On my way home to Clearwater after working in Gainesville for a few days, and while going through Crystal River, a shock blew out. Found a firestone and they said I need two new back tires, and going briefly mentioned the shock. They did not have the tire size in stock. I called Mavis and was told they do have the tires. I had to drive 30 miles an hour, 9 miles, but made it. They took care of everything and showed me the shock. It was severely damaged which made it a dangerous situation. This is an experience I recently had with Mavis Tire and Brakes in Lecanto. If I am wrong, or otherwise missing something here I am sure you'll let me know, and if it is constructive I appreciate it. We needed a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) replacement for our vehicle. That's basically the valve stem which monitors the tire pressure for that tire. There is one for each tire. If a sensor is not functioning there is a warning light displayed on the dash. The warning displayed that only 1 of the 4, TPMS' was not functioning properly. So, I called Mavis. I was told that they could replace it with no problem and that they were not busy now. I drove over, walked into the store and saw that they were indeed busy. So, I talked with a very nice gentleman at the desk (they do not wear name tags). I told him what I thought I needed and made an appointment for 0930 the next day. I arrived at 0920 and checked in. At approximately 11:10 I was called to the desk. A gentleman explained what was wrong, he explained the replacement process. I was good with it and asked what the price was. It was at this time the gentleman tried the upsell of replacing all 4 sensors. DISCLAIMER: I understand upselling, I don't disagree with it, I don't have a problem with it. I appreciate being updated on possible problems and/or inconveniences. I was told that I could buy 3 sensors and get one free and was told the price. I was not interested in replacing all 4 sensors, just the one. The gentleman tried his hardest to convince me that it was in my best interest to have all 4 replaced. I said I understood the reasoning however I was not interested. I asked if just the one sensor be replaced. The gentleman declined my request and stated that they would not replace just one sensor, they had to replace them all because they did not want to get into something that they might have to repair later. Of course, this makes no sense at all because each tire is handled independently of the others. I made it clear that what they were asking me to do was to replace functioning parts, that they were basically requiring me to pay for repairs that were not necessary, for repairs that I did not need. To be clear, the repairs were not needed for my safety. Further, by only replacing one sensor Mavis was not exposing themselves to any liability. IMO there were no legitimate reasons to replace all 4 sensors, at least not given to me by the gentleman. I asked if it was the policy of that location to require all sensors to be replaced. The gentleman told me that it was. Because he told me this, I did not feel the need to speak to a manager as it was their policy. Use caution and wear high boots when dealing with Mavis Tire and Brakes in Lecanto. I did take my business to Express Oil Change just across the street and the folks were great. Replaced only one sensor while I waited. read more

My wife brought in our car jut for an oil change. Without her asking or giving permission they checked and tried to sell her an air filter, she said no but we have big tree in our front yard that put leaves on hood of car which they let fall in to air intake while trying to sell us something we did not ask for or give permission to do so. As soon as she was driving out of Mavis the engine light come on and started having issues with car, brought back denied any kind of accountability and very rude to wife and talked down to her like she was an idiot. Mavis is not trustworthy and was very insulting towards her. please do not give them your hard earned money. What could improve? Hire actual mechanics not just oil change guys .. Took in car to fix slow tire leak. Was told it was an old nail repair and that they could not fix and I needed to buy new tires. I did so. When I drove the car home it had a new vibration that got worse with speed. Took it back. They told me they rebalanced the tires and I had a bent rim. Took the car to Lexus and they said the tires were out of balance and the rims were fine. Fixed it for free. Vibration is gone!!! I will NEVER go back to this mavis and I caution you!! read more

