My cat passed away this past month but fortunately i came to the right place for the care that he needed. It was a heartbreaking decision, but after he had a surgery, he just wasn't going to make it. For reference my dog was vomiting on and off and had not had any stool sample or other testing done. The quote for X-Rays and blood work was $870. She never touched my dog. But somehow thought he needed X-Rays. Needles to say I found another vet. read more

They were the only place I could find for a weekend visit. My regular vet was closed and I needed someone to examine an open sore on my dog. I was glad someone was open. $600+ later, my dog still had the same exposed sore. The treatment they prescribed cost $3.95 per pill x 68 pills? Holy cow. Who prescribes that many expensive pills without knowing that they work? They ran comprehensive blood tests ($245) even though my dog had perfect blood test results 6 weeks prior and nothing to indicate poor health. I said it was OK to do minimal testing for specific suspected causes, not a full workup. They charge $59.95 per office visit with a $4.99 waste fee, which is less than my regular vet who charges $79 + $7.00 waste fee, but they more than make up for it with other expenses. In terms of positives, I got in quickly (no one else was there). The assistant and the vet were kind and gentle with my dog, I got access when no one else was open, and I was no longer worried about my dog. read more

Months later, a whole year, I never got a response or follow up on these x-rays or lab results. Do not support this practice. Still thinking about how this place scammed me of $670 for a check up and lab results I never got back. I'm not sure who to blame here, "Doctor" Innamuri, or their support staff. My family members brought their 11-year-old dog in because they were concerned with her acute decline (inappetence, lethargy, shivering, and vomiting.) This doctor didn't even do the bare minimum of diagnostics. They performed a CBC, Chem17, and fecal. They gave famotidine, cerenia, prescribed clavamox and denamarin for her elevated ALT, markedly elevated ALP, neutrophilia, lymphopenia, and monocytosis. She was then sent home. When the office called the next day to ask how she was doing and they were told she is still lethargic, inappetent, and shivering, they said "just let us know if she vomits again or still doesn't eat anything tomorrow." Thankfully I have enough knowledge of veterinary medicine to tell them that this is not a "wait and see" kind of situation, and the casual dismissal of this case is complete negligence. Thankfully, they listened to me and took her to a doctor that could actually help, at Blue Pearl. She was found to have a hemoabdomen and her condition was too severe for supportive or invasive measures. She was able to pass peacefully, without a traumatic ending for her family to witness. The complete lack of care from the team here is unacceptable to say the least. They charged $800 to do absolutely nothing for this poor dog. While I understand that urgent care and general practice veterinarians and their support staff are not always knowledgeable about these critical cases, it is important to refer out when you are CLEARLY out of your depth. read more

Maynard animal hospital is more like a veterinary school. You will see students and young graduates and other Vets present are inexperienced and not specialists. You will never see the same veterinarian twice. They also forgot a few vaccines/deworming and I had to drive back to them after I went through the invoice. Happened at least three times and they never apologized for their mistake. My pet has been misdiagnosed several times and finally passed away due to an infection. Even the blood work results were not very conclusive and maybe was not done correctly. As she was screaming in pain at the table there was a group of students/trainees just watching her like a TV sitcom. Dr. Joy was very slow to react and gave a pain killer much later. He did not do anything as soon as he learnt from the ultrasound report that my dogs gallbladder was extremely enlarged. You leave things in your Vets hands to take care of them or at least keep them comfortable and that did not happen that is unfair to my dog. If it's your lucky day the front desk lady will be nice. Want to mention that the front office lady laughed in the voice mail she left for me asking me to collect my pets ashes bcoz she didn't know how to say my pets name. How insensitive and silly. Ive also been to their branch in Walnut street and the owner will charge you for everything. First he will act as though he is doing a favor for you by showing you how to put eye drops for your pet and in the end he would add $25 just for that demo. And medications are very very expensive compared to chewy.com. read more

This place is predatory. We called them to make an appointment - our dog clearly had a bad UTI. My elderly mother in law took him in and they did a urinalysis AND blood work even though that is more than is necessary for a diagnosis. Then they charged us $110 for PENICILLIN. I am really upset by our experience here. They did more than they need to to make money and took an advantage of an older woman. Disgusting. read more

