This was an easy five star review for dinner--we had come here a couple of times for their four course menu and were just delighted by the exceptional food and experience, not to mention the well-crafted cocktails and excellent wine to pair with your thoughtful meal. We were, however, a bit disappointed over recent times that they pulled back from their original plan and stated mission of including the service charge in the cost--it both seemed worker forward and made the cost seem more reasonable, with service charge built into the fixed price. Now the cost seems like any other nice restaurant--far above and beyond the printed menu price. Don't get me wrong, it is exceptional dinner and still well worth it, but a mental adjustment. Their rotating dinner menu (fixed menu, now 3 and 5 course options for different price points) is a brilliant move, meaning you can find something seasonal and new and inventive every couple of weeks. We can't afford to come every two weeks, but we do look forward to the new menu release every two weeks to judge our level of temptation. I'd also note that they apply their same model to breakfast--it is slow service, without bar service as far as we could tell. It was dinner speed at a more bustling brunch time. The food was still stellar--delicious sourdough breakfast sandwich and fabulous spiced pumpkin waffle (even if I had to fight for the advertised maple syrup)--but the service painfully slow. It works over a four course dinner with cocktails, but feels a bit more interminable as you stare at your number for breakfast for 30+ minutes--I think they need to adjust their approach here. Overall we are so grateful to have this gem in our neighborhood--fabulous food, great service... truly some of the best food and service in a neighborhood lacking great options for both. I know we are all feeling tariffs and inflation and cost of living, but the pricing approach/change has moved it from a "let's see the new menu every two weeks" to a more occasional splurge, and I'd be wary of the breakfast/brunch experience if you aren't prepared for a very leisurely day. read more

Beignet - unexpected, I really kept expecting it to be sweet but I'd get hit with the olive tapenade instead. The texture is nice, but I was a bit confused. Jewel box tomatoes - bright, fresh, and light. The mostly neutral but slightly savory feta gelato was very unique. Risotto - creamy, but still a bit of texture on each grain of rice. I loved the sweetness from the corn and richness from the squash. The peppers were delicious pops of flavor. Mille feuille - light and refreshing cream with a flaky exterior. Definitely come on Tuesday to save $16 (if the discount continues in the future). $83 for a high end-ish four-course prix fixe (includes tax and automatic service charge) isn't too bad in terms of pricing. read more

What a cool and cozy space for a low key dinner! I took hubs here for a bday dinner recently. Wednesday is their a la carte and tasting meal day. You can opt for either option. We did the a lacarte. Started w a bartender special cocktail that was light and lemony with prosecco and gin. We shared the anchovy focaccia bread with tomato spread. This was delicious. We both got nectarine and sun gold gazpacho which was light and refreshing. For our main i had the crab raviolo with shishito which was ok- just way saltier than it needed to be and the crab was just ok quality. The breaded chicken Milanese was good. Crispy and well seasoned. I could have used a bit more strawberry hot sauce. We split the dessert which was a peach gelato and earl grey sable. I was happy to get the chance to visit. Also we were told too last minute that we had to leave when there was only 10min left, that's when they served the ending champagne glasses but also started clearing our table. This was a cute place! Came here Thursday night to catch up with a friend. The service and ambiance were great. We were seated at the window bar top, which we loved, as it was great for people watching. The vibe was calm and it wasn't loud at all. I actually kind of liked that we didn't have to choose our food and that the chef sent out the 3-course tasting menu. They were able to easily accommodate a gluten-free diet, which was appreciated. We also did the actual ceremony near the window - while everyone stood around. It was perfect. I couldn't ask for a better venue. The ambiance, the food, the staff were all 10/10! Just had dinner here. Was very excited but somehow left wanting more. I felt somewhat sided by them as well. The vibe wanted to give home country house vibe, but it dint deliver on other fronts. The food was bomb but we had a reservation at 6:30, and weren't served dinner until 8pm. That would've ok if drinks and apps were flowing but the service was slow. The staff was great and very friendly. The food did not disappoint. But we heard from others and from them eventually that we were taking too long at the table which was totally dependent on them serving us. The wine selection is ok. The food was divine. I left expecting and wanting more. Bill for 3 people was around $500 before tip. That included 3 - 3 course prefix, 4 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, and one bottle of wine, which all seems reasonable. I've