This is not a place that will rip you off but will give you honest estimates and repairs and nothing more. They don't recommend anything additional that doesn't need to be done. A few months ago I went to Maxi's for a belt change on my Chevy Cobalt. I made an appointment, took my car in first thing that morning. I was out of there in the promised time, which doesn't always happen in auto shops and was awesome! They also charged me a lot less than I was expecting! I'll be a return customer! I also came to Maxi's because a friend of mine recommended them highly. He's been going there for years! Then in July I returned to get my A/C recharged as it wasn't cooling my car efficiently. I brought in a 2018 Ram Promaster because the low oil pressure warning came on. I had it towed to Maxi. They did a work up on the vehicle. Their conclusion was that it needed head gaskets. I never had any of the symptoms of bad head gaskets, ( white exhaust, milky oil, loss of power, etc) The work up that they sent me consisted of things not associated with engine problems, like cracked windshield, dings on the hood, etc. They stated "oil on the upper part of the engine". ("Was oil changed recently?") I told them that I recently changed the oil myself. Of all of the superfluous things listed, they did NOT list the problem, which was a bad oil cooler. So, of course, there would be oil on the upper engine. Never paid a diagnostic fee before ($283.00), only to not have the issue diagnosed. I can turn a wrench, but I'm no professional mechanic, not like the guys at Maxi. I paid the fee, put oil in it, drove it home, looked up reasons that oil will leak on Promasters, watched a YouTube video on oil cooler replacements on 2018 Ram Promasters, went out and bought a Dorman oil cooler, (the expensive metal one, not the cheap OEM plastic original), and was done 5 hours later. Out of curiosity, I followed up on the head gasket repair with them, never got a call back in the 3 months since I brought it in with the oil leak issue. I always had to call them, only to get told that they will call me right back. I called again 2 days ago, was told by Ron "That I would get a call back later that day. Cause he new. And he wasn't there when I brought my vehicle in the first time. And they do things differently now". Cause Ron there now. Alas, no call back. New Ron, same old ways. Called today and was told that they want to put a new engine in the van instead. I have absolutely no trust in them now. Maxi, do y'all have a negative star section? High milage Synthetic oil replAced without fail at 10k miles since it was bought with 34k miles. Of course the oil level would be low if the oil cooler blew, causing oil to leak. To insinuAte a vehicleS engine iS not well maintained basEd on the outward appearance is bad business. The Dings and cracked windshield are the results of I-10's loose asphalt. Clean interior, no rust, clean Body, shiny paint job, no vibrations, no damage except for the dings on the hood and windshield. What's poorly maintained is your employees ability to follow Up on calls and not diagnosing a blown oil cooler. Money for your employees time spent is not the issue. Money spent for diagnostics, and not diagnosing a oil leak on the upper engine is a problem. Especially since, in your own words, Jason C., is that you all are very familiar with 3.6L Ram Promaster engines. So, how was the time spent? Not diagnosing a blown oiL cooler. Bring all issues to the forefront, like y'all did with the windshield and hood dings and tires and rear brakes and etc. Tires and rear pads, You say? I didn't bring it in for those. Discount tire handles my tires, Mineke for brakes. Kinda far away from under the hood there, weren't you? One thing to note is whenever a customer leaves a bad review based on their experiences, and there are a few, is that the go to defense is to lay the customers vehicle condition bare. One bad review is one thing, a few is NOT coincidence. Still no issues suggesting cracked head gaskets or cylinder heads. Van has run so quietly, from 7 feet away, you wouldn't think that it was on. Not how a "poorly maintained engine" would sound, does it. YouTube videos and a laissez faire attitude may take your customers away. They took me away. Good Luck. Facetiously, AfghanStan. Brought my car in because I thought diesel got into my tank. Thought it would be around 2-500 based on internet pricing of the repair for that. Comes to be they only had to siphon the gas out and there was none. Well I got a bill for $360 and the explanation is 2 hrs of work and $20 of gas. I'm sorry but where in the world do you charge $120/HR? And to just siphon gas??? And $20 was not in my tank, it takes $30 to fill and it's not even halfway full. Will bring all of our future auto needs to Maxi Auto Repair given this one fantastic experience and assistance provide by Adam and team at Maxi. I was out of town for work and my 20yo daughter calls in a bit of a panic as her side (not main cover) under carriage cover on her Hyundai Veloster came loose and was dragging the ground. While the vehicle is a 2020, this would not be considered something covered by warranty (even though IMO it should not have come off as normal wear and seems like a fault with design). Dealer was going to take several days to look at it and quoted range of $400-$700 for repair. The OEM part is $132 and can get after market for around $50. Spoke with Adam who knew exactly what I was referring to and was able to get my daughter in later the same day after she was done with her classes. He was not expecting to find much and noted it would likely be a very quick fix to reattach. She got her vehicle over there and within 5 minutes the issue was resolved. I usually take my cars to another repair shop, but for my Carmax extended warranty, they said I had to use a third party shop..Maxi Auto Care. I was real skeptical because I've read many horror stories reviews of other third party shops adding on un-needed repairs. I was very impressed with the professionalism of Kevin and the rest of Maxi Auto Care crew. They run their place like a Brand name car dealership shop. Kevin ran diags on my car and sent me a very detailed email explaining what was wrong and extra items to be aware of ( pictures included ). I thanked him for the heads up on my tires and serpetine belt, but just went with the repair. My total was only my $50 deductible. Maxi has serviced my family's cars for several years and we kept going back because of the fair prices and reliable service.