Glad I found out about this new location! My dog was seen by Dr. Saladino, who was so friendly - as was all the office staff that I encountered there. They were all very helpful, including when I had questions the day after my dog's surgery. I appreciated that they were patient when my pooch knocked over their light display... and when a staff member helped me bring my dog out to the car and get her into it when I was taking her home. The thing I liked most about this visit was that everyone wore masks in the office and that we could go into the office instead of curbside service. It was nice to see the vet and have a conversation about my dog's needs. Extra note: Be sure to check their website, they have some great coupons that I found there. read more

We've been taking our dogs to Walnut St animal hospital which now also is owned by the same owners/company as Maynard. They share all of our dogs medical information so we started going to Maynard since they're closer. The vets and some administrators work at both locations. About 10 days ago I took my dog in for an eye problem. The vet wanted to do all sorts of tests but I'm onto their upsell tactics so I asked for only absolutely necessary diagnostics and to please list the exact fees for each item because on more than one occasion we've been quoted one amount and in actuality the fee was hundreds more. This happened before where they called for us to pick up our dog after some teeth cleaning and extraction and quoted 444.00 when my husband got there the fee was magically over 700.00. No explanation, the front desk girl that I had on speaker phone when she quoted 444.00 said she did not say that. My husband was a witness to what she said. I wanted to speak to whoever was in charge but no one was available and I never received a call back. This time the vet told us to give her medication and bring her back in a week or so for follow up to check on her improvement. I called for an appointment and asked the girl twice will there be no charge for this since the vet asked ME to bring her back and its just a follow up. The girl said no charge. My husband took our dog in for the vet to look at it, we thought she was improving but the vet put drops in her eye to scan it and said she needed different medication. They charged for office visit, eye exam and drops. All totaled 141.00. I was livid. I called and complained that we were told there would be no charge and the next day a manager called me back and refunded the office visit amount of 43.00. Be aware that there are some vets that only care about the animals and there are some vets that are probably instructed by corporate to upsell for whatever they can. The resolution was not perfect for this issue but the manager said she would talk to the person that said there wouldn't be a charge and to ensure they check before quoting anything to a pet owner. read more

This "hospital" was necessary, as my Mom's sweet cat needed attention one night that her vet wasn't open. They literally & unnecessary took off half of the poor cat's face...for an ear infection. They said his ear had to be removed, following what they did. It looked like they took an ice cream scoop & took a deep lunge into the left side of his face. My Mom was so broken up that she asked me to drive over to help her take care of this poor kitty. When her regular vet was available the next day, not only did they say that Maynard Animal Hospital did far more damage than help, but now he had to be put to sleep because of the work this "hospital" did. My Mom wasn't able to go to watch this sweet baby be put to sleep. So, I volunteered for my Mom, and the baby died in my arms. All of this could have been avoided by Maynard Animal Hospital taking even taking the cat's bloodwork, which they did not do before removing half of the cat's face. This clinic killed a cat...one of the sweetest cats in the world. They didn't even consult with my Mom before slicing away his face. Maybe she won't stand up for him because she is still in moending, but I sure as hell will. That sweet, innocent baby boy passed away in my arms. read more

On November 6 my daughters told me that the cat was limping on his left hind leg and lying under the kitchen table. So I went to check him out. I felt on his leg and noticed what felt like 2 scabs on his knee. He also didn't like me touching his leg below the knee. Our usual vets office was closed. So I called around. Maynard could see him when their urgent care office opened at 7pm. However, my wife told me to take him their immediately. They said that they would try to fit him in. So I left him their until they could see him. Late in the afternoon they called and asked if they could X-ray his leg. I said sure, that sounds reasonable enough. Later I went to get my cat and they said they gave him a pain shot, gave me pain meds to give him and said that he had chronic tendinitis and may need a vet orthopedist if it doesn't get better. The next day, the cat was not himself. He seamed worse, having licking his now visible wounds that looked abscesses. Also, he's not moving around. He's not trying to escape over the fenced enclosure, which he could easily have done if he was himself. So my wife took him to our usual vet who treated him with antibiotics for a snake bite. I believe that the vet at Maynard didn't even look at the cats leg. However the cat can't tell me what happened. Nevertheless, the cat has recovered from his ordeal and appears to be back to his old self. My cat was suffering and Maynard did treat the pain and that is why I gave them two stars. Had they done a simple exam, which I doubt they did, they would have found the scabs that I felt, and the cat would have recovered sooner. Any vet worth their salt would have been suspicious for a snake bite finding those scabs and would've treated the cat accordingly. read more

