I borrowed my sister's car to drive from Boston to Greenwich, CT to visit a friend. When the car was in her driveway we notice one of the tires was low. The next morning, when I was supposed to leave, the tire was totally flat. My friend recommended Mavis and what a good call that was! Everyone with whom I interacted was excellent. But I really need to praise Mel and Yaseen, who came to my friend's house right on schedule, looked at the tire before putting on the spare, and realized they could repair the tire without my needing to buy a new one. They were professional and could not have been nicer. What I thought was going to be an all day ordeal took about an hour, and cost way less than I thought it would. I experienced exceptional service at Mavis. More importantly, the service was swift, thorough, and coupled with heart. We are a family traveling 4.5 hours and to our dismay received a message that our tire was running low. Already having to deal with 3 cranky toddlers, 2 aging parents and a yappy dog, the last thing we needed was a potential flat tire during our commute. I replaced all four off-road tires on my 2020 Defender in January, 2024 when the car was at around 35,000 miles. When I was paying, the wheel balance report that they attached to the invoice was from a different vehicle. They assured me that the balance was done properly. The wheels were covered with salt and I did not notice until the following day when it was washed that all four wheels were scratched in the process of changing the tires. I went back and spoke with Grady who gave me the name and number of a repair ship in Stamford to fix the wheels. I called and called and NEVER received a return phone call. I finally gave up. Fast forward to May, 2025 and the car was in at Fairfield Land Rover and they told me that all 4 tires had to be replaced because they were all worn on one side. THEY DID NOT DO A WHEEL ALIGNMENT EVEN THOUGH I PAID FOR IT!!! Tires lasted less that 10,000 miles before I had to replace them again. DO NOT HAVE THESE PEOPLE TOUCH YOUR CAR. Amazing Service today! My tire light came on, and thank goodness, I was not far from the Mavis Riverside Location! I pulled in and was able to see the nail in my tire. I walked in and spoke with Henry. He took a peek and said they could take care of it, but it would be about a 90-minute wait. I explained that I was headed to a Cat Adoption Event and my foster cat was with me, but I'd still make it with that timing. Fast forward 30 minutes, my tire was plugged and I was on my way! I always hate taking my car anywhere. I know nothing about cars and am always paranoid they're going to rip me off. So when I had a slow leak in my tire, I went to Mavis afraid they would tell me I needed a new tire. But thankfully, the honest folks at Mavis informed me it was just a nail and they were able to patch it up while I waited for a better than reasonable price. Hopefully I don't have any more tire issues, but will definitely go back to them if I do. read more

Stay away, like everyone else's says. Stay away stay away stay away!!!!! I made an appointment to get my brakes bled.... BRAKES BLED! It takes 30 minutes to do the job. Car has been there 4 days. 4 DAYS! I call and argue why it's taking so long and that I'm not an idiot when it comes to cars and THEY HUNG UP ON ME! This place is bottom of the barrel. Traditional, corporate, run of the mill crap. No professionalism, they hire complete goof balls and train them 0 responsibility or professionalism. All they know is how to turn a wrench, eat food and poop. They have no communication skills whatsoever. So... I got in the car since the employee hung up on me. I drove to their location 25 minutes away. I show up and there's a typical line with people who are just agitated and unhappy. Finally I get to the front where I say, "you know who I am don't you." No apology, no nothing, we just immediately get into an actually SCREAMING match where I ended up having to call the police. I was afraid I was going to strangle them. I was INFURIATED! That's actually an understatement. So.... The police intervene and get them to do the brakes. Do you believe that????? Literally, out of a movie. I had to call the cops to act as enforcers to get them to do the brakes. The promised... PROMISED to have them done that day by 6. Nope. No call, no answer, my calls were ignored. Saturday rolls by and I call at 8:30 am (they open at 8). They said? "Oh yeah the manager is driving the car in). So they didn't touch the car since Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, then Saturday. To bleed the brakes. Again, mind you, this takes 20-30 minutes TOPS! I have to call them at 11:30 to find out the car is done. Then I get a call at 11:37 to say that the car is done, from a different employee. The phone rang for 15 minutes (I took a screen shot), because they can recognize your number. I take an Uber to pick up the car. I paid $50 for the service. Hahaha, what a joke. $50 repair that took 5 days. It gets better FOLKS!!! Way better. So today, I'm on my way out with the car. The brakes are literally maybe marginally better. Like 10% better. I had NO choice but to continue driving to my destination, why? Because I had a buyer waiting for the car since Tuesday when I promised him the car would be done as I WAS PROMISED on Monday that the car would be done same day. Alright, so I'm driving on route 7, taking it really slow and things are starting to get really strange. It smells and the car is braking on its own. I feel like I have to push on the gas pedal twice as hard to get the power I would normally get. It gets SO BAD that I have to pull over in front of town fair tire on route 7 and I immediately noticed smoke coming from the front right brake. It's thick white smoke. It's pouring into the car, through the hood, out the wheel. I let the car cool down, the smoke stops about 20 minutes later. I start the car to try and move it... guess what!? Yup, the brakes are locked. Long story short, I get the car towed (literally tires are scratching the ground as if it's in park). The car gets towed to Midas, not even a mile down the road. They took me IMMEDIATELY! Without hesitation. Mind you, $235 for two tows (one to Mavis and one to Midas), $50 for the brakes at Mavis, I'm into it for $285. So I'm pleading for help from them. They take the car in, spend about 25 minutes with it and give me the car back like NEW! Insane. It was amazing. What happened? Oh the brakes needed adjusting, the right wheel bearing was over tightened intentionally. Midas was recommending legal action against Mavis. And guess what. That's what I'm going to do. I'm going to sue Mavis for lost wages, damage and costs for tow. Maybe I'll win, maybe I won't. Maybe I won't have enough to prove everything. I'm prepared for that. But I'm so sick and tired of businesses and their people screwing customers over; namely the automotive industry. This is a joke and also a crime, in some regard. Again, I may get nowhere with this but it's never okay to just let stuff like this slide. I'm going to start with the better business bureau (BBB) and see where that takes me. They can be very helpful. Screw your Mavis. I hope your location gets shut down. What a great Christmas present that would be. Totally dishonest. They said my brakes on my Ford pick up would cost $700+ when I said wow, he said he could discount it to $449. I left. Three days later I received an email with a Father's Day special $139 per axle. I called and was told it would cost $249. He refused to accept the email offer. I then called the OG location who did the job for $139 per the email. I wrote the CEO of Mavis and never received a reply. Stay away. Go to Costco. Totally honest. read more

