When I first started seeing Dr. Kumar, his practice was brand new. Back then, he was very "hands on" with the cleanings, dental procedures and answering the phones. I thoroughly enjoyed my experiences with him. Where I failed to see things (from his point of view) was the fact that his practice was growing. He needed and hired help. Me being young, impatient, selfish or entitled at the time, I grew frustrated that Dr. Kumar was not available for my cleanings. I was also disappointed that my "last minute request for an immediate appointment" couldn't happen. Simply put, I wasn't fair in the previous review that I wrote. Now that I'm older, I understand/ respect business and patient care... so let me be more clear and honest in my review.... Dr. Kumar is a patient person (pun intended). Dr. Kumar is good person. Very recently, I had a dental scare and had no one to talk to about my situation. Dr. Kumar made time outside of normal office hours to meet with me and help me through my problem. He answered all my questions. He wasn't even my dentist at this time! That speaks volumes to the person I've always known him to be... a person of integrity and love for people. He remembered all of my past health issues and our conversation was as if I was his patient yesterday. That speaks to who he is. I miss this. I regret leaving his office a few years ago (for what were unrealistic expectations on my part). Dr. Kumar is only one person but has a team of great people around him. Trust me when I say that your time with him is "your time" and it's special. I highly recommend his office to you and I plan to switch back.

There were way too many people up at the front like it was a party. They welcomed me with a fake "hello". Im in sports media I have to be able use my judge of character and read people. They didn't care to know what I was thinking or talk. They just cared to speak and that's it. When I was all done with the consultation Dr. Hardik T. Kapadia, DMD walked in and sat down with me with a folder of my information and told me "based on my feedback from my team. I can't help you" then walked me out. I got no explanation no conclusion or referrals. They are not there for you. Really enjoyed smile makers for the first year or so my son was a patient here. They even did very well through the Covid shut down. They managed patients at the new norm with what seemed to flow flawlessly. The last few months with them were less than ideal. The techs and ortho always had it together but their front office staff really seemed to struggle. My sons treatment went over the time estimated. Partly his doing but partly not. He had instruments (springs that cut his cheeks wide open, almost through the outside of the cheek) put into his mouth that did not work and they had to be removed and treated traditionally with rubber bands. It goes without saying that it took longer for this treatment with rubber bands partly his fault for not wearing them like he always should but it was also inevitable that it would take a little longer than the metal springs. We made it through freezes, snowmageden, etc. we even came to an appointment that was scheduled during a freeze because I wasn't sure if the office was closed or not and when I called and texted the automated line (that is "always monitored") I received no response, ever. When we arrived, the office was closed. When we returned to our next appointment, I was hounded for a $55 cancellation fee for my appointment. I guess when they don't inform you of closures and cancellations it's appropriate. An office lady argued with me that she sent messages out to patients but I did not get one. A fluke I suppose but none the less I wouldn't have driven on ice if I had the information that they were closed, common sense I think. Then when I told her I messaged them asking if they were closed I received no response. Well at that point since they didn't have my correspondence it was my fault but me not receiving their correspondence was impossible. Crazy how that works. Disclaimer, We did reschedule a few appointments assuming they wouldn't want him in office with me having Covid (4 times to be exact) and one appointment I for sure dropped the ball on. My fault. I'll take it. Towards his last appointment I was charged the $55 appointment cancellation fee due to too many appointment reschedules. In three years I think the total was five appointments rescheduled, I think. They implemented their cancellation policy towards the end saying the cancellations and reschedules of his appointments delayed his treatment and other patients also had a lot of cancellations so they had to do this across the board. Okay I'll give it to you even though I didn't agree with it. The last appointment we had was rescheduled by them, it's okay for them to reschedule I suppose. The day of his last appointment we had an appointment at 1030am and I received a call at 8-9 in the morning that I missed because he had a different appointment. I received another call stating I missed his 8am appointment and I would again be charged $55. I told the lady that she was wrong my appointment was at 1030 and we would be there for that appointment. She said his appointment was at 8 but they did have a 1030 appointment available if I'd like it. I again told her I would keep my original appointment and see them at 1030. A short time later I received a text message stating it was her mix up and his appointment was in fact at 1030 and when she rescheduled it, it was her mix up. Needless to say, I finally just had them remove his braces "before treatment was completed." My sons teeth were not even 1mm off from competition and since we were only worried about cosmetic issues, I didn't mind if it meant not dealing with their office staff anymore. Again the orthodontist and his technicians are great. Very friendly and good with the kids. The office staff could definitely use some training. The manager was my least favorite of the bunch. All in all not the most horrible experience I've ever had but the system is rather flawed and if you're looking for communication by office staff, this probably isn't the place for you.

While examining my son's mouth, she identified a tongue tie that had been missed by his dentist, pediatrician and speech therapist for 14 years. As a resident-trained orthodontist, her expertise in both traditional braces and Invisalign along with jaw growth modification is what gave her the knowledge to truly see the root cause of my son's issues. My daughter had fast braces done by her dentist, but it took three years and they still couldn't get one of her teeth to align properly. I should have brought her to an orthodontist like Dr. Sample. Speaking from someone who has done it both ways, I can confirm that orthodontics is very specialized and should be left to the orthodontists. Dr. Sample explained everything thoroughly and clearly, including why certain treatment options would work best for my son's specific needs.
