Went in for an Uber inspection at the Dekalb location on Wednesday and was told I needed new tires. Was not charged for the failed inspection. Got new tires and went back for an inspection at the Geneva location since my tire shop is out here and was failed for windshield wipers. This week my brakes developed an intermittent scraping noise. Called Mavis on Tuesday and they were able to fit me in on Wednesday morning! Good discussion with manager John who was knowledgeable and upbeat. Waited only 45 min while they checked everything. I also knew I needed a rear wheel bearing, so I had that assessed as well. They quickly determined after a test drive and check while up on the lift that the noise was sticking rear caliper brakes but that my front/rear pads and rotors were good. Definitely needed to change out the rear wheel bearing, but that would be less expensive because they would already be working on the rear brakes. They asked about wipers, which I also needed, and they checked both cabin and engine air filters. Work was done by that afternoon, and was happy to learn that air filters did not need changing. My dad picked me up in his Tesla and he was surprised to learn they had Tesla wiper blades in stock which he needed changing. Much better price than dealer blades/labor. So, no upsells or unnecessary work was advised. I am happy to have another trustworthy garage for wheels/brakes/& misc. upkeep. read more

Mavis in Geneva went above and beyond to help me with my vehicle. I got a flat tire right next to the location. They weren't open yet and I made the executive decision to try to change to my spare in the parking lot. I'm pregnant and had a screaming little baby in my back seat. I started the process on my own, but as two employees (Brett and John) showed up to work they saw me struggling and immediately jumped to help me. They helped me not as employees, but as kind humans that just saw someone struggling. I was so appreciative of their help! I went on my way to work and called from work to make an appointment with them to replace all four of my tires with them. I brought my 2019 forester to get my rotors and pads replaced, I came back a month later because some squeaking in the rear, I paid for a new set of rear pads to get installed them, like 2 months later I took my car to the dealership to get oil change that they told me that my rear rotors and pads are bad and that they have never been replaced, the dealership mechanic showed me on My car that it still has the original parts so I got charged by Mavis close to $400 for something that never got replaced, this guys in that shop ripped me off twice but no more, I'll try to get my money back or get an attorney to fix this problem, I suggest everyone to stay away from this Geneva Mavis shop read more

Wow. This place is dangerous. I had a customer bring his car in fr rear brakes . He had told me he just had them done two weeks ago. Mavis tire told him after they gave him a bill for 900 dollars we can't bleed your brakes you'll have to bring it back. The truck had no brakes at all only emergency brakes . They have kids working there that just care the calipers were installed upside down . They will never get air out of brakes . He brought it back to them three times they said they don't know what's the matter . I can't tell if they even sold him rotors with the amount of rust on them after 2 weeks . People beware. To top it off I worked up a price what I would have charged it came out to 600 where did they get an extra 300 dollars. read more

After a set of new tires my car needed to be aligned. It was completed and then started pulling to the left. I was disheartened because I had a road trip planned. I returned two days later. Although I needed to know this prior to paying for the service at Mavis, the issue was not with Mavis but the tires. Bret explained the issue in detail and then joined me on the call to the tire store. He took ownership of his end and communicated his findings so that the tire shop was armed with details. Had 4 new tires installed by Mavis Tires & Brakes in Geneva on May 21. Left for an out-of-state road trip with my family over Memorial Day weekend on May 26. While we were driving on the highway the tire pressure indicator came on, so we took the nearest exit and discovered that one of the rear tires was completely flat!! We were incredibly lucky to have made if off the highway before an accident occurred! We found a Firestone nearby and they accessed the situation - they found no punctures whatsoever in the tire. They said that the bead wasn't seated properly due to the rim not being cleaned off before the new tire was installed causing a slow leak at highway speeds. The tire was not repairable and we had to buy a brand new tire that cost $201. As you can imagine, I was completely devastated after already spending a lot of money at Mavis, and this was total negligence on their part. Firestone took pictures of the uncleaned rim, gave me back the damaged tire, and also provided written paperwork detailing the errors made by Mavis. When we returned from vacation I called Mavis and spoke to someone named Brett and explained the situation. He claimed to not find any of my information in their system for a whole 5 minutes or so before "miraculously" finding it. Told me to bring my car in later that day so he could take a look at it. When I arrived he was extremely unpleasant to me and told me there was nothing he could do except take my brand new tire off and give me one of their tires so that I would "have a matching set" again. How in the world does that make any sense?? I don't care about having a matching set of tires - I care only about having a tire that was installed correctly! I asked to be refunded for the tire that wasn't installed properly plus to be reimbursed for the new tire I had to buy because of their error, which I don't think is an outrageous request. He said: "That's not gonna happen because my manager won't allow that." Wow. I asked to speak with his manager and he told me I would be called by the manager the next day. I did not receive a call, so I called back again today and spoke with Sam. She was even ruder to me than Brett was!! Right off the bat when I just said my name her voice turned on a dime, as if she was instructed to be that way. Told me that the manager was "in the hospital and very sick and he'll get back to you when he's able to and not on YOUR timeline". Such a strange thing to say that I hope is not just an excuse. In any case, what an awful way to treat a customer. Just incredibly rude people that I never want to deal with again. I expect them to keep blowing me off, so I will probably take this to small claims court and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Apparently Mavis does not care about their customers or guarantee their work. Based on this experience I will never take my vehicle to Mavis again and implore you to please use caution before using their services! read more

Bret and John at the Geneva shop were extremely accommodating. I had my brake pads and rotors done at a different Mavis location only 3 months ago and they began squeaking and the steering wheel was shaking. Bret took it for a drive and stood by the warranty. Replaced the pads and rotors for free! This has been my go to location, but tried the other since I was "in the neighborhood". Never again! I will always return to Geneva - especially with such great guys like Bret and John! read more
