I don't typically write bad reviews; if I have a problem, I try to solve it with the company. However, when we rent a van and apparently get a tiny chip on the windshield (we were not aware of when it happened), I will not sit quietly when we're told that it's going to cost US $700 to fix that! Seven hundred dollars is an absolutely absurd price, and there has to be a better way of dealing with that. Companies like Safelite exist for these exact moments--tiny chips can be fixed up and not be an issue any longer. There is not a NEED to go through the dealership and get an entire new, special windshield put in and charge a family $700. Especially for something that isn't caused by neglect or recklesness. There is no way to prevent an accident like a rock, and no need to charge SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS to fix that. Absurd. read more

Don't rent from this place! They are a complete rip off! I rented a brand new truck from them one night and returned the vehicle 5 days later on a day they were closed. The vehicle was dropped off at night and keys placed in mail slot since they were closed. No damage was done to the truck. I called the next day to confirm they received the car and processed the paperwork. The clerk stated there's dents on the top of truck. The truck is a Suburban and I could not see the top of the truck. I trusted the clerk who jumped up to see if there was damage. He said none! I was looking to rent a car in Milwaukee and Mayfair Rent-A-Car had the best pricing for a rental around the airport. They have shuttle that picks you and will drop you off. The people working at that location were friendly and professional. I ran into an issue on the return where the person checking the car found the smallest of dings on the driver door. I never noticed it on check out nor did the person looking with me and we inspected it pretty thorough. I explained that I know I did not do it and the girl went back through previous renters and found the ding recorded. I suggest that if they have things recorded, why don't they use that as a baseline for future renters. It would save getting the customer upset and aid in the checking in and out of the cars. Even though the price was lower than the on-site at the airport car rental companies, it took way longer to actually get the car. One thing I didn't like at all was that the gas tank was not full. It had a little less than half a tank left in the car and it was explained to me that since they didn't have a gas pump on the premises, you got what you got. The reason I don't like that is because you have to return the car with the same amount of fuel in it that was there when you picked it up. Do you know how hard that is to gage when filling it up? Much easier just to fill the tank all the way up...it automatically shuts off when it is full, plus I had to find a gas station before I left for my trip to Minneapolis to fill up...delaying the start to my trip. When I brought the car back, there was no place to park the car, so I had to pull into a handicapped parking spot. There should be open spots just for the return of rental cars. read more

Reserved a mid-sized vehicle for a five-day rental and conducted the usual walk around... no damage to the body work on any of the sides or quarter panels - good to go! During the rental period didn't park under anything, didn't hit anything, and returned the vehicle with the appropriate amount of fuel in the tank (tank wasn't full when we picked it up). Upon return, the agent spotted a single small dimple on the roof of the car which I wouldn't have seen hadn't someone pointed it out to me. Now standing at the counter waiting on a "repair" estimate. $854.04 later... we'll, let's just say very displeased. If you rent from this company, inspect EVERY inch of the vehicle... wheels, cup holders, and especially the roof, especially if you are picking up a 2017 white Kia Optima. read more

Wow! Unbelievable. not only does this rental car service leave my husband and his brother stranded at the airport with no shuttle to the rental car, but they overcharge from what the reservation was. They also take an additional $100 deposit, which they don't want to refund. Not only that, but they lied and told me that my husband returned the car a day too late--which was impossible as he had arrived back home from his trip on the scheduled date that he returned the car. There is absolutely no apologies to the insulted customers for their error. Candace is a rude and obnoxious customer service person. Never never never again will we rent from this company. read more

Went to pickup a rental tonight and it was straight out of Sinefeld. They know how to take the reservation but they don't know how to keep the reservation. So no car for us. This all started with a backordered ford part that has been ongoing for four months. No horn no cruise anything on the steering wheel doesn't work. What happened to the days when a dealer would take the part out of another car to keep a customer happy I'm not happy with Ewald Ford and Mafair rental. read more

Got my rental car booked during my business trip. Their service was awesome and much better than the fancy Hertz. Although they are not located inside the airport like others but still their srvice and condition of cars are much better. I had booked an economy car but got a mid size clean car without even asking for upgrade. Will definitely go with them during my future trips. read more

