I have come to Amara a few times and always leave extremely relaxed and amazing. I always see Alicia and she does an incredible job and really takes the time to assess my needs, my problem areas, and help focus on those and give excellent recommendations to alleviate some consistent pain. She has many years of experience and you can tell in the way she does the massage. I came in one time with a stiff neck that I couldn't move. I slept on it really wrong and was in an incredible amount of pain. She helped treat me and provided me so much relief. She is very accommodating and attentive to my needs and I always leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. They offer a discount on Mondays for locals and also a monthly subscription plan. Getting consistent massages is key and I highly recommend seeing Alicia. Parking can be tricky on a busy day and the spa is downstairs from International Cafe. The spa is small but cozy and clean. They also have a red light sauna which was amazing. read more

Marketed as a day spa, however it lacked the feel of a traditional day spa. The staff was super friendly. I appreciated how they had you complete a pre-assessment of your needs prior to your treatment and followed through with your requests. We did a couples massage, however their facility cannot accommodate side by side massages, so you will be in separate rooms. There were little to no amenities for before and after treatment, and their bathroom is located in an adjacent office building next door. They're located downstairs in the corner so from the top of the street, you may very well miss it. I wasnt able to locate the parking lot they recommended, however there is a lot of street parking nearby. Overall it was a good experience. We were definitely relaxed afterwards. read more

All the therapists had read them and knew my preferences ahead of time, which was a nice touch. Loved how the music was continuous thought out the spa, contributing to the flow of treatments. Had the seasonal Coastal Currents massage from Alecia B. It was amazingly good. Strong hands worked out stiffness in neck and lower back. Dynamic massage with stretching which I love. Also loved the small touches of aromatherapy sprays; cooling mists; hot towels; eye cover; neck pillow. Clean, soothing setting; very cozy and relaxing. For this area very reasonably priced: $165 for 75 min. They will automatically add 21% gratuity which I was happy to pay. Do check it out and again ask for "Alecia B." She is awesome! Oh and depends on time of day and week whether parking is easy or hard. There is parking all up and down Lighthouse 2 hours free. read more

WOW just wow! Please do yourself a favor and get the diamond glow facial with Jen! The waiting area is this beautiful little garden outside where you feel instantly relaxed. Vibes are immaculate here. I suffer from mild rosacea and sensitive skin - Jen immediately knew what to do with my skin and walked me through what I should be adding to my skincare routine. Absolutely one of my favorite day spas and I will 100% be back! Booking online was smooth and easy. The questionnaire they ask you to fill out before your appointment was quick and easy to fill out, and I loved that they asked about things like aromatherapy, what temp you'd like the room for the massage to be, and your pressure preference. The relaxation area outside and the sign to enter quietly really set up the environment and my time here to be as relaxing and peaceful as possible. I was greeted by such kind staff and offered water with collagen while checking in. I got the 1hr relaxation massage and hot oil scalp treatment with Brandi, and she was AMAZING. I've had other massage therapists who have just quickly glanced over the questionnaire or didn't even read it, but I could tell that Brandi read it in depth to really know how to provide me with what I needed. She clarified answers I'd provided and emphasized that she will do her best to create a relaxing experience for me. And she went above and beyond! It was without a doubt one of the best massages I've experienced. She really hit all the points I asked to focus on and found spots I didn't know needed more attention and gave those spots what they needed. The room was exactly as I had requested via the form and the aroma therapy really took it up a notch. Brandi as a person was really gentle and calming, making the experience even more enjoyable! Everything, including gratuity, was paid upfront, making the whole process easy. No need to worry about anything other than the treatment you're booking. I booked the couples massage which included time in the red light sauna to start and then each of us received a 90 minute massage. It was a great deal. I love that the spa calculates the tip and uses the card on file removing the transactional feeling at the end of a relaxing experience. Elise was my massage therapist and she was a magician. I cannot wait to come back. Her deep tissue technique is the best I've experienced! I've previously come for a 60-minute massage with someone else and that was also excellent. As a wheelchair user I am always looking for accessible locations and not only was it an accessible entrance, but the table lowers so I had an easy time transferring. This is a review about Brandi. She is one of the massage therapists at Amara by the Sea. I have seen Brandi twice now and she is without exception one of the best massage therapists I have ever seen. I recently moved to Monterey and spent a lot of time trying to find a new massage therapist. I generally get a massage every few weeks given all the various athletic injuries I have sustained over the years. I am so lucky to have found Brandi. After a 90 minute session with Brandi, I almost feel like I am nineteen again. From now on, I am going to see Brandi once every few weeks. She is simply the best. read more
