I had already ordered my own set of tires, but three of them were delayed in shipping. Since one tire had arrived, I brought it in and asked them to replace the damaged tire that was leaking air and shredded along the inside edge. When I returned to pick up my car, it looked like they had done a rotation instead. The new tire was put on the front driver side, and the damaged tire was still on the rear. As soon as I started driving, I realized the back tire was still flat and unchanged. I had to go right back. After waiting another hour, they finally corrected it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When it was done, I was told to get my keys from the driver outside. I went out and found an 18 year old employee sitting in my car along with a woman from the front counter, both playing around while I stood there waiting for about five minutes. He kept putting my window up, and she was pushing it back down, triggering the anti trap feature over and over again. Then when I get the bill, they put all these additional costs on it that they didn't mention, such as tire rotation and something with the axles. I was laid off from my job and unemployed for a year, I cannot afford this stuff! I had to call my parents to send me money to pay for the darn thing! I've been going here for years. Thought they were honest. Not anymore. I'm never going back. A month ago I went in for a leaking tire. They plugged it, and I assumed all was good. But with in a couple days I noticed it was still leaking. A week later I returned, and told them it was still leaking. They checked, and told me the valve needed replacing. So they did that, no extra charge. But with in a couple days I noticed it was still leaking. A week later I returned, and told them it was still leaking. Finally a week later I return, and told them it was still leaking. At this point they know me and must be tired of seeing me each week for the same problem. And this time they told me there was a nail in the tire in a location where it could not be fixed, and it needed to be replaced. I was shocked. How could this happen. They mean to tell me that with in one week, with only 100 miles of driving on clean roads, I got a new nail in the same tire I've had trouble with for 4 weeks, and it was in a location that could not be repaired. With the help of AI, I calculated the odds of all this happening by chance to about one in 1 in 50,000. And the odds of them putting the nail in themselves at about 1 in 10. That means the odds that they intentionally put that nail in my tire is about 5000 times higher then the chance it happened by accident. They claimed I just had an unlucky tire. These people are crooks. When their incompetence is revealed, they resort to sabotage. This is absolutely criminal behavior. read more

Don't come to this place, I had 4 tires changed and still trying to charge me the same tire price. And it was for the same problem, it was only 3 days apart for the my original tire with the new tire. I had Assistant manager told me if I had any problems I can come back with NO charges. terrible work and scamming. i came here because I had a flat tire. they told me I should change both front tires because its better if they match. when I left the shop, my tire light was on in the dash and they said to come back if it doesnt go off. i come back and they say the tpms sensor needs to be changed and it's 120. I say fine because even though it should have been taken care of the first time, I was being kind giving them business, an extra 120 wasn't a big deal to me. they end up baiting and switching the price telling me it was 120 per sensor (Insane overpricing because you can get 4 for $50). The only reason I even went to Mavis in Port Jefferson was because of James the Manager. Now he is gone because of lies that were fabricated by an nasty and revengeful employee and because in today's world, where all you need to do is say something out loud and people believe it, Mavis let him go. He was a loyal and dedicated employee to Mavis who worked his tail off and in return, he was treated like dirt. The shop and front end employees were all slow, lazy and disrespectful and the only reason anything got done was because of James. Buyers beware...DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS! brought my car in because I had a nail in the tire. Was told they could not plug it and that I needed to buy a new tire. Mine wasn't in stock, so they had to order it for me. They put the spare on my car and said to come back in 2 days. When I went back to get my new tire, they said they put it on, and charged me $338. When I went out to my car, I noticed that it was NOT a NEW tire, but the old tire that had been plugged. I went back in and immediately confronted them. They all seemed confused. The poor tech guy said, yeah the tire was plugged and put it back on. He had no idea. I demanded a refund which took them calling headquarters. Then they didn't refund me the full amount, only the tire plus tax, not refunding me the balancing and valve replacement. $30, and then they charged me another $30 for another balancing and valve replacement. There were so many scams in this story, it is almost too much to believe. The manager said I had to call corporate. Which I did. Still waiting for them to call me back. Plugged tires do not require balancing or valve replacement. Still reeling from they saying it couldn't be plugged and then plugging it and charging me for a brand new tire. Just unbelievable. Think I will report them to the BBB. Still out $60, and all i got was a plugged tire and a lot of aggravation. read more

