I would like to give this branch of Alamo a higher score, but I am basing this review on a recent experience, which had a number of stressful parts to it. I think that airport business can be stressful in and of itself, but I also think that the staff at airport car rental counters should be trained to be aware of this, and to go out of their way to be patient and understanding when dealing with a rental customer. I also think that they should provide clear information about the car one is about to drive away in, and should print out the rental agreement in total before asking the customer to sign. Such was not the case for us, and we only got to see the hard copy of the rental agreement when we got home to our printer, which turned out to be very important, and which included our purchase of a loss/damage waiver. The car we received was not the one we signed up for, similar but not as easy to get in and out of as the one we expected. Additionally, it was parked in a dark, remote garage, making it difficult to inspect before driving off. Still, we walked around the car and did not spot anything major. The car drove okay, we experienced nothing unusual, filled it with fuel and returned it. The young man who received us pointed out a "dent" in the left rear quarter panel, but we knew had not happened while we had the car, as it had no scratches or paint transfer, and we pointed that out. We also told the young man that we had a loss/damage waiver and he changed his tune, called somebody and we overheard the respondent say "rear quarter panel was already reported ". Nonetheless, it was concerning, and later we received a letter about potential liability, despite the fact that when we finally printed out our rental agreement, it was noted that there was the prior dent damage on the car BEFORE we drove it. Calls to the folks who process damage claims informed us that the case had been closed. All of this was enough to have us thinking long and hard about future rentals. For sure, we will always purchase the loss/damage waiver. read more

They don't like it when you reserve through Hotwire, but their rates are higher when you rent from them. Part of the Enterprise conglomerate, the airport office is in terminal and open earlier and later than any area branch offices. The lone desk worker was great. My car had windows dirty on the inside, I would rather have the outside of the be dirty than the inside. read more

