I'm a 34 year old mom just getting back into taking care of myself again. My first meeting with Dr. Tiner was totally normal and we had a plan in place for a tooth extraction. It's my front tooth and I'm extremely nervous about it. I've had root canals and interior bleaching that felt like pain from hell from years ago so I have been very anxious. I went in for my tooth extraction this morning. I noticed I received a text from Dr. Tiner's office yesterday saying they had prescribed me amoxicillin. That was the only drug listed. I knew the amoxicillin was going to be for after my procedure so I had arranged for my ride to take me by CVS and pick it up on the way home after the procedure. When we showed up today, they asked me where my oral sedation was. The office never explained to me that I was going to have an oral sedation prescription that I needed to have filled and brought with me to the office. Nurses looked in the back and saw that they had some left over from previous patients and they would be able to give it to me so it was not a big deal. At this point, I'm already losing trust in the office. I should've been aware that the oral sedation I was going to have was going to need to be picked up by me beforehand and that was never communicated. I go to the back and have a quick x-ray and another nurse tells Dr. Tiner that I don't have my oral sedation but someone said we had some. Dr. Tiner confirmed. He walked into our area and set the oral sedation on the counter, looked sideways at me, and in a very condescending tone said "I don't usually have these." he then explained how I needed to have brought my own sedation. I told him nobody told me I was going to need to bring my own sedation, I would have filled the prescription before my appointment had I known it was that important and then he still managed to respond in a condescending tone. I told him I was going to be leaving and then I got the spiel about how much he wants to help people. I go out to the front lobby, crying, and another nurse says, please don't worry we have plenty of oral sedation in the back. Dr. Tiner seems to enjoy talking down to women when they are very anxious and scared. He should be ashamed of his behavior this morning. read more

If I could give less than one star, I would. This part of the review is specifically for Tina: Hi Tina. You don't know me but I know you. My mother in law came in today for a visit to get some work done, continuing on per previous work. You were so rude to her. Your snide remarks and snarky attitude were not needed or called for. The comments you made to her were so incredibly out of line, I can't believe you're allowed to interact with patients. Is this how you speak to your own mother or how you would like to be treated when you're PAYING for a service?! I truly hope you receive some training on how to act and how to treat patients. As for the rest of the practice, the least you could've done was honored the discount my mother-in-law has been receiving for her care. Affordable dental work at your practice is impossible so the discount was the way she was able to keep going to get her work done. You should really work on your patient interactions, bedside manner, and ethics. If you're looking for a great dental practice, keep looking. Besides the rude comments and snarky vibes, there's too much drama at this office between the dentist and at least one other member of his staff. read more

Please be alert about this dental clinic on Renner Rd, Richardson. They are very sneaky and dishonest! They did not tell me I had to pay for the third X-ray expense since the first two X-rays were already covered by the insurance in the other dental clinic. I have learned that they were able to check with the insurance company on their website by entering my insurance information, but they decided to CHEAT unfortunately. No one was explaining to me before having my teeth X-rayed. When I received a bill ($250) from them, I talked to the clinic Manager to explain. He insisted that I had to pay for it in a full amount! Afterwards, I called the other dentist of mine and the insurance company. They all told me the clinic was able to know if it was covered by the insurance or not and should have asked me if I was willing to pay. Again, unfortunately they decided to hide it! The end of the story was I asked to talk to the owner and they finally admitted their mistakes. (What was even ridiculous was they asked me if I'd like to make the next appointment!) Conclusion, when I shared my experience with friends, some of them have had similar experience with other dental clinics. Therefore, I decided to disclosure my experience with Dentistry by Design with you all to avoid these bad business people! Due to the strong competitions in this industry, they could set you up in different ways. (The dental insurance companies play dishonest games as well. Please ask as many questions as possible before you purchase it. They would tell you their representative did not provide accurate information to you.) My suggestion is to ask them to write down the information they tell you and also ask for a second opinion especially for the expensive services BEFORE doing any treatments. Always confirm with dental clinic the following questions. Q: Is there any additional cost I need to pay? Will I receive another bill? Q: Have you check with my insurance company? What did they confirm? Q: Other questions related to procedures and cost! Honest is the best policy! You treat people the way you want to be treated! I've been going to this practice for quite a few years and initially was quite impressed. The office staff has changed in the last year and I had some concerns and went to Dr. Tiner about it and wasn't thrilled with the conversation we had but I felt like it was important that I share my experience with him rather than leaving a review online. We encountered Issues with billing and being confused with other patients accounts and being overcharged , being scheduled before 6 months for cleanings, not being told we would have a different technician, etc. -were the experiences we've had in the last year or so. To my surprise? My dentist, Dr B has left the practice and I found that out yesterday when I came from my cleaning. Some of the staff clean my teeth really well but some people really hurt me. The last cleaning I had by Lisa 6 mths ago was great but then this cleaning yesterday hurt really really bad. I think the jet was too high and she knew I was jerking back and she knew I was hurting because she kept apologizing, but at no time did she turn down the pressure of That laser water jet. The pain to me felt like I was getting tiny electric shocks in my gum. The pressure was so high that I had water all over my face, and I kept having to wipe my face 4-5 times. she did allow me to pause and stop so that I could kind of gain my composure but I Had such a painful cleaning experience. Some of the staff are so friendly and kind. The office is very clean and they all wear matching shirts, but I have to be honest and say they're always trying to Sell something new and I honestly feel like their intention is more about profit than caring for the patient. That is just my experience and I think there's a lot of good things about this practice but unfortunately the Cleaning yesterday hurt so bad I really don't want to return and undergo that same pain again. I don't leave this review lightly But I think, after the years we have gone to this practice, my husband and I are disappointed. We've spent quite a lot of money here doing the things they've suggested, but We both feel that we need to look elsewhere. I will miss Dr.B. read more