my cars tire rim was diagnosed as cracked by Mavis. the service team at the riverside location has been horrible. I have had to go back 6 x and they have been unable, unwilling and unprofessional in resolving. I would not recommend this company to anyone. they're deft. even after calling customer service 2 x and asking to speak with a supervisor (who never called) they have not provided a solution. finally I wrote to the owner. NO REPLY. I'll resolve in small claims court. if you want to have a headache and deal with a car which has safety issues, then go to Mavis in riverside It always starts at the top. My husband called to confirm that the tire was in hours prior to my appointment at 2. Arrived promptly before 2 and waited an entire HOUR to be told my tire was not there and they had to see if they could get it. The guy at the counter called someone and I was told they could have the tire there in 10 minutes. 20 minutes later the tire arrived. I told the same guy to place the spare in the trunk, I was told "they know." Literally 20 mins later the mechanic comes to ask how to put the spare back UNDER the car. FINALLY left after 2 hours! Worst experience, and as if the incompetence was enough I got told "well, we took off $30 bucks for you." Wow! Just wanted an alignment. They made me 3 separate appointments. Ever time I showed up they said there was only one person who could work on a Tesla. Then they sent me to the Greenwich one. No one could do it. Turns out they can do it they just dont want to according to the manager. Use some of the tire places in Stamford. NOT RIVERSIDE UPDATE : Mavis would like me to call them. Made an appointment to drop my car off early in the AM the day before. Front desk manager confirmed that 8am appt and that they would get me out promptly after. Received a appt email confirmation as well. 2 hours after dropping off and waiting, car wasn't on a lift nor looked at. Apparently the "mechanic" showed up 2 hours late to work which was the problem. Front desk manager continued to refer to the backlog of work ahead of me. Rather then focusing on the mound of cars to work on, they should focus on managing their staff, not over-promising or overbooking. Make sure your employees get in on time, don't hold other people up. This place is badly managed. Saw an employee walking around doing nothing except drinking his soup. I simply left. There were 3 bays that were empty. I overheard 3 other people who's cars have been there for 2 days for simply a tire swap/repair. Terrible management, stay far far away. If you leave your car with them, you'll never get it back same day from what I was hearing. read more

Beware that the current $99.99 brake pads deal on the mobile phone site does not mention that the price is "per axle", nor do the people on the phone tell you when you call to confirm and make an appointment. I learned this after they finished my car and charged me over $200...i should have known that I would be swindled. Could have paid any shop to do pads for $200 or less, and skip this swindlers paradise. Otherwise the quality of work seems fine so far which constitutes the second star. read more