Waited with 85 yr old mother outside in 50 degree weather for 90 minutes for a van driver to get us from the airport. It took multiple calls - each time being told "just 10 minutes" - even had the driver pick up someone else and drive away before we could board. Although the staff was apologetic and friendly, I would not use Mayfair again. read more

Oh so feel the need to reply to the smooth explanation given by the manager. We rearranged our plans to accommodate the rental company in locating us a rental. The schedule snafu was NOT on our part in any way, shape or form! How about a polite phone call?? Never happened! good rate, the gals at the counter were over the top friendly. There are a couple things that could be improved....I rented with ACE and it was difficult to find that name on the building. Then suddenly I remembered seeing Mayfair somewhere on the agreement...that was confusing. Since the office is inside a car dealership, you cannot pickup a car after business hrs. I ended up going back the next morning to pickup car, since it saved me $150 to rent from them. They even called me twice, which is unheard of with the big companies. read more

I rented a 15 passenger van from these guys and was charged over $200 for a new tire after they said I returned it with a screw in the tread. A tire plug costs $5...opportunists lying in wait. They also quoted me a price of $1,006 for the rental and charged me over $1100! I do business up there every year and will never call these guys again. read more

Reserved a Ford Expedition or similar. Was offered a Chevrolet Traverse at pickup. Not similar vehicles at all. I needed the extra storage space provided by a larger SUV for an out of town trip. A similar vehicle is supposed to be of similar size, not substantially smaller. Had to go elsewhere and was very late for my outing. read more

This was a terrible experience. I rented a van from this company. They are not located at the airport so you have to wait for ever for them to come pick you up and drive you to their place. The paperwork takes a very long time. The prices are not great considering their location. They are closed on Sundays when most people return cars, so you have to drop it off at a third location and get shuttled to the airport, and you have no say in whether or not the car was returned in the same condition it was rented because you have returned home by the time they inspect it. I got charged several hundred dollars for a dent I believe was not there when I left the car off. read more

beware of doing business with this company. i had the most disappointing experience and will never consider this car rental agency again. i arrived on time to pick up the rental and had to wait 15 minutes for someone to drive it around for me. this made no sense when i had made reservations already 3 weeks prior. from a customer stand point this vehicle should have been ready to go once the transaction was complete at he counter. during the walk through the attendant indicated that the "check engine" light was on and assured me that it was a result of the gas cap being loose and it should reset itself after so many miles. figuring that this person knew what they were talking about, i drove the rental vehicle 30 minutes back home. the "check engine" light remained on and i realized that after stopping and going at several lights, the car was making a very loud humming noise while in motion. once home, i called the company and requested for an exchange because frankly, i didn't feel safe driving my family 1000 miles out of state in a car with the "check engine" light flashing. unfortunately they where entirely out of that size rental and if i ran into any problems they offer "24 hour road side assistance". really? who wants to deal with that when you are thousands of miles from home and on vacation? they tried to make up for this by offering another rental but it was 45 minutes away. the rental was returned and there was no acknowledgment or apology from the manager on duty, dan. worse customer service experience ever. save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

Nothing about this experience was easy. I did not have the correct number to call for the shuttle from the airport. No information at the airport or at least I did not see it. I was the first one to arrive at the desk from the shuttle and the last one to leave with my car - many errors in the check-out process. The car was very dirty when it arrived. Upon return, I waited 20 minutes for someone to come to the desk. The phone receptionist at the dealership was too busy talking to her friend to remember to page the rental desk for me. I will say, the female rental agent that checked me out is very nice and hard working. read more

two stars is a little too harsh and three is a little too generous. anyway, I'm pretty happy with these guys except for two things (1) they're always trying to upsell me to get even more money which I find off-putting, and (2) they don't tell you before you make your (in my case non-refundable super saver) reservation that unless you have full coverage auto insurance, you can't refuse their daily insurance charge. in the case of my latest rental from them, it nearly doubled what I was expecting to pay. I think that is somewhat deceptive on their part. apart from that, they have nice cars and the process is painless. read more
