It was a little confusing when we walked into the hotel and saw the little bar with 8 stools! We ended up finding a seat by the bar, apparently the entire area is serviced by three different restaurants (?). It took awhile to get service and it was super sporadic with half of our order getting forgotten and three different servers but it worked out fine! Basically, the food and atmosphere made up for it! We started with chips and the flight of toppings. The chips aren't great but they need to be sturdy enough to hold up to all the dipping I suppose! The guacamole was our favorite, lots of texture and flavor. The ceviche is super fresh, as is the salsa. Lots of heat in the salsa! The chicken tacos were amazing! The chicken was nice and tender and the soft pillowy tortillas were craveable! I wish I could have tried more, it all looked delicious as it passed by our table. I was a little thrown back that this place was not really a restaurant but just a single bar in a hotel. From Yelp!, it was hard to pick that up. I almost left when I figured that out, but I was limited with time, so I stayed. The counter/bar was located right next to the hotel lobby, and there was no privacy. I felt like I was exposed to the entire lobby. Food wise, the place was just alright for me. I tried the pork huarache, which was portioned just right. However, it was just bland to me. Lindsey was my waitress and welcomed me and made me feel very comfortable. The margarita was wonderful. The tropical ceviche was light and tasty, but decided on the margarita shrimp. The margarita shrimp was a perfect choice, not too heavy and great delicate flavors. Peter plated it with such a delicate hand making the plate beautiful to look at and anticipate. Food was OK, but service (or more accurately, lack of service) was a nightmare. Server disappeared for long periods (I couldn't get my water refilled) and she never brought me a the second beer that I ordered. About 20 minutes after getting my main course I went to the host station to get my bill (no hope of my server coming by). The server came by the host station at that time and gave me someone else's bill. When I pointed out that it wasn't my bill, she gave me a different bill; the second beer was on the bill. She said that the beer was probably sitting on the bar (in a different room) and I could go get it. When I told her that I didn't want it since my dinner was done, she said that she could put it into a to-go cup, She finally took it off if the bill, yet when I asked for a copy, the receipt that she printed out had two beers on it. My friends and I laughed when we saw this place. It had an airport/mall food court type of feel to it and was tiny. Nonetheless, there was almost nothing else in the area so we tried it. It was AMAZING! The combinations of ingredients in all the dishes we tried were delicious. The ingredients were fresh. Also, this place physically shares their menu with the sushi place a few feet away, so that was convenient. For the location (a fancy hotel in a very touristy part of town), the value was pretty good. If I'm back in Orlando anytime soon, I'll be back to 98Forty Tapas. read more

The service is a 4.5 and the food was a 3.5, hence a 4 star total. As soon as I saw the word tapas, I knew I had to stop here for dinner. I sat at the bar counter since its not really set up as a restaurant. They have a huge seating area that they share with a sushi spot next door. In fact, they share the menu as well. The chef was really cool and oh my goodness, so fast! He was creating all these masterpieces in just minutes and it was actually fun to watch after a long day at a conference. I changed my order from a quesadilla to the carnitas tacos after I saw him making them for someone else. Those were very good. The meat tasted fresh and moist, and all the flavors just combined to make one awesome taco! I also ordered the Ahi Tuna ceviche. I was not a fan of this. I didn't feel like the tuna was fresh enough. Basically it tasted like it was prepared the day before, but even so, it wasn't flavorful enough. It majorly lacked the lime marinade and even some salt. This has great potential, but unfortunately I didn't really like it. Overall, the service was good. I was a little confused on how to order though. The chef was the first to greet me, but he wasn't taking orders. Someone else walked by a while later to ask for my order. But the people here are pretty friendly. You can order from their menu any where in the bar or at the counter where the food is prepared. Portions are reasonable for hotel fare, full bar order is available from the hotel bar directly across the walkway from the bar. Price is fair for the fact you are in a hotel. Very friendly, hands-on service. There's only a few seats at the bar, but you can have the food sent anywhere you want to sit. Food is prepared right in front of you. Mango BBQ ribs were awesome. The server was sweet and nice, but between the technical issues at the register and getting my order wrong, it made it a little difficult to leave with a "good" experience. The food was also not that great. This is a Latin-themed spot and it lacked all hints of flavor. I was hungry, it was edible. It got eaten. Not a restaurant. There are 8 chairs at a bar in a busy, loud hotel lobby. We had the orange guac, which was pretty flavorful but anyone could make it. It's plain guac with oranges added in. And we had the mahi mahi tacos. They are good with fresh ingredients, but nothing special. My husband and I decided that it was definitely a place we wouldn't eat at twice. Food wasn't bad but wasn't special. Atmosphere isn't good. Find a real restaurant to go to. read more
