Absolute waist of time and money brought my truck in for tires made the aware there was a camber issue upper control are freshly replaced asked to make sure they checked and adjusted camber. Well after going back in the store and requesting the alignment print out camber was left in touch maker marks never moved manager on duty says my tec isn't qualified to adjust camber!!!!!???? I had a trailer tire blowout 2 hours into a 4 hour trip. Called Mavis and they told me they had 4 tires for my flatbed. Get there after driving 15 miles on a shredded tire. The guy tells me he only has 2 tires and I'll have to remove the wheels myself. After I remove the wheels in their parking lot, he tells me 2 to 4 hours to mount 2 tires that are already in their shop. It ended up being over 4 hours. On top of it all the guy's a pissy jackass. Stay far away. Came in with a screw in my tire. Simple fix. TWO HOURS LATER, my car is on a lift, all wheels off, hood up. I ask what's going on and they say "courtesy safety inspection." Did I ask for a "courtesy safety inspection"? Of course not. Then a mechanic comes up to tell me my brakes are shot. Little does he know I had the car serviced at the dealership the week prior - brakes checked out just fine. This shop uses the "courtesy safety inspection" to poke around your car and try to charge you for repairs you don't need. Completely dishonest practice and a total waste of my time. Made an appointment online for inspection, get a call saying that I shouldn't have been able to do so because they are booked for the next two days. Rescheduled over the phone for Friday, then get a call Thursday saying that "my appointment just came up on their computer and that they can't get me in because they are booked up" (lie number one)...I tell them that I booked over the phone for that time and not through the computer and they said that they could do it at 2. get a call around an hour before the appointment on Friday (which I predicted to my co worker) saying that they can't do it again because the tech is not in(lie number two). My advice to anyone who is considering visiting this place is to avoid it at all costs! 2&1/2 hours & all 4 of the employees plus the manager an district manager couldn't take a TIRE off of my 1 rim in which they prior put on Despite multiple attempts by all four employees. One of the employees kept trying to make excuses for the problems with my tires, which ended with them giving me the warranty replacement due to uneven wear and fast balding of the back tires after just 17,000 miles. After posting my last review and contacting the business as suggested I was directed to return to the location to have the sensor replaced for free. I was told it would only take a half hour. Almost two hours later I was told they had replaced all four sensors and couldn't get the light to shut off, then it did. As I drove down the road I had no lights on my instrument panel. I quickly called up and was informed they turn the lights down on the panel in the garage bay. It would be nice if they had turned them back to where they had found them in the first place. I returned and Travis helped me adjust this setting. I'm satisfied with the remedy and happy with the customer service but still aggravated over the time consuming process and what appears to be a lack of competence at this location. read more

We came by for our tire that had been losing air. James was really friendly and attentive. The space was clean and had a great dedicated kid area and an adult area. The best part was we were in and out in 10 minutes with a plug and they didn't charge us! It has been a rough day so we really appreciated their efficiency, skill, and especially their kindness. Special ordered 4 tires and had them install them. They said my rear brakes were at 10% and they needed to be replaced right away. I stated I had an appointment with the dealership in 5 days and would have them repair the brakes. The dealership told me the brake were at 5mm of more and did not need to be replaced. Because of their lying i took another car down to the city and was afraid to drive my car until the dealership appointment. This type of BS to get numbers up and to push fear is unethical and down right sleazy. I promise to tell everyone I meet this story for the rest of my life and never use or recommend Mavis Tire. read more

Mavis discount tire in Hudson NY.. They replaced (They Said) on 10/24/22 my wheel bearings and hubs to the sum of $896.31. 75 miles later on my trip to Florida my bearings went out again. They never did change my hub's just charged me $400 for my old one's left on. Pretty sure they put wheel bearings in wrong or did something bad because now my whole driving suspension is BAD. It looks like I'm going to have to replace my whole suspension, hubs, spindles on both sides, ball joints upper and lower, brake pads. I had just replaced my hub's, brake pads, tire's and ALL my front steering linkage on 04/05/2022 all with proof of receipts in Mechanicville NY. They don't have ASE certified mechanics they just pretend to and use youtube a lot. After 9 times at their stores they still say I have no problem that my AT tires are loud. I have 3 written mechanics stating both my wheel bearings on both sides are shot. Along with them saying the way Mavis told me it was ok to drive it now I have all this other damage. Don't be a fool and go to ANY mavis for Anything!! You've been warned. read more

