I accidentally called this place instead of Firestone to check on my car. The manager was a complete butthole to me...

I went in to get a flat fixed on my truck. Though I had no appointment, they were able to take me into the shop where the work was promptly started. There was the usual array of service upsell pitches...some of which I agreed to. However, I declined others. Go in with some knowledge of the work you want done. All in all, I was able to get quality work in a few hours and at a fair price. read more

I came in ten minutes after they opened for a tire patch. To their credit, there were other customers, but two hours later, I walk around and see all other three wheels off and the one that needed service still on. After inquiry, it was revealed the last shop I took it to damaged the stud. After Gateway fixed their mistake, I returned the next day for the same patch. This time there are no customers and no cars in the bays. An hour and a half later, they call to say the tire is four years old, and their company doesn't let them patch four year old tires. It takes over another half hour to put the one tire back on and bring it around. WAL-MART handled all my needs in one hour. That includes the time the cashier was late by and checking it in. After check-in, my car was ready in a half hour. Never thought I'd say WAL-MART was better than anywhere else. Mavis wasted over four hours for nothing. Plus there seemed to be a chemically unbalanced employee who was saying strange things about my religion to me. Didn't seem sober read more

Mavis put the wrong size tire on my car and caused intermittent tire pressure warning indicator lights to flash. I did not know this and for weeks thought it was a valve sensor problem. My son is the primary driver so it took an awhile for me to get it to the dealership to diagnose the problem. Fortunately a service technician saw the wrong tire and replaced it with the correct size. The test drive indicated no issues. read more

BEWARE!!!! Took car in with slow leak front passenger tire. Employee looked at tire age and said federal mandate did not allow them to fix tires older than 3 years. Upon employee's advice to replace all tires, we decided to do this. While waiting at home, we looked up federal tire mandates and did not find one applicable to our situation. We asked the employee about it, and he said the information came from above his pay grade. Called the MS Attorney General's office and Mavis corporate headquarters. Apparently, no federal mandate exists for no repairs on tires older than 3 years. read more

