Max Plumbing Services are expensive. My problem was a guest bathroom sink with a slow drain. (Not clogged) This was not an urgent situation. I set an appointment up with Max Plumbing for a free estimate regarding my slow sink drain. The technician came and quoted $199 to snake out the slow sink drain. The $199 price was at the top end of my acceptable range, so I agreed to the service. The technician snaked out my slow drain with a smaller snake apparatus. The plumbing pipes in that bathroom are only about 15 feet long, till they hit a 4 inch sewer pipe in my condominium building. After the technician snaked out my drain, the issue was not resolved. Then the technician said he had to bring in a bigger snake device and it will be $299 for the service. At this point I'm stuck. My drain is not fixed and the plumber had me hooked for $199 for failure to clear a slow sink drain. The final $299 charge for a slow sink drain is much higher than other plumbers would charge me for the same service.. In the future I will not be calling Max Plumbing for services as they are an Expensive choice among other competitive plumbers. read more

I contracted with Hone Depot for two toilet replacements in my home. I paid upfront for installation ($142 per toilet). when they arrived , I was informed the old toilets had the wrong pull stop out of the was and it would be another $145 per toilet to get the work done. In short , they wanted almost $300 to install a $200 toilet. completely unreasonable. I did not pay extra and the work was not done. I watched a YouTube video on how to replace the valve and it's a ten minute job if you're not a plumber. read more

39 years old and I've never complained publicly about a company. Water was leaking from a pipe connected to the hot water heater. Max Plumbing diagnoses problem and replaces T&P Valve. Leak stops. I pay $270. A few hours later leak reappears. I'm not sure if that's normal. A few days pass and the leak gets worse. I call Max Plumbing and I'm told if someone comes out to look at it, it will cost more money. I don't like where this is going. I call Nothing But Water Heaters. They come out and replace the T&P Valve that Max Plumbing had just installed. Same work performed. Leaks stops. I pay $130. Leak does not reappear. I call to complain about Max Plumbing's substandard work. Multiple times over the course of a few weeks. They tell me repeatedly that someone will be calling me. They don't. I finally get someone to talk to me. They insist the valve that Nothing but Water Heaters replaced is not the valve they installed. I watched the valve get replaced and have it in my possession. They call me a liar. They call Nothing But Water Heaters a liar. I will be getting nothing from Max Plumbing. $270 down the drain. Hopefully this is not a common occurrence with them. All I can do is share the experience that I had, and it was not a good one. UPDATE: see owner's response below. I knew I would not want to read it immediately after getting an e-mail from Yelp that it was posted. Calling me a scammer. Despicable, disgraceful conduct. I've already spent well more than $270 worth of my time on this. I just want the company to do the right thing given they did not perform the repairs that I paid for. This 5 star rating is solely for Sameul Gomez from Max Plumbing! What a stand up man. He checked out the problem I thought I had, turns out the last plumbers (different company) forgot to open the water valve leading to the refrigerator. Instead of pretending it was a big job, he opened it up and told me the company was glad to help. Unheard of ?! Thank you so much Sameul!! If anyone is thinking of hiring the company, don't think twice on asking for him to stop by. You know you'll get an honest man. Now my first job with them cost me an extra $589! Backstory: I bought a toilet from Home Depot and this company works with them for the installations. The first tech that showed up at my door was Danny, very nice personable man. We paid at Home Depot for the full install but when he removed the toilet it turned out the single angle stop (which switches water on and off ) was broken, as well as the flange where the toilet sits and is bolted. He told me he wasn't allowed to work on it unless we removed the tile that was covering part of the top and was making it hard to install a new piece . My husband wanted to sign a waiver if necessary just to get the job done ASAP. Danny went to Home Depot and purchased a two piece flange repair kit, bolted it down and finished the job the same day. Having to wait until my full time working husband had time to work on it at night while the kids sleep was just not a good option and we were willing to break a couple tiles just to avoid making it worse ourselves or having an open hole sitting there waiting for a toilet bowl, thankfully that didn't happen. ‍ While he was here I asked him to replace a second single angle stop in my kids bathroom. So 3 parts later and I had a new bill outside of our toilet and install purchase of $589. They tell you prices as you go so it's not a big surprise bill at the end. But when it comes to Plumbing who wants to wait around and play "chicken " with upstairs water ?? My advice ?! Educate yourself on what parts you may need if possible. Had I taken the time to see what is required for a toilet install , I would have purchased the flange and angle stop before he arrived for a total of less than $50 for parts & just have them ready for him to replace the whole toilet system. Maybe a little more for labor ? But avoid the big cost altogether. I did purchase the kit that goes in the actual tank but the toilet we bought already had it so we just returned the package. **The fact the second tech showed up and was so honest , made up for the extra I paid with the first. We purchased a toilet and installation from Home Depot, and Max Plumbing was their contracted vendor. When the technician came out to install the toilet, without even bringing the new toilet into the house, he told us that we purchased an incorrect size (that it needed a 10 inch rough-in, not the 12 inch we had purchased) and charged us $60 to return the toilet to Home Depot. We later learned that not only was he incorrect, Max Plumbing stood staunchly behind their employee without even coming out to verify. This cost us time, money, a lot of aggravation, and it almost cost us the ability to replace our broken toilet without incurring a major renovation project. During call was informed that I would need a flooring company to remove old toilet because HD would be upset if tile was broken. Problem HD installed our floor and didnt provide this service. I felt I had a small leak in the bathroom and I assumed it was the wax ring but since I didn't like my current toilet I decided to replace it. Home Depot offers installation when you purchase a toilet from them ...so I did. Max Plumbing was the contractor for the installation and I couldn't be more happy with the service. Just tried to call them after I was told that they bought out Windy City HVAC. None of the phone #s are operational - maybe they are out of business or went chapter 11. And I paid for a subscription for 2xs per year with Windy City which I was told Max would honor.....so now I'm out ~$90 for last Winter's service call.
