About two years ago, my tire pressures were low, and I stopped by Mavis Tires & Brakes. From the moment I walked through the front door, I felt at ease. The woman at the front desk immediately got a technician to come and help me.. The technician filled all of my tires and answered my many questions. The technician was very kind and polite. Today, match 1, 2026, I went in to ask about a wheel alignment., and once again, customer service did not disappoint. The young lady at the reception desk was as lovely as could be. She quoted me a price, and told me when to return. I returned within the timeframe, and my car was serviced in under an hour. I asked questions which the young lady happily answered. I received a brightly colored schematic showing the before and after. I was told there's a three month warranty if I should hit a pit hole. I was told that Mavis tires & brakes can check to see if an alignment is needed free of charge. In total I paid $124.79 for the tire alignment As someone who spent much of my adult life in customer service., I recognize and acknowledge good, great, and excellent customer service, and the services that I have received at Mavis tires & brakes have been outstanding. read more

I recently came to this location for a battery check, car is 6 years old and never had a battery replaced so I knew it was time. After confirming my battery needed replacing, the rep tried to tell me my alternator was FAILING at 13.7v which falls within the normal range (especially on a hot day). To tell me the alternator was failing is absurd. When I refused the $1,100 alternator replacement (pricing is also absurd), he proceeded to tell me that the warranty on the battery would be nullified if my alternator "failed". Please do not use scare tactics to try and upsell me. My brother in law warned me about this place. I should have listened. Would NOT return and do NOT recommend due to their pushy sales tactics alone. read more

We came back from our trip from New York and our car had sat for four days, when we went to drive it it was a screeching loud sound, and we couldn't figure out where it was coming from, we called Mavis to see if they could just look at it and figure out what it was and they said, of course. We brought it in and they looked at our car and determined that it was a rock in between our rotor and brakes they didn't charge us and were so helpful to get us in and out. I had my brakes done here once and I had no other issues before I brought my car to them. I left with a weird rattle and brought it back just to be told that there was "nothing wrong." I had a friend look at it and found something loose on the caliper (which wasn't an issue pre-Mavis). I do not trust this establishment or their lying staff. Purchased 4 tires a year ago and figured it was time for a tire rotation. I dug up my invoice, hoping to find a mention of tire rotation, but didn't. I happened upon an offer for FREE tire rotation on the Mavis website, made an appointment and went down. Kathy (Cathy?) greeted me, and said that yes, a FREE tire rotation goes with every tire purchase! In went my car, and they gave it the once over - brakes, battery, wipers, the whole lot. Out it came, and he only things Rick (the tech) commented on were squeaky wiper blades and to think about changing rear shocks. I was in and out in 20 minutes. Absolutely terrible experience. I will never be back. The manager is rude. The price I was quoted over the phone was misleading as it was not mentioned that taxes and fees were not in the price I was quoted. I went to my appointment and the manager asked if I had brought the special parts they need to change a tire on a Tesla. I am not a tire store they are, to not have the tools needed to perform their job is not my problem. When I came back the next morning for my appointment it took an hour longer than they said. So nothing this place told me was true, just plain unprofessional. The manager lady just kept blaming everything on the corporate office in NY. I would rather drive on flat tire and ruin my rims than buy a tire from Mavis. Buyer beware. read more

Called for a quote on tires for an out the door price including all. When I went to ring out, it was higher. They told me that I called a call center (had no idea) and that they could not cost with tax, which of course no one told me. Its hard to believe that I can estimate a tax in most every other country in the world however Mavis cannot estimate tax within the United States, especially where they have stores where they know the tax rate....Knowing this, I would of gone to any other garage in the country and purchased tires knowing how much it would of cost prior to the surprise at checkout.... read more

The staff was really nice and I felt like they were trustworthy. That's the good. The bad was they didn't have my tire in stock and had to order it. When they changed the tire they said they would rotate the new one to the back but they didn't. They left the new tire sticker on so now I have wet sticky paper clogging my tread which is a poverty look. The tire they installed was over inflated and they lost the cap to my tire stem. This is our go-to repair shop for general maintenance of our Toyota Prius'. The staff is very friend, knowledgeable and communicative. Never have we felt like we were getting jipped or up sold. There have been a couple of times where something still wasn't quite right after a repair (this has happened to us at other shops too that don't specialize in hybrids). This is the only reason I dropped a star. The two times I remember this happening, they made it right without a charge and within a reasonable amount of time. I had my brakes replaced at this location. Immediately thereafter they began to squeak during normal driving. I returned to the same location to have the brakes looked at due to the noise they were making. I was assured by the techs that it had nothing to do with the work that they performed on my vehicle. They tried to tell me it was my suspension. I subsequently went to another mechanic for a second opinion and they confirmed my suspicion that the brake work was not done properly. I have reached out to customer service and they refuse to refund my money. They did offer to replace the brakes; however, I refuse to go back a third time. read more