Horrible horrible, I get a discount through my job and they pretended like they didn't work with them the first time so I left, second time I called customer service to prove 100% that all they do is lie. Ending up paying full price and coming back for a full refund because all they do is LIE. Went to them a third time and they rotated my tires knowing one was different and aligned to my wheel, in doing so knocked off my alignment and all of a sudden "Hey you need an alignment and other things it's 1700$" RIP OFF KNOCK OFF, workers have door knobs for heads. I can't say enough how much I appreciate Brandie and Kenny and the hardworking technicians. I had a slow leak and needed it fixed on a Saturday before leaving Sunday on a long road trip. Every tire shop in town was full and they were short handed but they worked me in took great care of me. This shop is poorly managed. The appointment service is useless. Had a 9 am appointment waited for three hours no service and was told that it would be another hour maybe! Asked about the appointment system and was told it's useless and never works. For my observation over two days it's poorly managed as the technicians are working hard and I witnessed several of them having coordination issues with management! Would not recommend them. What a cluster. Bought four new tires and explained that the spare was on the SUV in order to make sure and mount one tire on the flat in the back. Called and told it was ready so I went to pick up and noticed they put the new tire on the spare. Strike one. They also did an alignment and I noticed when driving I had to turn the wheel left to maintain a straight line. Strike 2. I then called and explained that what was done was not correct and wanted an appointment so I did not have to bring it in and sit for hours. Was assured they would accommodate. They did not call at the time promised to complete it so I had to call to ask the same thing. Strike 3. My wife took it in and after more than an hour of waiting she was told they had to fix their alignment machine. Strike 4. What should have been a quick job turned into a week long ordeal. if you're looking for a reason to waste your next paycheck for no apparent reason I cannot recommend this place enough. due to a squeaking sound coming from my brakes I regretfully came to Mavis tire and brakes where these monkeys quoted me $900 + 148 an hr for labor, for new brakes, brake pads and rotors. When I went to get a second opinion due to their ridiculous cost, I was informed that my brakes rotors and brake pads were in perfect condition, but the brake pads had a waxing coat that made a squeaking sound when I used my brakes. before I even stepped through the door , I could see them trying to hear any loose change hitting the ground. What was even better was I didn't feel pressured to have those services forfilled at that time. 12/31/2023 Mavis Tire Review(See rest of review in pics below-too long) This will be a long review as there were several issues that happened during our most recent (and likely last) visit to Mavis tire in Madison, MS. To preface the review, my wife and I have been customers of Mavis for several years and have never had any issues until now, but the way Mavis reacted and responded to the incident that occurred was disappointing, and I want to leave a review to warn and inform anyone else that may use Mavis in the future. On 11/26/2023(Sunday afternoon) I took my wife's van to Mavis to get an oil leak checked. On Monday (11/27/2023) I received a call from Manager Mavis stating he thought the issue was a valve cover gasket and stated Mavis could replace it. I gave Mavis the go ahead to do the work that Monday morning. Later Monday afternoon, Kenny called me back stating it was the valve cover and not the gasket. He also stated I needed new shocks and struts on the van. THIS was the first red flag, as we had the shocks and struts replaced, by this Mavis store, in February 2023 (9 months ago).I told manager this and he seemed surprised and said he would "investigate" this as he did not see this work on my account, as it was under my wife's account. Once he saw the work on my wife's account, he stated there was a miscommunication with his technician and that the struts and shocks were fine, but he did suggest I needed new tires. I gave Mavis the go ahead to replace all 4 tires and do an alignment since the tires had around 50K miles (in addition to the valve cover/gasket). Manager called me on Tuesday 11/28/23 saying they would be able to complete the work by Thursday 11/30/23 due to having to order the valve cover, and asked if I could go ahead any pay for the work in advance so his technician could work on the van on his day off and needed to close the ticket out. Since we have taken our cars here several times before and not had any issues, I agreed and paid the bill in full (approximately $1800). On Thursday 11/30/23 Mavis called and said my wife's van was ready to be picked up. My wife had a co-worker take her to pick up her van, and this is when the problems started. Once my wife picked up the keys and got into the van, she noticed several pieces of trash, shreds of seat cushion, and rat poop (as well as strong odor) all in the back of her van. After my wife noticed the damage done by rats while at the Mavis store, she went inside the Mavis store and alerted the employees to the damage to the inside of the van. The Mavis employees apologized and stated they would clean the van and repair the damage done, so my wife left the van with Mavis. On Friday 12/1/2023, Mavis called and said the van had been professionally cleaned and was ready to be picked up. Mavis stated they were continuing to work on finding an upholstery company to repair the rat damage to the seats and door panel. When I arrived to pick up the van that Friday afternoon (around 230 pm) I immediately noticed the tires had not been replaced, and there was still poop in some of the door compartments and under the seats (indicating the van was not properly cleaned). After I told the Mavis employees the tires had not been replaced and the alignment had obviously not been done (I paid for all of the work 3 days ago), the employee apologized and asked if I could bring the van in on MONDAY 12/4/23 to get the tires and alignment work done. Mavis is open until 6pm on Friday as well as Saturday and Sunday, so I asked why the work could not be done immediately since they were open several more hours. I was told by the Mavis employee they couldn't get to it that day because they were busy and short staffed. Again, I paid for the work 3 days prior and was surprised to hear that response, so I asked for Kenny, the manager, but was told he was in a meeting. I needed the van that Friday since we have 3 young children and had different obligations that night and Saturday morning, but I told the employees I would bring the van back Saturday morning (12/2/2023) to discuss the tires and lack of cleaning done to the van. On Saturday 12/2/2023 my wife and I brought the van back to Mavis and spoke with the Mavis store manager about the tire work and alignment not being done as well as the rat poop, awful odor, and other trash made from the rats that had not been cleaned. I was concerned that none of the work I had paid for under the hood had been done and maybe the work done in February for the struts and shocks had not been done, since he had said I needed them replaced again. The manager was very apologetic and assured my wife and I that Mavis would "make it right." Since this was not the first assurances Mavis had made, I asked him to explain what was specifically meant by "make it right." He stated Mavis would do the tire work and alignment (work that was already paid for) and properly clean the van and repair the damaged upholstery and door panel. read more

Suuuuuuper slow. Went in at 9:30 with an appointment and didn't get out until 12 for an OIL CHANGE.

Booked an appointment for 2 to have tires checked on a Saturday. Showed up 1:45 and was told they were running 2 1/2 hrs behind despite my reservation. Came back 2 hours later and still couldn't be seen before closing. Was told to come back next day, Sunday, when they opened. Came back then and still several people ahead of us. This is ridiculous!!! Why give appointments if you can't keep them! Why tell us to come at opening next day if they can't take us then either. They need to STOP TAKING RESERVATIONS and stop giving unrealistic return times. They were never able to get us seen for tire checks. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! read more

