Instead, I was immediately asked to give up my seat for someone who wasn't even present. As a Black man, on Juneteenth of all days, the optics of the situation did not sit well with me. The music was Black. The atmosphere was Black. The culture being celebrated was Black. Yet it felt like preference was being given to someone who wasn't even there over a paying customer who was.