I do not recommend going here at all! Head Mechanic tries to steal your hard earned money. I took my jeep to Mavis in Hudson as one of the tires was flat. Everything was going good until the head mechanic calls me up to talk to me in the garage. Instead of showing me what the problem I came in for first, he decides to turn on a flashlight and just point at my jeep as It was up in the stands. He proceeds to point with his flashlight and then suddenly he talks A LOT,like A LOT more faster and starts saying I need all 4 new tires, alignment, new struts, all new brakes, and the caliper, Links, a new suspension(funny thing about the suspension he said i needed it but forgot to write it in the receipt as one of the recommendations). And then ends up in the tire that was flat and saying it needs a new valve. I told him to just do the valve, as I knew my tires were bald and may needed a alignment but I'm not a "phool". I later took my car to a trusted mechanic and all my jeep needed was tires and a alignment. And yes what Mavis stated was checked. My father as well had a similar experience, he went to Mavis cause a tire was flat, same head mechanic told him that he needed a new battery, and that his alternator was going bad. He later takes his car to a trusted mechanic to check on in it and surprise! No new battery or alternator was needed. Definitely do not recommend coming here, but if you have to like I did, be prepared! This place will definitely try scamming you! read more

Took my car to Mavis because one of my tires was low on air. I was worried that I had a slow leak but he guys at Mavis checked it out and it was fine. They checked the air in the other tires and found that they were all a little low, so they brought them all up to pressure. While the car was there, they rotated my tires and I was good to go. 0 stars. Took my car in to fix a flat and have the tires rotated. Next morning same tire flat in same spot. Called the shop and told them I wanted to bring it in and have it fixed while I waited. They said no way, you have to wait till everybody else is served. Contacted corporate customer service. Will not ever go back. Ok, had to give one star in order to post. Didn't want to, but wasn't given a choice. **Update: kudos to yelp. Within hours of posting this review I received a reply from Mavis customer service followed by a phone call from the store manager. A mixed bag of good and bad. The manager and customer service wanted to resolve the issues immediately and they did. However, I thought it prudent to check that the rest of the work I paid for was done. Oil change, done. Inspection sticker? Not done. So, one out of four of the services paid for were accomplished on the first visit. read more

Corey was awful. he would not give me any information about an alternative tire he offered the day before and . . . hung up on me! I don't think I'll be sitting for the 6-hour wait there! Being clever and time-conscious, I called in advance. Were the tires I'd ordered in stock? Yes. Did they have a space for me? Yes. How long would it take? An hour and a half. Shortly thereafter, I arrive. Actually, it'll be more like two hours, I'm told. Sigh. Okay. Fine. Two hours later I'm sitting in the waiting room. Time passes. I finish my crossword. Now it's two and a half hours later. The guy's coming to see me. Hooray! Oops! Guess what? They only have three of my tires. One tire is AWOL. Questions come into my head. For starters: Why does it take two and a half hours to discover that you don't have the tires you told me you had? Or: If you saw me sitting in the waiting room, why not mention this fact to me earlier? You know - so I'm not sitting in a waiting room for two and a half hours for nothing. But, wait! There's good news! They can put two tires on the car. If I don't mind waiting another 30-45 minutes. I do mind. I decline this offer. Okay, maybe 15 minutes? No thank you. I want out. In summary: I was there for two and a half hours and I have the exact same tires on my car that I did when I first arrived. read more

I was bringing my family on vacation to north carolina......I spoke to the manager ..I wanted a rotation,tires re-balanced,front end alignment and#1 I told him I beleive a hub assembly was bad....I got a call hey u need a power steering flush ok np. I'm all set..so I went down asked him. How about the hubs , he says my 2 mechanics and myself looked and your all set Ok..I get about 15 miles away from my destination and there were grinding and scraping, had to pay for a tow $200 ,get a taxi $75 and come to find out both of my hubs were shot , 1 was so bad the tire practically fell off once on the lift and that was another $800...So If I were you think twice before u go to the Hudson mavis...I do have a lawyer looking into this matter as well read more

Have been here a few times for tires, and it seems each visit they constantly try and up sell you on items that aren't required. Last visit, I had brakes replaced and inquired about fixing an issue with my tires, come to find out it had a nail. Okay no big issue, just plug it and I'll be on my way. Well within 24 hours, had the same issue with same tire they just "fixed". Go back and get told that "oh these tires would fail inspection...etc" and a whole sales pitch about replacing tires and alignment and all of these other things. Even after telling them my car has no issues with uneven wear or pull in the steering; to be told "I'm not gonna argue with you about it..." Needless to say, I begrudgingly replaced a set of tires that they failed to properly plug the one originally. And it took them over 3 hours to do this! Safe to say that I will not be returning again for new tires or service there again. I'd rather go to my dealership or another tire place. Poor customer satisfaction, and never once got an apology for the long wait time. read more

