My tire caught a flat and I was looking for the nearest tire shop, and stopping at Mavis was the best decision I made. As soon as I drove in I was immediately greeted by the workers Alex Angelo George and Ahmad. The gave me the best customer service, I was helped by all 4 of them. They put put air in my donut and patched my tire up in less than half an hour of me being there. They saw I was in a rush and got me out of there quickly. I'm not from Mount Vernon but I would definitely go back there for their business and professionalism! They treated me like family! Any car issues they got you! For Starters they didn't have the tires I wanted. Secondly, the sales person sucked at selling tires. Made the tire choosing very difficult. I really didn't care for details just put tires one the car. Thirdly, After I finally Left my car, I get a call 2 hours later that they can't find the wheel lock. I didn't realize that I had gotten the call till I called them back 2 hours after that to ask what is happening with the car. That is when they told me they couldn't find the lock. The person I spoke with initially, never even asked for a wheel lock. I also never gave any permission to go locking through my car. I was told over the phone that the mechanic searched the entire car for it. I must admit the manager did listen to me rant and wasn't rude but he honestly didn't care. This is my second return within two and half weeks. The first visit was to switch out the winter tires for the summer tires. I bought the summer tires here and actually like them. Now what I didn't like is the wait which was almost two hours. Once in car I drove off and soon noticed the tire gauge was grossly in accurate. There was almost 60 PSI in the front tires and 47 PSI now I don't own an SUV only a Fiat 500 (Abarth). I thought the gauge was broken only to learn during an DMV inspection that the pressure was in correct due to Fault of Mavis. The second issue I have is while servicing my car at the dealer the tech informed me the rear drivers side tire was put on wrong. To all customers please be advised if you have directional tires ask about them and look at the arrow on the tires. The tires are directional tires for a reason. read more

It all up to you ppl but I will never set my foot in that shop or recommend it to anybody. 1. The brand new tire wan't balance properly!!! 2. One of the wheel nuts was stripped!!! 3. The tire pressure sensor on the tire they worked on was replaced w older one that was not from my car and is not for my car. Which result in me not been able to add air to it. I work as a driven and I'm having over 250k on each car I ever owned. I was in need of 1 tire and decided to use MD tire services. I pay around 70$ for 1tire and other installation fees etc. etc. I experienced issues like vibration in the steering wheel right away. I try to contact the shop but all they offered me was involving me leaving the vehicle with them or wait over 1hr. in the shop. I called multiple times, they never had the availability to see the car right away even with appointment! I obviously gave up on there warranty/complain services so I stop by different shop to re balance the tire and this is where the biggest surprise came. Typical BX job in which the brand new tire wasn't balance, the wheel nuts over tight stripped and left as it is and my newer tire pressure sensor stolen and replaced w junk. Asked to have brake fluid flushed. As I watched mechanic, he removed fluid from tank, refilled BUT NEVER flushed brake lines. Im no mechanic but you MUST drain brake lines. Whats the sense of adding new fluid when brake lines still have old fluid in them. If not for me watching, Job would not have been done correctly. Had a flat (not totally flat, but I was leaking air after running over something sharp). Took my car in here and they took care of it really quick. Fixed the flat with a patch and didn't try to sell me lots of other services and 'upgrades' that I didn't need. Only cost about $17 and I was in and out in about 30 mins. I appreciated their attitude of "you have a small problem so we'll fix it quick and get you back out on the road." Next time if I have a bigger problem, I won't hesitate to take my car back here. read more

They just left the horrible car totally misaligned, I came back the other day and they said they were too busy and couldn't see it the same day. Lucky me I got a flat and needed to get new tires. I first went to Mavis in Yonkers on Central Ave but they said they needed a few hours and that they would call me when it's done. They were not very helpful and seems like they didn't want my business. So I called Mavis in Mount Vernon and spoke to Jamal. He was so knowledgeable and was able to tell me an estimated time instead of "a few hours". I rushed over there and I first spoke to David. I let him know that I spoke to Jamal and needed to get two new tires ASAP as today is Halloween and my daughter needed to go hunting for candy. David was also very knowledgeable and in addition, he up-sold me in the most pleasant way. Mavis will be checking my breaks while my car is lifted and I plan to go back for rotors and breaks when I have more tire. Kudos to Mount Vernon Mavis. i was on the hutch heading to white plains when the tire sensor came on and that usually means low air or tire is bad. thank god for the gps cause i was able to make my way to mavis tire in mt vernon and i was lucky i just needed air. the tech felt around the tire and stated no damage just some air and recommended to me to check the pressure when i get home. some places would have said that i need a new tire or some other story, glad i dont cause them tires are not cheap.lol. read more