I made an appointment for a tire replacement and arrived at the Indian Land location. I was told by the girl at the front desk that I made the appointment at the wrong location, and while she said it was a common mistake, I couldn't be serviced there. There were no cars in the bay and no other customers in the store. After I protested a bit *and* called the other location to cancel my appointment, she relented and offered to service me. I had the tires replaced on my SUV and paid with a credit card. The total was over $900. I realized within a couple of hours that I used the wrong credit card and went back to the location *in person* and asked if they could use another card. I was given a long explanation and excuse as to why they couldn't do that- I asked her, don't you ever have to void a transaction? Why wouldn't you be able to rerun my card? I have never had this experience before. She promised me a resolution, never heard back. I contacted them through their website asking for a response to my inquiry. Never heard back. I called the office again a couple days later, was told I would be called back with a resolution, never heard back. This cost me an additional $140 and yes, I made a mistake and used the wrong card, but who has ever had a situation where they couldn't void a transaction and rerun the card for me??? Especially within a couple of hours of the original transaction? And why was I never contacted back by either the staff at the store or the customer service through the website? And why was I given a hard time because I arrived at a different location than the website appointment- I had to argue to be seen-It's overall a pretty poor customer service experience and I will warn anyone before going there about what happened and next time I need tires, I will not return. read more

I took it and while I was putting air in the tire I noticed a nail in the tire. went directly to Mavis and explained to them I needed a plug in my tire, as my wife had a Dr. appointment in a few hours. I was advised that I had to leave the car and that they would get to it sometime today. This was not good enough as my wife needed the car. The woman had zero compassion or any customer service. I went up the highway to Discount Tire, who went out of their way to help me. Turned out, the sidewall was also cut and could not be repaired. I then purchased a new set of four tires. I've been using this Mavis location for sometime. They have ALWAYS provided great service and have provided options for various service (match the service to my needs). In today's challenging labor environment the team at this location does a great job in meeting requests when possible, but they are very upfront with what services they are able to complete and provide reasonable expectations of when the work will be completed. I typically drop off my vehicle to be serviced, avoiding having to wait in the waiting area (but there are a few stores nearby if you need to run out). read more

Has earned my business. Extremely polite, very comfortable and open to talk with, was eager to now only tell me about the issues but shown me and explain to me in detail what was going on. The entire crew from management to mechanics was on point with customer service and work ethics. The place was clean, well kept, and the job was done right. I'm mechanically inclined, I did maintence in the military for a long time, small things I pick up on even unintentionally sometimes, and I had nothing but good vibes being there. I do alot of my own work but I believe completely that I can trust these guys. The best part is the prices are better than fair. I was quoted nearly double for half the work at related shops. Called to get price to do rear brakes and rotors. Was given a price of $299 out the door. I get to my appointment and here comes the up sale. I was told the price was $354 but he would give me $54 discount then with $30 sales tax plus I needed to do a brake system Flush. Total $400. This is a long way from $299 out the door. By the way the car was on a lift with all 4 wheels off before I was told this. Original told job would take 1 hour well it took 2 hours. I had given them all vehicle information when I made appointment so I would not to wait on parts, guess what parts not there. Just be up front with your business practices. I would not go back if my vehicle broke down in there parking lot. The only plus the mechanic seemed very efficient , through and quick once he got started. read more

Called to make appointment for an oil change for sat. 11/06/21, and told the price was$80, which I said was high (usually pay $50-60), was told they included a tire rotation, so I agreed. Took vehicle in @ 11 AM, and not done till 2PM, 3 hours! Picked up vehicle, got home and checked if tires had been rotated ( they were marked before) and they hadn't touched a tire. I called Mavis and they said to bring it back and they would do, I told him to forget, I would go to a more reliable firm. Later I checked their rating with BBB and saw they were rated "F". This shop provided the worst service I have ever experienced. The manager (Riccardo) was rude and dismissive. I purchased a set of tires on Amazon and selected the option to have them shipped to Mavis Tires to have them installed. The tires were delivered to the shop as scheduled and an appointment was made for the installation date. I had to change the installation date because the car was in the shop for repair. The appointment was rescheduled for a later date. Prior to the rescheduled appointment date, I called the shop to see if they could install the tires sooner. When speaking with the manager, I informed him that I had ordered the tires and had them delivered there and I wanted to see if they could install them before the scheduled appointment. He then ask for the size and the brand for the tires ordered and proceeded to tell me that they did not have them but he had tires that were comparable to the ones ordered that they could install earlier. Once I verified the tires were indeed comparable to the ones ordered I agreed to drop off the car to have the tires installed. When I arrived to pick up the car I was presented with a bill for over 400.00 for the tires and installation. I then informed the manager the tires and installation was prepaid on Amazon. From that point, the manager rudely told me that they would have to remove the tires installed and reinstall the set originally ordered and I would have to wait in the shop while they changed them. I attempted to tell him that waiting there while they changed the tires was very inconvenient and defeated the purposes of dropping the car off to have the tires installed. He then walk outside in mid conversation to pull the car back into the service area to change the tires, , leaving me standing at the counter waiting. I proceeded to wait for him to come back to the counter but he just remained in the back service area. I had to call the shop on the phone to tell him to call once they were done. When he called to say the car was ready, there was no apology for the inconvenience or mix up. When I arrived to pick up the car the manager was in the back and did not acknowledge me at the counter waiting. He eventually came out and ask me to sign a completion sheet but again offered not apology. My bill was printed and left on the counter with the key. I'm truly disappointed and frankly angry about rude and dismissive treatment I received and will never patronize this business again. They truly lack the qualities of good customer service.