I recently had to go through what no cat mom wants to go through and had my cat euthanized at Maynard. She had first seen Dr. Saladino for breathing difficulties - her regular vet was Chatham Animal Hospital, and I like them just fine, I just wanted a second opinion. She recommended x-rays, which I scheduled for the following week. The day before her scheduled appointment, she began gasping on Sunday night around 9pm or so. I brought her in and she was seen by their night vet - I'm sorry, I don't recall her name as things went so fast. I'm still too exhausted by the whole thing to explain it all - but I'll say their vet was in-depth with kitty's x-ray, possible interpretations, and potential treatments. I decided to go with through the extra charge of having the x-rays sent to a radiologist since it wasn't a cut and dry case. Even though it was about 11pm, she assured me they would have the results back in about an hour and I could go home. Before leaving, she made a plan with me about whether to revive my poor old girl should her heart stop, her recommendations, and what to expect. She was again, very thorough. They called me well after midnight. What happened was that the radiologist stopped accepting x-rays at 11pm unbeknownst to her, so she didn't charge me for sending them out. She ended up reaching out to "anyone [she] thought would be up" and researching before coming to her conclusion about what was wrong with my kitty, potential treatment, and chances of it working. She even read studies about her condition and treatments! At 2am! In the end, I decided euthanasia was the best, most humane decision, and the doctor encouraged me to go in that direction. My concern up until that point was putting her to sleep before exhausting all possible options. The vet made me feel comfortable that we did. she was incredibly thorough, supportive, kind, and patiently explained everything to me, sometimes several times, and by this point it was 3am! She said repeatedly, "I love my job and I hate this part of it." read more

Maynard has been my puppy's vet for about 3 months or so now. He went originally for regular checkups but about 3 weeks ago he was attacked by two large dogs and was in critical condition. After taking him to another vet hospital, I took him back to his usual vet and they saw how severe his wounds were and how costly it had all been. He really had very little hope of even surging in the beginning. We had decided to take his leg one day and when he went into surgery his vitals were not where they needed to be for surgery. Dr. K offered to take Knox in until he was ready for surgery... as time went on he realized that the leg could possibly be saved. Today, I brought my pup home and he is almost back to his normal self and I couldn't be more thankful for what this hospital did for my dog! Having had an absolutely awful experience with another vet which left our cat on her death bed, I followed the recommendation of a friend to get her to Maynard. We couldn't be happier! Dr. Saladino took time to listen to us, explain what she initially saw, and tell us she didn't want our cat to get hurt while she did a thorough exam (not just petting her like our old vet did) -- could she lightly sedate her? When she found something worrisome, she immediately had us go back to see our baby and brought us into the care process. Our cat began to wake up while we were there, so Dr. Saladino and Rob, the most amazing tech, stepped back and let us be there for our girl while she woke up. They were thorough, communicative, caring, and so so loving. When answers were not easily available, they took everything to the next level without hesitation. Even though some things showed which *might* later call for meds, they didn't push meds on us until we had answers (and even then, didn't push meds!) This is so contrary to what we have experienced elsewhere. The genuine love and care shown by the whole team and Maynard calmed our own anxieties, and I know they calmed our baby girl. They are even helping us navigate future care in a way that doesn't break the bank and keeps our cat comfortable and healthy. I cannot recommend this vet enough. PLEASE do not cave and go see the chain vets run by pharmacists and strict plans - come to Maynard instead for someone who will treat your pet as their own and help you to give them all the care they need! (and the two mouse toys they gave her are now favorites in our house!) read more

