I used Yelp Assistant to find this place, which was so helpful because I wanted somewhere that could fix my brake pads for a good price and were trustworthy. All the other places were super expensive and when I messaged this spot, they answered right away and gave their prices and were very honest, which is something I was looking for. When I got there, I dropped off my car and it was super easy. You just have to fill out the sheet and he was even kind enough to also add on the oil change that I wanted even though they were pretty busy. It took just a few hours and I came back to pick it up and the cost was so much better than if I went anywhere else just to do one of those things. I will definitely be back. Best auto shop ever!!! Had a funny vibration in the front end of my Toyota Sienna van and thought the worst. I dropped it off and less than two hours later it was done. All it needed was air in the tires and a tire rotation. I have waited almost a year to write this review to make sure the job was done correctly. I had a remanufactured engine installed in my van that I provided to the shop. Although the engine came from another supplier there were many parts that had to be installed on it before the engine was placed in the van. I was referred by a friend at work. Kinda nervous to go to another mech cause i've been getting screwed over so many times and the problem still exists. My engine light came on and I drove with it for a lil while, no money left to get it fixed. So I took it in to Raymond @ Norman Bros. Auto and he knew exactly what was going on with my car! coils misfiring,a/c leaking, sensor, rotors and front brakes, and a oil change.. ughhhh.... but..good news finally. I am new to Jacksonville and needed immediate service to my car. I literally had to find the closest mechanic before my wheel fell off. Maybe that is a stretch, but my front end was making a loud noise that could have cost me a small fortune to have fixed. I was prepared for the worse... Checking my car in was casual and low stress. The estimate was super reasonable. There was plenty of room to get gouged, but even the worst case scenario was affordable. It was explained that a simple repair was all that was needed. My car was fixed same day in just a few hours. I could go on, but the point is that I feel so lucky to have stumbled into Norman Bros. I read reviews on these guys and decided to get a second opinion on what a National chain proposed as a repair to the problem I was having with my truck. It was a very specific, but odd problem. Raymond and Ryan listened to me about the problem without just throwing parts and labor at it until it was resolved. Day 1 they said they couldn't duplicate problem and for me to bring it back whenever it occurred again. I recreated the problem that afternoon and brought it back and again they dove in to find resolution. No luck. I scheduled to bring it back in 2 days. Day2 I duplicated the problem again and brought it back. They ran every test and diagnostic they could, knew I had a problem but still could not determine the specific issue. Rather than throw parts and labor at it, they suggested I go to the dealer, since diagnostic tools would be vehicle specific. Although they couldn't fix my problem, they didn't charge me a dime and were able to narrow it down enough for me to provide useful information to dealer. It was not their fault, they couldn't figure it out as it is a very unique problem (fuel / emissions related). 100% honest, they listen, they do not just throw parts at the problem to see if it works. Will absolutely deal with them in the future on any other issue with my family's vehicles. Great service and nice guys that armed me with a ton of information to keep my dealer in check. Most pleasant auto repair experience I have had. I took my car to Toyota for an airbag recall and they did a "routine check" on the car. When I went to pick it up they had a laundry list of repairs that they said needed to be done totaling over $650. I knew the car needed some maintenance as we have had it for 5 years without much work besides a new set of tires and oil changes, but what toyota gave me seemed excessive. I sent the list (excluding prices) to Norman Bros Auto Repair and he quoted me, for the exact same repairs, at $450. I took my car in and he told me he would check and make sure everything actually need to be done before he did it. I picked it up the next day and he told me that Toyota had several things listed that didn't need to be replaced; its hard to find an auto repair shop that is honest and not just looking to pull every penny out of you. In the end I paid around $420 (including an oil change that wasn't included in his original quote). I will never take my car to a big name auto repair shop again. read more

I hate to leave a bad review for a local business, but unfortunately it has to be done. I brought my vehicle in for an issue with the air conditioning a few months ago. I requested a full diagnostic (even called prior to discuss that was what I needed). I brought it in, and they did immediately look at it. Upon looking at it, they told me the air compressor needed to be replaced. They showed me the air compressor, and it definitely looked like it was on its last leg. I asked "Is that all? Are there any leaks in the line? etc." Standard questions. It was not my first run in with an AC issue. They said, "This is the issue. This is it." Trusting that word, incorrectly, I went forward with getting the air compressor replaced. I told them I would be coming in at opening to drop it off on a Friday. I brought it in at 8:00am, they did not begin working on the vehicle until after 11am. My vehicle was not done until the end of the afternoon. However, they waited to call me until an hour before close when I was out of Jacksonville and had to rush back, get an uber, and make it there before 5:00. A day after picking my vehicle up, the AC stopped working. I called them as soon as I noticed the issue and they told me to come in. After bringing the vehicle in, I was told there was a leak in the line AND the entire line needed to be replaced. I asked, "Didn't you check for leaks during the initial diagnostic? How was this not caught?"... the answer "No, we did not check for leaks." I am sorry, I am no mechanic, but if somebody brings there car in for a full AC diagnostic, isn't it common knowledge that one of the main things you do is dye the AC line and check for leaks? Especially if you're asked that the day of the initial diagnostic, and tell the customer it was done? I guess I assumed that incorrectly. Floored by this complete missed step, that was not going to cost me over $1000 in total to handle. I left. I made the mistake of coming here instead of the dealership. Their reviews as well as supporting a local business is what drew me here. I thought I would get good customer service, reliable care, and not the run around like a dealership. I was wrong. I regret not going to the dealership and paying the surcharge to begin with. At least I know they would have been thorough and completed every step in the diagnostic of my vehicle so instead of coming back week after week when a new issue gets uncovered, just addressing everything at once. After this, I am even questioning if the air compressor was the issue to begin with, or just a $600 rouse. read more

I had a leak in my fuel lines and couldn't find anyone to even look at my car. My neighbor recommended Norman Brothers and when I called them to see if they could repair my car, they told me "sure -- no problem". They diagnosed and fixed my car in a day, and for far less than I feared the repair would cost. My fuel tank needed to be dropped for them to diagnose the problem, so they called me to let me know the estimate to do that so I could approve the repair. Wow! Absolute best customer service from Raymond and his brother whose name I cannot recall. I only spoke to him once as Raymond normally answers the phone. He is one of the two brothers-both US Military Veterans. Was happy to give them my car for work. Raymond took endless calls from me on my car - 2004 Honda Civic-gave me a more than fair estimate and when I was able to come in, stuck to the estimate. They all did amazing work and I still have 1 more project to do, that they will finish when I'm able. Excellent group of people and 2 brothers that proudly served our country in the Army and Navy.
