I had a good experience here! I was told by the dealership after they rotated my tires that I needed new tires and that they couldn't figure out my tire pressure sensor issue so they'd have to replace all of them. I called and spoke with Tommy- he was quick to get me set up with an appointment within the week. I dropped my car off around 9am and it was done shortly after 6pm. I called a few times to check on the progress and the staff was always helpful and responsive. Although it took a bit of time, everything was done well (Mount, balance, alignment) and it was HUNDREDS of dollars cheaper than the dealer. They were also able to determine which sensor was faulty so I only had to replace one. When I cashed out, the mechanic gave me a discount for being patient. read more

made an appointment for my son to get his f150 inspected. after making him wait for 40 minutes they advised him that they couldn't do it because the truck is too tall. it has a 1.5" lift with stock size tires on it. other then the fact that the inspection only requires that they pull one wheel, which can be completed with a floor jack, we have never had a shop tell us this truck is too big. I was told to stay away from this location by several people and should've listened to them. complete waste of time. read more

My appointment was set for 4pm I offered to come in early and was told better to keep appointment time as scheduled because we will get you right in. When I arrived I had to wait at the desk for 10 minutes for someone to help me. They couldn't even find me in the computer and thought I was coming in for tires. Appointment was for four wheel balance then I was told it would be a couple hrs. Why bother having an appointment. So I left my truck there, I get a call a couple hrs later saying the balance is complete but I should replace the lug nuts because they are stripped and swollen. And the lug nuts are only $10 dollars each. We don't make any money on them was his quote. 32 lug nuts would cost me $320 bucks I can buy these lug nuts online for under $2.00 each I declined because this truck just had a break job front and rear by Ram dealership four days prior. So I told them I will bring it back to them. When I got there to pick up the truck they had two lug nuts in a bag and said one was stripped but yet none of the studs were stripped. Now I Checked the lug nuts when I got home and yes there are quite a few that are swollen and some that the stud went thru the outer chrome cover of the lug nut. When you have a stripped lug nut a stud should be stripped and none were stripped. So shame on you for trying to sell me something that was not needed and overpriced. I will not be using them again. I went in for a routine inspection and was told by Mavis in Hopewell Junction NY that I needed $1,100 in front-end repairs and that my car failed inspection. Suspicious, I took it to a reputable local garage -- they told me that was completely false, and my car passed inspection with no issues for just $21. Do not go to this Mavis under any circumstance. Convenient location, but HORRIBLY run... Dropped my car off for 4 basic tires, which I was told were in stock...After getting jerked around for nearly a day and a half, I decided to show up unannounced an hour before closing.... I saw my car in the bay, and decided to sit in the lot, assuming I would get called soon.. but BOY WAS I WRONG!.. Instead of working on my car, I watched these guys have an all out pellet gun fight for nearly 30 minutes...Grown men running around like a bunch of tweens, lead by some white shirt who I assume is a manager... Finally I walk in the office, now twenty minutes til closing, and watch as these guys scramble to START my car... which I dropped off 30 hours prior. WHAT A JOKE!!! It's now 30 minutes AFTER closing, and this dim-wit hands me a $1,100 bill that includes a wheel alignment, which I literally watched them NOT do... I explain to them I really needed to get this done because my daughter was using the car and was out of state. was told a car with 13,000 miles needs rear breaks and they recommend front breaks left the store and headed to a more reputable mechanic shop where the car passed inspection and was told the breaks were no where near needing replacement. I found the customer service to be extremely rude when I question how it was possible a car with that low of miles would need breaks. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!! I'm an easy going guy who enjoys giving positive reviews, but this just needs to be done. I've been bringing all 3 of my cars to Mavis since we moved to the area 8 years ago. I will say that dealing with Edward hasn't been too bad, but Cody and Andrew are awful. I've never been to an automotive shop that will do work on your car, bill you $1300 and then when you complain about the price they knock it down by $400! Why didn't you charge me the $900 from the start? This was Cody. Then, he tells me he didn't even do all the work that was supposed to be completed. I wrote the Company and nothing was done. At least 4 times a situation like this has happened to me where the work isn't completed. I realize I'm dumb for feeling loyal to Edward even though I constantly have to return to Mavis when the work was completed. This time was the last straw. I dropped my car off to Andrew before leaving for the weekend. I was in line and the guy in front of me was complaining about work that had not been completed on his car. The guy was being a total jerk to Andrew, so I even commented to Andrew about it. All I needed was an O2 Sensor replaced. It's a 30 minute job. I told Andrew to throw in an oil change since he has the car for 3 days. I returned on Sunday to pick the car up. Edward was there. He said they did the oil change, but not the O2 sensor! I have a 90 mile commute to work one way, so it's hard to find time to get the car in for service. Edward threw Andrew under the bus without offering me any solution. He said he didn't have a mechanic on duty so I could bring the car back the next morning! What? If I had the proper socket, I would've changed the sensor myself. He couldn't take a few minutes to complete the work? He wasn't the only one in the shop! Mavis in Hopewell could care less about their customers. They are a discount shop IF YOU HAGGLE WITH THEM!!!!!They should offer their services at the friggin' flea market! Even when I have had a good experience with them, I hear folks in the waiting area complaining about the quality of the work. I know this review will not hurt such a big company, but if you know what good for you don't bring even a tire to Mavis. I found a great place just up the road. Head to CLOVE BRANCH MUFFLER AND BRAKE! The owner Mike took care of me on a moments notice. I had the sensor changed in less than an hour. The price was also $100 cheaper than Mavis!!!! read more

