I realized I my inspection was expired since 12w/31/24. 1 barely remember anything. In the meantime, I now use a wheelchair. KURT came to my car, pointed out a close spot and proceed to assist by getting my chair and wheeling to a safe space inside. I bought four new tires on Friday and today two are flat. (5 days) Found this out after driving on parkways earlier today. The car felt 'off'. Scary stuff. Managed to get my now dangerous car back to the shop here. Dim&it receptionist told me to come back tomorrow. Uh, no. Waiting for service. Much bs. Beware. I've already reached out to corporate. Keep away. Far away. Further conversation.....the kid in charge tells me it must be my fault. Can't make this stuff up. When I said that I could have gotten blowouts on the parkway...I was told...'that's on you'. Update...over two hours later, following long wait as they were taking care of 'paying customers'....per the rude technician. I only got serviced because I called corporate, and corporate called them. Two of the four tires were mounted incorrectly. I literally watched them being remounted, but the horrible technician told me that I had dented rims. When asked how they managed to miss that on Friday, this rocket scientist told me that in the 31 miles I had driven since getting the tires....'well.... YOU did something'. If the rims were dented, it was because I drove on two flat mis mounted tires. He also damaged the cable for my emergency brake. He told me I was lucky that there was no charge. OMG. In touch with corporate. Further update.....2/22/2024...called by "Mike" from corporate. More BS.....OMG...keep as far away from this business as you can. This fool now telling me that I must have hit a curb...flattening the tires myself. 3/15/2024.....still no apology, etc. No surprise. So, when I was there last month having tires improperly done, the manager gave me a laundry list of various things wrong with my car.... According to him I needed front and rear brakes, struts, and a few other overpriced things done in addition to the mangled tire job. I refused, as I have an excellent mechanic. I subsequently called American Express and they suspended payment and started an inquiry. Eventually I received a letter from American Express that stated that I had never contacted Mavis and that the charges would be put back on my bill. I called American Express, gave them the dates and times of my calls to Mavis, and they again suspended the charges. When I called Mavis from the contact number on the American Express letter I was informed the reason why they told American Express that I never contacted them was because they had my name misspelled on their side (but they still have my phone #). I made an appointment on line for 1 pm. For a nail in my rear tire. When I arrived, at 12:45 pm, I was told that there were 2 cars ahead of me. So I waited. My car was finally taken in around 1:55 pm . Almost an hour past my appointment time. My car was in the bay for about 5 minutes, when I was called in and told that they couldn't plug the tire, because the treads were too low, and that I needed tires. I told them that i wasn't buying tires and I just wanted my car back. I took my car to a local repair shop , the next day, who plugged my tire, in fifteen minutes. While my tires are not new, they have plenty of life left. The only reason for the two stars was because the staff were pleasant. read more

Avoid at all cost. Somehow worse than they were years ago. There's a mechanic that doesn't know how to place tires on a car. Placed and replaced the same lug nut several times. I drive off with a click and metal sounds when reaching above 15mph. The place closed at 5 but the car was turned over to me at 5:25. It was on the lift for at least 2 1/2 hours. High turnover of mechanics as well. Won't go back there for anything. The workers are courteous, but stressed. Not a BBB accredited business. read more