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I received from Alamo Rent A Car Milwaukee. What should have been a simple and straightforward rental experience turned into one of the most frustrating and stressful situations I have ever encountered. The way this company handled my case was careless, unprofessional, and completely lacking in empathy. Because of this experience, I will be warning friends, family, and colleagues to avoid this company entirely. On the second day of my rental, I had an unfortunate accident involving a deer. While the accident itself was upsetting, the real ordeal began immediately after. I did everything I was supposed to do: I contacted the police, my insurance company, and the rental company's roadside assistance to report the incident and request support. I was told a tow truck would be sent, but after waiting alone in the cold for two hours late at night, no one ever arrived. During that call, the rental company reassured me that I didn't need to worry. They said the car would be picked up and that I should make my way to the branch to receive a replacement vehicle. Since I was approximately an hour away, I arranged a ride to get there. When I arrived, instead of a smooth process, I was informed that I would not be getting a replacement vehicle and that they couldn't even close my rental agreement because the damaged car wasn't yet in their lot. This was particularly frustrating because roadside assistance -- part of the same company -- had been the one to instruct me to go to the branch in the first place. Because of their disorganization and lack of responsibility, I missed my daughter's competition and had to pay an additional $500 out of pocket for a new rental over two days. To make matters worse, the branch manager, Sarah, didn't even come out to speak to me directly. She sent an employee named David, who only made things more aggravating by trying to charge me even more money. Meanwhile, the damaged car sat in a public parking area for two full days. The police, unlike the rental company, were helpful and reassuring, assuring me that the situation was under control and that Alamo should take care of it. The car was finally towed at 8 p.m. on Monday -- the night before my scheduled departure on Tuesday. Despite my countless calls and attempts to resolve the matter, it wasn't until Thursday that I was finally told I could close my bill. Only then did Sarah make an appearance. This entire ordeal made it painfully clear that customer service is not a priority for this branch. Their lack of communication, empathy, and accountability caused me significant emotional stress, financial burden, and personal loss. I left feeling not just disappointed, but disrespected. Asked if they could waive the $25/day young driver fee since I am not 25 yet and they refused. Wouldn't honor our Costco price and wanted to charge me an extra $50 for "taxes on fees". Great experience renting a car from Alamo at MKE Airport. We loved that you don't have to take a bus to the facility. It's just a short walk from baggage claim. We passed several other rental agencies and none had super long lines; but we were in an out in less than 10 minutes and the people we passed at the other counters when we walked in were still there when we walked out. I reserved a rental car at Milwaukee airport. I observed counter worker, Gayle wait on a white man and never asked him for a second piece of identification. I was confused when she asked me for a second piece of identification. I said, I did see you ask the gentleman in front of me for one. She said, well the RNC was here and there are a lot of bad people renting cars so we have required Milwaukee residents to provide a second ID. When I asked to see that in writing she said it was a new policy and wasn't in writing. I said how can you enforce something that is not in writing. She said here is my supervisor. Akira, was extremely rude saying loudly that either I can give another form of ID or she would run my driver's license through the DMV. I asked how long does that take. In a rude tone Akira said as long as it takes. My DOB, is 7/27 and my drivers license had expired on that date. I started to have my husband rent the car, but after the discriminatory treatment I received I canceled my reservation and chose to go elsewhere in the airport. The rental company we used never asked for any additional information and documents. When I called Alamo customer service and talked to Lisa, she was rude saying they make laws and policies every day, totally diminishing my complaint. After seeing how based on her comments and tone, she supported the racist acts and treatment of Gayle and Lisa, I chose to share my experience. calling Alamo's racist practices out call! I rented a car through Travelocity. After a couple of weeks we decided to stay an extra day. Travelocity could not add a day and told us to add a day when we picked up the car. The lady at the counter in MKE was very helpful. She gave me a price for the extra day and I added on a the price of a tank of gas so I wouldn't have to gas up in an area I wasn't familiar with. I drove the car to Fon du Lac (45 min to hotel) and back to the airport. I drove the car very little while in FDL. When I returned the car, everything checked out and I was told I was paid up to date. When I returned home, I saw that Alamo had charged me $100 more than the price quoted. They sent me the bill and there were so many little charges that I was never informed would be added. I will choose another rental company for my next trip. I have to say I was very pleased with Alamo! My usual company is Hertz but their rental rates in Milwaukee were ridiculous for graduation weekend. Alamo was much less but the mileage was capped at 750 for 5 days. Hmm. We were only going to be in Madison and the surrounding area so I took a chance. So glad I did - check in was smooth at MKE. The car was a clean and comfortable Chevy. And we came in 200 miles under the limit. I will definitely rent with them again! Simple, hassle-free, true to their word! Thanks Alamo! read more

Everything was good until I checked the car back in. I left my sunglasses in the cup holder. I realized it on my flight. I called as soon as I landed, and the lady at the MKE airport wouldn't help me at all. I asked her to ask the guy who checked in my car, and she said she wouldn't. She gave me the number to the Alamo location where they take the cars to wash them. I called as soon as they opened the next day, told the lady what happened and she didn't really want to help me either. Never got my sun glasses back. They were a gift that's why I cared. I know it was my fault, but for them to not even try was what made me write this. I will never use their service again. -David read more

I'm flying back to Wisconsin and booked a car from Alamo at MKE. I purchased my reservation on Kayak.com and it never said anything about a milage allotment. This was never specified until I had already paid and received my confirmation. I then find out that I'm only allowed 300 miles? There's 2 major airports in the entire state of Wisconsin??? It's a scam. I spoke with Don, the manager at the MKE location and he said he would rather lose my business then accommodate me with 100 complimentary miles so I can make my trip to the middle of WI. It's not like a rented a cheap car either - It's their premium car. At this point, I'm happy to share my story and take my business to a competitor. read more

