This started off badly. Piss poor customer service on day one, minute one at Disney. We made reservations here, then saw the $75/head projected cost for a cheap Tex-mex meal. Decided we'd rather try something else. Called to cancel literally 4 minutes after the reservations were made online -received a "you'll have to pay a penalty to cancel" line of bull from teenybopper call taker. Looks like I'm shafted into eating this crap whether I want to or not. Expected better from the Disney brand. It's a crying shame when an eatery has to kidnap and entrap its customers. Wow what a terrible dinner at Maya grill. $200 and after 1:45 the grown ups didn't have food and had to leave with take out containers instead. The restaurant was no where near full. I don't get it. They're either under staffed or their process sucks but either way they don't talk about it. Avoid. This place made one of our few Disney nights really unpleasant. read more

I don't understand why people are hating on this place at all. As another person already stated, foreign cuisine has to be dumbed down or people complain and won't eat it. Even with working with that, they managed to make really good food. My husband and I had shrimp tacos, steak tacos, chicken tacos, chimichangas, guacamole, and the corn souffle. Everything but the guacamole (which I am SUPER picky about in the first place) was incredible. Especially the steak tacos. Those bad boys were awesome. Yes, the place is expensive, but if we hadn't had the dining plan already and had actually budgeted for Disney, I would still splurge on it. We were looking at getting something exciting and different, so we got the Fiesta Fiesta de Coronado - Serves 2 people. It consists of mixed grills, Grilled Sirloin Steak with chimichurri, Chicken al Pastor with esquites, and Seared Chorizo de Cantimpalitos with roasted vegetables $51. The food was amazing, very tasteful! The menu prices are on the slight pricey side but its not overwhelming ridiculous like some resorts, where they take advantage of the guests. Located at the beautiful Coronado Springs Hotel this overpriced Mexican Restaurant made me a little embarrassed to be part Mexican! I think it was the Mexican in me that had me craving some hopefully delicious Mexican Food, but alas instead I was "treated" to a palatial ass whipping! I was curious and unfortunately this time I was the windshield instead of the fly! They certainly make a valiant effort here, but unfortunately just fail on actual execution. Service was ok... it was friendly, but I think it's because when you work for Disney it is kind of an expectation. The restaurant has an open air seating area making seating seem cold, uninviting, and seem more like a Cafeteria environment. It's nice and clean... it just doesn't come off as inviting at all. It is a Disney Resort restaurant which translates to decent food, great service and overpriced meals. That said the food was very good and the fried cheese was a nice treat. The pork was tasty but a bit salty and the salads were fresh. IF you need a sit down meal and are looking for something close to Mexican give it a try! read more

UM eeeeeeeeew. This restaurant is overpriced and overrated. I came here on my first night at Disney. My friends and I had had a long day of travelling and wanted to have a nice, sit-down, relaxing dinner. I liked the decor of the place even though it is a little cheesy. Our waiter was really friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, so that's what the star is for. I love food. And I will try anything. But honestly, not a whole lot on the menu jumped out at me. I ordered a dish that turned out to be completely fried, so much so that you couldn't even really taste the actual fish and calamari. It all just tasted...fried. My wife and I have been Disney foodies for quite some time. We've hit almost every restaurant in WDW and have purposefully avoided Maya Grill due to all the bad reviews we've read. Recently, my wife attended a conference at the Coronado Springs resort, and we decided we might as well give Maya Grill a try. We were pleasantly surprised. It seems other Yelpers either love or hate the atmosphere. We were in the Love It category. "Dim and cozy" is the best way to describe it. The coziness is brought about by the dining room being split into multiple smaller rooms so you only have about 20 other diners sharing your space. I started off with the black bean soup. I expected the same thing I've gotten at every other restaurant, Disney or otherwise: a bowl of canned black beans with a garnish such as rice or sour cream on top and always with a bit of a film from sitting too long on the hot plate. I was surprised when our server placed a bowl in front of me that contained only tortilla strips and queso fresco. She then proceeded to pour the black bean soup into my bowl from a separate pitcher. It was a nice touch. The soup itself was tasty and not too salty as I've come to expect at other places. For my entree, I had the Mahi-Mahi a la Veracruzana. This is basically the same dish they serve over at San Angel Inn, although I thought the Maya Grill version had a bit more of a kick to it, which I enjoyed. We ended with some sort of pear-filled pastry served with vanilla ice cream (I can't remember what it was named on the menu). My wife thought it was OK, but I thought it was a nice light end to our meal. The service throughout the meal was excellent. The only complaint I had was that our server constantly said "gracias" to us every time she came to our table. I couldn't figure out what we had done to garner such thanks from her. We decided to come back for breakfast on the day we left. I had the traditional breakfast. What can I say? You can't screw that dish up. It was as good as I've had at any restaurant of higher quality than Denny's (i.e. where the bacon isn't paper-thin). My wife had the eggs benedict and thought it was as good, if not better, than the same dish at Grand Lux Cafe. Every other day, my wife ate breakfast with her colleagues at the Pepper Market. She observed that the traditional breakfast at Maya Grill was only $1 more than at Pepper Market. Given that you are charged a 10% gratuity at Pepper Market, she was disappointed she hadn't eaten at Maya Grill every day. The food was prepared to order and she didn't have to sit in a loud food court setting, which she felt would have been worth a few extra dollars each day. read more

