The food is medicore and the location is horrible. The restaurant does not have air conditioning and it hot. My pakoras were made the day prior. Air conditioning and fresh pakoras would be a good place to start. I would recommend Indian Fusion or Nawab. Ambar is good too! read more

The food here is still great, as always, but -- the CONSTANT parade of Doordash and similar drivers going in and out makes the dining in experience VERY unpleasant. It was very noisy due to two things -- the only person working the tables and the phone shouting to Doordash people about how long an order would be, and, what I assume are 2 men in the kitchen, yelling at each other almost constantly. The one guy working the room was obviously overwhelmed --- a simple dinner of one appetizer, nan and our entrees took an hour to arrive at the table. I know, the place is small, but, they need to screen off an area on one side for all the pick up/delivery people so that those dining in don't feel like they are at a bus stop. Pre-pandemic, this had been a go-to place for a quiet, intimate dinner with a friend --- after this experience this past week, I don't know that I'd go back. read more

My favorite Indian restaurant in the west side. There are several much closer but it's worth the drive to go to Mayas. I got the Shrimp Mango at a level 3 - was just the right blend of spicy and a little sweet. There was plenty of shrimp in the fish, most than other places I have been. The rice was perfect - love that fragrance when you open the container. Garlic naan was spot on, great compliment to the dish. We are getting carry out now just because it is a small place and every time it's been ready on time and everything included. Friendly service and a great value for your money. read more

Great little local place. I always like to support a non-chain restaurant. Most of the staff are Indian, so, you know it is authentic. I've been there about half a dozen times -- I've liked everything I've had. A nice little touch is that meals include a desert of Indian fried dough in warm honey. The parking lot is WEIRD and only holds 6 cars in a strange configuration, so ---- park on the side street which has plenty of space. Service is a little amateur, but, I can live with that because it's obvious it is a small place and small staff, in a part of town that hasn't had an Indian restaurant before. Great service, atmosphere, and food! This place is a gem in Price Hill. Started with hot chai (called 'special tea' on the menu) which was wonderful. Then ordered a chicken tikka masala, lamb kadal ginger, and naan. Spice level 5 and 6 (out of 6) on the entrees. We didn't think the food was all that spicy but then our waitress brought out some jalapeño slices - that definitely made it much spicier :) Everything tasted great. The fresh naan was perfect. Our waters were refilled throughout the meal and service was consistently friendly/attentive. Finally, we were given complimentary gulab jamin for dessert. Sweet and delicious! read more

I don't know why there are so many 5 star reviews. I was excited to try this place and came during lunch time. The buffet was bland and the bathrooms were out of soap. There was a small bottle of hand soap that had an inch of "water" in the bottom. Lid secured. Come on guys keep the place clean. Spicy level was about a 1 on everything and the girl working the front sitting down rolling silverware never offered to clear off my dirty plate, so I only ate one plate. So glad we finally tried Mayas!! We both got the tikka masala but it was delicious. We've tried Indian restaurants all over the city looking for the best tikka Masala and this hit the mark! It did not disappoint us. The parking is right behind the small shop and while limited lot spots, there's ample street parking. The service was quick and they were super nice. My only disappointment was that the place we usually go to gives us rice to go if we have a lot of leftovers, which we did, but they only brought us one tray of rice for two people, so we had to make rice at home for our leftovers. However, we didn't ask, so they might do it if you ask. Otherwise, I highly recommend! read more

We've enjoyed a number of meals from Maya's dine-in, carryout, and even got delivery during a recent snowstorm! The food has always been delicious across a mix of different items - from the standard tikka masala, to paneer chili, to saag kofta, and of course the best naan we've had in town. On our most recent visit we were the only table but then suddenly the place filled up and the lone waitress was super busy - however she was always checking in and filled our requests with haste. She certainly earned our tip and our thanks for her great service. Maya's is one of the few places our entire family of 4 can easily agree on. We will certainly be back soon. read more