I booked an appointment here for a simple oil change. When I got there it didn't seem to matter if you made an appointment because I still waited 2 hours for my car to even get put on the lift. Then another hour passes and they come out telling me I need new rotors, brake pads and shocks. I was a bit taken aback as I had done that service earlier in the year. But feeling like I had my metaphorical balls in their hand I took their word and paid only for the rotors and a brake flush. Something told me to go to my usual guy in Eastchester for the shocks. Two days later I brought it to the Mavis in Eastchester and they said there was absolutely nothing wrong with my shocks and even if there was my car is still under warranty with Nissan and I'd be covered for under 50k miles. Needless to say I fell like I got taken advantage of because they saw a woman who obviously knows nothing about cars. They absolutely got me for a good $300. Shame on them for soiling the Mavis brand. I will never come here again and will stick to Eastchester. If you're a woman, bring a man with you who knows their cars or just avoid this place altogether. The guys here will be super friendly to lull you into a false sense of security. Mavis should do quality checks on their locations even if it's privately owned, these people are representing the brand. read more

The service you get here is pretty good. I've come to this location a total of 3 times - once for new tires, once for an oil change, and most recently for brake pads and roters. The first two times I came here was a few years ago, and the staff seem to have improved quite a bit. They were much nicer this time and seemed more trustworthy (ie. this time they didn't try to convince me to get repairs that I knew didn't need to be done right now). I think that there prices are pretty standard and with a brake special going on I paid $20 less than what I had been quoted at Meineke. The main issue with this place, which has been an issue all three times, is the wait time. They are busy, so it's understandable that things take a while, but the main problem is that they tell one thing, but then you end up sitting around for muuuuch longer than expected. For example, they told me they would look at my car and let me know the deal within 30-45 min, but my car wasn't brought it in until an hour and a half later. Then I sat there for another 2 hours while they did just my front pads and roters. When I went for my oil change I waited 2.5 hours!!! I at least wish that they would do a better job estimating how long jobs take them so that customers can make an informed decision of whether or not to wait around. I also had an issue when I go tires with them - they were supposed to order tires from another location and when I came back on the day they said to, it turned out that the person had never actually ordered them. This was a few years ago though, so maybe things have changed in the regard. Then again, the wait time issue hasn't changed at all. To sum it up, this is an okay place to get your car serviced and I'll come here in a pinch because it's close to my house. However, there are other places near my job and my mom's house where I prefer to go where the service is better and faster. If you do bring your car here, make sure you have several hours to spare. read more

Came in early enough to be the first customer of the day. The overall customer service as far as assistance selecting the right tires for my car was exceptional. That where it all ends. An hour into waiting, the techs were yet to even place my car on the lift. As I looked they all seem to be walking around chatting with each other and not even looking at the row of cars that were lining up to be serviced. One tech finally looked at me and came into the waiting area and said"we are going to touch your car in a few min". Sad to say that the entire wait time to get my tires replaced went well into a 3 hour ordeal. Don't think I will come back to this center to get serviced ever again. As a customer my time is precious. MAVIS really needs to look at what there staff is doing. read more

I'll start with the positives - the referred me to Dunn Sport to get my rim fixed and that's worth the two stars alone. They also gave me a cheaper price on the tires than my previous visit, which is where my positive experience ends. When I arrived it was fairly busy. I asked for an estimated wait time to get two new tires and he said an hour to an hour and a half. I know it's hard to guess how long each job will last, however, realistic times should be given, especially when someone is going to be sitting in a waiting room for an entire afternoon. When my car was finally pulled into the shop, it was at hour two. The tech told me all 4 of my tires were dry rot. Impossible considering one of them was purchased from this shop 6 months prior and was covered by warranty. So then he had to go back and check the true condition of my tires. The front driver tire was worn and had a bent rim - had to be brought elsewhere for repair. The back driver side had no visible leaks, holes, cuts, etc so no determining factor in what caused this flat. It wasn't in the best of shape, so I was fine replacing. The back passenger tire was fine as it was only a few months old and the front passenger side wasn't bad and could've held out a bit longer. The only reason I agreed to replace it is because he offered to drop the price $15 per tire. I figured with the snow, it's better to be safe. So I wasn't exactly comfortable with the guys in the shop, but at least this guy showed me the visible tread wear before I made a decision. At hour 3 I noticed my car hadn't been touched since I gave approval. When I asked for an update it took 20 minutes to get an answer from the guy at the desk. He said they were working on it in the back. All of my tires were actually laying on the ground under my car. So now I'm being lied to once again. In total, it took 4 hours to put 2 tires on my car. I still had to get the rim fixed and bring the tire BACK to Mavis to be put on. I brought the damaged rim and newly purchased tire to Dunn. They had me in and out super fast and even put my new tire on the rim and on my car to avoid having to waste another 4 hours of my day. I will not return to this location. Mad shady. read more

I will never return. Horrible customer service, the Jamaican mechanic is extremely disrespectful and doesn't know how to talk to people. They lie about how long it will take them to do a job on your car and will have you sitting there all day waiting to get it back. Dropped my car off at 9am to switch out all 4 of my tires and get an alignment. I was told it would take 2 hours to complete, so I went home and asked that they call me when it was ready. 3 hours passed and still no call so I went back around 12:30 only to find out that it wasn't ready because one out of two of the machines that do the alignment was broken. Around 4:30 I was called up to pay and was told they couldn't do the alignment and that I need to take it to BMW. He explained to me that they are not able to tell if the machine can do it until the car is hooked up to the machine, which is a lie because I'm sure I'm not the only BMW that has come into that shop for them to know it couldn't be done. So I waited from 9am to 4:30 just for them the change tires. read more
