Once again I drove into Mavis with a problem. Second time in the past month. First time my valve stem was the issue. At that point they told me my rear shocks were leaking.... I was not happy as my car has under 35000 miles. Had to take it to the dealership as I have an extended warranty. Sunday my battery was dead. We jumped the car and it ran. Ince it was turned off it wouldn't restart. Not sure if I also had an auxiliary battery. Called and asked if they were able to replace one or both. As usual the reply was yes! Went over and dropped the car. They called me a little while later. We only have one battery. So they replaced it for me. Done with the whole situation in about 2-3 hours, ( I would be at the dealership much longer) Again nothing but positive feedback here. Polite, friendly and fast honest service. read more

Just wanted to shout out a bad experience that I had over there. I bought 4 new tires from them 3 months ago and the two-front ones appeared shot. I went to get an oil change somewhere else and they mention I need two front tires, I'm like that can't be but I did notice something odd with the front left. So I went back to Mavis, they tell me 4 or 5 other things that now need to be done and take no responsibility for the defective tires. On top of that they tell me 4 other things that I need and what happened to the tire is not under warranty. They try getting the other parts that are needed and while I'm pleading my case, they say maybe they can throw in one of the tires free of charge. After trying either online or via phone to get the parts that they claim I need they say that they can't get them. So I left and now have to replace at least the two tires, brought to another mechanic and now I'm awaiting a phone call from them. Stay away from these people as they will try to rip you off read more

We recently went to our Mavis Tire in Island Park, which is our regular mechanics service for our 2012 Honda and our new 2024 Subaru, and as usual...received the best services you can get. Vish is our usual "go to guy" for any auto issues, however, this time he introduced us to two additional excellent service men, Justin and Tyrone. The service we received from these gentlemen was excellent! They are both understanding and patient and knowledgable of our auto issues. They were certainly focused on customer service. We are thankful to Vish and his great crew at Mavis. We now have 2 more reasons to have faith in the service we get at Marvis... Justin and Tyrone! I want to give a big shout out to Vish at Mavis tire in Island Park. My car was showing a strange message on the dashboard screen. I called the dealer who said it was probably a weak battery , it would be fine to wait, and they could take it next Monday. It bothered me to wait so long, so I went over to Mavis, where I go for oil changes, inspections, etc. The manager, Vish, took me right in without an appointment, and tested the battery. Turns out I needed a new battery. They installed it and I was on my way in under a hour. I can't even imagine what could have happened if I decided to wait until Monday. read more

Know how to judge a place? Take a look at the customers. There was the sorriest gaggle of clueless mutts I've ever seen assembled in one place thinking they were getting a deal on a discounted oil change. They're getting a deal alright. Want to be sold stuff you don't need? Wanna let some bonehead monkey-hammer your car? This is the place for you. Don't forget the 100-point inspection! According to my "service adviser/team member" I need: Oil change Brake fluid flush Power steering fluid flush New battery New front struts New rear struts New tires Front Brakes Rear Brakes oh yea -- Four tires Funny thing is my car doesn't need any of this stuff. But they showed me a printout that said "FAIL" on top in red. Here's a tip for dealing with these leeches if you absolutely have to go there for tires (don't even think of getting anything fixed there): Since they price tires on the P.C. Richard Principle or "what's the most we can get from this loser," look up the tires you want on their Web Site and demand they meet the advertised price. They'll try to steer you to some Chinese Fulken or Dragon Master knockoff for the price of Generals or Michelins, but use the brain God gave you. Wow, just imagine what oil they put in those cars. Oh yea, and check your lug nuts. They'll either be loose, missing here and there or be so tight your brake rotors are warped. Oh yea, now you need brake rotors too. read more

