A girl comes in with a tire that's low and it's up on the lift and 3 guys are checking the tires for potential leaks. Never again . 4 tires was supposed to be 1.5 hours. At least when a appointment is made it should be honored. Don't make the mistake of keeping me un informed. I could have spent the first part of the day working. Unfortunately, I ended up at this place because I got a flat on I-95. When I first arrived, they told me they were too busy to do a plug, and that it would have to wait until after the day. I've always had very friendly service, both from mechanics I pass in the lot and anyone working the counter. They provide their best estimates for timelines whenever asked and prices seem fair. Even stopping in for seemingly small issues (one tire's pressure being off) they take their time to ensure there are no underlying issues. read more

It is under new management and they're running the place to the ground.. Their time estimates are just guesses intended to bring you in. If they say it'll be ready in 30 min expect to wait all day. They have no concept of keeping appointments or time management. They get a ton of business but that's due to its old reputation of being fantastic and taking care of customers. My family has been using Mavis Discount Tire for years, however I was extremely disgusted with my recent experience. I purchased four new tires for my pickup truck. Upon completion of the installation, I paid almost $1,000 for the four tires, balance of four tires, and a $79 wheel alignment. After I paid in full for everything, I asked for the spec sheet of the wheel alignment. The guy goes in the back, comes back and says, "We forgot to do the wheel alignment". They surely didn't forget to charge me for a wheel alignment! If I didn't ask for the spec sheet, they were going to let me leave after paying for a wheel alignment and not getting one, and my brand new $1000 tires would get worn unevenly. It makes me wonder how often they charge for a wheel alignment and "forget" to do it. I then waited for them to complete the alignment. Secondly, the tires that were previously on my truck I had asked them to save so that I can reuse them in the spring. Once I got home, I realized my spring/summer set of tires were completely butchered while Mavis dismounted them. (See uploaded picture) Now they are completely unusable. How can a tire shop not know how to dismount a tire without damaging it? Lastly, about two days after Mavis installed my tires, I took my truck on the highway. The weights on my rim (from Mavis balancing the wheels) went FLYING off the wheels when I got my truck up to about 60mph! Luckily they didn't hit anybody or any other cars. I took my truck back to Mavis right away and spent another two hours in their waiting room. They replace the "clip on" wheel weights with "glue on" wheel weights. I drove on the highway two days later, and some of the "glue on" weights fell off too! Now my steering wheel shakes every time I go on the highway because my wheels are not balanced. Now I know better, I will bring my truck to a mechanic that knows what they are doing. I will bring my truck elsewhere to have them properly balance my wheels and to replace tires in the future. I found myself with sidewall tire damage on the Sunday of July 4th weekend only a few hours before I had planned to leave for a 70 mile trip back home. Not wanting to make the long trip back home on a spare tire [or the tire with damage!], I was in a panic- where could I possibly get a new matching Michelin tire for my Lexus Rx on a Sunday afternoon? Mavis Tire of Riverside to the rescue! I called ahead of time to make sure they could fit me in that afternoon. I spoke with Omar who was very polite, calm and told me I did not need an appointment for them to accommodate me. I clarified that even if I couldn't get there until 4:45pm with a closing time of 5pm, that would be ok- they would still help me out. I headed over immediately. Mavis was located conveniently off of I-95 in Riverside. After I parked my car, Omar came out to take a look at my tire; he confirmed that he had the same matching tire I needed in stock. It took all of 5 minutes from the time I arrived to when they started working on my car. Omar told me he needed ~ 1.5 hours to complete the job. There was ample sofa seating, desks, a water cooler, a tv, and magazines in the lobby while you wait. Since it was a nice sunny day, I decided to go for a walk outside. Omar called me after 1 hour to let me know my tire had been switched and that I could return at my convenience to pick up my car. I was also very pleased with the price. The tire + labor was a very good deal. I paid after the work was completed. I called Lexus the next day to ask what they would have charged me for a new tire, and it was ~1.5 what I paid at Mavis. The only thing