Another auto shop that I am "done" with. Let me explain: On Wednesday night I meet with the manager James, I show him my sons Jeep. He gets the tire info from the car and we go inside. On Thursday I show up at 10:30am. James is off today. I ask the clerk if the tire arrived. What tire? James ordered a tire for my sons Jeep. Is it a P225 75R15? Huh? Its a Firestone tire. Well, I see a P225 75R15 on the computer, it should be here soon. Great. Can you also do a wheel alignment? The passenger front tire needs to be replaced. Now "Brad" jumps into the conversation. Can it be picked up at 3:30? Brad says: It should be done before 3:30. Not a problem At 12:00, I get a call on my cell phone. What tire are we replacing?? I told James on Wednesday and I told the counter person, the bald front passenger tire............. At 3:30 my wife and son walk in and see Brad. Brad starts to have an attitude with my wife?!? Left my car on Friday morning after I was told that tires arrived from warehouse. Got a call in afternoon that they don't have my tires but it likely arriving tomorrow. Unfortunately it was a bad snowstorm on Saturday so everything was postponed to Sunday. Got a call on Sunday afternoon that car is ready however due to family reasons I could not pick it up but was reassured that car can stay and I can pick it up next day. After my wife picked it up Monday morning I found on GPS tracking that my car was used on Sunday evening from Mavis center in Port Jefferson Station to 12.. Harrison Ave in Amityville, NY that is 35 miles away and then back to Mavis on Monday morning. Mavis employee used it as a personal car without my permission or knowledge of it. I recently purchased a set of 4 new tires for a 2002 Ford Taurus SES for my daughter. The online order was for $88.00 a tire, but when I saw the bill, the tires were $83.00 a tire. It's not a gigantic savings, but that the manager gave me the better price without mentioning it says a lot about the place. They also added an oil change even though I didn't schedule that online. But here's where they earned their 5 stars. Not long after driving the vehicle away from the store and through the car wash next door, one of the tires developed a flat from a piece of metal slashing the groove in the thread. As it was close to closing time and we needed to drive the car to Maryland the next day, we called the manager who gave us a electric air pump to fill up the tire, then stayed late to fix the flat FOR FREE. I first came here for an inspection and an oil change about a year ago. My inspection was due in a few days and they were the only place in the area that could do it that day without an appointment. Normally I wouldn't come to a tire place for an oil change and inspection. I was told I'd need at least 1 new tire to pass inspection so I got it. Came back over the next month or two for another new tire. At that time I got talked into new front & rear brakes. Guy took me outside, pointed at something with his pen, said brakes were dangerously low. I didn't know what I was looking at but since I'm the second owner of a 10 year old car purchased just months before I wasn't sure when exactly the brakes were done last so I thought it was possible I'd need brakes. Also had break lines flushed and an alignment. Came back a month or so later for 2 more tires (now I have 4 new tires) and was told my brake lines needed to be flushed. I Told them that was just done when I was here a month or two before! I'm sitting here tonight waiting for them to fix a slow leak in one of the newer tires (second time back since getting the full set). The manager, James, comes out to tell me the bad news that my rear brakes are 70% worn. What?!?! I told him I just had them done less than a year ago. He asked where, I told him here!! So he double checked paperwork and said yes, now he sees rear were done recently. Funny because he saw in the paperwork that I had my front brakes recently done so he didn't say those were worn, just my rear brakes which are the ones he couldn't find the paperwork for. Also tried talking me into getting something flushed -- I think power steering fluid. I don't know what tonight's bill is going to be, but every time I'm here they try to tack on extra things and use scare tactics. Never will return!! read more