Too many times I've allowed this location to mess me over. I should give myself 1 star for allowing that to happen. The most recent incident occurred 8/1/2020 when I made a 10 AM appointment for an oil change, two new tires, and tire rotation. The front desk guy, I think his name was Brad, called another location to see if they had the tires in stock. I heard him confirm with the person he called that the tires were there and he'd send someone to get them. I left my keys with him and went home. I got a call about 3 PM that I missed. I called back less than 15 minutes later and he said that he'd been trying to reach me (as if he'd been calling me all day). He told me that my tires were not in stock after all. I asked him if the oil had been changed and he said, "no". He asked if I can leave my car overnight. I told him "no" and that I'd worry about the tires later. I arrived shortly after 4 PM and my car still wasn't done. He had the audacity to ask me if I could wait on it. I told him to give me my keys. He apologized multiple times. Apologies is the only thing this company does well. This is the second time (with an appointment) I've left my car there all day only to not have it serviced. I'm normally not a harsh guy, but having yet another Saturday ruined by being without my car all day on top of STILL needing to get my car serviced after everything has left me furious. *** UPDATE 8/11 *** I received a call from a different Brad (manager) and he was very apologetic for what happened. He asked me multiple times to come back and allow them an opportunity to make it up to me. I told them that I didn't have a desire to do it at this time, but I did truly appreciate him making a call back to me. If his employees start to reflect his attitude of getting things right then maybe this place will be okay after all. He also mentioned that he has a new manager at the Jackson location which hopefully helps that spot as well. I decided to increase my rating by 1 star since he was very contrite. A personal touch in customer service goes a long way, so I applaud him for that. read more

I went to your Springridge Road Clinton location today for an oil change and was disappointed again, My first time was back in May of 2023 when the attendant left my oil cap off and once again today. The first time i was there it took them a total of 8 hours to put a set of tires and line up the front end, not to mention the guy broke off 4 lug nuts trying to start them with the impact wrench instead of by hand. I've been going to Mavis for a few years probably since 2016. Nothing too much, just the regular, oil change, tire rotation, alignments, etc. But within the last three days, I've given them $1000+ for work that hasn't even fixed the problem with my car. I went in on Sunday, August 4th and talked with Caleb. Told him my car jerks while stopped/idle at a red light..when I drive it's fine. He specifically told me it may be my brakes/rotors. Paid them $707 for new rotors and brake pads. He told me that a few things were still under warranty so I'll only be paying for labor. My price was initially $1127 but of course he knocked it down some, which I greatly appreciated. Paid and left. Not even one mile from the shop, my car was still jerking while idle. Called the shop Monday, August 5th and told Matt I had been there the day prior and my car is still doing the same thing. Matt suggested I come in that day but I told him I could come in Tuesday morning when they first opened. Walked in told Kenny what was going on and I suggested an engine tune up (never had one since I've had the car‍) and he thought too that I may have needed an engine tune up. My initial price was $834 but he knocked it down to $674. Paid and left. Again, one mile down the road while stopped, my car began jerking really bad. Now, I'm no mechanic myself and know probably the bare minimum about cars but no way I've had to pay this company almost $1400 in three days and my car is still not fixed or at least diagnosed with a problem. I've been to three of their locations over the years (Jackson, Flowood, Madison) and it seems all the mechanics do not have the correct training or expertise to work on all brands of cars. Something needs to be done about this company or at least make sure the mechanics have more than one year experience! Also, the workers in the front needed to be looked into.. I sat near the desk listening to all the ridiculous pricing offered to each customer depending on their car problems. No customer was quoted anything under $900. From my understanding, this is not a dealership service shop, so they should not be charging dealership prices. You'll be better off going to Car Care Clinic. read more

Awesome experience!! On the day after Thanksgiving we had a blow-out on our trailer tire as we were traveling from North Mississippi to Texas and had to use our spare. We didn't want to drive further without a spare tire, so we stopped by this location. Dechelle and the technician took excellent care of us and got us back on the road quickly. They had the correct tire in stock and quickly installed it for us and had us back on the road in less than an hour. Everyone was friendly, helpful and professional. Brad. I'm guessing the manager...Is a liar. Second time they have not done a good job for me. Yes I know, stupid me for trusting them twice First was in the spring of 2018 when I spent over 1k on my car...the very next day I get it...it won't start and I have to get it towed from the Whole Foods parking lot Second time was today. I got my brake pads replaced from the tire engineers in flowood in 2016 that included the life time warranty. I took it in this morning and then Brad called me at lunch to tell me that I needed all four brake pads replaced...he told me that this would cost under $600 and then "he would work with me." I picked it up this afternoon and it was over $600...I called brad and he claimed he helped me with the back brake pads, even tho they were under warranty and were already free. ‍‍ I'm sick of this place. Got on the road and break lights came on. Brought back in. Said mail in tire. Bought a new tire. ABS came back on. now Saying need new ABS. On back order no idea. This place used to be great when Mike Upton owned it. Mavis sucks hard. Took them two weeks to fix my truck. At least they didn't charge me. But they had the nerve to tell me they didn't have a tech that could do the repair and referred me to another garage. It wasn't brain surgery it was replacing the drive shaft on a Tacoma. Got three quotes for ignition coil $175, $300, & $350. Decided to go with Mavis $350 since I was not familiar with the other facilities and plus I could get the work done on Saturday and not take off from work. My car had other plans and had become almost undrivable, but I was able to make it to Mavis. Quoted $1900 for the job and just the day before was told $350. Only because I had gotten the other quotes did I know this was high-way robbery. After questioning the quote, I was then told that this was to replace all the coils (mind you if I didn't have this prior knowledge, I would've ended up paying almost $2000 for a $200 job). The price then dropped to $668 and then to $498. I ended up paying only because I was in a bind. After many years of doing service here, I will no longer use them as I don't trust them anymore and I highly recommend getting additional quotes if possible if you choose to. Madison, MS read more