that I didn't like was that they left my keys in the car after they finished the service. Yes, it's Greenwich, but I would have preferred that they didn't leave the key in my Lexus for someone to drive off in. Brought my car in for all four new tires and alignment. It was a busy holiday weekend and you could sense the frenetic energy as they were rushing to get the work done. When I picked up my car it felt funny from the start and I brought it back for them to check the torque on the nuts and also double check the air pressure- thinking that might be the issue .... then I happen to bring it in for service 4 days later for maintenance at the mechanic and asked him to check my tires because my steering wheel would shake at high speed - and guess what? My tires were NOT BALANCED!!! The mavis guys had used old weights and had not checked the balancing at all!!!! I made an online appointment two days before bringing my car in. Got there on time...11 am. Even with an appointment it took them 4.5 hours FOUR and A HALF HOURS just to get the car into the garage for a simple tire swap..TWO TIRES. While waiting, I saw a couple walk-ins come and go, while I'm sitting there waiting. Didn't get the car in the garage until 2:30...WTH All the while I'm listening to the mechanics yelling and screaming like drunken college kids, hearing a never ending conversation about ordering lunch, etc. The managers excuse? He had to give a couple of his guys lunch. I missed lunch because I'm stuck here....glad his people got to eat. It's now 3:15 and they're STILL talking about lunch. Finally go to pay, another manager could only have been doing this on purpose, slowly completing the card transaction, slowly, at a crawl, tearing out the receipt, tearing off the perforated sides, sloooowly lining up a business card with the edge of the receipt to staple it....my God..... And on top of everything else, the tires, which were supposed to be mounted on the rear, got put on the front. The follow on to the previous review of very poor brake jobs on my two cars, I thought it may useful to report further interactions with Mavis Discount Tire, Riverside, CT store. I got a call from Mavis Customer Support and she enquired if problem was fixed. I said no one got in touch with me and how would the problem be fixed. I asked if she is promising me to fix the issue with better quality brake pads and rotors. She promised me the manager James will be calling very soon to discuss the steps. Over a week has passed and no call/message. I am not sure what to make out of it. Also, on further reading comments on this post, James in Riverside, Connecticut location seems to be a big problem for Mavis. He treats his customers poorly, never apologizes for his mistakes and runs this location in a way that delivers very poor quality of work. I am not surprised that I never got a call back, because it is James. I sincerely hope that Mavis will do something to fix this. The location is so convenient to me as this only half a mile from home and now, I have to go further away. They have also lost a customer with three luxary cars and they have made a fortune in last 5 years selling me run-flat tires. I wish I should not have gone to them for brake jobs and kept the relationship. read more

This establishment is professional, generous and honest. My 2001 Prius gets driven an average of 15k/year; I just hit 250k. Mavis of Greenwich has saved me a lot (compared to my dealership's much loved service department, Toyota of Stamford). Dealerships are expensive, so on less Prius-specific issues, and all my tires, I come to Mavis. They have fixed many "little" things for free: courtesy lights, for example ($25 at dealer). This last visit, my heat shield connections were deteriorated, and it was rattling. The dealer would only replace the entire shield (almost $500 all in). Mavis reattached it and refused payment, even for 1h of labor. In regards to corrosion on the shield itself, they said I coukd safely get more use out if it. So between my guys at Toyota of Stamford and the excellent service here at Mavis of Greenwich, I'm happy! read more

