Rented a U-Haul to drive home-4hrs awaybut we made it! Called Sunday to order a tire and arrange for a tow service. I spoke with the most relieving,calm,kind,selfless women(The Store manager) (unfortunately I can not place her name at the moment) She got everything to a T done for me...Tire ordered Transferred me to the tow service Service appointment scheduled to coordinate with tow service Felt like all we had to do was wait until today(July 6 2026) to make the 4hr drive back down to retrieve our car...Which we did... To then get faced with Jeff(assistant manager) First,he lied to my face that my tire had not been delivered(which I had called at 10am to confirm) As well as he had spoke with my husband 30min prior to our arrival,to say he had the car,tire was ready to be placed on,and our price was what had been discussed on Sunday(with the store manager)...Great! Nope! After I called him out for lying about my tire in fact being there,he walked off,left me standing there...[[HIGHLIGHT]]thankfully the wonderful young service tech walked in to ask me if I needed help(I do now-Jeff left the building) after brief conversation,he took care of my car(showed and explained what had happened to our tire-in detail,gave me advice on my other 3)(extremely helpful gentleman)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]...Jeff finally comes back when the bill is ready,and smirks to say" I only said your tire wasn't here to protect it,Oops even from you"! ...Which was $163 higher than discussed with the actual store manager,and Jeff prior to our arrival...my husband and myself corrected him,his reply "well that what it is"...my husband tells him,Sir you are the one that called and confirmed the price and you also offer price matching! Jeff,goes on to say,"my mistake I had to move the "ticket" to your wife's name cause she ordered the tire...I said to Jeff"why would the price jump because it's in my name",what's the difference?" On my way to the doctor, my tires seemed off. I was happy to see a Mavis store close by. I stopped and asked they could look at my tires, maybe check the pressure. Dylan helped and was very thorough, checked the tire pressure, looked at my dashboard gauges and in addition , Dylan was very personable. No charge! Mavis in Walterboro is open on Sunday, so I scheduled my appointment for just after church. However, when I got in my truck to head to worship, the tire sensors indicated that the spare had lost about 10psi overnight! I headed straight to Mavis, where they took me right away, even though I was over an hour early! They had the exact tires I needed at a very reasonable price. They scammed me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Had an appointment today @8am for a brake check and tire rotation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When the mechanic walked me in the shop to show me my brakes and rotors, he pointed out that my rear brakes were worn down significantly (they were) and he also stated that my rear rotors were extremely worn down to a thickness of 10.1mm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I told them that I would just get the brake pads replaced but then they warned me that if the rotors aren't going to be replaced also, that the new brakes would wear down very fast.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So after hearing that, I agreed to getting the pads and rear rotors changed and that costed me over 600 dollars. They did not finish until 11:45am, so I was in there for almost 4 hours. When I got home and looked at the rotors and noticed they were the same thickness of my previous pair, I decided to do some research. The rear rotor thickness for my specific car model is supposed to be 10mm. So instead of getting just the new brake pads, I now have new rear rotors on my vehicle for no reason at all. Im out of over $600 and to make matters worse, I had to waste my time sitting in their shop all morning. read more

They then state that that was their policy. Employee went to get the manager waited 20 minutes on top of the hour and a half for service. He did not come out . Poor service and no customer service . Unpon my arrival to the store. I was treated with respect and the store was very nice for my first time being here. What disturb me during my visit was over hearing the store manager Alisha speaking with another person about talking yo a married man and also stated rgat the wide was mad about her talking to him. I felt that was very unprofessional and tackey for any employee especially in position to conduct herself as such. She was pretty proud in talking about this matter. That was very disturbing and very reckless to come to a place of business to hear such foolishness because I myself know how that feels. I've been in those shoes that the wife is currently feeling at this present time. I pray that Alisha come to her senses and realize that's very unprofessional to talk about during business time as well as her showing low-esteem and standards. That definitely was a turn off me and enough for me not to return to this business. If the wife ever see this know that I am praying for u and ur marriage. My niece and her boyfriend were driving home from college and got a flat tire it was around 7 pm at night so they had to wait til morning to get it towed to a shop. She received an email confirming a 8 am appt and they did not leave the place until around 115 pm. I called the place around 1130 am because they still had not started on their car and I was told they have 10 appts at 8 am and they are still trying to catch up. Having made that many appointments is great for their business however they only had one employee working. While they waited the police came and served the business to which the employee stated out loud now we are getting sued. My niece was told earlier in the morning that as soon as Tj got there things would speed up. When I called them it was because I was trying to be sure they could get on the road early so they were not doing to much night driving they were coming back to Ft Lauderdale and it was their first long road trip by themselves. I do not live in the area but I am writing this review because I do not believe you should make so many appts at the same time when you don't have the staff to break it up and also because somewhere on the confirmation confirming the time for your appointment it should tell you it is only an estimate of time. My brake line became unhitched while on the highway. I decided to spend the night in the Walterboro area. The next day, I took my vehicle to another shop that had the highest ratings and reviews in the area. They were booked solid for the day but recommended I take my vehicle to Mavis. THIS WAS A BIG MISTAKE! The customer service folks inside were terrible with no sense of proper process or efficiency in handling the customers. After waiting for 4 hours, the tech finally made the minor repair which I watched, took him about 15 minutes. My vehicle was turned back over to me and told by customer service that the brakes might be alittle mushy until they set properly. Mind you, they never took the vehicle out to test it. The brake system was never fixed properly as I discovered many miles down the highway that I barely had any control over my braking abilities. In essence, the folks at Mavis took in a vehicle that was came in an unsafe condition AND released it to the customer, ME, in the same unsafe condition. I would AVOID MAVIS at ALL COSTS! read more