Every single time I bring my car into mavis they try to scam me for something I don't need. It's getting ridiculous. The Wantagh Mavis forgot to put a key piece back onto my dad's car when they fixed it and if this was not caught it would've caused a major accident. They are lazy and scammers. I called their advertised number to obtain a price match for tires that I researched and found available at Sam's Club. Mavis advertises that it will beat any other local competitor pricing. I received an email the same day stating that they could beat the price and asked if I wanted to schedule an appointment. I asked what my final "out the door" price would be including installation and tax, because that's what matters. Apparently, Mavis likes to play the add on game! When Michael from corporate promised their final price with taxes "out the door" was better than what I had received from Sam's Club, I said sure, let's schedule it. I received a call telling me my tires were in and I could come whenever I wanted. Even though my original appointment was for 10:00 am, the manager who called said I could come in now or tomorrow as scheduled. I asked if I could come first thing in the morning when they opened and he told me yes. Great, I told him. I'll see you tomorrow. I arrived about 15 minutes before they opened and they were there on time. They took me in right away, but as I was giving them the keys, now is when the numbers game starts. I perform most of my own work. Oil changes, brake changes, and most easy to medium skilled level repairs. I know my car very well and know when something's wrong and what I need to do to fix it. They first started with do I want the alignment to go along with the tire installation. I decline saying that the car drives perfectly straight and the old tires wore out perfectly even, so an alignment wasn't necessary. Then they asked if I wanted the extended warranty. I tell them nope, I'm not interested, even though the tires are already warrantied from the manufacturer already. It says so on Mavis' website. In fact, Sam's offers a free Road Hazard warranty as part of the $20 per tire installation package. Mavis told me their installation package is $19.99 per tire, and I assumed it would include things everything needed like new valve stems, just like what most other installers include. But the manger tells me nope and asked if if I wanted new valve stems. I was shocked! So I declined, and now I can see that they're going to try to get every last penny that they can out of me! I'm actually surprised that they didn't try to charge me for air! I will say that the installation went pretty quickly, but when I go up to the desk to settle, the price they tell me I owe is about $30 more than what I was told it would be. I tell them absolutely not, and they needed to check with the price match manager so they could confirm the final, "out the door price" I was quoted. They told me I needed to contact the guy myself. So a phone call is made, but no answer. I then send him an email and receive a call back about 15 minutes later. He tells me that the price I was getting was lower than I would have paid at Sam's Club. But it wasn't. They played all kinds of games with numbers including trying to charge me a number on the day of my installation that looked like a price match, but didn't include the $25 deposit I already paid when I had them make my appointment. All I can say is, get your final quote in writing to include everything including the tire disposal fee and be valve stems and everything else you might need, before you bring your car in for new tires. Otherwise, they put a hard sell on you for everything as an extra and say it wasn't included in the original quote. I heard them did this to at least 3 other customers while I was there waiting to get my car back after the installation was completed. I have no issues with the work, but watch out for the numbers games that they play which to me is very dishonest! My recommendation is go to a Costco or Sam's or BJ's because they won't play games with the numbers. The price you get quoted at those places includes everything that is normally included when you get new tires. Mavis told me they would put the old tires on my trunk if I wasn't going to pay the "extra" "tire disposal fee". Really? This is exactly the kind of games they play that I'm talking about. When I ask for a quote, don't tell me your price will beat your competitor's pricing, but then hit me with all kinds of extras that aren't included, but are included at the competitors in their installation fees. This is dishonest and leaves a real bad taste in my mouth. I will probably never return to this Mavis Tire shop after dealing with this nonsense and observing how they did the exact same thing to every other customer who walked in the door after their appointments were made. The rep on the phone that took the appointment was extremely accommodating. I requested a synthetic-oil blend change and tire rotation. He said for $29.99 synthetic oil-blend change, he would include the tire rotation change. My Ford Escape needed the ABS sensor changed as it was mal-functioning. He said that will also be taken care of and the inspection. When I picked up the car, they said the person with the Ford-Code diagnose machine left it home. It is hard to believe that they do not possess a few at their business location. Secondly, I did not notice until I arrived home that they charged me $16+ for the tire rotation. When I called, they said I have to return to show them the charge in order to determine whether they can refund me over the phone. Now, I need to go somewhere else for the ABS-sensor fix. Bad customer experience all around. I recommend GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. There are plenty of other places that do not over promise, not say what they will do, and overcharge you. read more

