I went to this service oil station to have my oil changed. On my next oil change I went to my regular mechanic. They assured me that Valvoline never changed the oil or filter. I confirmed with Valvoline they only use Valvoline filters. The oil was filthy and the filter was all leaky and old. The filter on my car was not a Valvoline filter. I remember sitting in my car at Valvoline and heard the attendant say he can't get the filter off. So it all made sense. I called Valvoline customer service. They had the Valvoline service station where I went investigate it. Give me a break. The manager went to my mechanic and afterwards called me up saying that the filter on my car was one of their alternative filters. My mechanic assured me it was not. Both mechanics at my regular mechanic assured me again Valvoline never changed the oil or filter. Valvoline charged me on that visit that I went to them for an oil change and filter and they did not do anything. I requested reimbursement and the manager assured me he would not reimburse me. read more

We just had our oil changed by our local mechanic on our 2016 GMC this past March of 2025 and they did a full on inspection of the engine, tires, brakes etc. because we would be traveling from New York to Myrtle Beach, SC in a few days. Our local mechanic said the car was in good health and we had nothing to worry about. The car had not been giving us any issues since. Fast forward to Monday, June 30, 2025... we are now getting ready to move to Myrtle Beach and have a move in date for Monday July 7th. My wife suggested we get the oil changed before we go down. Being we were both off that day our local mechanic as well as a few others were too busy to take us so we decided to take it to Valvoline. Upon arrival they asked us to pull in, did a light check and then opened the hood. After a few minutes he proceeded to pull the oil stick out and come over and tell us our oil was low. Impossible. We just had our oil changed 3 months ago and we have had no oil leaks. As usual they try to push other service but we kindly declined as the move to S.C. is costly and just wanted to make sure we got there safely. They proceeded to change the oil, came back with the stick and showed it was full. I was then asked to turn on the car and rev it and keep it between 2-3,000 rpm's for a bit. Then shut it off. After all being said and done paying over $100, he asked me to turn on the car and pull out of the bay. I started the car, put it in drive and the car began to shake and putt putt forward about 2ft and conked out. He asked what happened. He said to try it again. I started the car, put it in drive now with the hood open and the same shaking and hesitation happened. I was able to just make it out of the bay before the car conked out again. He had said the engine was shaking. I immediately asked what happened, they said they didn't know. I tried to start the car a third time and at this point it wouldn't start at all and had to be rolled onto the sidewalk. I asked what happened again and they were quick to jump down my throat and say I don't know what you're getting at but this isn't our fault. He said try getting it up the street to a mechanic and have him look at it, blowing me off. My wife and kids saw the two techs working on my car bluntly laughing at the situation. Thank god I didn't see that while talking to the manager because I would have lost it. It's not a laughing matter and just plain out rude. I had to have it towed to my local mechanic, North White Plains Auto. I've known him for almost 20 years. He checked it out and told me my engine needed to be replaced, that from his experience and having worked on my car for two years, this never should have happened. I spoke to my local mechanic who did the oil change this past March and told me similar having seen my car several times knowing the good condition it was in. My wife works at a salon and the woman she was working on had her husband who is a mechanic there waiting and said he has often had the same stories from customers who have gone and had their engines messed up (not at this particular location but similar experiences) I filed a report launch an investigation through customer service who was very apologetic and kind and said this would be a thorough investigation which would involve someone to come out and look at my vehicle and I would receive a call from the person doing the investigation. The next day I got a call from the manager of that location who was there the whole time this happened and witnessed it all. He went on and on how he conducted his own investigation looking at cameras and they did nothing wrong. I told him Valvoline was going to send someone out to look at the car. He said that would be him. How suspicious I immediately thought. The guy from his own store to come and "look" at the car. How do I know he is doing his job and not wanting to save the stores ass and say "it's not us". He didn't even want