I purchased tire at their Yulee location after getting my truck back truck shakes at every speed. I live in lecanto and took my truck to get the problem resolved. So I wait in line with 3 customers in front of me. My turn comes, and half way though explaining my situation, the guy behind the counter tells me to hold on so he could help someone else. I tell the guys I have to have my truck back by 3 to return to work, and he gives no shits and says well we close at 5. Whatever that ment. I called and made an appt to buy my Mother a couple of tires for Mother's Day that she needed badly. I live two hours away, and she will be traveling to come see me for the weekend. I told the associate I did not live there and would have to give them a credit card over the phone to pay for the tires. The associate made the reservation. I said I would call back with the tire size to choose and pay for the tires. When I called back, I selected the tires and said I would can pay for them right now. Not sure if you could see my review. I would not recommend Mavis for anything. Their customer service is terrible. I call the number sometimes you get a call center. Sometimes you get the main office in Lecanto. Also, they told me that after putting new tires on my sons car that he needed brakes that it was metal on metal, so I took it to another garage and they said there's no problems with the brakes they had 70% brake pads left. No need to change it so they we're definitely trying to scam me and I'm not happy about it. I told him I was going to write a review on social media and I also sent an email to the customer service line. Be careful of scammers out there. They are everywhere. I was happy that Gary's garage was honest with me about not needing brakes. Also, my mother was recently at Mavis to get tires put on her car and they could not find any paperwork in their computer after I gave them her name her address, her license plate number, her phone number and then they said they can't do nothing about that. fix your computer systems that's such bull! read more

This review is for the Mavis at 1183 N Lecanto Hwy, Lecanto, FL *******. I wish there was zero stars! I asked the price for an oil change on my 80 yr old mother's 2011 Toyota Camry and was told $50.00 for regular oil. My mother the following day brought the car in to have it done. After they got it up on the lift and started draining the oil they told her that had to put synthetic in and the price was $90.00. They made no mention of this when I asked the previous day. They saw an old women come in and shafted her. On a side note, on the same day I asked about the the oil change, I also asked about changing the rear differential fluid on my 1997 Chevy Tahoe and was told that it had to have synthetic fluid put in it at $110.00. I told the gentleman behind the counter that was BS because they didn't run synthetic in them when they were originally manufactured. Stay Away from this business they ripoff old ladies. read more

Will not return to this location, the technicians were negligent and Rick (Service manager took no responsibility for their mistakes. We went in for a simple tire replacement and rotation (we thought that was simple) but in total we had to go back to the store 4 or 5 times, most of the time we had an appt but still waited for hours with a toddler and baby. The car was pulling badly to the right, my tire sensor is still messed up (fine before we went in), I was charged for a service that wasn't completed but told it was done, and the worst offense was being sent home with a tire that was incorrectly installed and could have come off while driving my two kids which seems like a huge safety concern to me. read more

I would give 0 stars if that were an option. Staff at Lecanto location rude and arrogant. I had the misfortune of getting a flat tire on my way home from work. Had the car towed to my home that night. Next day my husband takes the damaged tire to Mavis in Lecanto for a patch or new tire if necessary. we went there because they carried Goodyear tires. My husband said he would leave the tire and pick it up when the work was done, this would have given them 4 hours. Manager Justin REFUSED TO WORK ON THE TIRE. Told him the shop was too busy, said if he left the tire it wouldn't be finished until the next day. Told my husband to take the tire to Tire Kingdom in Crystal River. we ended up going to tire kingdom they were professional and accommodating however I had to buy an off brand tire as they did not have Goodyear tires. My 8-year-old Equnox tire pressure monitoring (TPMS) sensor failed on the passenger's right-hand side. Took it to repaired. took much more than the hour quoted by at least another hour when told that now only one sensor works the one they replaced. Well, the one that works is now the front passenger side! I ask them what we're the chances that they needed to be resented or program as maybe syncing the one working now reset the others? They claimed they had done that a couple of times without success. When I got home and invested google time and found the reset process built in the car, the three tires were functional again! But not the new one. I went back to the store only to be told that they had replaced the passenger side rear and not the front???? I was now frustrated as the alignment sensor markings were on the front tire only. A day after, no sensors worked. Back to the store and after heated discussion I was told to leave as I asked for a refund of the one sensor that wasn't working after they again tried to program the sensors again to no success. After another heated debate I left the store feeling completely ripped off. Never will I set foot in their business again. They just didn't care. read more