After moving here from Wisconsin, my car developed a rattle. I checked the BBB site for a mechanic and chose this place. They fixed it for under $30. My car has had a brake shudder for several years. I have had front brakes completely redone in Wisconsin. Still have the shudder. So, I mentioned this to the service associate/manager. She told me it may be the back brakes because they inspected the front and rear and the pads and rotors on the front "looked good". I had an appointment for rear brakes to clean, machine the drum. I mentioned to Carmen again that it's a shudder. She said "the rear brakes need to be cleaned every 6 months" and since I have never had that done to try that and if the shudder remains they would check front brakes. I paid $127 for the back, the mechanic test drove it and said "it's improved but not completely without shudder". So I was told that either I could "live with the shudder or bring it back for front brakes", after spending 2 hours there! I don't get time off during the week, I took a half day off work already hoping the problem would be fixed. I called and spoke with the other service associate and he couldn't help me either! I told them when I got there that day for the appointment that it wasn't the back brakes but they refused to listen. Also I can barely pull up the parking brake because they made it too tight!!!! To follow up on my negative experience (and review) of Tuffy Tire & Auto, my son ended up taking his car to this repair shop to have the backup light switch replaced. His reverse lights kept coming on overnight, killing his battery. Tuffy did not listen, ignored the diagnostic results provided by AAA, and scammed my son out of $450 for a new (unneeded) alternator. Maxi Muffler & Brake listened, provided excellent service, and quickly replaced the switch. His car is now fixed for a total of $75. The mechanic seemed knowledgeable and honest, the wait was short, the place was clean, and the price was fair. Everything about this experience was positive, even going into it highly frustrated. My car broke down on Friday, 5/6/22, having just done $5,500 repairs on 3/23/22, only drove less than 60 miles before the, 5/6/22, brake down. Picked up my car again on Monday, 5/9/22, after paying another $431 for a new battery and new belt that they said looked worn. Why wasn't the serpentine replaced the week you had it in March? I felt you where just looking for things to pad my bill with if it wasn't necessary/noticed in March after I asked you to check my belts. You said they were fine a month later and around 50 miles later my car needed a new serpentine belt. Today, Tuesday, 5/10/22, I drove my car to my local Winn Dixie about 4.5 miles. When I returned to my car about an hour later, it wouldn't start. Had it towed it my home after the roadside assistance couldn't get my car to turnover even after trying to jump it. Atleast before you changed my battery on Monday it would start with a jump. Hoping tomorrow when I return my car to Maxi they can finally fix it and I can feel safe driving it again without fear of being stranded again. Thank god I have roadside assistance. read more

I was going to go to that national muffler chain, but after a few mediocre reviews on Yelp I saw Maxi Muffler had many stars. I'm glad I came here. I was brought out to the service bay where the repairman told me what the real problem was....a rotten resonator. As a previous owner of a '96 Honda until 2012, I visited Maxi several times - sometimes driving myself and sometimes with my car being dropped off on a tow truck. Either way, John was ALWAYS accommodating! I have never been somewhere so honest and helpful. Knowing I was on a tight budget as a student, not only would John break down the issues with my car and tell me whether they needed urgent action, he would also take the time to explain the issues to me. The time he spent doing this has made me return time and time again. Every time I told my stepdad back home the issue with my car and the price I was quoted from Maxi, he would always say I was getting a great deal without a doubt. The only reason I give a 4 is because I wish they had weekend hours, but at the same time it says a lot that they can stay closed on the weekends and still be doing great! read more

I went to Maxie for some maintenance work. I was told there was excess "play" in my steering which at the time was nearly imperceptible. They were going to charge me $1200 to replace my rack and pinion saying the car was unsafe to drive. My fiancé said not to do that then but we would follow up as he had researched the part and it could be bought for $150 on eBay which already was proving to be a greater than 200% markup because they wanted to charge $500 just for the part! So fast forward to today...fiancé bought remanufactured R&P, I took it to a different shop for the repair, and was told IT WASN'T MY RACK AND PINION at all!!! It was a stupid $2.35 coupling in the steering column!!!! The actual repair only cost me $300. Do NOT take your cars to Maxie Auto Care. They are CROOKED. read more

Absolutely excellent, honest service and fair prices. I am new to the area and did not have a good mechanic. I had a exhaust, suspension and small oil leak issue on a car I recently bought. They fixed the holes in the entire exhaust, adjusted the suspension to the proper height and found that my value gasket was causing a leak which they replaced. This was for a Lexus which usually means big money repairs. Instead it was extremely reasonable and the work was done in a very timely fashion. Plus they personally followed up with two phone calls one and two weeks later to make sure everything was perfect. After driving the car for a month I realized the suspension was a bit to high so I brought it back in and they took 2 hours lowering down a bit, free of charge. While I was there my other vehicle had a taillight that was out. I backed up the vehicle, they took off the taillight, replaced the bulb and sent me out the door with a smile. Again free of charge. I thought this place was good, man am I wrong. They charged me for doing nothing to my car. My car was taken over there to see what is wrong with the AC and they wanted to charge me over 500 bucks! I decline the service that needed to be done because its too expensive and they still charged me 150 bucks for doing nothing to my car except a diagnose that did nothing good.