to come look at the car after the service rep said that was part of the investigation. I called customer service back and told them how I pleased at how this was being handled. I was expecting a party not involved with me or the place of service to come out and look over the vehicle to give me what I hope would be an honest answer. I was told by the rep a regional manager would be getting back to me today 7/2/25. Judging by the other reviews here, I am not the only one this has happened too. I am hoping they do the right thing. Saturday March 9th 2024 I go to my Valvoline on Yonkers Avenue which I have been using for a few years for both my vehicles. Normally it's five stars in and out. However this time things seemed off with the crew. This time as I pulled into the bay (CSR) Collins asks me "same oil as last time?" I replied yes. He looked puzzled and then left to speak with another crew member. When he returned Collins stated "you should be using synthetic oil because it's a turbo". I replied that's incorrect. My 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0T takes the manufacturers required 5W30 Conventional oil for the past 9+ years of ownership. No big deal maybe the incorrect information is on their system and Collins is just bringing it to my attention. Then Collins says to (Topside)Patrick who has already pulled the dipstick out to wait we have to check lights. Patrick reinserts the dipstick closes the hood and we go through the safety check. Ok first time that mix-up has happened. This is where it gets worrisome. Patrick presents my dipstick to me and states "your oil level is low because your using convention oil and not synthetic" I couldn't believe he actually said that. First of all I check my oil, fluids and tire pressure every two weeks, especially the oil as Hyundai's and many turbo engines are notorious for oil dilution issues. Now I'm getting annoyed because it shows the lack of experience or an attempt at up sell. Oil change complete. Collins says turn on your car and then calls out to (bottomside) Marvin, "pressure test" Collins gets no response. Then Collins says to Marvin "your falling off your call outs". Which I did pick up on and I'm not sure if these gentlemen know what they are doing. I submit my coupon and pay. Collins states do want us to email your receipt? I reply yes and leave. On Monday March 11th 2024 I receive a invitation from Carfax to review my Valvoline visit. Originally I was going to give three or four stars out of five stars due to the inconsistency in service. Then I bring up my Valvoline receipt that was emailed to complete my review and to my surprise what do I see In the comment section? ENGINE OIL LOW UPON ARRIVAL Customer notified low oil level turbo charged should be using syn. ENGINE OIL LEAK NOTED TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK NOTED I then went to my garage and WTF! there's spotting. Just to verify I then placed a piece of cardboard down and check again this morning and verified that my truck now has a leak. If I had an oil/trans leak, I would of discovered that first from spotting on my garage floor. If I had an oil/trans leak The Valvoline staff should of notified me when I pulled in. Why wasn't this conveyed to me before, during or after my oil change? Now I understand why Marvin didn't respond to Collins, he may of damage my truck. Now I have an appointment with my mechanic to see what was done to my truck. You try to have some confidence in the people working on your vehicle and hope they know what they are doing. I have emailed my concerns to Valvoline corporate and will update this review on their response and my mechanics findings. UPDATE: March 13th, 2024 My mechanic place my truck on the lift and removes the protective belly pan for the engine and inspect for an oil and transmission leaks as reported by Valvoline. We found did find a large amount of oil all over the belly pan and on the underside of the engine. He cleans the engine and belly pan at which time which appears that it may not be an oil leak but a spill. The bottomside crew member my of either dropped the old filter into the belly pan or was just sloppy in changing out the filter. My mechanic suggest I use the truck for a week and keep mindful if I see anymore spotting in my garage or smell burning oil and to return in week to recheck. So now I place cardboard under my truck each night and I'm happy to say no leaks detected. March 14th, 2024, I did receive a message from Valvoline corporate which is basically a Valvoline CSR making the connecting between the customer and manager of this Valvoline location. March 15th, 2024, Valvoline called me back with Anthony the manager of this Valvoline. I explained the situation. He was very apologetic and repeated because I have been a customer for a few years he didn't want to lose me as a customer and offered me free oil change as compensation. However I was reluctant to take his offer as his answers were evasive