MaxSold should be investigated. I won an item in a legitimate live auction, only to be told on pick up day that the item was "no longer available." No real explanation was given. Just a vague excuse and a support team that clearly didn't care. This is not just unprofessional -- it raises serious concerns about the integrity of their auction process. If sellers can withdraw items after bidding ends, that's deceptive and potentially a breach of contract. It's hard to trust a platform where winning doesn't actually mean anything. MaxSold needs to be held accountable. At minimum, buyers deserve transparency and protection. Until then, I would strongly advise others to think twice before trusting this company. read more

I've held many auctions and purchased from even more Auctions. I love the recycling of items Instead of landfill. if you have an issue with an item at pickup, you can refuse the item and get a refund. I have done this before as some times it's hard to tell much by pictures. You need to understand the requirements before you sign up for the auction. Highly recommend. read more

I bought a lamp described as "great lamp," and wanted to test it on-site at pickup. The Maxsold employees denied entry to the house to anyone who asked, and there was no outdoor electrical plug. Upon taking the item home, it did not turn on, and I noticed the lamp was actually quite dented on one side, which surprised me that I hadn't noticed before bidding. I compared it to the auction photos and it was photographed to avoid the dented side. I explained this in the claim form and was denied a refund because I didn't complain at pickup, where I was unable to even plug it in to test. The people at the pickup site were pleasant and the man ahead of me had already had a heated exchange trying to get into the house to test another item, so I didn't repeat the fight, but I knew there was no way I'd be permitted to plug in the lamp without leaving. I'm quite disappointed in the ethics of the exchange from Maxsold, and I'm disappointed I can no longer trust them to describe items accurately. read more

Most times the items are NOT as pictured or described. Numerous either all or some of the items you have bid on and won will be missing on the day of pick-up. Other times, pick-up is not possible because of unaccessible home (some industrial warehouse, gates community, condos, etc.) Maxsold will always put the blame on you, the bidder! I know of instances where items pictured were of empty boxes, and on pickup the buyer was told that they should have guessed that the boxes are empty. Hah? Stick to eBay, Etsy, and other sites. read more

Worse experience I have ever had with any business in my life. We had my mothers house that needed to have the items sold we figured MaxSold would be a great way to do this. I totally regret ever even having them at all. From the start to the finish it was a horrible experience. We had never done anything like this before and lost her mother a year and a half ago. Her home was very Large and she had kept things since the day we moved into that house. 90% of everything in that house was of vintage and or collectible. Some of it was not. We hired MaxSold to come and put the items into lots in order to have an online auction. Granted there was a lot of things and things were not in very good order. But how they did it was completely unprofessional. The pictures they took how they put the items in lots and the descriptions or vague and or not even for what was and or should have been saying it contained. Then they want to turn around and blame us for the description saying we could have changed them. But we would have had we been informed we could have. But that was never brought up to us until it was too late. So they want to turn around and put the blame on us instead of on their fault for not walking us through this since it was something that we had never done before and also very traumatic experience for us having to auction off all of our mothers items. So the auction goes and things didn't sell as they should have because of the descriptions. Now to today comes to pick up day where the people are coming to pick up the merchandise that they won the bids on. This was a complete crap show in the front Front of the house where there were at least 20 or more people scrambling up the driveway going inside of the garage. People are wandering into the house without being checked in with someone. Or I should say with one of the three people who were there. No organization complete chaos. They were letting them take our boxes and our packing materials out of our garage for these people giving it to them to pack their stuff when it clearly says bring your own packing materials and help. They didn't follow those rules either your workers. This was a 300 lot auction can you imagine how big that was and what a mess it was Only having three workers to take care of it and I don't think together all three of them had one brain. They were unprofessional rude and even made sarcastic remarks. Lots went missing and their comments were sarcastic and rude as to why are we even worried about it. Well it's all our things and yes we are worried about it. We don't know where some things were we don't know if people stole things. Nobody was watched or checked one on one for their items. People were taking things that didn't belong to them. Then come to find out items were listed in two different lots so two people would bid on them and win and it was only one merchandise. They said this was the biggest auction that they have ever done Yet they didn't even have the staff to provide the proper management of pick up and or labeling and setting into lots. To me It was greed they saw $$ with our auction And that was that because no matter what they make their money even if items don't sell. I am utterly disgusted disappointed angry and find it's so hard to believe that this company hires the people that they do on the setting up of lots and naming them and also for the pick up. Everything was a total fiasco. And this is not even harsh enough to say exactly what it was. How I would really love to say it would not be something I would want to put out because it would not be good words. I wThe lack in their employees personal conduct and how they spoke is unacceptable. Everything about today at the pick up was unacceptable and unprofessional. Having attitude and smart ass comments because we were looking for missing lots for people who purchased them. I saw a man by himself going in and out no one checking anything. I asked one of the workers why is there a man in a room all by himself taking items out of there and out to his vehicles without anybody watching him at all. I could not believe her answer, she says "oh he's one of our regulars he's fine we have no worries about him at all, He comes to every one of our Auctions he's a regular. Besides He bought 20 lots of your stuff. Well excuse me but I don't give a crap if he's a regular or not you don't trust anyone with someone else's things. We didn't have a ton to sell (most of it did go), so we are going to end up paying them instead of making any money!! Clarity in the process is pretty lacking. I've had a few friends that used Max Sold and were very happy with results. I've also talked to a few sellers that were happy to get items out and moved compared to paying someone to haul away. Empties a house quickly for a down size or move, and many buyers bidding. It can be very very time consuming to list items, try to sell each, sellers don't show up locally, shipping is expensive, consignment stores may take months to sell etc. MAXSOLD eliminates that hassle. I've been to many sales and find typically items well described, ( I look very carefully and enlarge all pictures) items are as is and used with likely some flaws ...sales seem organized . Many items that used to be popular and some think are "valuable" for example decorative plates, very heavy large antiques, may not go for the price one hope for, so for a few that may be disappointing. odd that 'shout' seems to be hiding all the positive reviews read more