Our tire exploded on the interstate in the middle of an eight hour road trip. The folks at Mavis were very helpful and kind enough to take us in with less than an hour before closing. This location is horrible. I booked an appointment at 9am for the brake special that is advertised online. Front counter workers aren't knowledgeable of their own special. So, after showing them the special online I waited in the waiting area patiently. It's going on 11 am and my car is still in the same location I parked it.. . I got up went to the front counter. Wondering why it's 11 am and no one have touched my car for brakes. The lady asked if I had an appointment then I get pissed. After letting her know how unprofessional they are, she apologized and said I was next! No, thank you. Because of this, I thought having a scheduled appointment would be helpful. This review is strictly for the Madison branch because I have done business only with them. In April, 2018 I took my 2007 Dodge Dakota in for a scheduled oil change, and it was completed in a timely manner. When I approached the counter to pay the bill, the associate handed me a 2-page report of recommended repairs, totalling $1,004. He especially made a big deal about the brakes being in BAD shape, claiming the pads had dug grooves into the rotors. An alarm went off in my brain because the braking had shown NO signs of decreased performance. I took their printout, went to Advance Auto, and bought the parts for the brake repair, tuneup, and burned-out brake light bulb. That is when I realized they had marked up the brake parts by 100%!!! Furthermore, when I removed the current brake rotors and pads, the rotors were in VERY GOOD condition, and the pads had at least 30% thickness remaining. This shop is clearly churning unneeded repairs to increase their revenue. I had always enjoyed their close proximity to my house but will never use their services again. read more

They don't advertise prices for things like an oil change so I called up. They said $39.00 and throw in tire rotation for free plus a $10 off coupon. When I got there they tried to convince me I needed synthetic oil (price $79.99) but Honda does not say you need to. When I said the owners manual siad regular oil was fine I got the tsk tsk and look that I was an idiot. Then is came time to pay. $67! I asked how and the had a charge for the oil and a labor charge and shop towels, etc. When I questioned that the guy pointed to the oil and said that's the charge they quoted. It comes to closing time and they do not call text or notify my friend in anyway. This is the second occasion we have had with them. The first one was for an oil change where they made her wait three hours because they lost her keys. Then didn't even change the oil. This is specifically for the Madison location. I received services in the Strawberry Hill Madison, MS location. I never write reviews, and always give businesses the benefit of the doubt. But, I don't want anyone else scammed. I took my car in and they gave it an inspection, and found several items that needed to be repaired. Since I was going out of town, I agreed and was drastically overcharged for their services. Against my better judgement, I went back for an oil change a few weeks later. It was convenient and I had an appointment. They again did an inspection (that I did not ask for, and they wanted to charge me)....and found items needing repairs that they had supposedly fixed 2 months before. It took 6 hours, I was charged almost $100 for an oil change, and they forgot to put the filter back on my car. I was in my car driving off when they started yelling for me to come back. It's really sad when you are so upset with service until you don't remember anyone's name who works at the location. The people change like tires. I had work performed on my tires at the Madison location which took all evening and I had to pick my car up at closing. As I drove out the parking lot my wheels were making an unusual noise. So I called back to explain the sound but the location had closed for the day. I was about to drive to Camp Shelby for military training that evening but decided to drive another car. I arranged for a friend to drive it in to the Jackson location and as a result of the noise it was discovered the all the lugs on one tire could have been taken off by hand. I cannot say enough about how displeased I am with this establishment and the way the business is run. Upton Tires was my go too, AMAZING. Since it was purchased and became Tire Engineers, service is awful They cannot stick to appointments, they cannot and do not stand by their work. I have had to take my car back multiple times, after oil changes, tire rotations and belt replacements, only to be told by the manufacturer that it was done wrong causing damage and needing to be replaced again. When you talk to TE, they take no responsibility and have no record that they did the work less than 6 months ago.