We're from Texas and I married a Mexican, so why we ate at a "Mexican" Disney restaurant I will never understand. Us Texans are SO much more in tune with Mexican cuisine than the way Disney glosses over the authentic. The food wasn't bad, don't get me wrong. But it wasn't Mexican. I would call it Modern South American Fusion. We got the $50 platter that was for 2 to share and the 5 shot sampler of the margaritas. They were all pretty tasty margaritas. It was fun to share and taste them all. There was a roasted corn relish of some sort on the platter that was delicious. My husband liked the chorizo that came on the platter. I really liked the flatbread and the cornbread that came out with oil and herbs before the meal. Overall, it was overpriced and not authentic, but it was still tasty and at least the portions were satisfying. This was my third trip to Disney World, and if I go back, I won't return to this restaurant. read more

This was our second trIp to Coranodo Springs Resort, and the Maya Grill did not disappoint. Both my husband and mine meal were delish. He ordered the beef and I ordered the chicken. Our waitress Kaila was attentive and accommodating. In house dinner music was provided by Marcello, and was the perfect accompaniment to dinner. I will admit, it had been five years since our last visit, and many changes have occurred. The dining has improved. I recommend it highly. By the way, Marcello was really the best!! read more

I came here for dinner after yet another conference night at the Coronado Resort. The wait here was 15-20 minutes long, despite the restaurant being half full. Turns out they didn't have enough wait staff and cooks to handle a full restaurant. Next time they should schedule their night shifts better so they can handle big conference groups. When we were finally seated, it took another 30 minutes before we ordered. The wait staff was nice, but the long wait wasn't. I ordered a Clasica Margarita, which was exactly what it was...a classic margarita, nothing more, nothing less (although it did have a grassy salty rim, which was rather unique and green). To match their green theme, I ended up ordering their steak salad. Again, nothing more, nothing less. For being a Disney resort I expected something more, but it filled my appetite nonetheless. The meat was cooked medium rare, with just the right amount of pink. The greens were plentiful along with onions, cheese, tomatoes and topped with a light balsamic vinaigrette. Overall an A-OK salad and an A-OK experience. read more

The menu gets your hopes up and the food is a let down. Everything is described so lovely, but the presentation and taste is awful for it's prices. To start the salsa legitimately tastes like the glass jar Tostitos chunky salsa which is sweet and thick and.... disgusting in my opinion. The Tortilla soup was bland and not flavorful at all, supposedly a house favorite. Guacamole is just mashed avocado, no lime, cilantro, salt spices, or flavor. Even the vegetarian tacos were mediocre, so much raw red cabbage, just chopped in super long strips, untreated, heaping over the four tacos...there's no way to eat it, it wasn't seasoned or pickled so I just pushed it to the side, the vegetable filling was substantial and warm so it satisfied. The rice was bland and basically just plain white rice as it was so pale, and the corn was super sweet. The food overall was a tremendous let down. The service was super slow and the restaurant was empty. What annoyed me the most is we ordered a pitcher of Sangria and it being Disney I only had my cell phone and my wristband on me...nearly 30 years old and they carded me, said they couldn't look up my guest profile and age, (when the waiter himself looked younger than me), yet they can use your wristband for charging privileges. The dimly light restaurant has great ambiance...but of course, you can only expect the best from the experts in theming at Disney. Borderline romantic :) But the food...the steaks, perfectly seasons and cooked to perfection. VERY savory. And don't forget dessert...save room...the creme brulee is worth it! read more

Maya is the fine dining restaurant at the Coronado Springs Disney resort. The alternative, if your staying here, is the Pepper Market which is a food court style restaurant with many different stations and one bill. Maya's decor is based on Mayan ruins, huge, two-story high structures that look like a temple... pretty typical Disney theme stuff like fountains and fake torches scattered around. The tables and chairs were not particularly comfortable.. really very average environment, a bit noisy with the hard surfaces and high ceilings. The menu included interesting offerings very nicely presented: duck, steak, chicken, soup, salad (with taco strips). I ate two dinners here and found the food to be tasty but not outstanding. Service was very uneven, I had some very good service and some really lacking in attention. The wine list was extensive and offered some interesting wines in every category. As you would expect there is a full childrens menu with some sort of Mexican style dishes. Personally, next time I would probably skip Maya and head toward Downtown Disney (4 miles away) where there is a wide variety of choices. read more