We have had the best experience with Maynard Animal Hospital and specifically Dr. Saladino. We drive 35+ minutes to get to this location, as we were referred to see her from our cat sitter; it is completely worth the drive. Dr. Saladino is so knowledgeable and believed us when we knew that there was something wrong with our kitten, when another vet at a different practice completely wrote off our concerns. She was able to figure out what was wrong with our cat and was able to address the issue, as she knew there WAS, in fact, something wrong. The practice is very affordable in comparison to other surrounding vets and we are so pleased with the care that our cat has gotten. We will be transferring our other 4 cats to this office, as I have been very impressed by the care our cat has gotten and the customer service we have received. read more

We recently took our 10 year old Sheltie to Dr. Para for an abscess on her foot. The team members were all congenial and thorough and Dr. Para did a great job on her surgery. Their fees were quite reasonable and well worth the quality of service we received. We've been back twice already for healing checks and they didn't charge additional for those visits. First time here, unfortunately I was there for a pet emergency. Maddie was very comforting the second we got in, was very patient with my pup who gets nervous at the vet, and she listened to all of my concerns, questions- and gave me very straight forward answers for everything. She was also very knowledgeable and was able to explain my bill perfectly, which I've found can be a hassle with vets these days. Thank you Maddie for making this experience so easy for us in such a scary time for me and my pup! If i could give this place a 0 star rating I WOULD. I took my kitten in for her surgery to be spayed and all was well. Everyone was super nice and told us they had no concerns about the surgery because it went so well. After leaving the vet i had a look at the incision myself and knew immediately something looked off. Two days later my kitten started having puss and an odor coming from the incision site. I proceeded to call the clinic and ask about it. The woman working from desk asked me to send a picture to their email so that the vet that operated on her could take a look without us having to come in. The vet then called me back and said that she wasn't worried about it at all because it looked like a small common infection that we shouldn't worry about and asked me to bring her in the next day for antibiotics for her to take twice daily. Since then my cat has been taking her medication as suggested, she has been wearing her cone, staying calm, and doing everything the vet recommended for her to heal properly. HOWEVER, i noticed today, 8 days after the surgery that the site was BLACK and STILL had puss coming out. So of course i called... the woman who picked up the phone cut me off and told me she was going to put me on hold and proceeded to hang up on me because she felt it wasn't urgent. I then called back and a different person answered and I told her the entire situation to which she responded " we believe your cat has necrosis." and told me they couldn't do anything about it there and told me to call a different place. I did and they confirmed that it was a BOTCHED SURGERY. read more

I've never done a negative review online before but this clinic has done literally everything I asked them not too, it does not care about our animals and i don't want others to put their trust in them. My male dog (which they have to this day still called a female even when on record he is a male even after 10+ visits) had heartworms and they told me there were two different options a slow kill and fast kill. I opted for the slow kill. It was written in my documents and then i got a vet bill for over $1000 for the first appointment (there were 3) After my dog was wrongfully administered the medication they said that if I didn't continue the treatments not only would i have to pay the $1000 for the initial visit but it would be ineffective and could possibly harm my dog by trying the slow kill. When i specifically told them for the slow kill and was obviously upset that they had done the exact opposite of what i requested the receptionist responded with "you are right it is on written record that you have the slow kill option". Afterwards it was almost like pulling teeth to get them to follow what i wanted. I would ask them to do a stool sample because my dog was eating grass and they would call back with different tests to take and would skirt around the issue until i had to ask them point blank for the information i was seeking. From that point on i noticed that 8 out of the 10 of the visits to this vet office people were leaving angry and misunderstood. The Techs don't talk to the Vets and the Front desk is organized chaos ALL THE TIME. Not just a one time thing. Again, i am not one to complain but they went above and beyond interpreting the exact opposite of everything i asked. I do NOT trust these people with your pets safety they don't care or pay attention. read more

This is the worst animal clinic. The receptionist know nothing. They first quoted me $268 for an emergency sedated laceration repair. Then I was quoted $500. Then at check out, which took longer than the procedure, I was asked to pay $775. I was asked to bring my dog back a few days later for a bandage change and for the doctor to check healing. She said there would be no charge. I went twice on the day requested and there was no doctor. My friend tried again two days later and got a $60 bill. The receptionist still can't answer any questions and is of new help. The doctor couldn't seem to focus on any one thing and seems to have no support staff and the only one to answer questions, create bills and do the medical stuff. This is not a well run business at all. I will drive the extra distance in the future even if another emergency arises. This was such a horrible experience. read more
