The care at Lake Highlands Dental was way beyond any I have experienced. I have been going there for a while however, our beloved dentist, Dr. Strippling, passed away. He hand picked a very educated and compassionate dentist and a periodontist to continue his practice. He would be very proud of Dr. Young and Dr. Ash. I saw Dr. Ash for a tooth extraction and bone graft. He and his assistant, Phil, were very thorough and explained everything Dr. Ash was doing. Dr. Ash was considerate and very compassionate. I have been going to Lake Highlands Dental for over 20 years. They use to be really good. Seemingly after Dr Stripling passed away the staff has gone downhill. I get a call from them the day before my scheduled appointment for a cleaning and they tell me that in order to keep cost down, I will have to pay a $50 co-pay! I have NEVER paid a co-pay for a dental cleaning. You get 2 free cleanings a year with my dental insurance. This rep tells me "well your insurance doesn't pay that much and we cannot continue to write off balances" Mind you I have had this same dental insurance for years and never had to pay for cleanings. I told her to cancel my appt. I made a dental appt with a dentist closer...same dental insurance and guess what??? It's free..I have been in the work industry for quite some time and I have never ever paid for general cleaning. I will not be going back to them read more

I've been coming here since I was about 6 years old and have never been anywhere else because the staff is so friendly and efficient. Even when my husband and I lived further away, I still made the 45 minute/hour drive to get my teeth worked on here because it was worth it. WARNING!!! CONFIRM THAT THEIR DOCTORS ARE IN NETWORK BEFORE UNDERGOING ANY KIND OF PROCEDURE!!! I originally picked Lake Highlands Dental after verifying that they are in the Delta Dental network. The first few times for teeth cleanings, exams and x-rays were covered by my insurance. I later learned that while the PRACTICE is "in-network" not all their dentists are. One of my old fillings collapsed and I needed a Crown set. I went back to LHD which required three visits. I also visited to have several surface cavities filled. All the prices quoted seemed high; the Crown itself cost me over $1,400 out of pocket. It was expensive but I thought that was due to my high deductible health plan. But after going through my documents and calling Delta Dental I realized that the dentist treating me is classified "Non Network." Instead of Delta Dental paying 80% of the claim I had instead paid 78% of the total cost. It cost me more than $1,000 extra because of the "out of network" fees for my procedures. If had seen a "in network" dentist I would have paid just $345. I always check the price I'll be responsible for paying before having any work done. Unfortunately, NOT ONCE was it ever mentioned that my dentist was out of network. If I had known, I would have asked for a different dentist or gone to a different practice altogether. Live and learn, I guess. In the meantime I'm planning a "dental tourism" trip to Matamoros, Mexico. My fiancee's family has been crossing over to see a dentist there for years and I'm going to schedule a visit with him for my next Crown. Even with the cost airfare the $450 they charge is much lower than paying thousands more than necessary. read more

I came in last week for my wisdom tooth removal and the experience was fantastic. I was brought into the operating room very quickly and was made very comfortable the entire time. All of the staff was very inviting and it was definitely the most comfortable dental visit I have had. I was in and out within an hour and 15 minutes for all 4 wisdom teeth! Wonderful experience and the healing is going very well with no issues. Dr. Ash and his assistant Majo were very helpful the entire visit and has answered all questions that I have had afterwards regarding the healing process! Definitely recommended! read more

I went in for very bad mouth pain. Turns out one of my wisdom teeth was broken with the nerve exposed. This make sense as to why it was the most painful thing ever! Staff was more than friendly. The doctor told me just schedule a surgery with their surgeon for two days later. I asked if there was literally anything they can do as I was in MUCH pain. She told me to just take Motrin "as she cannot prescribe medicine until after the surgery). So after two painful horrible days i get the surgery. Doctor was great. Took about an hour and a half for 2 wisdom teeth. As I was leaving I received no pain medication! All in all staff is very friendly, surgeon is great. But if you're in pain and need relief now. This is not the place for you. I am still hurting with the medicine they gave and when I called to talk to the doctor it went nowhere. read more

Do not trust Dr. Young's administrative staff at Lake Highlands Dental. I had just recently switched over to Dr. Young's dentist office based on reviews I was seeing. I was very clear in talking to them that in switching over to them that there would be no financial surprises and they agreed. They knew exactly who my Insurer was (UHC) and they knew what their payout schedules were. Just recently on July 28th, i had scheduled to get 2 bottom teeth fixed. Lake Highland Dental told me that the total cost would be $540. They further informed me that my share of the cost would be $270 and my UHC insurance would pay the other $270. They were very clear that the extent of my liability would be $270 (which I paid the day of the service). I have now received a bill from their office asking for an additional $128. I called Dr. Young's Office manager today, Ana, and asked if there had been a mistake given they were very clear that the extent of my financial responsibility would be $270 for the repair on lower teeth. Ana told me the following: 1) The $270 Lake Highland Dental originally told me the insurance was going to pay was based on what United Healthcare had quoted them. 2) Ana, further stated that unfortunately, when they submitted paperwork after Dr. Young had done the teeth repair work, that the Insurance company had gone back on their original quote and gave them less. Ana, told me that since the insurance company had not lived up to their original quote, that I would have to pay the difference, $128. After getting off the phone, with Ana, I promptly call UHC. I came to find out that Lake Highland Dental had never at any point contacted UHC (not by email, phone or fax). Bottom line, Ana, the office manager for Lake Highland Dental lied to me and the original story they told me was totally bogus. Originally these guys told me I was paying 50% and UHC was paying 50%. As it turns out UHC always pays out at 100% (no deductable). Lake Highland simply charges more than UHC's documented payouts (based on service code). To reiterate, do not trust these guys. They will deliberately make up a story on finances just to get your business and then come after you for additional monies after breaking their promise. They are also making fraudulent claims about having gotten pre-confimation on what insurance would cover. Lake Highland Dental cannot be trusted! read more

I took my son John here when he signed to me he had a sore jaw. ( I have been to Lake Highlands Dental before, but moved out of the area.) I returned because I remembered and trusted them. Turns out John needed major oral surgery. The Assistants and Dr. O'brien were helpful and told me John had to return for that surgery, and promptly gave John meds for his pain and antibiotics. The Dr. who performed the surgery and anesthesiology was very nice, gentle, and gave John a little stress ball that looked like an animated Dr, that he fell in love with and kept. And his 3 Assistants, especially Amy and Beverly..they were very helpful in assisting John to keep him comfortable--though he was deaf they were able to bond with him, and he liked them. I felt very good about it all. Professional and upbeat staff. I recommend this Dentist for sure. His recovery is coming along fine. read more