Plus they are not outwardly expensive, and if they can help it-they try not to charge much. One time I was in like three times in one week and they never charged me for sealing two of my tires. I went to Mavis to get new tires because I blew my tire out in the snow storm. After putting the tires on they told me my brakes were at 90% and needed to be replaced ASAP. They said I shouldn't drive without replacing the brake pads and were very aggressive on the phone when I declined to get this done. I took it to my home dealership who told me my brakes weren't even at 50% and don't need to be done for months. I felt like Mavis took advantage of the fact that they knew it was right before a holiday and that I needed to drive etc. I also felt like they thought that as a young female I would be an easy person to convince to spend more money. I have scheduled my appointment to have 4 tires replaced. At the time of scheduling I asked how long it's going to take and was told 2-2.5 hours. My appointment was at 8 am. So today I arrived at Mavis at 8 am and was informed that they do not know when my car is going to be ready, and that they have few cars from yesterday. After I question it and reminded them I was told it will take about 2 hours the guy rudely responded no "I told you the job takes about 2 hours" . Please .... I did not ask how long the job takes when I was making the appointment I asked how long it will take to get my car ready. Anyway I left my car called them at 11:40 and they did not even started working on it. I canceled the service and picked up my car. Horrible customer services no sorry , nothing . I was about to spend almost $800. Btw I went to firestone on east Main Street in Stamford and had all my tires changed at much lower price( same day no appointment)And customer service was excellent . Definitely avoid this place. I had decent experiences here in the past but only really went there because the location was convenient for me. I knew they were overpriced but went with it anyways. Then, I bring my car in one time to have my summer wheels changed to my winter ones (which costs about $60 here, I've since had it done for $12 at Midas) and when I came to pick up the car, my iPod and gas cards were missing. I had left them in there thinking a place like this in the heart of Greenwich would have trustworthy people working there and would be well supervised. The manager told me I was outside of my mind to think that they took anything. I'm not crazy. In the past I have had great experience with Mavis, Eddie the manager has always been great and his team has done good work at a fair price. Today though was not good. Rich handled my business and it did not go well. First after being asked to look at the breake pads Rich called to have me come look at my car and stated "you need new brake pads (I was not surprised) and new rotors (additional $500 cost - I was very surprised). Rich said it was a safety issue so I authorized the work which he also said could be done in 1 hours time as they had all the parts. 1 Hour 45 minutes later I went to look at my car and the rear rotors had not been changed and the front brakes pads were missing. When I spoke to Rich he now said they could not get the rear rotors, I asked if this meant I need to go to my dealer and he now said "the rotors were not bad and did not need immediate replacement. The front rotors had already been installed. Also they did not have the pads for the front and were waiting for them to be delivered. Rich had no intention of telling me this until I tracked him down and confronted him after his 1 hour became close to 2 hours waiting. I finally got Eddie involved again and things were sorted out though I still had $300 of brake work done I really didn't need and I ended up waiting more then 3 hours when I had planned 1 hours time. Eddie made adjustments as he could but I am still upset. Bottom line: I would go back but I will insist Eddie handle my cars I will stay away from Rich he tries to oversell ( from a matter of safety to recommended to insure against noise), does not communicate well and generally was unimpressive in his handling over clients. UPDATE: Feb. 14, 2013 Mavis Corporate did follow up on my complaints and took additional action to ensure their service is brought back to the high levels I have always experienced in the past. They have gone the extra mile to reach out to a customer and address problems. I am satisfied with the efforts Mavis has taken and will return their for my tires and brake work. read more

Was previously a VERY big fan of this location--this week, half and half... Yesterday: very good service--had them bring in a tire from their Westchester warehouse same day so that I could have a matching tire for a flat on my JCW Mini Coupe. Price was fair as usual and tire was waiting for me at the time promised. Today: had been told by Omar to "just stop in" with my Abarth for a rebalance and I would be "in and out" in an hour or so. Thus, showed up today (admittedly had told Omar likely Wednesday) and after five minutes spent getting this particular car into their system (Omar is not in apparently, btw), am met with a blank stare when asking if the appointment would take about an hour or so. I point out to the gentleman attending to me what was said yesterday, only to listen to "oh, he shouldn't have said that," followed by the manager adding "we need the car for the rest of the day." Final utterance from the person taking care of me actually borders on comical: "Oh, you just can't leave the car with us....I'm