AVOID! I recently purchased from Maxsold and was totally disappointed. I picked my pickup time slot and showed in time. This is DESPITE the auction pickup location being in a completely different town (it was listed as Watsonville and was in a town, Corralitos, about 20 minutes away). The old gentleman with glasses who seemed to be in charge, did NOTHING to facilitate traffic and help organize pickups. Instead, he'd slip off to his car and eat his lunch. When he wasn't doing this, he was busy complaining about how tired he was. Not too sure why - as he had all the women employees doing the actual work. I told him that due to location and the evident mishap, I would NOT being coming back to reload. To which he balked about how I'd be "banned and reported." LOL. I told him to please do, I spent a whopping $3 on my lot and would not be back due to the sheer disorganization. I'd avoid bidding on their actions and hiring them for any purposes. read more

Absolutely horrendous service and communication. I'm currently in the process as a full-on Maxsold led auction. Meaning I am paying not only a flat fee but a % of very poor performance thus far for work they are responsible for providing. First - I was very explicit on what would be required. I do estate liquidation but thought I'd use this service so I can get a jump start on clearing my next round of items. I was told Id have a minimum of 4 staff with a possible add-on to 5 for a minimum of one or maybe two days. Only 3 showed up, one was a no-show. The lead even had this look that they needed more and claimed she was going to request for more help. She was also suppose to call/text me when they were complete - both did not happen. Second - Given the shortage of staff, these 3 obviously became rushed, careless, and starting lumping 50-100 UNLIKE items as a group. Clear sign of being rushed or pure laziness. Third - the draft auction was like a third grader wrote it. You are speaking of over 50% of the listings contained embarrassing misspellings. Descriptions were so weak, if a lot contained 20 items - the description would describe ONE item that was cracked. Very poor representation to maximize a sale. Fourth - Communication from Operations Manager is poor as well. You'll receive alot of auto emails, but if you email to get a status - you'll get zero response. Everywhere on their website it says you'll get your auction draft within 2 business days. The on-site lead told me one business day. Well ... more than 2 business days passed and I had to leave a very stern voicemail to get any type of response. Fifth - You'll be paying them for a service that will NOT maximize your returns. The objective is for them to be paid for FULL SERVICE, but items will be put into LARGE lots in a rushed/lazy manner to liquidate as much as possible for cheap. Sellers on Maxsold post merchandise for sale and do not tell the buyers when the merchandise is broken, cracked, chipped, crazed, water marked prints, etc. Rotten wheels on a garden cart, plates advertised as a set but one will be different, a trunk with badly rotted bottom and rusted thru metal strapping, a garden fertilizer cart with broken plastic loading section, they switched garbage cans on one auction, electric tools with non conforming plugs, a kitchen faucet with only a handle and two hoses. they switch hand tools, a wrench for vise grips. They advertise a rtwork as signed painting but is reproduction of painting. When complained they defended their lie. I refused to take it and got a refund slip. Later I would file for refunds sometimes. At one point I quit bidding and cancelled my account but I did go back but was selective about sellers and type of merchandise. Last week I won bids on three different auctions. Two auctions had broken, chipped items so I filed for refund. This week again I won a bid on glass items and again were chipped, scratched, dirty, manufacturing defects so I filed again for refund and they have suspended my account. Beware of these auctions! They casually misrepresent merchandise, do not give measurements. They do not tell you if steps are involved, they will not lift a finger to help you load. Some sellers might offer help but MAXSOLD will not, typically. Beware, know it is not worth the hassle to deal with companies not valuing their buyers. read more

