So i decided to just take the car somewhere else to find my front brakes were fine and I needed back brakes!! Walked in on a Saturday around 1, and asked if I can get a tire patched! Well that was a super fast NO!! He said he was booked today and tomorrow!. For a tire repair???? I needed my tire fixed today, not Monday!!! But if I was looking to buy a tire, they would have put my car on the lift, and most definitely upselled me struts and other suspension work I didn't need! Mavis Discount Tire - This is what was in my tire! I should poke you with it. - Tires Near Me - Mamaroneck, New York

We called in the morning to see when a good time to bring a car in for new tires would be and were told they can take us at 4pm that day and have it ready by closing time. We didn't get a call until almost closing time that they would not be able to get to the car that day and assured us they would take care of it first thing the next morning. We didn't get a follow up call until 10:30 the next morning when they asked us if they could do a bunch of other work (trying to upsell!!) and had not even started with the tires, but still ensured it would be done by our absolute deadline of 1pm when we would need the car back to get to work. We had arranged other transportation to work that afternoon not counting on the car to be done, and it was in fact not done by 1pm. We got a call closer to 2 that it was done and needed to be picked up and paid that day, but we could no longer make it to them by closing time that day. They asked for payment over the phone but we were not comfortable doing that until we knew the car was finished and in good shape and could pay in person. They did finally agree to keeping the car until the next morning when we could pick up before work, but this was overall not an effective or professional experience for us. From other reviews, it sounds like this location has a pattern of poor time management and reliability issues. Do not schedule an appointment or set an expectation of finishing a job that you know you cannot honor. If you do go to this Mavis location, expect unreliable wait times and delays. Do not ever pay for something over the phone without seeing the condition of your car either! read more

Made an appointment for an inspection at 11 AM walked in at 10:55 AM and was told that two other people walked in for inspections and I would have to wait until after they are done 2 to 3 hours What was the point of me making an appointment if I had a wait for walk-ins before me Unacceptable I will never return to Mavis. Ha! went to Mavis Tire early in morning to request wheel alignment. Asked how long alignments takes he said approx 30-45 mim. Could not wait until my turn was up but representative at desk assured me they were open until 8:30pm and I could come back later in day. Went back at 7:00pm they were much less busy Representative at desk said they couldn't do car because they close in 1 hr. This meant 8:00pm I went at 7:00pm. Sign clearly said they close at 8:30pm. In my book 7-8:30pm is 1 1/2 hrs not 1hr. Even if I had to wait 45 min to start alignment I still was on time. car would only take approx 30-45 min. maybe they don't pay the guy enough to care about a customers concern. When I had another car 2008 chrys. I used Mavis often. I don't think I will use them anymore. The individual mechanic is the way to go. They care more about their customers. read more

I went to Mavis to get a flat fixed on a day that I was dropping a friend at the airport. After watching the manager deal with a very challenging client he was immediately calm and professional. He listened to my situation, gave me a realistic timeline for the repair and the car was ready as promised. Tire repaired, all four tires correctly inflated and my friend was on her way. read more

Went to this location because of the good reviews I read and the staff proved those reviews right. My tires were so bad I knew I needed tires asap but I was on a tight budget. The staff there was able to get me a great price for tires, rotation, and balancing. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The place is clean and to top it off I wasn't there long. Harried and Confused equals Delays. As a customer for over 20 years at Mavis Mamaroneck, I find a new, less competent team each time I engage for service. Took twenty minutes to find my profile as I was placed on hold and greeted by a different person in alternating confusion. Took two days to replace a tire during which I received a call to report they lost my vehicle key. No one had control over my service, not did anyone do as they promised. Steve the manager was dismissive and aggressive in response to my delays and confused delivery. While the location is convenient, no manager nor customer service staff remains at this location to provide consistent, helpful, nor reliable service. Called and got one quote over the phone for tires, and installation and after it was all done it was $150 more than quoted. I had also told them no alignment and they did it and charged me for it. They are a scam. Request a written estimate before allowing them to install. The white plains mavis gave a much better price. I would never go to this place again . read more

I've been going to different branches of Mavis discount tire for years. Overall it's a very consistent experience. Very honest guys who do very clean work and they aren't embarrassed to admit if a job is too big for them. These guys offer great prices on tires, mounting and balancing and repairs. If you have an ultra high end car with super wide or very low profile tires, this is probably not the place to go to. Pro tip - call them in advance to sort out pricing and inventory. It will save you and them time. They offer a great road hazard warranty as well on the tires they sell. read more

We've always had really positive experiences at Mavis, but we took our car in last week when our tire pressure was low, and were told there was nothing wrong with the tire, but that our brakes needed to be fixed for $200+, that the battery was leaking, and that the 1-month old wipers needed replacing. When we received the quote, we decided to take the car to our dealership. The low tire pressure symbol was still on. There was nothing wrong with our brakes, but the pressure valve on our tire was leaking. I'm not sure what happened this time around, but thought it was worth writing about. I'm wondering if management has changed recently. It was definitely a very different experience than we've had in the past. read more

Had a fully popped tire, brought car in at 11:30 am for a fix, they had it done by 2:30 and it only cost me 32 dollars.

The mechanics damaged the driver sideview mirror and didn't say anything. It is clear that the mirror was damaged when it was open, because there is visible identical damage on the top and under the mirror that can only happen when it is open, as if the mechanic drove into equipment or drove the mirror between something. It is not a simple nick. The side view mirror automatically turns in when it is locked. If you don't lock the car then side view mirrors stay open, unless you make it close by hitting the button on the driver door. I picked it up in the evening and parked it. As I don't drive the car very often, I just noticed it. I park the car in a paid, very spacious garage, where it is covered. I aways make sure to lock the car and watch the mirrors turn in. If this happened when it was parked (by me) then it would just be a nick, a simple scratch or worse case completely hit off of the car. All impossible with the way the mirrors automatically turn into the car when locked, or when the button is pushed to turn them in. read more

STAY AWAY from this location. Myself and a couple of my friends have had issues with our vehicles after having them worked on, simple oil changes, by this location. On my vehicle they forgot to tighten up one of my wheels, after checking the brakes, during a simple oil change. For a friend of mine they forgot to tighten up the oil filter after his oil change which has now caused internal damage to his engine (bad rod), and my friend has been dealing with them trying to get them to do the right thing since January 2013. I can tell you about my other friend as well but if you have read this far then you should already know to STAY AWAY. Go to another Mavis location but this one or go to a different company altogether. Yes, there may be really good positive reviews here on Yelp but I can tell you that my two buddies and I will never go to this particular location. We now instead go to the location in White Plains on Tarrytown Rd. Hope this helps. read more

I recently purchased a set of tires for my Toyota Camry. I chose this location because of a helpful employee on a previous visit. I presented a price quote from COSTCO, which the salesperson agreed to match. When I returned to pick up my car, the same person tried to "sell" me a road hazard warranty. The warranty was printed on the quote I had shown him from COSTCO. When I brought it to his attention, he called me "crazy, nuts and cheap". When I asked for my car, he told me "it was outside". He expected me to wander in the dark around the two unlit parking lots. I have never been verbally abused by another salesperson. If you go to this dealership and disagree with the salesperson, expect to be abused. read more
