It's different from the others. Not that the other parks are bad, I love them, too! This park is pretty big, local and family friendly. It's big enough that if you or your family want some private, family time, there is a great spot. Multiple areas: to picnic/grill, room for big playing: room to train big dogs, hiking/walking/running/cycling paths, playing frisbee, football, basketball, frisbee/disc golf, playground. There is a lake (I'm not sure if you can fish or not. I would think so. But, double check to be sure.) Area for water play. (A bit of a warning) It has moving water, down the rocks.... The rocks are super slick. Mama tip: Needless to say, adults and kids can fall and get hurt. It's rocks/ big, slick, rocks! But, FUN! Lol I love taking my dogs to walk and play outdoors. On leash, of course. Restrooms throughout the park, and covered pavilions for big groups/family reunions/get togethers/church functions (egg hunts)... great park to enjoy being outside! Very good trails for walking and hiking. Can be accessed from multiple points. Safe. Plenty of activities for kids.

BEWARE: There are 2 stray dogs (pit Bull mixes) lurking on the hike/bike trail between Mile 7 and mile 8 near the bridge. One dog is a light brown and the other is mostly black with some white parts to it. They ran after my husband and I and we thought we were going to get mauled until we started yelling at them. There are children and elderly who often hangout there and someone needs to do something about it. Animal control does not answer their phone so I am posting it here. read more

This place is beautiful!!! My three girls (11,5,2) ALL had an amazing time in the water and at the playground area. The playground is really outdated but none of the children who were there cared. They were living their best life! read more

Flat Rock Park requires that dogs be leashed at all times. Flat Rock Park is not a dog park. Dog parks charge money and screen dogs for behavior and vaccinations before they allow them on their _private_ property. Flat Rock Park is public property and is subject to the local leash law. Some visitors have been lucky and have not had dog encounters when walking their own dog. Three days in a row--and this is getting to be a trend--my husband and dog had unpleasant encounters with other dogs that were running free. Please keep your dogs leashed. It is the law. read more

What a shame that the residents and others using this park have trashed it. And shame on the city for not maintaining this little gem! We traveled here while visiting relatives are were sad to see trash EVERYWHERE. Not just a few wrappers here and there but big chunks of broken glass, bottles, Styrofoam, cigarette butts, food wrappers and entire bags of garbage just tossed throughout. There was trash in the water, on the stairs, on the walkways, under the bridge and even INSIDE the slide of the playground. GROSS! The playground equipment was broken too, luckily my son wasn't injured when using it. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. (see photos) Aside from humans littering the place I can see this would be a gorgeous park. Although the water was just a trickle it was so scenic with rolling hills, open space, cute bridges, swings and playgrounds. There were historic looking brick fixtures too but hard to tell what exactly they used to be since there were no signs. We collected as much trash as we could carry with just our hands and threw it away, our small part in helping restore the park. Truly either the city needs to clean this place up or surely a community group could organize a trash pick up day. Seems like the perfect service project for Boy/Girl Scouts, or local school or civic organization. We hoped back in the car and drove around the back and saw less trash and MTB trails, folks running RC cars over the rocks and a pristine looking lake. So much potential, I hope the city or its residents puts some work back into this park and cleans it up. read more

Columbus is ridiculously boring in itself, but I would go back time and again if only to hike through Flat Rock Park. The place is a naturally beautiful eden, especially for a New Yorker like me whose exposure to nature is limited to the glories of man-made Central Park. I highly recommend stopping here for an hour or two, whether it's for a picnic/BBQ, a quick swim, or just to enjoy the sights. Perfect spot for photographers, especially if you like catching neat wildlife. Just keep an eye out for brown recluses. :p read more

We have only been in Columbus for about a month and I've been searching & searching for a place to take my dog to go swimming where there aren't any alligators & this place is PERFECT! It was only about a 25 min drive from Ft Benning & It's good ol southern muddy water but it's shallow enough around the lake that we can let our dog into play & cool off. It's not a dog park or a off leash area but we found a little spot along the lake with no one around where we could let our dog off to play fetch in the water. The leaves were changing on the trees & the scenery was beautiful and peaceful! There seemed to be a lot of people out enjoying a picnic and bike riding. Will be going back for frequent visits! read more

