My husband and I were in Monterey for the weekend and decided that it would be lovely to get a couples massage somewhere. The hotel we were staying at unfortunately did not have any openings that evening so we began to call around places. We called May's Wellness Spa and we were so excited that they could accommodate us for that evening at 6:15 PM which was only a couple of hours away. The place is tucked back with a lot of residential homes nearby so I wasn't quite sure we were in the right place, but it was easy to find. The inside was clean and cozy, and the ladies were very friendly and accommodating. My husband and I opted for the 90 minute massage and it was worth every minute. Both ladies did an amazing job. I requested a basic Swedish massage and my husband went with a deep tissue massage since he was pretty sore from a rough work week. Small cozy massage place. My bf and I did the 90 minute deep tissue massage and left feeling so relaxed. They really relieved all my knots! You know a massage is good when you feel the end is nearing and you don't want it to end! The staff was professional and kind and the place was very clean. The pressure was consistent and perfect the entire time and unlike some places, they don't have side conversations with eachother so it was so peaceful that I even fell asleep for a bit! My back, neck, and shoulders were all gnarly from having moved house and then a couple of solid days of travel by car and plane, then sleeping badly. Kwan was my masseuse and she did an amazing job with the deep tissue massage providing the right pressure and identifying all the problems areas in my back. She alleviated my back pain tremendously and my husband received a Swedish massage from May and he stated that she provided calm strokes and helped him relax. We were so lucky to have found this gem last minute. The online booking process was quick and easy. We arrived about 15 minutes before and immediately had a calm and welcoming vibe. The location was perfect, just a few minutes near Alvarado St and plenty of parking on the weekend. It is a clean and relaxing setting from the lobby to the changing room. We booked a couples massage and upgraded to deep tissue. After changing into a clean robe and comfy sandals that they provided, we were taken to a room to start to unwind on the table. We each had an amazing massage. The masseuse worked their magic, through the entire time I felt her working through each area in a way that was so therapeutic both body and mind.