Without question, the best Indian food I've ever had. I had the chicken makhani and it was very rich and incredibly flavorful. The depth of flavor was something I haven't experienced in Indian food in many years. The dish was thick and creamy and elegantly silky. It was also perfectly spiced with just the right amount of heat. Just fantastic. The paneer and vegetable pakora, raita and poori were also all top notch. Everything seemed to be prepared with skill and care. It tasted like the chefs that work there take pride in what they do. The restaurant was immaculately clean and inviting and the service was kind, generous and attentive. Overall, a wonderful experience. We're really looking forward to going back. The only reason I'm giving one star is because the one item out of three that I ordered was delicious. I ordered through DoorDash tonight and when I opened the bag everything was packaged in just foil and thrown together. The mixed appetizer that I ordered was soggy and disgusting... all the appetizers were soggy and the Naan was supposed to be stuffed with cheese....no cheese. This is really, really good and hands down one of the best places to eat on the west side! Today my family and I ordered takeout for lunch and we weren't disappointed at all. We were hoping for "decent" Indian food. They handily exceeded our expectations. I ordered the Chicken Curry. It was the most flavorful I've had outside of London (UK). The Naan was really good too. All food was very hot when I picked it up and stayed that way driving home. The guys working there seemed very nice and they were ready for me to pick up on arrival. Served amazing food. Bengan ka bharta is absolutely mind blowing. We also tried chicken makhani and chhole bhature. All were exceptionally good. We tried garlic naan and it was probably the softest naan i have ever had even in india. For Indians ill suggest eating all the vegetables with spice level 6 or higher if they can handle. For others go with spice level 4 or 5. Server was really humble and accommodating. What a pleasant surprise to find Maya in our own neighborhood. It was lovely! We have only had carry out and we can't rave enough about the tasty, warm Indian food. Our go to orders are chicken curry and chicken saag. They have spice levels 1-6 we usually get a 3 and kick it up for our own plates so the kiddos still enjoy. It could handle a bit more spice but it's still super yummy. The pieces of chicken are huge! We usually end up cutting them into three to four more pieces. The naan is great too. We enjoyed the garlic naan over the onion naan. It may have just been a bit so good onion naan. But it won't keep us away. I'm a little puzzled by all the 5-star reviews of this place. When I saw that it was the Yelp favorite for Cincinnati, I decided to give it a try. I had Special Tea (a chai), the Mixed Platter (pakoras/samosas) and the Paneer Tikka. The chai was about average, the pakoras were about average, the paneer tasted fresh/homemade, the bell peppers in the Tikka were obviously fresh. Portions were larger than most of their competitors -- 3 chicken pakora instead of the 1 I've most often gotten, for instance, and at least 3 cups of rice, and I ended up bringing home nearly 3/4 of my tikka. But 5 stars? Maybe within its category of 'inexpensive big-portions Indian' the food is above average, but even within that category it's a major stretch to say 'Woohoo! As good as it gets!' Service was friendly and helpful, though at one point there was a loud/excited conversation (argument?) between two of the staff that started in the dining room, eventually moved into the hallway beyond, and finally must have ended or gone behind a door. My entree took a very long time to arrive (~45 minutes) but that may have been because I arrived soon after opening and there was still prep to do? When the waiter asked for my preferred spice level on a 1-6 scale and I said 5, she commented that was very spicy. I like spicy food, but I told her to add Raita to my order, just in case. The level 5 was very mild; I would have assumed it was a level 2 at most other local places. I heard a couple at another booth ask for something to spice theirs up. I wouldn't normally comment on the decor of a small independent restaurant that is probably trying to do its best within a limited budget, but the reviews praising the decor/atmosphere are just a joke. There's really no way to describe it other than 'downscale.' The only lighting is from overhead can lights that don't do people or food any favors. The drop ceiling has seen better days. The room setup is awkward at best; it has the feel of a place that does most of its business carryout. The room is small and the door opens directly in from the street, so every time someone came in or went out there was a draft. I sat next to a window and it was definitely chilly on a rainy 55-degree day. Nothing to complain about, plenty of small independent restaurants without big-money investors start out this way, but I don't understand how anyone could think the atmosphere is a selling point worthy of comment. Maybe if I lived on the west side I'd be so thrilled to have reasonably good Indian food nearby -- especially a place that delivers -- that I'd give a 5-star rating just to make sure this place succeeds? Probably. It certainly isn't something I'd drive 20 minutes to get. If I were in the area and it was lunch time, I'd drop in again, but the reviewers saying it would be worth 30 minutes in traffic or that if you're 'anywhere in Ohio, you're missing out' if you don't come to this place are just smoking something. We have had several preferred Indian restaurants around Cincinnati over the years, but this is our new go-to for SO many reasons! First, it is on the west side of town, less than 2 miles from our house. Second, the service is prompt, friendly, and willing to have some fun. I enjoy having servers surprise me (given certain parameters) and both times I have been here our server, Jerry, has played along. (Not all servers are comfortable with the game.) Stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night. We ordered some vegetable samosas to start the meal. The chutney that came with it was delicious and very flavorful. We then had chicken tikka masala and kadal ginger chicken (an absolute must for ginger fans) and garlic naan to go with it. All of it was wonderfully prepared and very flavorful. The service was top notch. Overall a delightful meal that is walking distance from our house. A great addition to the West Side and West Price Hill in particular.