I was stuck between a rock and a hard place last month. I had a vacation planned and my flight left for Tampa left at 5am. While driving back from work the night before, my headlight went out. I stopped at a local store to find the head light and attempted to replace it. Let's just say they don't make cars like they used to. It was not a simple process and even after following several 20 minute YouTube videos it became frustrating. After about 2 hours of trying and disassembling my car, I still didn't have a head light. I drove to 3 stores and nobody would help me. The forth store the guy tried but couldn't get the bulb in. He suggested going to Mavis on 347, he said he knew it was a tire store but the employees are very knowledgeable. I am so glad I did. This very nice employee Keem jumped to help me. It was minutes before closing time and honestly my last resort. Keem was very professional, his calm personality and knowledge made me feel a lot better about the dilemma I was faced. If I could give 0 stars for this place I would. If you care about the safety of your vehicle I highly advise that you bring your car elsewhere. I wouldn't advise my worst enemy to bring their car to this place. I had scheduled an appointment for 4 full brand new tires. I was previously in a bind and they fixed a flat for me and were great, but looking back on it that day the store had what looked like 2 managers present so I guess they were on their best behavior. First off when I went in there the employee WAS NOT WEARING A MASK. Not in the shop and not in the lobby. Absolutely disgusting. Especially since I am a nurse and just got off of working all night I found it beyond disrespectful to subject patrons to. The mechanic didn't even have the decency to wear one while he spoke to me. They didn't have my tires even though I booked that appointment over a week in advance. No phone call, no nothing. I showed up after working all night and was told "oh whoops. Sorry. You can bring it back in a few days". Stupid me rescheduled. I was assured that I wouldn't have to leave my vehicle for the day and that the process would take maybe up to 2 hours. I went to my rescheduled appointment only to be initially told that I could wait for my car and it would be completed as I waited. After waiting a few minutes I was told there was a mistake and that there was no way my car would be worked on and I had to leave it there to be picked up later. If I knew this then I wouldn't go to a location close to work and so far from my house as I again worked all night and had to pay more money in an Uber due to distance. I was specifically told by the mechanic that rescheduled my appointment that the service would be provided while I waited. I also paid for an oil change and was charged. Flash forward to today when I am getting my inspection - Eddie's Automotive in Medford (go there, NOT here) inspected my car and showed me that there was absolutely no way there was an oil change performed on my car within the last 3 months. The oil was completely burnt and also they never changed the sticker which even this shop said was poor practice and unprofessional. I'm not an idiot and I know what burnt oil looks like so nobody can deny what was pointed out. That means my VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR OVER AT LEAST 8k MILES WITHOUT AN OIL CHANGE WHEN I WAS CHARGED FOR IT. This place has dishonest and disgusting business practice, along with disrespectful employees talking to the general public without masks on. I don't care what this place responds with and they can deny all they want because at the end of the day I know what the truth is and can at least advise the next person to stay clear of this place if they want to protect themselves and their vehicle. read more

Can't trust them anymore. Had my car in a month or so ago for a tire leak and asked them to check my brakes to see if I'd pass inspection in a month (now), and they said absolutely. I go in for the inspection, and now they are telling me I cannot pass inspection because of my rear brakes, and tried to get me to pay for new brakes right then and there. When I said no, they proceeded to charge me for the failed inspection. They even went on to look at documentation from my last visit and said "oh it's because it says here that you only asked for us to look at your front brakes" - which I never did (why would anyone do that anyway?). And even IF I did, wouldn't it just be professionally expected to look at ALL brakes? Needless to say, never going back. Hate it when places aren't clear and try to pull a fast one. This place will scam you! I bought two tires in April and now they're SHREDDED! Why isn't it covered ? Read your receipt ! They put recommendations on it that they do not verbalize it. How many of you read your receipts, I know I'm not the only one. But because they "put it on the receipt" they're covered. Why would I disregard recommendations that were important to me maintaining my BRAND NEW tires! And during covid! A time I seriously do not have an extra cent to spare unless absolutely necessary.
