They said bring it back and we will see what's wrong and will not charge you. Well then they come back saying it's now something else (sure it is) and it will be another $350 !!! So I found this place on a whim, I actually went into Yelp to pull up the number for Sears to call and get a quote for some service recommended by the Honda dealer and after trying to exit Sears a list of recommended places that provide quotes within 24 hours popped up. This was my first time seeing something like this and Boy am I appreciative. Sun City was one of the 5 options in which I messaged 3 of the 5 and received a response from all 3 however the hours and availability as well as the reviews related to Sun is the reason I choose to proceed with Sun City. This place is nestled up a little rocky hill and can easily be mistaken for a small tow yard or parking if driving too fast. I called and schedule an appointment for a FREE diagnosis and upon arriving I was greeted by Sandy who was pleasant and handed me a form to complete as a newbie. I checked in on Yelp and showed Sandy and received my coffee cup (tea cup in my case as I don't drink coffee). The waiting area is small with 4 seats and a television, I was lucky to be there when I was as I had the second seat. Chuck took me out to show me under the car and explain what I needed and he was so thorough to even out the items in order of importance in the chance that the cost was out of budget. I actually decided to get everything done as the total for it all plus several extra things was still 1/4 of the cost provided by the dealer with labor. We were leaving town the next day and Chuck allowed us to leave the car over the weekend and once we picked it up Monday it drove like the day I drove it off the lot new. After my first time dealing with Sun City Automotive, I highly recommend them! First off, I am a former automotive technician for a luxury brand so I prefer to do my own work. But, this time around the issue at hand was a little more involved than I cared to get having little experience with domestic brands. I had a bad experience with another local shop following a previous repair so I figured it was time to search a new place. Cruising the interwebs looking for local Fort Mill auto repair facilities I came across SCA. I also found very positive reviews regarding the repair experiences and staff. Initially, I rolled in for a second opinion diagnosis. They were courteous and prompt at handling that and explained the findings as well the usually daunting price estimate and potential secondary issues that could arise in the section of the vehicle they would be working around. I appreciated that advanced warning, rather than a followup call after the repairs had begun. (Although, since I work in the industry I understand some things cannot be avoided. They are technicians, after all, and not automobile mind readers.) I was concerned about the cost of doing business on ones rear end ( umm I mean rear axle assembly), but the estimate was indeed fair and better than I had imagined. I went to Sun City Automotive not too long ago and they diagnosed my vehicle for me. They came up with a laundry list of items that needed to be fixed or replaced and it all seemed to be a little too much, so I got a second opinion, as most people should do. A lot of the "problems" found were dismissible as my car showed no signs of having certain issues, or the repairs weren't as extensive as they put them down as. At the second shop I went to they were able to fix things for less and I trusted them more. Sun City employees were kind and prompt, but I wouldn't go back. Brought my car in because breaks were making noise and was told it might be a few different things and it might cost me about $600/$700 and I was like ok, car has over 100,000 miles so repairs are needed. I have also been using sun city a while now so I trust them. I call about the car after all repairs were made to get the price and I was told I owed them nothing!!! I was blown away!! I would like to share a story about my experience at Sun City recently. Sun city is open on Saturdays, which is the only day I can take my car into the shop. I needed a standard oil change. No problem, in and out with a car wash, which was awesome. Shortly afterwards, I notice my check tire pressure light is on. When I come to a stop I see one of my tires is completely flat. I call back to Sun City to tell them and the gentleman that handled my oil change took his personal car to come meet me about 4 miles away. It turns out my tire pin was corroded and would need to be replaced. He put on my spare and took the tire in to the shop. He said they could do it Monday. I get a call 2 hours later saying my tire is done. At this time it's about 4:30 and the shop closed at 3. They said I could come in today and get it put back on. So what should have taken another day took 2 hours and saved me 3 days without my car. Also they charged me nothing for the tire fiasco. Sun City went above and beyond for me. I have had wonderful experiences with John and his team. I had major work done that was very reasonable priced. I was called with a quote and explanation of the issues. In addition on a holiday weekend I had a break issue. They took my car in an hour before they closed to check on the problem. It couldn't be repaired that day so I was given a very nice loaner car at no charge to make sure I was able to work over the holiday. We took my husbands truck in to get an oil change at a Honest One in Fort Mill a few weeks ago. They told us that the front control arm and ball joint needed replaced and it would cost us $550. I called John at Sun City Automotive for a quote. He quoted me at way less than $550. We dropped the truck off, he called us the next day after looking at the truck and couldn't find anything wrong with it. We will never use another place for our car needs ever again. Last year I had Sun City replace my transmission. My truck was in the shop over 3 weeks and there was very little communication. They told me it would have a 3 yr unlimited mileage warranty. After replacement it has been acting up for a while but in the mean time Ford had a couple of recalls on the transmission so I decided to take it to Ford first. After Ford did the reprogramming on the transmission it still did not help. I was not in a rush to get it back because I knew I had three years. Finally I had a chance to take it back to Sun City for them to check it out. They checked it (after 4 days in the shop) and then informed me that the transmission would have to be replaced. Now they tell me that it is out of warranty which they claim is 12 mts 12000 miles. Not what they told me originally. Guess I should have gotten it in writing. Will not be going back. read more

I'm a young woman and going into an auto shop and asking about pricing and what all needs to be done with my vehicle can be intimidating to say the least. Everyone at this shop goes out of their way to make you feel informed and comfortable and they are always honest and fair with pricing. I live in Charlotte and will make the drive to Fort Mill every time my car has a need. My starter went out in South End Charlotte and the AAA Shop that it was towed to was going to charge me triple what John quoted me. I made one call and he stopped what he was doing to get me a quote on the part and to tell me that what they were going to charge me I was way too much. He saved me $300 on that one fix. This shop rocks! It is really hard finding an honest auto shop when you move to a new place. I am SO happy I decided to come here for an oil change. This was the second shop I came to, the first one was in Rock Hill and they told me I would need to spend over $200 on a tune-up for my car the next time I needed and oil change. I knew that was pretty steep for a tune-up, so I called Sun City to see what kind of an estimate they would give me. The guy on the phone said they wouldn't give me an estimate since they would need to see if my car would even need any work or parts. He said, "I am not just gonna throw new parts on your car if it doesn't need it." This made me so happy to hear!! I brought my car in for an oil change and when they inspected the car afterwards they said it was running like a dream. I was so happy that I was only having to pay for an oil change, and not $200 more on unnecessary work like the last shop was going to try to charge me. So happy to find an honest shop!!! I would really question the reliability and quality of Sun City Automotive, when they can't even provide a quote for repairs! I would suggest going somewhere else, which I did. I went there early Tuesday morning asked for a quote to do an engine and transmission swap on my son's escape. The girl in the office took down all of the information including my phone number and email and said the owner would get back to me in a few hours. No call came, so I called right before they closed, she said they had been real busy and that he would do the quote that night and call me in the morning. Well here it is THURSDAY, later afternoon and still no call or email for a quote ! If this is any indication of the type of work they do there, I would definitely find someone else. read more

Sun City Automotive was on the list and they had some pretty good reviews, so I just decided to give them a shot. They did not disappoint! They took me in without an appointment the same day I called. They were able to diagnose the problem and take care of it, within a few hours. This is where you want to take your car. They are very busy and the shop is hidden. I was almost glad that I had the problem it wound up costing me $259 to replace a wheel bearing on my Silverado. I am chasing vintage Ford Mustangs and tracked one to Fort Mill. Issue: I live in Georgia. Issue2: I needed a mechanic to put the pony up on a lift and give it a close look. Knew no one in Fort Mill.