tried a few times to get reservations but also gave up & did a prefix menu for tuesday. When my friend and I arrived on time, like the email & sign explicitly says - they weren't even open. It was a weird welcoming experience because at the shared tables, they have you sit next to each other vs across the table. So talking is kinda awkward. I thought the chef was going to say something, but we just went into the first course at 8:05pm. The first course was interesting. I think the biggest thing I didn't realize is, the actual experience is a dinner party. Aka if you're done eating and other people at other parties are still eating, you're hanging out a bit. Or the flip side, if you're a slow eater - there's some pressure to eat faster. My predicament. the food was goood but was it waiting good. Was it peer pressure good? When it was dessert time, the staff did start serving per individual group which felt better. But at the end of it all, you had to leave. It was definitely more of an experience than anything. What an awesome night out! I've wanted to try this spot for a while and decided to do it now that I'm a week from moving out of town. A lot of times, going to a restaurant alone means feeling a bit hurried so you can be replaced by a larger party but I didn't feel rushed at all. Food was awesome and great sized portions - the stereotype with fancy/expensive is "tiny plates" but I found these were satisfying in size without being wasteful. Favorite course was the bread, a polenta sourdough with whipped ricotta. Perfect juxtaposition of crunch and fluffy, melt in your mouth. After that, the dessert was amazing, the salad was so fresh with perfectly juicy melon, and the entree steak was solid... but the cauliflower that came with it! such a nice char, the vibe was like... if roasted asparagus were assigned cauliflower at birth. I've always heard great things about Dinner Party and they didn't dissapoint. Right from the get- the ambiance awed with lovely glassware, stunning flowers and vintage doilies. We booked the communal table to get the full experience, and we had fun comparing cocktails and chatting with our neighbors. I ordered the dill Martini and my friend got a more herbal mezcal concoction and both were delish. The four course pre-fixe meal was lovely and parsed out perfectly, but the real star of the show was the service - from wine recs, dietary adjustments and overall energy we felt we were truly at a dinner party in the best way. 20% gratuity is included and if you book on a Tuesday there's a discounted price. The 20% service fee was indeed listed on the menu, but because of the unique nature of this restaurant, one can assume it addresses a built-in gratuity, which I am happy to pay and had said intention from the start, given the information provided. I have worked (and owned) in the service industry for many years, this is shady business. Why was that note not delivered at the beginning of the meal? Why not include it on the actual menu? Perhaps so when you order wine (like we did), and other drinks (like we did), that 20% service charge is applied to that too, in addition to your $80 per person pre fix tab. So you're essentially paying an additional FORTY PERCENT OF THE ENTIRE BILL TO FEES AND TIP. And I am not about to stiff the server their deserved 20% of actual gratuity because of deceptive owners. It's like ordering late night Dominos and at check out being slapped with service fee, processing fee, delivery fee, and then being asked how much you want to tip the person actually doing the work. Why is Dinner Party Brooklyn a similar check out experience to the late stage capitalism experience that is the Dominos app? I spoke to the lovely staff about the fee and their language reflected the note above. When I asked for clarification about the expectation of additional gratuity, they said it's the same as any restaurant where gratuity is never *expected* but always appreciated. So, yes. Like any other restaurant in these here United States, despite the company line given to staff and all Dinner Party BK provided literature, tipping is expected. The staff also said the fee is in place because the restaurant didn't want to raise menu prices again as they had recently done so. BUT YOU DID IT AGAIN, DINNER PARTY. YOU RAISED ALL OF THE PRICES 20% BY ADDING A 20% SERVICE CHARGE TO THE ENTIRE BILL. A BLANKETED 20% PRICE INCREASE THE CUSTOMER PAYS FOR. So yes, you raised your menu prices again. ALSO, lol, because that 20% is taxed (see pictures below), what exactly is the product you are providing that is eligible for a sales tax? Your employee's health insurance? Their paid time off? 40% of an already expensive meal is insane. Regardless of how the revenue from that service charge is allocated! I can appreciate that you provide your employees the *opportunity* to have health insurance (how many are actually full time offers for said insurance), paid time off, and higher wages. That's great. Love all of that. But that's between you and your employees. You can sure provide those things without passing the tariff on to the customer by being transparent about your menu prices so we know exactly how much we will be spending, and not feel duped into what the actual menu price is. And the irony? The 20% menu price increase is worth every penny and I would happily pay it again, if I ever go back, because the food here is ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR. What a ride. read more