Dr. Tiner has been by go-to Dentist for several years. Had a molar that went from filling, to crown, to second crown and third crown over 40 or so years, to now not having enough tooth above the gums to hold a new crown, so implant time. Went in yesterday to have the tooth extracted and bone grafts done as stage one. As usual, no waiting - you show up for your appointment time, and in five minutes you are in the chair. First thing, they drew blood to centrifuge out your own plasma to put in with the bone graft to speed healing. Then numbing - not with any huge hypodermic coming at you, but a Wand that is a computer-assisted anesthesia system that controls the flow rate and pressure of anesthesia delivery for virtually pain-free injections! My molar had some really deep roots, and did not want to come out. Dr. Tiner had to really work to get it out, taking it out in pieces. Once out, grafting finished, stitched up, the magic wand again with some steroid for pain management, and done. I was sure, with the fight Dr. Tiner had to get the tooth out, once the numbing wore off, my jaw was going to feel like I went a couple of rounds with Mike Tyson (or maybe Jake Paul). Was still a little numb at the end of the day. Next day, nothing! No pain at all, not even a slight ache. Dr Tiner is the pain-free master of Dentists! In my opinion, one of the best Dentists in DFW. read more

Note that I dislike giving 5 star ratings, and I do it rarely, so please judge my review based on the fact that I'm being 100% honest when I say D by D deserves every star. I waited for the entire process to commence from start to finish (an implant and graft) to publish my review. The staff is awesome, knowledgeable and I'm always happy to see their smiling faces when I come into the office. I've made several trips in the last few months, and finally received my dental implant today. Everything is done in house, which to me, cinches my choice to remain with this office. From grafts, to printing custom crowns, to having the latest x-ray equipment, you cannot find a more advanced dental office in the north Dallas area. (well, maybe you can, but not with an awesome doctor like Dr. Brad Tiner). He put me at ease, was happy to explain a process I'm sure he's explained a million times before and I never once questioned the skills of this man even though in the past I have been very dentist-phobic. My last dentist was ill equipped to handle my fears, and D by D, did just that. If you're a dentist-phobic person like I am, and you've had horrible experiences, know that this is one place you can count on to help you. Stay awesome, Dr. Tiner and staff. read more

I have been coming to Dentistry by Design for about a year and half. Whenever I come in, my dental hygienist always remembers me, even though it has been 6months. I have taken their suggestions seriously and have noticed a huge improvement in my teeth. My hygienist suggested getting a Philips Sonicare Electric Toothbrush. After using it for a week, I am already hooked. Plus, if you purchase from them, they are able to give you a slightly better deal than buying online or from a retailer. On my first visit, I unfortunately had my first cavity. Dr. Tiner was really friendly and talked me through the filling. I really love the staff and results that I have been getting. He and literally every other person here are by far the most amazing people I have ever dealt with in this field. Yesterday was my first experience with Dentistry by Design. I could not have hoped for a better experience. I called the day before to try to get an appointment as quickly as possible for cleaning my teeth. They were able to schedule me for the following morning.
