I really wanted to like this place. The website makes the food look affordable and appealing, and I had been looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, my experience never got to the point of actually ordering food. Multiple websites indicated the restaurant opened an hour earlier than it actually did, so I waited around expecting to be able to go inside and eat. When the doors finally opened, I was told there was no air conditioning and that staff were unable to take orders because they couldn't open the register. At that point, we were told it would be at least another hour before service would begin. I was with a large party, including two kids, and we couldn't wait that long on a Sunday morning of May 31. To make matters more frustrating, several other potential customers stopped by during this time only to be turned away. There seemed to be a lot of confusion and no clear communication about whether the business was actually open or able to operate, and the staff who did interact with us didn't seem very engaged in helping. I understand that technical issues and maintenance problems can happen, but as a first impression, this was disappointing. Based on this experience, I'm not sure I would make the effort to return to this location. The menu and pricing still look promising, and I would genuinely like to try the food someday, but it would likely be at a different location. read more

It had been quite a while since I'd even thought about coming in here. But, when #SuperHubs mentioned it, I knew I had to come back. And, happily, it hasn't changed much. As we entered, we were greeted very warmly and directed to grab a seat anywhere. There was a giant bottle of hand sanitizer along the edge of the bar that we made good use of. And, I noticed, as we walked past several empty booths, they has removed a few of the tables (as seen in pic), assisting on social distancing. Menus were already the table, and we were given cups of water as soon as we sat down. The waitress behind the bar took our order while preparing someone else's food, which I didn't mind at all. If she can multitask and get our order right, more power to her! FYI, she did! The place is, of course, very small, but clean and sanitized. Staff is friendly and masked for our protection. I visited Mayberry this evening on 6/30/2024 and ordered a banana split only to be told by the young lady that Mayberry "doesn't carry bananas"; I stated "never" and she stated "never"! !!! My suggestion is to either retrain this young lady on the ingredients used to make the items stated on your menu or perhaps she needs to find more suitable employment !!! She can simply look at the front window of your establishment and see that banana splits are offered so one would assume that you do carry bananas at some point in time !!! This is the sole remaining Mayberry's in Greensbooro - at one time there were three or four. There is one in Winston, and one in Burlington, and there may be one in Reidsville. This "chain" of ice cream/sandwich places grew out of the long gone Guilford Dairy in Greensboro. It was on West Market, next to the also long gone Boar & Castle. This little place is in a busy strip center at Summit & E. Bessemer. It still serves decent sandwiches - Turkey, Grilled Cheese, Tune, Chicken Salad, etc. There are 2 hot dogs available - a regular at $1.59, and a 1/4 pounder for about a buck more. Not bad dogs, though the chili is mild and a little thin. They still dip ice cream out of the large cardboard containers, and it's still good. The service is generally good, but it slows some when crowded. read more

We all must pray for Greensboro residents' taste buds. They still think Sheetz, Cookout and Stamey's have the BEST hot dogs when Mayberry's have been making the BEST ones for YEARS now. I grew up in Burlington and enjoyed them at the Mayberry's there for years and then enjoyed them here in Greensboro when I moved here in 1987. Praying daily everyone will see the light. We wanted dessert after dinner. We read reviews and thought it would be ok. Wow, we were surprised when we got treated like pond scum. The manager on Duty and thin woman with shades of red woven in her hair was rude and disrespectful. We unknowingly grabbed a large styrofoam bowl for our son so he did not make a mess with his ice cream. The manager rudely exclaimed DON'T TOUCH TO BOWLS! We apologize and she continued her disrespectful ranting. We try to do business with local businesses but this place is out. Love the ice cream, best in town hands down ! Customer service sucks !! This place is so inconsistent!!!! One day you get great service, the next day makes you not want to return! I ordered 1 scoop of ice cream and she literally gave me 1 scoop of ice cream. Usually 1 scoop is really 2 scoops, and 2 scoops is really 3! The waitress did not smile not once. They all looked like they were ready to leave. I even told her that the scoops are never that small, she ignored me! Go in the morning, you will probably get the right service ! I feel cheated ! If you're looking for good comfort food, you'll find it here. The place was very clean and the service was fast. Dine-in is available, with social distancing in place. As good as the food (hot dogs) and the ice cream (banana split & hot fudge sundae) were, they paled in comparison to the welcoming energy and beautiful spirits of Miss Carolyn and Jasmine. They made our experience even more enjoyable. Jasmine was fun, friendly and went above and beyond, to be extra helpful. She's a wonderful young woman. Miss Carolyn was busy working but that didn't stop her from smiling and laughing, while still taking good care of everyone. I felt like I was having dinner at her home. She's going to make sure she does everything in her power, to make sure you're happy. She is a formidable woman who puts caring for her customers, first. We will be back, soon. read more

I've always enjoyed going to Mayberry's, having a scoop of ice cream and talking with the employees that work there. a few of those ladies are just as sweet as can be. But on today 06/09/15, we went to Mayberry's as usual, found a nice booth in the back and sat down. I did notice none of the "regular" employees we've grown to know we're working this afternoon. we sat there for 14 minutes without one person talking our drink or food order, they didn't even acknowledge that we were there. I was born and raised in Greensboro and remember the old Guilford Dairy with Mr, Nelson wearing his white hat :) I went as a child and always have LOVED their bananna splits. They are the BEST IN THE WORLD. Grilled cheese is great too. The staff has changed over the years which goes without saying and yes, sometimes the service is slow if they are crowded but always pleasant and friendly. I hope this shop NEVER closes - at least as long as I'm around - it is a landmark and full of wonderful memories! read more