Something straight out of a dream. There is nothing I love more than living intentionally and making every day things in life romantic. Dinner party does this and more ***LOCATION*** A relatively easy spot to get to in Brooklyn. I'm not a local, but it seems like there were a lot of metro stops nearby. It was about an eight minute walk from the metro we came from. ***EXPERIENCE*** I'm so grateful we came here. Ryan was our chef for the night. It seemed there were three people running the whole operation. The chef, the host, and the bartender. I get the sense they rotate roles which I love. Dinner Party's whole thing is your dining experience is meant to feel like an intimate night at a friend's place. Some of the seating is communal while others are private. I made a reservation on Resy (highly recommended doing this if you want a table). Our table was in the patio section with gorgeous doilies, dried flowers, and a taper candle. Before I dive into the food, do know that this was a two hour dining experience. Things were on the slower side, which I did not mind, but if you're in a rush it might not be a good idea to stop in. When you come in there is a set menu and you are served that. They do accommodate any allergies/dietary restrictions. This did feel like a friend's home because we didn't have a menu and had no clue what we were going to eat next. The imperfections in the dining experience added to the charm for me. It seems they rotate the menu weekly. I adored everything we ate. We started with a seeded sourdough and eggplant puree, followed by a Japanese sweet potato salad appetizer, then a curried lentil and paneer dish, and ended the night with a fig jam, pistachio topped vanilla pudding. I didn't catch the proper names of these dishes, but I didn't need the name to tell you how yummy it was. Everything was wholesome. It was beautiful. Eating these dishes reminded me why I love food so much. I love the beauty of a wonderfully cooked meal, how it brings people together, how it nutriates you, and how it makes you feel good. It's not every day I can say I felt inspired by food, but this place did that for me. ***PRICE*** We spent $136. It was a four course meal. We got two of them and my partner ordered an Americano. I think prices vary based on the time of day you come. ***BATHROOM*** It's not often I write that I left a bathroom feeling inspired. LOL I was in love with everything about this place. This bathroom felt like your art school bff's cozy bathroom. The door was covered in different art postcards and the lighting was a cozy candle. I loved the collage of people washing their hands. this was an interesting restaurant. after seeing so many mentions and reviews of this spot, i didn't to do my research and just trusted the mentions of it on notable sites. i had a different image in mind but to be fair, it is exactly what it sets out to be, a dinner party at a friend's place who knows how to cook. now, the food wasn't bad and the service was fine but the price point is what i have an issue with. the prefixe of four courses was $70, which doesn't sound bad for a regular restaurant, but the food nor the experience was good enough to justify this price. i wouldn't have paid more than $50 for the four courses had i known the type of food that would be served. the food was just generally under seasoned and bland. the first course were potato croquettes with labneh which literally just tasted like balled up, lightly fried but somehow not crunchy mashed potatoes. then came the heirloom tomato salad which was light and fresh but nothing to write home about. for the mains we were given spiced lamb and maitake mushrooms with a fennel salad and sourdough pita -- this was so regular degular. the real star of the show was dessert: a cream puff pastry filled with pistachio cream! that was the only dish out of the four that tasted of restaurant quality. now for drinks, everyone at the table were pretty blown away at the mixed cocktails. they said they were creative, unique, and delicious, and saved the meal. the service was nice but unhelpful. when we asked how the veg option of the main, the maitake mushrooms were cooked, our server said "on a pan." ?? ok?? like with what? spiced? what does it taste like? idk maybe that was part of the friend's dinner party vibes.. idk if our week's menu was blah compared to the other weeks which results in raving reviews but for us, all in all, the food was a 2.5/5 and with the drinks, it bumps it up to a 3/5. i'm sure there's a crowd out there that likes this type of food and experience but it was not for me and i felt bad for choosing this spot, bringing my friends here and making them pay for overpriced food. read more

