My go-to Mexican place to order for take out. I love them so much. They are one of the few taco places that have lengua (tongue) tacos. There may be some of you that read that and think, "Ew. Tongue?" When done right, lengua is so tender and flavorful and Maya Mexican does it right. They also have the best guacamole (it's so fresh and amazing) and tortas. I usually get the birria torta. The soup is divine and possibly a spiritual experience when consuming. Definitely order from here. I've never eaten at the restaurant but maybe I should. The taco craving hit us one Sunday so we decided to pick some up on our way home from running errands, at around 1:30. There is street parking so if you wait around long enough, you'll be able to get a spot. We had the birria tacos, al pastor, and lengua. We originally wanted to try the oreja and campechanos but they didn't have it that day. These are probably the best quesabirria tacos I've had in the area. I'm normally not a huge fan because it usually ends up being soggy, and I don't really like braised meat, as it tends to be dry. That wasn't the case here. The tacos were still crispy 20 minutes later, and the meat wasn't dry. It was stuffed to the max with beef and cheese. The broth was also very good and not watery like most other places tend to be. The al pastor tacos and lengua tacos were also very good. They're a bit smaller than similar taco spots in the neighborhood but it's quality over quantity here. If they added fresh pineapple to the pastor, it would have brought the taco over the top. I also enjoyed their homemade (sauces). They have a kick to it but be careful with the dark chipotle looking one. One drop of that, and you'll be good. Will definitely be back for some more tacos. Hopefully next time, they'll have the oreja and campechano. read more

Great find in Passaic. We were all craving tacos, and the selection was perfect for everyone. My kid got two tacos de chorizo and that was very flavorful and filled to the rim of la tortilla. Three of us got the tacos de birria; it was slightly pricey but it was nicely done. The green salsa really made the birria pop. So I guess worth it haha. We enjoyed la horchata and Jamaica; perfect for this hot day. The staff was very polite, and tending to us at multiple points during our visit, and I appreciated her engagement with my son. Read the many great reviews and just had to add Maya to the list. It was the last of 3 stops. Empty is always a slight red flag for me. But not a deterrent. We pressed on. Sat down and got a bunch of tacos to try the variety of flavors. We got almost one of each kind. Overall....hmmm....how to word this respectfully.... I had a craving for legit Mexican food so I risked being carjacked by coming to Passaic for lunch. I intended to go to the Mex. Deli but they had a long wait so I settled for here. I am glad I stop here for lunch. Because the tacos are really good. I liked how the tortilla was semi fried and stuffed well with filling. I ordered the pozole soup, 2 chorizo, 2 carnita, and 2 Al pastor tacos. I always forget that pozole always comes with a couple of bean hard shell tacos. I usually go to Mexico Deli but it's an hour round trip away, it's cold...and I was feeling lazy. I found this place and they deliver to my house!! Ordered: Tacos de bistec - they are huge and the meat is so flavorful. Bonus points for all the lime they included and the grilled jalapeño. The price is reasonable. Flautas - liked but accidentally got queso ones instead of pollo. Will try pollo next time instead. Enchiladas verdes - haven't had time to try but I'm told they were spicy and good. Chips - not usually a fan of thin chips but these are homemade, crispy, and yum. Agua de Horchata - cold and delicious. Enough said. I order from this restaurant every week! I literally can't get enough of their delicious food. Their quality is consistent, my orders are always correct & packaged very well... they never disappoint! I highly recommend you give them a try because you will be nothing less than satisfied. The food is refreshingly light & doesn't make you feel like you've over done it. There are 5 tacos in each order which is the perfect amount in my opinion. I always order the same sides: quesillo, crema, & salsa verde. This place is underrated, Tacos at 1.25$ mi genteee....We order here frequently as a Mexican I have to say it's become on of my fav casual mexican spots... they have Aguachiles, the Tinga Tostadas are amazing (Chicken slow cooked in Tomato and Chipotle sauce), Tacos Al Pastor (pork) and Bistec (steak), and I ordered a side of nopales(grilled cactus) to complete the order. The place is family run and I love it feels like I'm home. Horchata is good not overly sugary and they have jarritos all the Mexican sodas...if you're looking for something authentic this is the spot dont forget to ask for both salsa Roja and verde! read more

We ordered from Maya over the weekend through UberEats because we got so tired of cooking at home and we were really craving tacos. For $34 we got enough food for lunch and dinner that day, holy cow. The carnitas tacos are really amazing here and the al pastor are not bad either. Comes with lime, radish, salsa verde, and salsa roja which I basically DRANK. So good. We also got a torta which was decked out and an order of pozole. The pozole is an entire quart and comes with two tostadas which were so light and fresh. Hope they make it through this pandemic because the food is awesome. read more