Loved this place! Loved the atmosphere--candle light, dusky and great views of the lake and the court yard if you sit in the right place! Nice, brisk service with a smile. Food was incredible! One of the best steaks and beef shoulders and creme brulee's I've ever had! We ate here quite a few times, while staying at the resort, and every dish we had was incredible! Let's be honest, not many like working on holidays. Well, this Thanksgiving, you couldn't tell at the Maya Grill. Sari DeGeorge is amazing. There was 8 of us and one was us is an active 6 year old with ADHD. Our little guy spilled a drink and she handled it like a pro, no attitude, no eye rolls and no heavy sighs. We have been here since Sunday of this week, eating at different resorts, even the Grand Floridian and HONESTLY this was the best meal, best service and best ambiance we've experienced during our trip. She actually took the time to thank my brother in law for his service in the military. No other server, cast member or hotel clerk has bothered to acknowledge his service. The guitar player was amazing as well. Unfortunately, I dont know his name but he was great. First time all week I have actually considered coming back to Walt Disney World. read more

The menu selections were the first things that confused me. If this is supposed to be Mexican why don't they put Mexian food on the menu. Steaks, lamb, ribs??? That's not Mexican. Went here with my husband, 2 children and my friend, her husband and child on Wed. March 18th. I ordered the shrimp tacos. It was very disappointing. They made a mistake by putting shredded iceberg lettuce on it instead of red cabbage. It totally brought down the whole meal. The tacos were small and rice portions were small for the price. I was still hungry after wards. My friends ordered the Parillada del mar for two. It was looked like it was for one. They were still hungry. I have no idea what my husband ordered. I think it was two appetizers for dinner. He didn't rave or complain. My kids just had ice cream for dinner. They ate PB sandwiches on the walk over. The food wasn't that great or filling for the price. We were so excited about going here. It was such a bummer! read more

After a long coast-to-coast red-eye, stumbled into the Maya Grill for breakfast and was sorely disappointed. Nothing on the menu for the health conscious, and the fruit plate with yogurt was shockingly disappointing. The melon tasted exactly the same as the 1 berry on the plate along with the banana. And a colleague commented the yogurt tasted like chalk. My omelet was obviously made from egg product and was the texture of rubber. From that day on, I believe we referred to this place as the Maya Crapper Doodle. It's really crappy. read more

Very mixed feelings... We were greeted by a very rude female greeter... Our server was very courteous and went above and beyond to fill our expectations! Management was bickering with front desk management in the middle of the restaurant. As for the food my wife and I shared the fajitas for 2 very huge portion of mostly meat, all fantastic. I dont understand why people dislike this place. 1st off, we are in America where they have to dumb down the food because if we offered real cuisine from other countries, Americans would hate it. Hence why most food at WDW is Americanized! As for the food, its good! I loved my queso and the pork tacos were flavorful. I do wish the atmosphere was more interesting, but it was not horrible. If you try anything, get the margarita flight... im in love with the Hibiscus and the Mango/Blueberry/Basil... they are delicious. The food was delicious. I got the mole ribs and mashed potatoes and the margarita flight. I fully enjoyed it all. We had to wait far longer than the hostess said, so I was a little grumpy, but we got an angel server--Sari-- who made everything better. She was so nice, that as we were leaving, my daughter said, "I want to be like her when I grow up." We left with contented stomaches and hearts. read more

The husband and I ate here twice while on vacation since we were staying at the Coronado Springs Hotel, which is where the restaurant is located. The first night our service was excellent! The waiter took the time to explain the dishes and chit chat with us. He was very friendly and personable, and made it a fun experience. Overall, the service was good. The food was decent. There were some good dishes, and some were just ok. The highlights for me were the steak, and the steak tacos. Very delicious. I was excited to try the guacamole, but it was just ok. The fried ice cream seemed like it would be good too, but it wasn't what I expected. The coconut leche flan, however, was very good. If I ever make it to Disney World again and stayed at the Coronado Springs, I would definitely eat here again. read more

The service here is slow, and the food leaves a lot to be desired. There are better restaurants at the other hotels. For the price you may, the taste is mediocre. Maya grill is definitely better than the marketplace, but I'd rather grab a quick salad than spend the dough on this food and service. Steak ordered medium came out rare, and when sent back, it came out burnt- way past well done. Server never came by to refill water or wine. This is definitely not the usual Disney dining experience.
