying there but I am grabbing lunch nearby and waiting there. (so not a drop-off, just didn't wanna wait there) I called an hour and a half in to check on my car and they told me I still have a few cars ahead of me and that it will be another hour and a half. I was not happy because I had a lot to do but I really needed it done so I waited some more. I get a call a little later about some work that they suggest which I knew they were going to do but they sounded annoyed when I said I didn't want to buy two tires. Overall, took over 3 hours.
