The guys at Hope Valley 66 auto repair shop always contact you within a timely basis to give you a reasonable estimate on any repairs that you may need. They will not suggest unnecessary repairs and will not try to overcharge you on service. Getting oil changes and inspections here is a breeze, I never have to wait very long, especially if I arrive in the morning on a weekend. If you need a more complex maintenance service or repair performed, generally you need to bring in your vehicle on a weekday for the mechanic to perform diagnostics. Whenever I have had to drop off my car for such a service, I will receive a call within a few hours after diagnostics are complete, with an estimate to approve of the repair. Usually, the repair (brake work for example) is complete by the end of the day. On occasion, a repair might take longer than that due to waiting on a part to arrive or some other factor but rarely do I have to wait more than a day or so. Be aware that this is an independent shop, not part of a large dealership chain or something, so the waiting area is fairly small and spartan. I believe there is free Wi-Fi available but have not had to use it for any period of time. Again, Hope Valley 66 offers solid, reliable service for very reasonable rates and I would recommend them easily.

It ended up being a stripped bolt on the front left sway bar link that attached to the subframe. I am impressed with their attention to detail on this, and I appreciate that they really wanted to get it resolved. They also didn't charge me for any of the work, which included a brake flush to fix the brake issue I noticed after the first repair. I highly recommend them, and I think it says a lot about a business when they own a mistake and fix it. Thanks guys!

Later, they called to say both AC lines were leaking and sent a new estimate for $1,996. In this updated estimate, they claimed I had approved the diagnostic for $101, removed the freon recharge from the original quote, and bundled it into the service section along with hose replacement--without clearly explaining the changes. After doing my own research, I found that even the dealership only charges around $780 for the same repair, plus $350 for the recharge. I also spoke with another mechanic in town who informed me that my vehicle had an extended warranty on the AC compressor, and advised me to go to the dealership instead. When I told Brown's Automotive this, they responded with, "Well, how am I supposed to know about a warranty?" It would be helpful if staff at car repair shops were more informed about manufacturer warranties. Instead of automatically charging customers, they could guide them toward services that might be covered--saving time and money and building trust. They refused to remove the diagnostic charge, even though the issue wasn't just the cost--it was the lack of transparency, poor customer service, high cost and the way they misled me throughout the process. I'm shocked by the positive reviews and would never recommend this shop. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else where honesty and customer care are a priority.

Having grown up in 3 small retail businesses in a small town, I know what good customer service is. Corkey does, too. When I learned from my general mechanic not only that the replacement parts would exceed $2000, but there were none in the US or Germany, I was rather crestfallen. When told it *could* be welded, but they were concerned they might damage the catalytic converter, I knew I wanted a specialist to do the welding. Enter Bull City Radiator & Wrecker Service. I called Corkey, explained the situation, and then brought the car over about 2pm. I showed him a picture of the problem and his reaction was like this was old-hat - exactly what I wanted - confidence of proper and easy repair, something done many times. He was up front with me that his welder might be able to get to it that day, but there were 3 hours left in the workday and 2 cars ahead of mine. I really appreciate the open honesty. My car was ready the next day. The cost? Only $150. My car is running well (and quietly!) and I'm absolutely satisfied with my experience from the first call to driving off their property.