Today, I got a bolt stuck on my tire while driving on I-95 in my girlfriend's Corolla. While I was driving towards the tire shop to get it plugged, the bolt came out and ended up getting a flat. Had to pull over to the side of I-95 to put my spare donut on and then I proceeded to drive to the mavis tire shop. Didn't get his name, but the guy I spoke with at the front counter was a very honest and polite gentleman. I knew the tire was still good and am pleased to know that he didn't try to just sell me a pair of rear tires to just make some money off of me. Alex, the mechanic, was able to plug tire and have me in and out in just 15 minutes. Great service. Super honest crew. Much respect. Stay away from this fucked up ripoff tire shop I purchased 4 tires last September and these unprofessional jackasses put 3 tires at size 235/45 and one at 225/50 and I only drove the car lest than 400 miles and the back right tire blew out. one of the tire they sold was from 2015. when a tow driver picked up with a flat they pointed out how dangerous having different size tires on a all-wheel-drive Audi Quattro. Don't causing transfer case problems, In vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD) systems, the transfer case (gears that transfer power from the transmission to both the front and rear axles) and the car's internal computer work together to send power out to each wheel. Do not go to this shady shop for your tires. Fucking scumbags. read more

I went to Mavis in Greenwich on post road with my Toyota Prius for a change of left axle due to an oil boot leak that's attached to it and to remove some wrapped up debris on the right axel. They offered a reasonable price for the job and since I was planning to change my car in about a year I did not want to overpay for it at the Toyota dealership. So I agreed to do the axel change in Mavis. I had to go in couple of times because first they had the part, then after I waited for a while they didn't have it. So I came back the next morning and they changed the axel. In the meantime I also had timing chain tensioner leaking and Mavis sent me to firestone to fix that one. Since I'm not a big fan of firestone I went to Toyota for the chain tensioner leak instead about two weeks after Mavis changed my axel. As soon as Toyota put up my car they called me to come right away and see the underneath of the car of which I took pictures. But basically there was oil leaking from the left axel boot that was supposedly changed and the debris from the right axel was never removed properly. The mechanic told me the car was not safe to drive and that the imbedded debris on the right axel could have caused it to fall off while driving. That was a very scary thing for me to hear because I drive a young child in the car....any mechanic could see the child car seat in the back. Anyway besides that bad news with the right side it appeared that the left axel that was just changed couple of weeks ago in Mavis was not new at all since it was fully rusted!!! I went back to Mavis and showed them the pictures I took from under my car in Toyota and they pretty much dismissed my pictures but showed me a video from Mavis showing their worker changing the axel. So there was nothing to talk about since they had proof on the video the axel was changed! Something is wrong here....a new axel does not fully rust and leak in two weeks time!!! Also if there was a safety issue with the right axel I should have been informed! As a result of all this and not being able to trust Mavis I just ended up getting rid of my car a year earlier then I wanted to after I spend money on tires, breaks, axel etc...all with the intention of keeping it for one more year. I don't know if they are putting in old parts and reselling the new ones or what is exactly going on but I felt strongly to take the time to post this information so anyone going there is aware and vigilant in checking the work that they do after it's done, don't just take their word for it. I felt so terrible that I was exposing my child and myself to a possible serious accident that could have happened. I'm just glad that I was able to discover this but I'm very disappointed in this industry behavior of lying to people. Even if you don't know anything about cars you know that axels don't fully rust in two weeks! I followed up with the management, sent them pictures of the rusted axel to James the manager. He never called back on his own...had to call in again and again. Finally months after the first complaint I got him on the phone and he treated it as nothing. Not even any remorse that they sent me out of their Mavis shop with a car that was unsafe to drive! Shame on Mavis for doing substandard work and employers who don't seem to care what actually happened :( read more

My experience with Mavis so far has been quite good. First impressions are big for me, especially since I used to work in an auto repair shop for a number of years. Cleanliness and professionalism are huge to me when I walk into a shop. So far, this place exceeds on both fronts. It also helps that I did my own research, knew exactly what I want and I know what's what when it comes to most of my vehicle's functions. For those of you who ever feel "tricked" into buying more than what you came for, take some responsibility for yourself, and if you're not sure of anything, do some research for yourself, take your vehicle to another shop or two and get another quote. It won't hurt anyone's feelings (but your own) if you do or do not do this on your own. The only thing that was a little disappointing was that the gentleman I talked to at the Mavis call center did not properly put in my ticket for the day, but they are still getting me in and getting some new feet for my ride (tires that is). I came here today to change winter tire to summer tire.i bought brand new mini r60 last year and have them change tire for me last winter.everything went ok. Today,after an hour wait the lady who came 30 min after me get her car in service first.that was ok. After 1and half hour my car get in.10 mins later the guy came to me and show me my car Wheel Bolt Lock..and said it to old,it break! I said no way, i look at it and tell them the mechanics don't even know how to use or just carless.look like he just put the Bolt Lock only half way in not even lock and then turn it. Make key on Bolt Lock are twisted..now he said can't do anything can't take the wheel off.he tell me to go to the dealer and get the new one. And he still confirmed The Wheel Bolt Lock's broken because is too old.no apology from them. 2 hours for nothing, poor experience ,have to spent another $110 for Wheel Bolt Lock.
