I went to Mavis at 343 Putnam Ave in Greenwich this morning to get a new tire. I have a chunk of sidewall missing from hitting the curb. I thought for sure i would need a new tire. Pernell came out and took a careful look and told me it was only cosmetic and no need to replace it. I went to Mavis Tire on Putnam Ave to get my tires rotated. I had a 10:00 appointment. When I got there I was told there were 8 cars before me and I should come back later at 12:30 and would be taken immediately. At 12:15 I called and asked if it was a good time to come over. They said yes. I got there at 12:30. I left at 2:00 without being taken. Just very disrespectful and a terrible way to run a business. read more

Been going to this particular Mavis in Yorktown Heights for over thirty Years. Wife's car needed a state inspection so she made an appointment for a Sunday at 1PM. Got a call in the morning stating their only inspection person called out. She made another appointment while on the phone for Monday at 11AM. She gets there on time and is told that the inspection could not be performed because they "had run out of stickers". Didn't they know there were no stickers left the last time their only inspector was at work? When she asked why she didn't get a call this time to cancel the inspection, the person behind the counter said that he didn't get around to it yet and said he didn't care if she went to a competitor for service. Corporate was nice about it and arranged for an inspection about two hours later at the Mavis in Cortland. As it turned out, they gave me a free inspection for my wife's trouble, but failed the car's inspection for bad wipers, so the $35 I saved on the inspection paid for the wipers. read more

I went on Monday with my husband after our rear tire got punctured on I-95. Pernell, helped us immediately and had a technician look at the tire and patch it. I experienced excellent service! Communication between their call center and store along with their (seemingly) outdated technology creates confusion. For example, I ordered two additional tires after the front tire was replaced. (BTW: Getting that one tire in the front took an act of God...with Mike's help.) The two additional tires had to be ordered in late August/early September and I was told to come in on September 26th. When I called a few days in advance to check the status, I was told that there was nothing in the system indicating an order had been made. They noted the appointment for 9/26 had been cancelled. The person who took the call, laughed and said, "if you don't come in within two weeks, we send the tires back". But the appointment was made by Mavis for weeks in advance because they couldn't get the tires sooner. Then they couldn't find the initial tire order on my record. I called and asked to speak to Mike and within a few minutes he took care of everything. He found the tires and made an appointment. I don't know of a company more in need of process improvements and reorganization. I fear that when Mike goes onto bigger and better things it will impossible to get anything done. To make matters more confusing, I did get an email reminding me of the September 26th appointment that had been cancelled. Great looking brand new store, however if you are interested in repairing a flat tire and wind up buying a new tire, this is definitely the place to go! I went there with a fairly new car with a very slowly deflating tire and without even looking at it, they started giving me all these fancy reasons why they won't compromise the tire and that I needed a new tire. I noticed that they have a similar pitch in the three Greenwich stores . It looks like they are on a mission (I assume economically incentivized by the management) of upselling you without much regard to providing the help you need. Again, if you want to exchange a $20 flat tire repair for a $250 tire purchase, then you must go to this store, but if you just want any to repair a tire, then I'd stay away from these guys. read more

They seemed really great and friendly and knowledgeable - but, something didn't seem right when the job was done. I had a blowout this past Saturday night on the I95. Had to stay in a hotel, called Mavis Tire first thing Sunday morning and spoke with Sebastian. He was very helpful and found the tire I needed. I told him I was travelling home to Canada and still had over 600 miles to go. He said bring the car over and he would take care of me. I took my car there twice, once for a basic oil change and the other time for a lot more (tires, brakes, oil, battery) and both times the guys were fantastic (Scott, Parnell, and Sebastian). The second time, when I needed to get tires, brakes, oil, battery and alignment they gave me a great deal and also found another issue with my car (that I had asked them about) and told me the least expensive way to get it fixed, which wasn't with them. I had a wonderful experience at this Mavis location from start to finish. I ran over a nail and got a flat tire. After I had the donut put on I made a reservation online to take my car in to have my tire patched. I received a call from Rocco a short time later to confirm I would be coming in. Once there I was promptly assisted by Grady and was told it would take 60-90 minutes. I came prepared with my iPad and headphones because I knew I would have to stay there and wait. They have a little spot with comfortable chairs and couches if you need to wait as well. My car was ready to go on the shorter end on the estimate. Overall I was incredibly satisfied with my experience from start to finish. I will definitely use this location again if the need should ever arise (though I hope it doesn' t)!! I found a screw in my tire after stepping out for the morning. I called ahead just after 8am on a Saturday and the call center contacted the Greenwich location to give them a heads up that I was coming in for a tire plug. A location manager called me up after getting the work order to let me know when to come in, to lessen the wait time. I showed up at 11am and the tire was plugged and refilled within 30 minutes. Scott the manager knows his business well, provides top level services, manages a great team, and is a great individual. He video chatted with me before I came in just to make sure that he knows the exact type and size of the tire, and he pre-ordered it for me. The tire replacement was smooth and quick. I wanted to specially commend him for being courteous, attentive, and friendly. He is supported by an efficient team including Jade and others that I did not get to have their names.
