I previously rated this company at 3.5 stars but I am amending my rating to 4 and 1/2 stars. I am doing so because I have had a lot more auctions that I have participated in and the Service I have received has been excellent. On some of the items I have bought its been hard to determine size and quality of the items and admittedly I have made some mistakes. It would be nice to have more descriptions on the items especially size and weight. I am amending my rating for products to 4 stars due to the difficulty on some items o determining the value of the item. However, the service I have received has been excellent and as such my rating on the Service is 5 stars. So my average at 4.5 Stars works out just right. read more

Dishonest/fraud. I placed a $50.00 bid on a listing of 6 boxes of reloading bullets, at 3:28pm on 4-Feb. On 5-Feb. I checked my bid and Mayo had split the 6 box offering to 3 two box offerings but retained my bid to now only 2 boxes. They since cancelled my bid when I pointed out their fraudulent act. There was at least one other offering of 3 containers of reloading powder that they did the same thing to. I had not bid on the powder. Do NOT trust Mayo Auctions. read more

We used Robert Mayo as my buyer's agent when we purchased our first home in 2009. He was super patient and very knowledgeable about the market and the homes available in our price range. I would be very skeptical about using Mayo. I am an avid user of Craigslist as a buyer and seller. When you sell on CL you are given the option to either post as an owner, meaning private individual, or post as a business. If you are a business, there is a small fee for posting. That's how CL supports itself. I see Mayo constantly cheating at this and posting as an owner to avoid the fees. They can't claim ignorance as it has been pointed out several times by more people than just myself. It just shows no class when I see every other auction co. doing it properly and paying to play. If Mayo is willing to cheat in this small way, how else are they willing to cheat? I would never use them for fear of them cheating me. Best to stay away from this company. read more

We enlisted the help of Mayo Auction to liquidate warehouse inventory after we sold the 90,000 sf building. Five floors of imported baskets, glass vases and lots of tools, office equipment, and other items that accumulate after 23 years in business. We shopped around for an auction company and Mayo Auction had the most fair contract and terms. The team that came was first-rate, organized, and fun to work with. Very low stress and very successful auction -- made more than we could have hoped! We are so thankful we found them. Truly a grand experience for something that seemed overwhelming. We purchased a "works" boat motor. The motor runs, but will not idle. That makes it not water ready. When we found this out from the mechanic he felt like he had seen this motor before and had said that he had told the person that it was not able to be put on a boat. This seller, apparently, took it to Mayo to sell. We purchased it for $1000.00. When we contacted Mayo (which wasn't easy to get someone to talk to) they would not give us any info on the seller. They defended him saying that he had sold with them in the past. The person we talked to said they would contact the seller. We haven't heard back. We think that if you advertise it as "works", you should back up your selling tactic. It doesn't work, we'd like our money back. As a result of dealing with Mayo, we will never purchase from Mayo or any other online only auction company. read more

I made a purchase, showed up to pick it up and find its been built into the building. Electric wires running from the floor into the unit. The very vague description didn't mention this at all. I was only told I should have shown up to view it before I bought it. If they tend to want to hide information, it doesn't seem like an ideal auction site. Amateurs on Ebay can do a better job. There were several others there on pick up day that couldn't even find the items they purchased. Others bought items and discovered the pictures and the descriptions didn't match. Very poor service, will not use them in the future. read more

Brown Estate) with Robert Mayo Auction and we're very satisfied from our first contact with Robert to his professional staff of Sara, Linda, Jane, Ronnie, from Cataloging items to meeting the last bidder at pick-up day where kind caring courteous and helped educate us as they went along! Thanks, Jane for the "whiskey stick" education! All phone calls, and questions were answered promptly and without recuse! Mary saw to that! (Mary the friendly voice who answers when you call Mayo) Our only suggestion might be to get that "10 percent buyers premium" in BOLD type as some failed to catch it on the web. site and we're a little dismayed at item pick-up to pay 10 percent more!