Sent my wife to install 4 new Yokohama Geolanders for my 2012 Toyota 4 Runner. They insisted it needed an alignment even though the old tires were worn evenly. They did a 4 wheel alignment which caused a new vibration we didn't have before. They redid the alignment and it did not help then replaced the new front tires with another set for free and did the alignment again. Still no better,, so I took it to the dealer and they found the alignment way off, fixed it and then the truck was fine, but I was out the cost of another alignment and a bunch of time and hassle. I told them either their equipment was off or their technician was not trained properly and they said that was not true. Needless to say, I will never go back. read more

Made a NYS Vehicle Inspection appointment online weeks ago, almost immediately received a call to confirm, followed up with no less than two reminder notices. When I arrived this morning, I was told they don't have an inspector in the facility on Friday's. Worse, the women at the desk could not have cared less about the mistake. If you can't effectively schedule an appointment, you can't be trusted to do any work on my vehicle. I wish I had checked Yelp reviews before I made this appointment, this place apparently really should not be in business. read more

They trick you into paying more. Classic stuff from a giant corporation. First, when I called, I was told it would be $25 a tire to change from winter to summer tires. When I said I wasn't ready to make an appointment, the clerk said okay, it's $19 a tire, when can you come in?.\ I made an appointment, for a specific time. When I showed up, I was told that the time had not been put into the system, so they couldn't see me---plus, I'd need a front end alignment (without looking at the car) for another $100. Plus, I'd need---what? Tire plugs? something like that, for another $4 each, plus tax. The price was escalating by the minute, with a fast-talking salesman. They'd put on one tire for free (whooo!) but I'd have to get the alignment. Brother. I went instead to a locally-owned small shop where I was told that I wouldn't necessarily need an alignment---they'd check when I brought it in. read more

I've bought several expensive sets of Michelins over the years at this Hudson, NY Fairview Avenue store. I have 2 Pathfinders, and when I make my purchases I'm reminded to bring the cars in for periodic rotations. So I was pretty disappointed (actually, pissed off) this Sunday morning when I brought my 2004 Pathfinder in one hour before opening time, so I could ensure I'd be the first car into the shop, only to see car after car brought in to the shop ahead of mine. The front counter employee had several stories for me: one car was brought in "because the guy's tire was in really bad shape." Then I was told they only had 2 people on all day. Then I was told someone had dropped off their keys, so they had to go in ahead of me (a waiting customer.) Finally I was told there was only one tire employee- no one knew where the second guy was. And as I was told these stories, I could tell the employee could care less about me or my business. I saw the writing on the wall- on this rainy Sunday morning no one at Mavis Fairview Ave gave a damn about customer service- at least not for me. I asked for my keys and left, without a rotation. I have to work during the week, so I wake up early on a Sunday to get scheduled maintenance. By getting there an hour early I hope to not have spend my whole Sunday at Mavis. The employee's attitude made it clear to me that a rotation job is a low priority with Mavis, probably because there's no charge for it. The attitude is sure different when I come in to spend a $1000 on tires. read more

Dropped off my car on a Sunday just to have tires put on(winter set already on rims). Come back on WEDNESDAY and the car is sitting in a snow bank! I go in and ask why my car hasn't been worked on yet and they tell me they can't work on it because of the snow all over it. You would think they would let customers know of this. Terrible. Horrible service! Went to get lug nuts removed from my husbands Jeep (that were put on by them in the first place) because they were so horribly stuck on. We wanted lug nuts with no covers on them - just plain nuts. It took them ALL day to do this! Plus they kept trying to get my husband to get things replaced that didn't need it. He said no and they still kept pushing it! These people waste your time and are pushy. Unfortunately they are the only tire place in town and got you by the you know what! So after wasting my husbands valuable time they replaced all the lug nuts with exactly the same thing we had in the first place! And now they are stuck again so we can't get the bloody tire off. " Mavis: "Well, they should tell you our rates on the website,then. Some places charge $45.00 a tire! I could charge you that, but I won't." Me: " LOL! I was born at night but not last night; what is the actual cost,then?" Mavis: " I'll do the $24.95 a tire. Unless you need gaskets for your TPM sensors; we don't touch them to change the tires, they stay in place, but sometimes the gaskets dry out and there's a kit for $7.99 a tire plus labor so, you may need those." I made an appointment to get two tires installed, brought the car in almost 2 hours before the appointment and the lady (Jen) said it would be maybe 2 and a half hours and they would call when it was done. I didn't get a call until 4:15 (nearly 6 hours later) and then they tried to tell me 3 different things were wrong with the car even though it had just been looked at by our personal mechanic. After telling them I now wouldn't be able to come pick it up until the following day, the lady told me that would be okay. Then I get a call back saying that I "have to pay the bill today" and that I can't just pay when I pick it up... terrible customer service, terrible policies, and terrible work. Only reason I gave more than one star is because I did get two tired installed, which I guess takes 5-6 hours of work even with an appointment.