When I picked my car up in Green Bay the counter person said there was no damage to the car so sign this Auto Condition card without as much as allowing the customer to inspect the car. Upon getting to my car I did an inspection and found severe damage to the quarter panel and returned the car for further inspection by Alamo. 1. My reservation was correct and the car was clean and well maintained 2. The attendant held my baby for 30 minutes while I struggled to install the rented car seat SUPER HELPFUL considering I was the last client of the night. 3. Both of the child seats they had were not properly threaded and there was no way to correctly install it. So I had to deduct a star. The attendant truly made my night, as a mom traveling alone with my 23 pound sleeping baby. Alamo just needs to make sure their car seats are safe and properly threaded for use. The lady inside was unhelpful, rolled her eyes at us & after 5 minutes at the desk, told us to just go to the kiosk. We were the only ones in the place. I have rented with Alamo/National for the past 10 years and have about 100 rentals under my belt with this company alone. The overwhelming majority of them positive, it seems I was due for my first negative experience. I arrived at Milwaukee's airport and went up to the Alamo/National counter. The young lady was very pleasant, and professional. She told me that my status allowed me to bypass the counter and go choose a vehicle. My family and I exited the counter area and started walking toward the cars upon which we were met with a young man. He, on the other hand, told us we couldn't go up to a car and had to follow him back to his booth. He then instructed us to choose any vehicle on the right side of the lot (which we complied with) and told us to return to him when we found a vehicle. When I walked back to him, he was on the phone shouting at someone for sending us back to find a vehicle without the necessary paperwork. I waited until he got off the phone whereby he instructed me I was limited to 450 miles for my entire rental period because my rate was too low. Nowhere on my reservation or quote did it mention this. When I mentioned that, he said each location can amend the reservations as they see fit. He also instructed me that I had to stop and pay at every toll because they don't allow for any other options. Again, never have I rented a vehicle with ANY company where I had to do that. My total reservation was 350 miles and I stopped and paid at every toll. I mentioned I was going to complain when I returned the vehicle and he just shrugged. I think the passive aggressive nature of your employee warrants additional training, and you need to update your website to include the fact that reservations are distance limited, and that some locations do not provide vehicles with automatic toll stickers. I booked a car for my husband tonight flying in from PHX with a one way rental to Green Bay. His aunt died unexpectedly so he was grief stricken. Your agent at the booth was extremely rude and would not take his debit card. He certainly has credit cards but didn't pack them because of the situation. The services are tomorrow and he was stranded due to a "debit card policy". Now I fly in and use Alamo all the time at MKE- often using a debit card with no questions about return flights. This was a one way from MKE to GRB and now Alamo required a credit card or a return flight. His poor parents are now driving from Green Bay to pick him up which means that grieving family will get no sleep when they bury their loved one tomorrow. I feel terrible but share this blame with you for not clarifying on your reservation page your policy. I do not know why a simple programming change on your end could have saved this situation from ever happening. Worse, your agent was terribly rude. Why do you hire people like that? My husband did not need that. He was tired and upset already yet was extremely kind to your agent (I was on the phone) and your agent was a total jerk, offering no assistance, referrals to buses, other car rentals, a shuttle, bus, nothing... If there was another solution, the inconvenience would have been greatly reduced. However, your agent was anxious to close at 12:11 - which he did before the 12:30 a.m. close time. Good companies hire good people. Sarah was very helpful when I had to find a car at the last minute for my husband to rent. They are also the only one open past midnight. My little girl came down with a high fever and the airport is an hour from home. I was thrilled to find someone helpful with an hour to spare! I rented a Chevy Malibu at this location and was planning to drive to and back from Miami. The car broke down in Miami and had to call roadside assistance. When I did this, customer service instructed me to drop off the car in the nearest Alamo location in Miami airport. I asked if I was gonna be billed or penalized for that, they told me NO because the car had a mechanical issue. I asked twice because I didn't wanna be "surprised" with any further charges in my cc. 2 weeks later they charge me with $1035!! I have a reference number telling me to drop off the car with any fee and this last month has been a nightmare contacting the branch and customer service trying to get this resolved. Which is not. Even if I had to pay a fee for returning a car in other city why it has to be $1035.01!!! I can buy a car with that! This review is also going to the BBB. Stay away from Alamo and its sharkening policies, abusive behavior toward their customers and unauthorized credit card charges!! read more
