Now, I figured that was just some sort of stupid extra fee they tacked on to make it seem like I was getting more for my money. However, I didn't know that Diverge is actually open 24 hours and since they're not staffed the entire time the card key is actually quite integral to working out there-so it really is significant. The space is pretty small, but I'm so used to mega gyms that I think my sense of scale is off. However, they do have plenty of space for a little bit of everything. Cardio machines, racks, hammer strength machines, kettlebells, ropes, a little heavy bag and even bags, yes a bag filled with sand, it's one of those old/new trends that are becoming in vogue for fitness. The staff is super friendly, I've mostly interacted with Cindy who walked me through the place and is extremely friendly. J.P. is the other person I've spoken to the most and he's always amiable, and glad to see me here and inviting. I'm asked if I'm going to work out today whenever I walk in, even on my first day when I just came to sign up. Obviously, they really do care about being a place that cares for my fitness goals. Amenity wise I can not say enough, a cooler stacked with water bottles, towels of every different size for the weight floor, the sinks and showers. Shampoo, body wash, razors, cologne, even disposable toothbrushes with toothpaste in them. I literally have no reason to leave the gym if I forget anything. They have everything covered and I have no excuses.

My parents live in Columbus and I'm always on the search for a place to workout when I go visit…read morethem. I usually call around to various places looking to see if they offer drop-in rates. The problem I usually run into is that the locations don't offer anyone on-site on the weekends so I'm unable to pop in for a workout. Diverge offers a $15 drop-in rate. This is pretty steep for a one-time visit, but I thought I'd give it a try since they are close to my where my parents live. I had to hit a buzzer and wait for someone to come to the door and let me in. The guy working the front desk gave me a mini-orientation and showed me where everything was located. This place is pretty small, but they offer a large variety of equipment. They have very few cardio machines. I typically do group fitness classes so I tend to stick to the elliptical if I can't do my usual workouts. I headed over to the elliptical machines and started my workout. They have flat screens right in front of each machine if you like to watch tv. I more of a music person so I didn't watch the tv. I worked out for an hour on two different days and did not see another female either time. Good for me, I guess? All in all, this is a nice gym with really good equipment. I'm not sure what the monthly rates are, but I would think they are on the higher end based on the drop-in rate. They have a cooler with water bottles if you happen to leave yours at home.

I'm in my mid 70's and decided if I want to live much longer, I'd better get more active. I know of so many older people who fall and break their hip, then die, I assume due to congestive heart failure. Ive not taken good care of myself, particularly with diet, sleep, and now exercise. My husband had being going to CrossFit CSG for 2 years with amazing results. Although he also started taking krav maga at the same time, I don't think he would have lasted without the custom conditioning and training provided by the gym owner, Joanne Cogle. Ms. Cogle has helped my husband regain his strength, lose weight, and get strong. I started going to her a few months ago and whereas I was starting to walk stooped and in pain, she has improved my balance, mobility, posture, and outlook tremendously, and the benefits of each visit are noticeable. I do have some issues that are systemic, but she works around those and helps me feel stronger and younger every week. So much so, that I recently taking personal ju jitsu lessons as well. First off, I went there because my hotel, 1 block away had a terable out dated gym. At 5:30 am I crossed the street and dropped in on what was the beginning of a workout. Not only did they welcomed me but everyone one there a total of about 20-25 participant treated me as though I belonged there. What a work out it was. There equipment is top notch. The staff are all pros. Best of all, no ego. Keep it up CSG. I am a big city guy. I wish our local gyms were like yours. I'll be sure to stop by the next time I go out to Columbus. Thank you

The facility is clean & in good repair. I'm unable to give any info about the pool area, as it has been unusable/under construction the entire time we've lived here -- but it looks promising! If you like basketball, group exercise classes or are in need of a trainer, Smith will definitely be a good fit for you!! The trainers, front desk staff and employees are all helpful and friendly. The Yelp business info lists Smith Gym as "good for kids", but I'd have to disagree with that, as I don't believe they have on-site childcare. I have seen people bring their kid and sit them on the floor next to their bench/machine... don't be that person. Overall, Smith Gym is a really nice resource & they're constantly working to improve it. The only issues you'll have here are related to the poor gym etiquette of other patrons -- but then again, they have to post signs to remind people not to spit on the floor, so what can you really expect?

There are women's classes, and they have good attendance and female instructors. Training 7x a week, and open mats on Sunday. Multiple class times throughout. Gi and Nogi. The school was affiliated under Gracie Barra for many years but has since rebranded and became its own thing.

The class only had a small amount of people, so she was able to give a lot of individual attention to each student. She said she would give me some new tricks to take home, and she definitely did! I had so much fun, and I was so glad my mom was able to join me for one of my favorite hobbies.
