The bar has a warm, cozy, and intimate feel to it, especially since it was decorated for the holidays. Loved our bartenders who were so sweet and made sure we were taken care of. In simplest words, 5-star dive bar. Maxine's is a fantastic place to meet up with friends for drinks and the best popcorn around. Maxine's makes craft cocktails, not drinks. They have a fantastic selection of beer and a super collection of hard liquors. I went there Friday night with 4 people total, and the bartenders were attentive and knew that they were doing. The biggest compliment that I can give the bartenders is consistency. I ordered an old fashioned with bullet bourbon from the first bartender and it was perfect, all levels were spot on. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a second one. A different bartender made it and it had the same level of perfection and the levels were spot on. That is the sign of a fantastic watering hole. Came here for a fundraiser for 7hills homeless center. The drink menu was fun and playful (period themed). The main menu was large, with a variety of cocktails. There are metered spots across the street and by the Fayetteville Square. There is also a metered parking lot within walking distance. My only complaint is the space between the bar and booth seating. It gets cramped very quickly when people are waiting for drinks at the bar. Overall, this is a different concept than what is offered on Dickson street, appealing to the older cocktail crowd with an upscale vibe. read more

Maxine's is a great little place, a classy dive if such a thing exists. It's not a place you go to watch the game, pound shots, and get your freak on...if that's your goal head down to one of the Dickson Street establishments. But if you want a well made cocktail to start or end your evening, Maxine's is it. During COVID times they've increased their seating by erecting a tent in the vacant lot next door. I'm hopeful they'll keep this addition once the pandemic has ended, because enjoying a perfectly made Pim's Cup on a warm spring evening is a treat! read more

This is the coolest, hippest bar in Fayetteville (in my opinion) with such a nice vibe. This is the place you would go before going out on the town, if you want a chill really good drink, or after a long night out. This is my favorite bar to go to when i don't feel like going to a super crowded, fratty bar. The drinks are all very well thought out and delicious with fun, quirky names and interesting ingredients. They have a seasonal menu that changes from time to time and always has really fun, delicious drinks. They offer fresh popcorn with Parmesan cheese, black pepper, and olive oil, or nutritional yeast sprinkled on top. The bartenders have always been very nice and helpful. You can tell they know what they're doing! It does get pretty crowded so if you see a booth open you'll want to snatch it! read more

What is up with the bad reviews?! What a classy bar! I stopped in last week and love it. If I still lived in Fayetteville, Maxine's would be my meet-up spot for all my happy hour opportunities! I live in Brooklyn and occasionally meet up with other moms for a happy hour beer. I wish Maxine's were in my neighborhood because it would be our regular spot, without a doubt. It's fun, clean, and the music doesn't blast my ears out. The lighting is nice, the bartender I met was a sweetie, and the drinks are awesome.