to my questions. When I asked "If I had an oil and transmission leak why wasn't I notified when I first pulled into the bay? why do an oil change and not notify the customer before during or after? His response is that they noted it on the receipt. I stated that my oil was over filled? which is clearly seen in the photo. He responded we only fill to specifications. I asked why push synthetic oil on a vehicle that manufactured recommended 5w-30 conventional oil? His response was they updated their system and this is what is called for. We went there for a simple oil change and they messed it up. They bent the cooler housing which cause an oil leak but they told us it was the transmission fluid. So we took it to our dealership hoping it was something they would cover. But because we went the cheap way with Valvoline we ending up paying alot more then their service. We had to pay to fix their screw up which cost us over $1400.00. I wrote to their claims dept and I got the same response, NOT OUR PROBLEM. Do not take it to this shop, they did terrible and shoddy work, lied to us and would not admit to any fault. read more

Went in for an oil change and they broke off the screw cap for the oil pan. Waited 2hrs in the car with no feedback to then have them tell me if was my problem. Even though in their system it shows I only go there. Not a good experience. After writing this review I was told to give my information to their customer service team. They patched me in with the manager Anthony who continues to talk down and speak to me very unprofessionally. I HIGHLY suggest staying away from this place as they try and fix the problem by telling me there is nothing they can do and I am to blame. To respond to your post the issue was not resolved. I was searching for a place on Groupon to get my oil changed and this was one of the first places that popped up. They have some good deals that will save you a pretty penny here. Their service from the minute I pulled up was exceptional! They made sure to tell me what they would be checking along with changing my oil. They changed my oil and even showed me the stick was clean and the new oil they put in. Along with that they made sure to tell me I needed a new air filter and tire rotation. I like the reminders I get via email and post card in the mail when I am due for my next oil change or other preventive maintenance service and valvoline are always sending me discounts like 25 bucks off oil changes and other discounts that have little or no restrictions. Its oil change time and the early bird gets to have the work done with no wait at all as I pull up to available bay , hand the valvoline guy my keys and wait inside the waiting area for about 20 minutes or less . I remembered that I need new wiper blades and I guess I could save about 15 bucks if I go to my local auto parts shop and install them myself but I recall in a snap that I aint handy at all so I better let the valvoline guy do it . Less then 100 bucks for oil change and new wipers and its time to hit the road .its worth it when you use the discount coupons and that's reason for 4 star review . read more

Terrible experience at this Valvoline. I brought my car in for an oil change. When I got there, my car did not have a check engine light on. The guy did the oil change, asked me to start my car and the check engine light immediately popped on. I told the guy and he responds "it's just a coincident"...... It's clearly not a coincident if my car didn't have the light on, you touched components under the hood and now it does have a light on. I asked him to run a diagnostic to see what was effected during the oil change which he didn't want to do but finally did. He tells me that it is the outside air sensor reader and to drive around a bit and it will turn off. So I did and took a 20 minute ride, still on. I went right back to Valvonline to see if they would just check under the hood to see if the wire could have got disconnected or if oil spilled over the component responsible for reading the outside temperature. Essentially just to look over what they messed up. The assistant manager, Javier comes up to me. He says that it isn't their fault and that they won't be looking at the car. For as rude and unprofessional as he was, I kindly suggested that I would wait since no one was behind me and they were finishing up on the cars that they were currently working on. Javier said it didn't matter and why he would have his guys look into that. Well Javier, maybe because I just spent over a hundred dollars for you to change my oil and your technicians caused the issue that's happening. He then proceeds to say, "well do you know where this part is in the car?" We'll Javier I'm not a car mechanic like yourself and would hope the assistant manager of Valvoline would know enough about cars to even hold that title... No accountability for issues they caused, awful customer service, no knowledge about cars, and a assistant manager who clearly doesn't care. Highly do not recommend! read more

