They were just really well done and packed with flavor which was surprising because I feel like usually when a place changes the meat from pork to chicken they lose some of the flavor. I made reservations for my birthday today for 7:30pm, they took 20 minutes to sit us. The menu is so limited, so if you're looking for good Mexican food, skip this place. We ordered chicken quesadillas and they had no flavor at all, the rice was also plain and sticky, not even salt added. The rolled flaustas were good, but they are only starters, would be nice if they had a side of beans or something. Ordered an Avocado Margarita (100% better at EPCOT) this one tasted like a milkshake with tequila. The waitress didn't offer food options, even though they have hidden dishes not in the menu, we know because we wanted a kids quesadilla and couldn't get it because it's only for ages 14 or less, but only then she said there's an adult option. I was excited to finally dine at a Rick Bayless restaurant, and from a food perspective, it absolutely lived up to expectations. We ordered four different dishes, and every one of them was delicious. The flavors were vibrant, well-balanced, and showcased exactly why Chef Bayless has earned such a strong reputation. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the food. We were dining with our children, and it often felt as though our table was receiving less attention because of it. Several simple requests for our kids seemed to be forgotten or overlooked, which became frustrating as the meal went on. We also specifically asked to begin with a couple of appetizers and then have our entrees served afterward, but everything arrived at once. While not a major issue, it made the meal feel rushed and took away from the dining experience we were hoping for. A great option in Disney Springs! The bar has some of the drinks from La Cava Del Tequila in EPCOT, including the avocado margarita! A more convenient choice if you don't want to hoof it to EPCOT, stand in that line, or shell out the park admission fees for a specialty drink. Shared the house made, fresh chips with pumpkin seed "hummus" and guacamole - everything was fresh and tasty. Loved the sliced jicama and cucumbers for the pepita hummus and the guac was top notch. Had the red sangria. It was refreshing on a hot day! Enjoyed the shrimp tacos Dorados-style - be warned, the salsa can be spicy for some but with the cabbage slaw, sour cream, and cheese in the dish I found it to be the right level. Get it on the side if you're worried. This was my first time at Frontera Cocina, and things were okay. Their location in Disney Springs is convenient and the decor is tasteful, though the main dining room gets a little loud as it's all one big room! I had a sangria that was a bit on the sweet side, but fine! It did the job. We started with the chips and salsa and the queso - and honestly, any Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve the chips and salsa at the table automatically is a peg down for me. The salsas were really nicely flavored, though! The queso wasn't your typical liquid consistency, it was more of a melted cheese that came with tortillas to put the cheese and peppers and onions in. It was fine, but not quite what we expected and maybe not worth the price tag. I enjoyed the beef quesadillas as my main - they were very tasty, but definitely gave more of a birria taco than a quesadilla. For the portion size on most items, we felt the price was a bit high. We all know this place is in Disney Springs. We walked right in on a Saturday for lunch for 5 of us. That was a great start. They started to sit us inside and we saw a table outside by the water. Ryan was our server that evening. My hopes were very high for this restaurant in particular I have been to their one in Chicago. They only have one bartender for the whole 360 wrap around bar. I have been sitting in my spot for about 15 minutes. He has not once asked me how the drink is or if I would like any food. There is another gentleman sitting down the bar from me and there is a couple across the way next to where they pour the beer. Judging by the look of this restaurant for how busy it is, I am surprised they only have one bartender working. This evening I ordered the Viva la Vida, which is a margarita that comes with a watermelon skewer with a rim up to heat for $18. It has an ancho Lacore and Mezcal along with watermelon juice and a Taheen powdered ramp if you are not familiar with an ancho Lacore it is very strong on that. I don't taste the tequila which is great however, it tastes kind of like burnt watermelon and it's not my favorite. My only saving Grace for the drink is the cubed up watermelon that is on the skewer that accompanies my drink as a garnish. I do not taste any watermelon juice. I only taste the ancho Lacore don't even taste I will get some food at this evening. I'll probably get a snack of chips with salsa. They have a smoky chipotle and an herb salsa Verde for six dollars. The inside is very nice with bright colors and very cool lighting they have paintings to the wall across from me that I believe depict downtown Mexico City. They also have a whole wall in the bar dedicated towards different types of tequila. It also seems like a very family oriented restaurant. I have counted about five different families and only about three couples. If you haven't been here, this is located across from the local octane store in Disney Springs right next to the Pandora store. 7/10 read more

Being a big fan of the Frontera salsa and Rick Bayless I wanted to give five stars here, but the overall food was salty. And expensive. I started with a watermelon margarita part of the happy hour. And added chips and salsa. You get red and green. Both amazing. The salty part was my salad. I did not add any protein and probably should have. But the dressing and everything else was heavily salty. I sat at the bar. It was quiet. Early dinner time. But more people were coming in towards the end of my meal. The dining room is large and it's easy for it yo get super loud with more people inside. There is a nice outdoor patio seating area too. Which is very nice. The margarita was decent. Frontera Cocina is a really great choice for Mexican food at Disney Springs. We started off with some drinks including a sangria, La Cava avocado and Frontera margaritas. The drinks were on point and I liked the one I ordered which was the Frontera Margarita. They were expensive, typical prices for Disney Springs. We didn't order any appetizers and went straight to the main courses. We ordered the spicy-mango habanero chicken, beef barbacoas quesadillas, creamy chicken enchiladas, tortilla soup and guacamole cobb salad. I was surprised by the portion sizes, especially with the spicy-mango habanero one, it was a huge portion. It was tasty and the chicken batter was 10/10, crispy and tender on the inside. It is a spicy dish and it could be a bit too much if you are not used to it. Overall the food was great, the tortilla soup was delicious. The only dish the group didn't enjoy as much were the enchiladas. It wasn't bad, it was a small portion and we have had better enchiladas elsewhere. In terms of service, our server was so wonderful. She was welcoming, helped us with recommendations and made the experience even better. The restaurant is pretty. It has indoor and covered outdoor seating. The outdoor area has a beautiful view of Disney Springs. It is a must try when the weather starts to cool down. They also have happy hour specials at the bar. After appreciating Rick Bayless' Torta Frontera restaurant in Chicago, we were excited to find this restaurant, Frontera Cocina, while at Disney Springs. We'd already had lunch elsewhere but stopped here to grab a drink. I was in the mood for a pina colada, but the bartender said they couldn't make those, and can only offer the cocktails that are listed in their menu. I ordered the Frontera, and my husband got the Viva La Vida. Both our drinks were overly sweet, but lacked much actual "taste", especially when compared to the flavorful sounding descriptions. Also, while they had 2 bartenders working behind the bar and the place wasn't very busy, rather than mixing each cocktail as they're ordered, for ours at least, they had large batches pre-made and sitting in big jugs behind the bar, and they just portioned them into a glass as customers requested them. In my experience that rarely results in decent drinks, and what we had certainly weren't very good. This may also explain why they told us they'd only make the drinks listed in their menu and wouldn't divert from that. They likely have the required ingredients to make other stuff (indeed, they appear to have a typical full liquor bar setup), but it's just easier for them to say they "can't". This restaurant has some nice Mexican touches, but is fairly plain overall as far as decor goes. While we were here on a Sunday afternoon, they did have a 4 piece mariachi band strolling through the restaurant and playing for customers. read more