sorry." Really? I live in MA (you have me in your system and know that), I told you I'm "passing by" on the way to an appointment, and told you I was "instructed" yesterday to "just come by and we'll take care of you." Should I walk for the rest of the day? Or perhaps rent a car so that 20 minutes' worth of work can be performed on my "commuter car"? My fiancé took our car in to get two new rear tires. I picked out the proper tires and booked the appointment online, and she drove it in for the work. Right from the start, the guy at the front who "helped" her was extremely condescending and dismissive. He didn't take the time to confirm or explain what needed to be done. The mechanics also tried to up-sell a computerized alignment and the replacement of brake pads, sensors and rotors. We ended up getting the alignment, but there was no reason to replace brakes, etc. that were just replaced a year ago. The guy also said he would call when the car was done, but never did. My fiancé had to call and check in on the status hours later, since she couldn't wait around all day to receive a phone call. Lastly, they didn't screw the air valves on all 4 tires properly. Luckily, none of these flew off during the drive home. The entire experience was just extremely disappointing. I understand they call it Mavis DISCOUNT tires for a reason, but there really was no reason for such poor customer service and neglect. Were the tires the lowest price I could find? Yes. Please read this entire review! I went to this Mavis on 7/7/19 for break pad changes because it was the only place I could find a 930 AM appt on a Sunday. I live in Riverside and made the mistake of telling Mavis I would leave the car, but that I needed it for a trip to Md that night at 5. After going back several times throughout the day, they finally got it on the lift at about 3:00pm. I was told in addition to the break pads that my back driver's back break caliper needed to be replaced? I resisted, (I didn't believe mechanic) but finally agreed to change it. (I'm still not convinced I even needed to change caliper) I was told I would be called when it was ready before 5pm and was never called. I got back to shop at 455 in a panic and the car was still on lift. At about 5:20 pm they finished. (2 people remained - shop closed at 5!) I paid $619.00 and drove down to Md with my 15 year old son. About half way down to Md, I felt that my breaks were a little mushy and not working properly. I was livid and I carefully drove the rest of the way to my destination and I couldn't believe my breaks weren't working properly. What I didn't know is that the caliper that was replaced had completely fallen off and was hanging by the hose! I spent the next day in Md, inconvenienced and getting the caliper fixed and paying $380 for additional service. I was told that had the caliper piston popped off, I would have lost breaks completely and that I was EXTREMELY lucky that a tragedy was avoided! Crazy! After bringing this up with Mavis when I got back home a few days later and a lot of going back and forth, I was finally offered on 8/23/19 ONLY the $380.00 to pay for the extra work done in Md and a voucher for future work. Clearly I didn't want the voucher for future work! More than the money, my bigger concern is the safety policy of this Mavis. NOTHING was discussed as to how they were going to investigate this incident or fix it so that it wouldn't happen again. Obviously use this Mavis location at your own risk. I found the customer service to be terrible on the day of service and the fact that they put my son and me in a life threatening situation and offered to only pay for the extra work was really unbelievable. No consideration for my time and aggravation the next day and also for putting our lives in jeopardy. Their customer service was terrible on the day I was there and clearly they were rushed at end and didn't even tighten the caliper. The regional manager, John Fowkes, was helpful in the process as far as communication, but always used his boss (never got a name) as the one making the decision on reimbursing me for my Md bill and nothing else. I'd stay away from this service station. As many of the other reviews indicate, they have a customer service issue, and according to my experience, they have a safety issue, which is even more alarming. Please choose your mechanic wisely. This was really a scary situation and one that was handled completely inappropriately. They NEVER even apologized. read more

Spent over $1300 here on new tires and had to wait 9 hours and given 3 different final prices.when I got it back the tire pressure sensor wasn't working. The gentleman told me to just drive with it and it will reset. It didn't. Called and was told it would be about 30-40 min wait to fix and to bring it in whenever and give work order no.