Husband went here to get my oil changed and to replace a windshield wiper. It took awhile but he came home hours later and the car seemed fine. The next day we had a huge rain storm and the windshield wiper they had fixed broke off in the middle of the Major Deegan. Had to drive home with one windshield wiper in the pouring rain (good times) and the broken wiper ended up scratching my whole windshield. When it rains, it pours. My husband called and told them what happened and they admitted they forgot to do something when fixing the wiper. I'm not sure exactly what was forgotten, but they admitted some sort of fault. They took a look at the huge scratch and said there was nothing they could do. We were offered a free oil change as an apology but that's not quite the solution I had in mind. I now drive with a giant slash across my whole driver's side. read more

A bit slow, but was probably just the time of day I was there. My initial problem was that I was told 25 minutes. Car wasn't taken for one hour. Total time at the shop was 1 hr. 45 min. Service was friendly, Asst. Manager was very good to deal with. They just need to appropriately manage expectations. Update: Shortly after leaving, check engine light came on. I called, and despite being closed when I could get back, they stayed late and immediately fixed the problem. Assistant Manager and Manager were very nice, and easy to deal with. Going there for an oil change, I asked them NOT to do the "maintenance check"' which is just an excuse to get you to agree to additional work, but still they came up telling me my oil pan was leaking and needed to be replaced, which is an outright lie. The only reason I've come here twice is because the first time they put on my oil filter cap so tight that another shop was afraid they would break it by taking it off. So I wanted Valvoline to change it and if the cap broke it would be on them. But this second time I came back just solidified my decision to never come back here. 2 of the guys tried telling me my car needed super expensive Synthetic oil (it doesnt) and they had to shout at the guy in the shop to check my cars oil cap, which of course confirmed what I said (You know, because I'm just a girl, what do I know about my own car that I've had for 7 years?) Tried to upsell me on oil needed . Recommend you know what oil is needed in engine BEFORE you enter store; also that they enter it into computer accuratly. Went to this place a couple of times, it was fine. The last time i went they broke my dip stick, and now the bottom part of the oil dip stick is logged into the slot where you put the dip stick. I went back and told them that they broke it, and the person at the desk looked up the service date and it showed on the paper " dip stick broken upon arrival". Each time i did my oil change there, they would come to the waiting area and show me the dip stick, this time they didnt even tell me that they broke it, i had to find out myself a day later. One of the guys there said the manager will call you, he never did. Had my oil changed there this week. Upon arrival I was accosted by the manager Anthony, telling me that my car required synthetic oil. I know my car very well and even confirmed with my car dealer before previous oil changes that the car takes regular, organic oil. Anthony was adamant that the manufacturer only recommends synthetic oil for my car. I told him that he was wrong and I know my car better than he does. He said I would have to sign a paper that states I did not take his advice and put the wrong oil in my car. Fact: The Manager Anthony is trying to sell customers synthetic oil when their cars do not require it. I understand the concept of upselling a customer, but this is not quite that. If he was honest, he would try to upsell me to the "high mileage, synthetic blend" which is $60. If my car had high mileage, that would be good for the engine. But, he didn't do that. He just launched right into the old "you need synthetic oil" and it's $80. I get it. The more $$ his location makes, the better his performance review and/or bonus he may receive. On the other hand, the technician that worked on my car, Jesus, was excellent! Super nice, very knowledgable, and attentive. I watched him check the whole car out, tire inflation, coolant level, etc..... Jesus gives this brand a good name. I left feeling good about the work Jesus did on my car. Would I go there again? Maybe. If so, I would probably call to see when Jesus is working and when Anthony is not working :) P.S. - There was no paper to sign about putting the wrong oil in my car.... read more

Always the most amount of stars for this place! Kind, friendly, knowledgeable, fast staff. I have never left here feeling as if I have no idea what just went on. Depending on the time of day you can wait a bit for service, but that is because most people feel the same way about this place.