Cannot say enough about how honest and truthful everyone in this mavis was. From the from desk to the mechanics and manager. They understood my situation with the car as being a train car and just guided me into making it safe. Didn't not try and force anything that the car needed that would just be unnecessary. Second time the person who does the inspections called out sick, so again I could not it get my vehicle inspected. I will not be making any more appointments for an inspection there ever again. This place has gone downhill since Sean left. Anthony is a complete liar about everything. Just wants to see you tell you something is wrong (and there isn't anything wrong to make money off of you. He got us twice on two of our cars, but when the third car went in and he said a bunch of items had to be replaced, I said no. There was NOTHING wrong with the car. When my car went in, he said that the car won't pass inspection because of the the tires (this was the first car that went in), so I said to put new tires on it. $1,100 later. And honestly he had to be lying because the car only had 26,000 miles on the tires that I had. And now my car doesn't ride as smooth as it did before. We had a flat and unfortunately this was the closest repair shop around. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. The manager , Matt, aka Smooth as Butter, was the rudest, most sexist person we have ever dealt with. From the moment we drove away, we knew something wasn't right with the new tires. After 2 more follow up visits and being told there was nothing wrong with the tires, the van ran as smooth as Butter by Matt, we brought it in yet again. Fortunately this store has one decent employee, JJ, who looked over all 4 new tires, and noticed there was a defect in 2 of them. So when I made an appointment at 8am don't you think you should have had a person who could do it ready? No communication with the customer at all. The people I spoke to on the phone were very nice. I have no complaints about them at all. i Had two new tires put on. They looked low when I picked up the car. I tested The pressure and they only filled the new tires to 25lbs. Right after I left Mavis my thermostat light came on. That's never happened before. And worst of all they took all the change out of my change cup. I'm not concerned about the few dollars that was in there. More concerned that I brought my car to a place that would actually steal my change. I'll take it some where else for now on. read more

I had a flat tire on Saturday night. I took off the wheel and installed the donut, then took the wheel/tire to Mavis on Sunday morning and left it there. They took my phone number and said they'd call when it was ready. Nobody called all day. I called about 45 minutes before closing and they repeated that they'd call when it was ready. No call on Sunday. Monday morning bright and early, I called to see if it was ready. I was told it was and could come in and pick it up. When I picked it up, the manager said there was no charge. When I asked why, he said it should have been done the day before. I said "Thank you" and left. So it's kind of a mixed bag on the star rating. read more

Couldn't be more disappointed. I'll start by saying I usually have a bad experience with all Mavis locations, smaller shops are usually more friendly but this time I had the worst experience. My wife went in with 1 rear tire that wouldn't hold a charge past 25psi. I get a call that both rear tires are bad(1 is a puncture that they couldn't fix, one is a valve stem which they replaced), rear shocks are bad, and that the rear tires are legally bald and they ask about an inspection. I had them fix the tire they could and when my wife picked it up they let her leave with the other rear tire completely flat! She gets home and I take the tire off that was flat and they couldn't fix, put a plug in it and it's fine. But now the front tires are low and the valve is messed up on one of the front ones now. Left with more problems than I went in with. Terrible. read more

Had a bad experience last year and thought it might be an isolated one, so I tried again and still an unprofessional lying manager failed to deliver a good experience. He tells you anything to get you there and then its a different story. Called 2 days in advance to drop off car for front end and tires, manager said he would get right on it. I called at the end of day to get update and he said it wasnt touched yet and would try to get to it tomorrow. He said others were in front of me, meanwhile when I dropped off car there were only 2 cars there. Manager denied other cars were being worked on that werent there when I droped mine off. Worst Experience in my life, went for an inspection on my lease and was fed a bunch of BS about rust on my rotors, and I needed 4 tires. Hard to believe I need 4 new tires when I brought 4 new tires 3 months ago from another mavis location. Once I herd that I new the rust on the rotors was bs..when I called them out on the tires they had nothing to say, i asked for my car to be taken down 30 mins later they decide to bring my car down and remover my inspection sticker...the shoe manager is beyond rude and stated to his customers he makes more then them. This locations bad practices is why you all have 2.0 yelp rating..unlike google reviews you can't have employees post good reviews. Made an apt at mavis on rte 82hopewell. 5 1/2 hrs oil change and 4 tires I repeat 5 1/2 hrs I had to wait cause I only have 1 car I'd sooner visit hell than to go back there.