WOW UNBELIEVABLE! I have been bidding on auctions with this company for awhile now but not anymore. I have always paid in full when I've won items on their auctions. I have always worked around their schedules to pick up items i have won. But earlier this week I was unable to pick up a small home office paper shredder that I won and paid for. I emailed them prior to let them know I could not make it and I talked to a guy on the phone to inform him I could not make it over to pick it up. I even told him that if anyone there wanted it they could have it for free. He said no problem and thanked me. Then I placed some bids on another auction happening in Napa. After placing the bids I received an email from MaxSold telling me that they have suspended my account because I did not pick up the item. I replied back to them and explained the above. They sent me a reply this morning saying they "came to the decision to ban your account". But yet my bids are still listed on the Napa auction. If my account has been banned my bids should also be removed from the items. If they are not removed it makes other bidders bid higher then they may need to. My advise to anyone thinking of doing business with this company is DON'T DO IT. My advise to the people running this company. Treat your customers fairly or you won't have any customers. read more

Maxsold handled the estate sale of a dear neighbor. I sat at the computer for days biding on things that meant the world to my kids. They were very close to the deceased. Of these bids were odd/old games that were being taught to my kids. I won, yea. Not so fast. We were giving the third degree to enter but somehow Maxsold allowed someone else to walk off with our bid. They even knew who took them, a repeat customer. Maybe that explains the theft. Yes, I got my monies back but I will never get back the memories they stole from my kids. Maxsold's employees at this sale were very poorly trained. Well spoken does not replace training. They suck. There are some really good deals to be had if you are a buyer and if you are a seller and want to get rid of your stuff quickly then Max Sold is a good way to go. Max Sold needs a new scheduling system for pick up. Buyers were to be provided with the pick up address once they signed up for a pick up time. The address was not provided. A note of caution: Do NOT purchase jewelry in a Max Sold auction. I was in a bidding situation on some jewelry and the bidding escalated to a high amount. I was rather disappointed when I picked up the jewelry. It was not as described. I paid WAY too much and came to the conclusion that I was probably bidding against the owner in the auction. It was a risk I took and I accept responsibility for my purchase of the garbage jewelry. Don't make the same mistake I made. read more

Their customer service leaves a great deal to be desired, I had to call a half a dozen times to even get a call back. In all fairness, as a seller, I did get rid of most everything, and that is a huge plus. The workers who came to the house were nice and professional and worked hard. The managers behind the scene, not so much. The idea of putting items in lots is good as some not so desirable items end up going where otherwise the seller would be stuck with them. However, there was a lot of cherry picking meaning when no one was looking the buyers took what they wanted from the lot that they won and then left, leaving stuff for the seller to clean up. Also, there is absolutely no incentive for someone who wins a bid to actually show up. They say that they will be banned from future auctions, but the workers say that never happens. In my case, a few lots had a winning bid of $1.00 or $2.00 yet the buyers no showed and I was stuck to deal with it. I even told the workers that I would be happy to coordinate an alternate day for pick up but never heard another word. One of the items was HUGE and a major inconvenience to deal with. It should have then been offered to the runner up bid but that didn't happen either. They need to come up with a policy that if a winning bidder fails to pick up their purchase, then a penalty of say $100.00 is automatically charged to their credit card. There was one item where the box was soiled on the bottom. The seller showed up but did not want it as there was no indication on the listing of this. The workers refunded the buyer and assured me that I would be be credited with the money since it was not my fault that there was no mention of the soiling on the listing. One of the workers then took the item without my approval since I would be credited with it. I did NOT receive credit for this item (and it was one of the higher priced selling lots) even after back and forth messages with management. "Patti" did not want to seem to listen to what happened. It was like a game. So, am I glad the stuff is gone? Yes. Would I use Maxsold again, No. If you do decide to use them as a seller, be prepared to micromanage. read more

I came all the way from Sacramento to pick up an armoire I won in an auction. The measurements were off, and that was already preventing me from taking it home. Joan admitted that she posted the wrong measurements because she went off of the writing on the tape that was on it. She also noted that the width was measured in the wrong area. On top of that, this armoire was incredibly heavy....easily 400-500 pounds. It would take five men and a trailer to take it. The listing did not note any of this information, otherwise I would not have bid on it in the first place. Obviously this company did not familiarize itself properly with this item. It was not a normally heavy armoire. I wasted my time and the time of my brother in law and sister, as well as gas, only to come up empty handed, with no apologies from Joan. I will never bid on anything from them or Max Sold. The professionalism was completely void. And to add insult to injury, she tried to claim that I agreed to only half of my money back. She simply asked me 'do you want me to sell this to someone else?' ...well of course, because I can't take it home with me! I had to argue against this via email. I finally got my full refund. Expect your expensive items to go for next to nothing. Customer service is atrocious, callbacks do not happen at least not for me and I am an active customer. So disappointed. Would've been better off having a garage sale and now we're about to give them $1K when we didn't even make close to that. They don't seem to do anything in the way of advertising your sale, I've started posting on Craigslist about it, just so my $1k desk doesn't sell for $20.