I adore the concept of a supper club, and the proliferation of this new kind of restaurant as of late speaks to the desire for a community centered around the dining experience. The timing didn't work out for me so I had to settle for Dinner Party's weekend brunch fare, which may have contributed to my lackluster experience. I arrived 15 minutes late, with my companion arriving 35 minutes late, and there's no "reservation cancellation," because after all, not a fancy restaurant. I sat at the communal table and tried to make small talk with the person at the same table, whose friend was also late. Not much luck there. Once my friend finally arrived, we dug into our prix fixe meal of mushroom Gruyère quiche, small mixed lettuce salad, 2 roasted chestnuts, a few tiny spicy maple glazed carrots, slivered almonds; then for dessert, 1 ginger molasses cookie and 3 slices of pear. If the $25 brunch is for the ~homey vibes~, then Dinner Party does a decent job. But who says home cooked food can't be interesting and delicious? I myself have made tarts, pies and cakes at home before, and I am by no means a regular baker nor cook. Everything, including the latte and matcha latte we ordered, tasted fine, though I was left me feeling hungry a couple hours later. The dinner menu looks a lot more interesting and filling (though more than double the price at $60 unless you select a Tuesday slot which is $48). I might be willing to try coming on a Tuesday, but I would not recommend their lunch, which was an underwhelming experience. read more

Came here for a 9PM reservation on a Saturday night with my brother. We were at the communal table which, when I booked, I was pretty nervous about. I imagined the communal table as a larger table with maybe 8 people, but when we arrived it was a small round table with just 4 of us. I was super nervous at first, but it ended up being a lot of fun. I think the people you are seated with really make or break the experience you have there. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was incredible, but if you're seated with people who aren't interested in chit chatting or are just plain nasty, the rest of the experience doesn't really matter and thats a really risky line to tow as a small restaurant in NYC, so I commend Dinner Party for stickin' to their communal guns! Right upon walking in I loved the atmosphere. Even on a cold rainy night, the table next to the front door was just fine (until later ... read till the end!) The decor was so cute and I loved that all of our plates were mismatched. Those little touches really made "Dinner Party" feel like a just that. I loved the intimacy. The service was great in some areas but a little lackluster in others. For starters, our server did not come to our table until after our first course arrived, which meant we hadn't even had a chance to order a drink yet! And then, our drinks didn't end up arriving until after we finished our second course, which was a huge bummer! They have a wine menu, but in small font on the side they say they have cocktails which I didn't catch at first. Our waiter was super kind and very excited to talk about cocktails. I loved his passion and talent! I asked for "something fruity with tequila" and man, this guy delivered! 3 out of the 4 people at our table ordered it as well, and we all loved it. I didn't even intend to get a drink that night ... nevermind two!!! The food was excellent, I loved that they had a vegetarian option for the main entree, and kept all of the appetizers leading up vegetarian as well. It's very inclusive and I'm excited to take my vegetarian boyfriend here. My only other issue besides our waiter taking so long to come to our table at first was that there was a man experiencing homelessness that came into the restaurant and started heckling us for money. Now, I know this Is not the restaurants fault, but I worked in food & bev for several years, and I had been asked many times to go speak to people heckling our tables outside. And this wasn't even outside! This man fully came into the restaurant! And when our entire table told him we didn't have money he got really mad! And not one, but two employees walked past us multiple times during this interaction and did NOTHING! Now, I'm not expecting them to come pick the guy up and carry him out of the restaurant, but how are you going to witness your paying customers being heckled and not at least try to offer some assistance? My friend snagged us a resy here a little while ago and I had no idea what to expect but was absolutely delighted with my experience. Sitting at a communal group and enjoying a meal with strangers was exactly what I needed. It was so cool to experience this tasting together. The interior is so dainty and delicate. The small touches just made everything that much more enjoyable. It was also cool that the service included the resident chef coming out to explain each dish. Everything felt very personal, which makes you as the diner feel very special. Their menu is constantly changing so I won't go into specifics with the meal I had in too much detail but overall I really enjoyed it and definitely thing it is worth the price. As the name suggests, the ambiance of Dinner Party is akin to if you had been invited over to a friend's apartment for dinner. Diners have the option to sit a communal table and meet other diners or to opt for a private table. The menu included a black sesame cracker and cheese plate for an appetizer. The normal $70 pre-fixed menu now has an additional 20% nyc living wage fee on top of the 20% gratuity I would leave. The meal (which was great as always) was $240 (my boyfriend and I each had one cocktail) and we left still pretty hungry. The idea behind the living wage fee is positive and I understand the motive (Servers get health insurance, other benefits I support). But now the average folk are excluded from enjoying the dinner party experience. It's sad and I don't know if there is a better solution but I'm upset to say this is probably my last time dining at dinner party :( read more