Today (Sunday) I called Mavis because I needed a small repair and oil change. They told me to bring my car right in for service. After getting there and looking at my car, I was told that they wouldn't repair it today. In the past when this business was STS, the service was always prompt, courteous and reliable. I was surprised to get the brush off. We have several cars in the family, and over the years, I have probably bought more than a dozen tires at this location plus spent thousands of dollars on other repairs. Management certainly does not know how to treat a loyal customer. My future business goes elsewhere. Lots of other places in Oceanside and Island Park. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. no customer service skills. We gave them one chance for an oil change that we made an appointment for two weeks in advance and they didn't order the filter for my SUV. Went to my dealership instead. Got the royal treatment. Decided to give them a second chance , figured they may had an off day. Made an inspection appointment for 9 am. Got there at 830 am. It's 951 and I'm still not in. What a joke. Much better experience this time . I don't like to mention names but it is best to go when the head honcho is present. The head manager has been at the Island Park location for quite some time and I have to say that you may not like everything that he has to say but he is honest and has never steered us wrong . He will work with you and try his best to give you the best rate so that you don't break the bank . There will be times when he will make certain recommendations that can add more to what you want to pay but they are just recommendations. He is not forcing anything on you or putting you in a tough spot. Our vehicle needed front and rear brake pads. Thank goodness it did not cut into the rotors . Unfortunately when I was in on Sunday the pads was out of stock and needed to be ordered and it was not going to get in on Sunday . They suggested going to the Rockville Centre location which I did . Big mistake ! When they put the car on the lift at Rockville Centre, I was called to the back and the mechanic mentioned that the car needed rotors and the rear needed new calipers. I asked them why Island Park did not mention any of this ? Not going to elaborate but they did not say the most pleasant things about Island Park. I told them to please take the car off the lift and I will get another opinion. I called back Island Park and had them order the pads . I came in the following day and the job is done. No mention what so ever about needing calipers. Since leaving the place, I drove the car local and so far so good. I am sure that Island Park does not want to be liable if our vehicle really needed calipers and failed to let us know . Thank you Island Park for being honest and saving us close to $600 read more

Amazing customer service! I left work and had a nail in my tire. I tried FOUR places on Long Beach Rd leaving Long Beach. Every single place turned me away except for Mavis. They had just closed but the guy (named Brian I believe!) opened the garage door for me and patched my tire anyway. Human decency really goes a long way, and I will always keep this in mind from now on. One of the places I stopped at previously was Goodyear on Long Beach Rd. They were all a bunch of rude a$$holes. I said I had a nail and I was desperate he said "maybe you should try coming on business hours." They closed four minutes ago. And there were three mechanics sitting around doing nothing. Came into Mavis today after realizing I had air leaking from my tire. I called a the number that came up for the location, and was routed to a call center (which doesn't make you aware of that) they told me to come into the location "there is no wait" Came in, and yes, there didn't appear to be much of a wait, and both the mechanic and the front desk told me it should take "NO MORE THEN AN HOUR" just to replace 1 tire. I was there for 3 hours...every time I would come up to the front desk and ask the young man how much longer, he would shut me up by saying "another 10-15 min they are finishing up, just to go outside and see my car sitting on the lift for about an hour and a half. Bottom line this place, and their employees have absolutely 0 regard for peoples time. I didn't even get as much as a sorry or acknowledgment of how long I had to wait. If you say its going to be no more then an hour, it should be just that. Its a monday, people have jobs to get to and things to do. Have some more consideration. read more

Got a flat tire and went to them to replace my tire with the same brand . They didn't have it so they said they'd order it and have it the next day . The next day comes and they find out the tire got cancelled . So instead of taking responsibility they blamed their warehouse and sold me a cheaper tire saying it's somehow better . So far so good. This place was my second choice. I went to the Mavis in Long Beach first, where I was met with "I can't price-match because our tires are already discounted." Even when I showed lower prices (including shipping, etc.) on my phone, the answer on LB was that they couldn't "do anything" unless I'd printed out those quotes and brought the physical piece of paper with me. Well, that's some ridiculous BS. And a lie, as they've price-matched for years. So here I am in Island Park now and these guys are cranking out the work on my SUV. No one else here except me, the manager and two friendly garage workers. The manager worked with me on price-matching my tires, had them istock, and worked with me on an oil change and full alignment too. I'll not only never, ever go back to the LB location, but now I'm bringing my whole family's cars to this dude in Island Park. My normal Mavis had to long of a wait and decided to give the new guys a try! I figured tire just needs a fix what can go wrong. Well 25 minutes later I am told I need a new tire this is to far gone and the hole was fixed once before . I said okay what do you have for me, I advise the manager I bought my tires from Mavis under 2 years ago and have the warranties . The manager stops me and tells me I need to go to a different Mavis since he doesn't have my tires in stock . Okay so I go to my normal Mavis Long Beach . Guess what the tired had a screw in it not repaired prior and 20mins later all fixed free of charge under that warrante. I will be waiting from now on no matter how long it takes. read more

I purchased Mavis Tires at a different location a year ago under warranty and had a problem when one tire went flat at night. I put air in the tire and although it seemed alright the next morning I wanted the tire checked for safety reasons. They didn't want to be bothered helping me claiming they had 3 cars ahead of me (not a sole in the waiting room) and possibly more cars ahead of me. I was also told they didn't have enough help and was told I should go to another location. I was also told I would wait a minimum of 1 1/2 hours. Short and simple...really lousy service!!! read more
