At the moment she is the only esthetician in the office so no need to request her--she's it! At 'face&body' you can get waxing as well as the expected skin care and facials, make up etc. Waxing is meticulous (even uses tweezers to get those spots that may be missed). She uses different kinds of wax for different parts of the body. As pain free as waxing can get. Last time I checked there was a special reduced rate if you booked your next wax within 4 or 5 weeks of the first one. European educated and licensed Cheryl is CA State Board Certified. She lived in Belgium for many years before returning to her home in Monterey. She had her own spa there. Cheryl is her own best advertisment as her skin is incredible and she look 20 years younger than her 'real' age. So I have to say rite of the bat, I have the most sensitive skin of anyone I know! I have been waxed before and it was always a nightmare, even when I would get my eyebrows waxed I would have to go straight home so I wouldn't scare the neighbors. I decided to give it a one more try to get a Brazilian Wax before going on vacation and I met Cheryl, little did I know she was an esthetician in Europe for 12 years and she knew her stuff! I informed her of my sensitive skin issue and before we began she recommended I take a anti-inflammatory like Advil and some antihistamine like Benadryl so I did. WHO knew the difference a great waxer and some Advil would make. I did the entire Brazilian, and she made me feel comfortable being naked and spread eagle ( if anyone can make you feel relaxed and comfortable in that position, she can) She is so thorough that, at one point you are close to asking her to stop_ but she wants to make sure you do not have any semi-pulled hairs so not to get a nasty ingrown. By the time I was done, EVERYTHING was smooth and hairless; there were no problems at all. My skin was a little sensitive as I mentioned in the first sentence so she offered me a cool pack to calm the irritation and within a short period of time I was perfect. The experience was sooooo much better than I ever had, so I continue to see her on a regular basis and it has been 6 year now. Cheryl also offers other services which I have indulged in such as facial and massage and they are all amazing and well beyond worth the money, but she can work miracles with wax. read more

Ok. I cannot say good enough things about Cheryl. I had my first appointment with her today, and I was so very happy with the experience. After moving back to Monterey, I struggled to find a waxer who could balance affordability, level of comfort and cleanliness. Everything was SUPER sanitary, she did not double dip and always changed sticks. She helps you keep some semblance of modesty, even when getting a Brazilian. The location is small, but very cute, cozy and clean and I felt very comfortable the entire time. For anyone who says waxing is painless, I think they're crazy, but this was as low-pain as any wax I've ever had. She checks with you prior to starting about any medical conditions or medicines you might be taking that could affect your levels of sensitivity, and also chats with you the whole time; it is never awkward or uncomfortable.