Amazing food, amazing vibe, 10/10 experience!! Came here for a friends birthday dinner with 8 people. We were seated inside in the back and the place was so beautifully decorated, with mood lighting and fun art. We started with drinks and I really liked the gin and tonic which had a refreshing cucumber taste. The meal started with a salad that was so vibrant and crunchy and fresh that I finished all of it! We then got the main, a chicken dish, while I got the vegetarian mushroom version with crispy potatoes. I tried the chicken and it was a little lackluster, but the fried mushroom was very flavorful and the potatoes provided such nice texture! Ended the meal with this amazing halwa with coffee ice cream that just paired beautifully! The place is small so make sure to make a reservation. Such an interesting concept and a great experience with comforting and delicious food. You're meant to schedule a time slot and attend a "dinner party" where you're sat with other diners and all enjoy the same 4 course meal. **You are able to make it vegetarian friendly Our first course was a beet gazpacho which was very flavorful and fresh. The dabs of sour creme was my favorite part. Next we got a prosciutto salad with melon. Idk what the flavoring on the lettuce was but it was perf. The melons were also ripe and yummy. Our main course was a bow tie pasta with ricotta cheese and other veggies. The pasta was cooked well and the cheese tasted really fresh. Everything paired together really well in this dish. Our dessert was a lemon raspberry tart. Everyone got hugely differing sizes of slices. I got a monster slice while my dining companion got a wicked small one. It wasn't the best flavors of the night but the crust was great. Overall, the portions were a bit small but everything was well cooked and the experience was intimate and lovely. The chef even came out and asked how everything was. I love the concept of not really knowing your course list before you arrive. I wouldn't be surprised if it's pretty hard to get a reservation in an average evening because it's so small but I love spots like this that have limited seating and limited space, everything's so well curated and the restaurant itself is absolutely adorable. The staff was all so lovely and made the evening that much better. Such a pretty spot & perfect for brunch. This spot offers a strict pre-fixe menu that changes based on chef's choice & seasonality. Had the sweetest sweet peas as a starter & some duck breast with chili oil + ramp (instead of scallion) pancakes. For dessert we had cornmeal pudding with candied mangoes. Wondering if this is a BYOB spot, just missed some spirited drinks but not complaining. They also served up some very refreshing iced coffee perfect for 90 degree day. read more

Boujee overpriced joint in Fort Greene. Communal tables ( which is cool) place holds maybe 20 ppl indoors and out. There are no choices. They list online what you'll be served and give you a card when you go to remind you. Such a cozy and unique experience! My friends and I came here with a reservation on a Saturday night and had such a lovely time! When we first walked in, we were immediately welcomed into their super aesthetic and cute interior. We had one person with a gluten intolerance in our party and they were very attentive and provided alternative options to the dinner course. This restaurant has a different dinner course every week that they post on Instagram so you can check before you go! We got a beet and labneh dip, Brussels sprout salad, squash and Parmesan risotto, and carrot and ginger cake. All very delicious and felt homemade as well. An actual hidden gem in the neighborhood of Fort Greene. Ended up walking by here only to find out they do pre-fixe menu and require reservations in advance, but ended up booking it a week later. The experience here is really what you come for; the food is great, the vibe is great and the staff is awesome. The vibe/decor of the place is a cozy home with hand-picked antiquated goods (different cups, plates, wall decor, lighting, plants etc etc) that give it a very unique atmosphere. It's almost pulled out of a movie and is pulled off very well. The staff was super chill, talkative and attentive. Bonus: the chef came by just to thank us for coming out and it was a nice surprise. The food: First, the booze: BYOB. Second, the food: Pre-fixed menu that is released the week of. They have vegetarian options and I think are super accommodating with other food allergies (based on yelp reviews). I personally thought the food was pretty good, not mind-blowing and could use some finishing touches to complete the experience but I think that will come with more time. Long story short; 40$ pre-fixed menu and BYOB in a super unique dinner space that will make for an eventful night. read more