This park is gorgeous! We took or dog for a walk and she loved it! We let her off the leash for a while because there were no people around and she ran around, jumped into the water and was the happiest dog ever! It's very clean, no trash around the picnic areas and the trails are great. We even saw people with strollers and there's a playground as well as a large frisbee golf area. It's just so nice and calm there, however I can imagine that it gets crowded on the weekends. We came on a weekday in the morning and only met like 2 groups of people walking around. There were a couple of cars parked in various parking areas but we didn't see a lot of people. We will definitely come back with or dog, or to have a picnic. read more

Flat Rock Park is great for trail-running! There are miles of secluded trails where you can run for hours without encountering anyone else. Perfect if you want to enjoy nature or spend time alone with your thoughts. On my 1-hour run today, I saw several white-tailed deer and lots of squirrels. Even with the heavy rainstorm during the last day, the trails drained well and were in great condition (too wet for mountain biking though). There is also an 18-hole disc golf course and plenty of picnic tables. With all the fall foliage, Flat Rock is a beautiful park for enjoying a relaxing afternoon! read more

It's a nice park to get pokemon . We've been their a handful of times. Kids enjoy walking around. Last time we went their was a couple ha ing sex on the rocks by the waterfall area. So we just took the kids further down. It always seems to have alot of trash their around the park read more

The whole park is completely trashed. There are trash cans everywhere but people can't seem to find them for some reason. The picture I attached is the norm for the whole park. Trash everywhere makes it so you can't enjoy the scenery which would be beautiful otherwise. It's a shame. read more

The park itself is a little crusty. There is a lot of trash and ghetto people. Last time I went I was called a "crackhead" by some ghetto children. But, it is overall a good, free place to go hangout with your friends, walk your dog or have a picnic if you are into that sort of thing. read more

I loved this place. Been visiting it frequently since I was in highschool (2011, when I was a junior). The place is fantastic. Very relaxing; I'm the kind of person who likes enjoying the scenery. The only problem is the lack of maintenance? I suppose? Maintenance in the sense of being very wary of using the restroom, I would recommend taking care of any bathroom needs before going, because the bathroom are quite a mess. read more

Although very pretty the place is not clean. I used to bring my kids here but in one day we found two dirty diapers and a used condom.

This is a great place to take your kids or your pets for a nice family walk. There's also a bike path around the property for riders and plenty of trials in the woods for runners or the more "adventurous." The park is always clean and there are a lot of places where you can have BBQs. There's also a children's playground and frisbee golf. read more

Flat Rock has gone down hill horribly. Anyone rating it high has not been lately. This used to be my go to family park, cook out etc. The city of Columbus just keeps pouring money into downtown and letting the really nice parks go. read more

Best park I've been to so far since I've moved to Columbus. There are long walking trails and designated picnic areas (so you aren't bunched together with others). Absolutely beautiful here, my kids love it here, I love running here, and my dogs love to be walked here. Family friendly, however it should be cleaned up. Really wish people would take it upon themselves to cleanup behind themselves would make the park beyond exceptional. read more

This is a great size park with a lot to offer. You can hike, mountain bike, play frisbee golf or just stroll around the park. There are a few different bodies of water and it's nice to let the dog play in the mini rapids near the front. It offers a place to cookout and eat and some open areas to play games. It also connects to that huge walking path around Columbus. read more

My name is Aldo Rosado a retired Pro Bass Angler and people told me Flat Rock Lake was fished out so I investigated. It is not fished out it just has an over stock of Gizzard Shad and the Bass are gobbling them up and staying full and won't bite; However, if you use a Rattle Trap and fish it frequently you will get a shot at the title to pull in 10 lb. Bass+ from Flat Rock. It has Bass 12 lbs. in there, but they stay full. I have had Hog Bass in flat Rock snap my 17 lb. test line....trust me they are in there don't let it fool you. read more

A beautiful place to take your children or pets to for a walk or play time. In the summer my children love to play in the water for hours and I don't have to worry about it being too deep. The park is generally clean which is always a wonderful thing to see. There are places to have a picnic as well as grill out. read more

Great park, been going here with family and friends since I was a kid, however, it's missing one thing. Being an avid Disc Golf player, some friends and I would love for someone to build a course at Flat Rock. There is PLENTY of room for a very nice course. Right now, we're just limited to taking our baskets out there and pretending to make a temporary course. Such an open area deserves to have more involvement from the community and city. I know the sport isn't as popular here as it is other places, but bringing something new might just boost this parks popularity. I'm not sure where to go or who to go to to summit this idea, but it's the perfect place in Columbus for a nice 18 hole course. read more