We blew a tire on 95 on our camper, had a spare which we were able to get on but didn't have anymore spares. With the roads being so hot we wanted to get a back Up just incase. We called another place they told us 2 + hours. So We decided to call Mavis in Walterboro & they immediately got us in for a spare & helped us out tremendously. Hill Tire is the place to go for your tire installation. Veronica helped me choose a tire for my F250 right over the phone. When I arrived the next day Dave was quick to bring the truck in and changed all four tires in an hour and a half. You can't beat their prices either. I would recommend them 100%. Let me start off with a positive, the employees have always been polite and friendly. The building itself is large with a nice size waiting area. It's really helpful that they have a large waiting area because you'll be there a long time. The service is slow. But that's not the reason for the 1 star. Allow me to explain... I once stopped in for an oil change. After they had been working on my vehicle for a while, the manger came out and told me that I DROVE IN WITHOUT ANY OIL IN THE ENGINE, AND MY ENGINE IS NOW SEIZED. That's right they blamed ME, (There was plenty of oil in the car) they clearly emptied my oil and then started the car without putting new oil in it. I was forced to buy a NEW ENGINE, when all I came in for was an oil change. On another occasion (that's right, I'm that stupid to come back). I had an issue with a rear shock. One of the bolts that holds it on broke off and they couldn't get it out. They talked me into having them just weld the shock to the frame instead of removing the bolt because it would just be easier that way. I didn't even make it home before the weld failed and had to turn around (as my shock is dragging on the ground) so they can "fix" it again. If you insist on using Hill Tire, Proceed with Caution. read more

2/10/2024, traveling on 95 south, blow out on right front tire. took an hour to get a tow truck to put temporary spare on car. we find Mavis Tire. didn't start out well, told they couldn't get a tire on, too many appointments, then find out they didn't have the tire needed. we go around back of shop to get air in temporary spare so we can go 80 miles to Hilton Head, afraid we would not make it that far and could only travel 50 mph max. then it happened, our savior appeared, Dirice, said I'll help you and he did. one problem after another, he found an old tire that would work, Dirice worked his butt off to make it work. we were on our way after about 3 hours but he saved us, we would have been stuck in Walterboro for 2 days. Went in for an alignment. Came out with damaged cv shaft on driver side which was perfectly fine before it went in. The reason I know it was fine is because I had just had that wheel bearing replaced and my mechanic said everything was perfect when they were finished. After fully diagnosing my vehicle they told me that I needed to get the wrong thing replaced. $1000 later, the issue that I went in for was not fixed. I was driving from Florida to Kentucky with 3 children and our dog in the car. Early evening on Friday, I was on the nearby highway when my minivan lights all came on and the car began struggling. I checked Yelp for the nearest express oil change business, as I thought it was my battery (that light was on a minute before the others). The manager was so nice and told me if I could get there, they'd help me. We barely got there, as the car struggled that few miles. Miraculously, we arrived. Within minutes, they had checked and realized it was the alternator. They quickly ordered one for first thing in the morning and installed a new battery so I could safely drive to a nearby hotel and back. That worked and we got back there the next morning. They replaced the alternator immediately and we were on our way a couple hours later. Honestly, without the manager and a great technician named Bob, we would probably have been broken down and stuck all weekend. They really helped us out! We are very thankful.... read more

WoW... These people are so kind. I was on the high way headed to Orlando with 4 dogs and my 7 year old when my air condition crashed. 1pm, 10 mph and no water to drink :/ So I called and spoke to Don in the service center and he was just awesome!! One guy even came out to meet me and showed me in. They took my van right away. After knowing we didn't have to order parts (I couldn't have waited for I would have to drive in the heat) they opened up my van tore it apart, melted the frozen backed up water, added a part so that would never happen again, put it back together and only charged me the service fee :) and sent me on my way. I was passing through S.C. on my way to Virginia when I hit some debris causing a blowout. A local tow service recommended Hill tire. So did the state trooper on the scene. It was just minutes from i-95. The manager quickly gave me some pricing options when I explained how far I still had to travel. I made my selection and he immediately put my Volvo in the service bay. If I could leave half of a star I would. This was the worst service I've ever experienced. I needed a new tire. Had my 2 yr old with me. They quoted me 90 minutes and I'd be good to go. Waited 3 1/2 hours before they even took my car back. Took another hour just to put the new tire on. I still ended up paying through the nose for the fire as well. The gentleman I talked to said they had two left so I wanted both and would be in Saturday to get them put on. He said he would put my name on them so they wouldn't sell them. When I showed up they said he couldn't find the tires. So either they sold those tires to someone else or they have no clue what is in thier inventory!!!