Went for a tire rotation and next thing my hood was open The manager said it's company policy to have the hood open. When I called corporate office they stated there is no were saying that if you go for a tire rotation you must have hood open. The engine bay has nothing to do with tires. Manager was also very nasty when I ask for my car back he told me no it's on lift already. He ended up giving me car right back and not doing the tire rotation. I purchased a pair of tires on line, called Mavis to install, they quoted $65, and said come right over. Price when I got there was $118 to mount and balance and discard old tires. Said quote was for a different size. Ok, no a huge deal... asked me to come back in an hour as it's their lunch break, ok, came back in an hour, said there was one car in front of me, waited another 45 min, I notice two guys working. two kicking back on a break, I asked the desk again, they said it's their break and then the other two will go on break... so after waiting over two hours I just left. If I could give this place less than one star I would. This place is a disgrace. I had a 9am appt for an oil change and didn't get a call until 1:30 that it was done.... I get to my car and the percentage wasn't changed and no oil sticker in the window ? Are you serious? He takes my car back in to do this and it took him another 15 minutes to clear the oil percentage and put a sticker in the window. And the sticker he wrote is a waste of time. WHAT A JOKE!! The kid at the front is a "manager" working there 3 weeks. This place has gone DOWN HILL. I do not recommend. I will be finding another place to go from now on. read more

After leaving my car in their hands, they call me up telling me I needed all brakes done, and started tacking on other ridiculous charges that they said would amount to $1250. WHAT? Took my car to Olympic Service Station in Oceanside and the mechanic, Pete told me all I needed was front brakes and rotors. (P.S. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.) Mavis does it again... 5 (million) stars. Got my brakes changed and the guys bought me and my girlfriend pizza. Had my brakes checked in the summer and Mavis told me that they were actually only 50% worn (despite the dealer saying they were 75% worn) and recommended I get them check around this time. I did and they were ready to be replaced. I was told it would take about an hour (30min for the parts to get there and 30 for the labor). I was pretty hungry and so was my lady so I figured I'd order a pizza. The guys were pretty hungry too so they ordered pizza for all of us. When I asked how much it was for the four slices, they said nothing. Honestly the work and customer service here are unparalleled. I cannot go anywhere else. read more

At Mavis Discount Tire in Lynbrook I took my car like I have been for the past five years as my dealer ship in Yonkers it's not convenient as a location is far from me. I I got a flat tire and came in on Sunday. I miss my new tire from Mavis had warranty I didn't pay a lot to replace it. I left and I didn't drive more than two blocks but my car sounded funny Like if they were loose items in the car and when I looked I saw that the Jack wasn't put back because the night before I have the accent and I forgot to put it back. So I turned around and decided to drive back to Mavis just to test the car And sure enough I was still listening to that noise so I went back to Mavis and they explained that this is a serious problem because I broke my suspension cross frame and the bushings so they told me to go to a mechanic and they recommended someone long story short it was Sunday the place is closed so asking friends I was recommended to another mechanic. When I went to go drop off the car the mechanic told me that it was not only my suspension, bushings But now as well this is Spenton control arm and when I called Mavis to speak to the store manager which I have spoken to on many occasions over the years he made me feel at ease because I I am no car expert and I wasn't sure if the mechanic was trying to overcharge me and unfortunately since the damage was so big I had to spend more than expected but I feel comfortable knowing that I'm not being ripped off thanks to Mavis giving me excellent advice when they didn't do the job so they go above and beyond :) But I do have to mention because careful because not everyone who goes in to the store wears a mask :( read more

Walked in without an appointment and was immediately helped. I had several leaking tires due to nails in the road. They offered to checked all four tires for me. Two hours later they couldn't find any nails and said the only tire I wasn't having an issue with needed to be replaced. Oh did I mention they said I need new brakes too?!? Yeaaa thanks. Typically I go to a family friend to service my vehicle. I went to him a month ago for an oil change, nail in the tire and replacement of coils. Since he checked out the entire car, I knew that my car would pass inspection since everything was recently checked and my car being fairly new. Since Mavis RVC was right by my job, I decided to schedule a NYS inspection. The man on the phone was very nice and confirmed the appointment. He then called to tell me that my two rear tires didn't pass inspection. I was shocked. He then tried to sell me 2 tires with rotation, alignment and inspection for $675. I knew I didn't need new tires. I decided to pick up my car and bring it to my trusted mechanic. There was NOTHING wrong with my car. Ironically, His NYS inspection machine didn't say I needed new tires. I walked out of there 18 minutes later and only spending $37. Go to people who you trust! Mavis RVC tries to scam you. read more
