Tasty bagels. Not quite up to NYC standards, but probably the best bagel in the Stuart area. Get there early on weekends or else they start to run out of the popular flavors (I'm looking at you, Everything!). The place is dirty, the bagels are like rolls with a hole and their texture sucks. The owner, Vaughn is as rude as they come...like he's doing you a favor by letting you overpay for poor quality. They use a microwave to cook - the counter and floors are filthy. Behind me in line was a woman returning with a bag of bagels complaining she had found a hair in her bagel and wanted a refund. The owners of this place ought to take a research trip to NY or Montreal (or even just go to Broadway Bagels nearby) to learn how to make and serve a bagel. I paid about $4 for an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. I though they forgot the cream cheese and used butter, that's how little cream cheese was used. Never again. read more

The coffee was burnt and my bagel had a hair inside it! I spoke to the owner Vaughn Hill and he told me to "get a grip" when I asked for my money back. When I commented about how dirty the place looked, he told me to leave. When I told him I would when I got my refund, he told me he was calling the police and telling them I was trying to rob the place! All this in front of a huge line of customers! After doing some research on this clown, I found he opens a new closes a new restaurant every couple years, presumably because he does business like this.... My family and I absolutely adore Max's Bagels! Their bagels are always so fresh and delicious!! We always buy extra and slice them up to freeze and enjoy throughout the week. This place is amazing. They have such a great selection of bagels, plus the flavored cream cheeses makes the flavors really pop! They don't skimp on the coffee either, whereas some places have great food but crap coffee- this definitely is not one of those places. read more

I walked in and the lady from the cash register was rearranging the bagels with her bare hands and then wiped her nose with her hand. I asked for a sliced bagel and she touched it with her hands, without putting gloves on, after just touching cash from the previous customer. I asked if she just touched my bagel after dealing with money with her hands (which I just saw her do while slicing my bagel) and she rolled her eyes at me and walked away to get another bagel. Disguisting experience, went in and bought two of the bagel breakfast sandwiches (Indian St. location). Went with the Classic and the Western. When I realized the Western didn't include meat I inquired and was told I could add meat for an extra charge. No problem, went with the sausage patty, that's when routine turned to disgusting. When the sausage came out of the microwave I noticed a whitish piece on the edge which looked like mold then noticed the clerk clean it off and include it on the sandwich. I asked the young snot nosed guy who prepared it what it was after he finished wrapping it and he lied to my face and said it was a fatty deposit. My mistake was giving him the benefit of the doubt. I paid and walked out with the breakfast sandwiches, but upon eating it I could realize almost immediately that it was a moldy piece of sausage and quickly spit it out. I didn't go back but I'll never go there again and I hope others learn from my mistakes. I can't place all the blame on the young teenage *unk who served me crap, lied to me and charged me for it as there is clear issues with the management who doesn't throw away old moldy food and instead hope to pawn it off on unsuspecting dummies like myself.
